Whyem15: Also, they are a member NATO, wars that they know they can't fight or won't get the support of NATO, they beg to avoid such wars. They've been able to blackmail EU several times. They've made many enemies and lost many allies but they still get their way with most things. They had a confrontation with Greece recently, most NATO members supported Greece, Turkey decided to go for the diplomatic option. They know what they are doing. Rob Lee seems to reiterate what I earlier said on Armenia's drone problem in his recent tweets. "Armenia could send its newest air defenses, like the Tor-M2KM and Buk-M1-2, into Nagorno-Karabakh, leaving Armenia proper less well covered. This might work if they received guarantees that Russia would help defend Armenian air space from Turkey or maybe Azerbaijan." "They could ask or demand emergency deliveries of EW or AD systems from Russia to address the new UCAV threat. Or they could escalate, and attempt to destroy the TB2s on the ground or their C2 infrastructure, possibly with Su-30SM or Iskander-M/Tochka-U ballistic missiles." |

There's also been no evidence of Russian support for Armenia, while Azerbaijan gets significant assistance from Turkey. If Russia were to support on the level of Ukraine for example. Those drones will not fly. Russia has some of the best, if not the best EW capability in the world. |

They can do this because they are a NATO member. When they jailed the American pastor, Trump slammed sanctions on Turkey and their currency the Lira tanked. They had to release the Pastor. It is the same tactic Russia used, the Turkish president had to issue an apology and pay dividends to the Russian pilot's family. |

Whyem15: Maybe we are underestimating the country. They seem to have gotten away with everything they've done. Even the Turkey producing the drones being used to destroy Armenian air defense systems recently purchased air defense systems from Russia. Turkey has the 2nd largest military in NATO, and by far the biggest in Europe. They are a significant power in their region, however the fact is, the big countries like Russia simply do not have the appetite for direct confrontation with Turkey. The Turkish military would be destroyed in a direct combat with Russia. Most countries put trade front and center, and Turkey is a considerable trading partner sitting exactly where East meets West. When the Russian pilot was shot down by Turkey, how did the Kremlin react, it was Turkey that came back begging. The Drones Turkey makes have been crucial from Syria, to Libya and now the NK conflict in Armenia, but you need to remember the parts for those drones are western and imported. Look at the sale of T-129 helicopters to Pakistan, completely grounded. Armenian air defences are old OSA systems. The Pantsir also proved nearly incompetent against Drones, but as soon as Syria for example employed Buk systems, the Drone problem almost vanished. The Tor system has also been fantastic in dealing with drones. This Azerbaijan vs Armenia conflict has shown that militaries around the world need to keep up with trends as far as weapons development is concerned. |

Whyem15: The munitions being used on the drone need a direct hit on tanks and artillery to get a kill though. Many of the strikes on tanks are just mobility kills. US drones fire hellfire missiles. Simply means heavier munitions can be developed for UCAVs from other countries in no distant future. |

shadowprimezero: Oga! lets face it, the Armenians are outmatched. Don't take my word for it, the Azeris dont just put out statements like the Armenians, they release concrete video evidence. I've seen multiple tanks, MLRS, infantry trucks, tunnels, air defenses get taken out. Its no different from Syria or Libya, its a slaughter. Check out https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/ The Azerbaijani army is suffering unprecedented losses, while their media are hiding a huge number of dead. https://mobile.twitter.com/spriter99880/status/1311262340961230854There are multiple videos of huge losses on both sides. |

How do you expect people to go and queue up and vote when the winner is already predetermined, voters are not even sure of coming back alive due to violence Obaseki was predetermined? How I share a country with stark illiterates is baffling. |

shadowprimezero: Very raw footage. This shows how much modern conventional warfare has changed with Azeri Bayraktar UCAV's and Heron loitering munitions that the Armenian seem to be able to do nothing about . Also, Azeri artillery seems accurate AF, probably using UAV's for sporting.
This shows how any modern conventional force is useless without good air defences and solid EW capabilities. I think drones have been effective in this conflict. However quite a number of those drones have been shot down. Azerbaijan has lost considerable number of armour, helicopters and hundreds of soldiers. |

We just have to wait and see. The army has only taken into service 2 types of military vehicles. Ezugwu mrap and IPV1 from DICON. While DICON has 5 different types of vehicles. |

FieldMarshall06: You are very correct, but Nigerian Navy does not use missile boat as a classification. We use Fast Attack Craft (FAC). So, that Algerian vessel in NN would be a FAC like NNS Siri Combattante class.
However, the FAC in NN doctrine is more powerful than that ship, in terms of weapons. Yea, FAC. You're right. |

dragon2: Today's modern armoured units cannot and should not go about without mid-range mobile anti-aircraft missile defence, and signal jamming units,it's just suicide. With the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, it shows that military equipment needs to be constantly upgraded to deal with or keep pace with threats. It also has shown that fancy carbines are meaningless in actual combat if you don't have heavy equipment in heavy numbers. |

chkil1: each country have its own classification , some will classified it as missile boats , or patroller , algerian follow russian classifications , for exemple there is a lot of small russian ships (less than 800t) classified as corvettes (ex: Nanuchka-class corvettes 569 t) ) . but yes for me to it shouldn't be classified as corvette
the weapons and equipments are also very important , some of nigerian OPV if they had heavier weapons suit (missiles ect) they will be classified as corvettes . Yes, depending on the doctrine of your navy. That ship with missile in the Nigerian navy would be classified as a missile boat. Without missiles it would be classified as a seaward defence boat. For me, I think it is a missile boat. |

shadowprimezero: The war just started bros. Don't fall for obvious propaganda coming from both sides. This is a more balanced report of what's going on.
https://www.oryxspioenkop.com/2020/09/the-fight-for-nagorno-karabakh.html?m=1 I read that report, however we all have open source information. There's really no new information he is providing. There have been casualties from both sides however if we look at some of the footages released, the Armenians are doing better. The photo below gives more credence to the Armenian claims. With armoured vehicles stacked like this, it would be easy to rack up considerable losses. Drones from Turkey have been doing a fantastic job also, but Armenia has shot down 15 UAVs allegedly.

UltimateDreamer: mehn, this one go rugged oh, reading that Armenia is accusing Turkey of transporting fighters from Syria into the zone, ready to battle Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan on the other hand also accused of having recruited mercenaries and terrorists from the Middle East. Looks like this is one twisted plot with very many actors, all capable of causing serious damage. Iran is calling for restraint on both sides, the fact that here are no diplomatic relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan makes this situation even more precarious. Azerbaijan is 97 percent Muslim while Armenia is 97 percent Christian Will this be another proxy war between Erdogan's Turkey and Putin's Russia, both men have been flexing muscle since Syria, Libya, both always supporting opposing sides... now this. This seems too close to home for Russia though, don't know if Putin will be able to contain this without it spilling over. Even though Armenia is 1/3 the Azerbaijan economy and population, Armenia always manages to bloody up Azerbaijan, due to Russia's backing. But this time Turkey's a bit stronger now since ottoman times, so we don't know if Erdogan will want to prove a point. But from the opening salvo, Armenia and Russia kicking ass right now abi? and apparently they still hold on to the disputed territory called Nagorno-Karabakh now called the Republic of Artsakh albeit indirectly Russia won't allow Armenia lose Nagorno-Karabakh. They have deep historical ties, including with Azerbaijan, but Russia favours Armenia more. Funny thing is Russia exports weapons to both sides. The relationship between Turkey and Azerbaijan are cultural, they are both Turkic people, so they fact that Turkey is backing Azerbaijan is expected. Turkey is over-playing it's strength though, taking on everybody in the region, including France, Russia and the US. Let's see how this progress though. Armenia is currently giving Azerbaijan a bloody nose, however Azerbaijan would respond. |

More Azerbaijani equipment destroyed.
BMP-2 on fire
A spokeswoman for the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Shushan Stepabian:
Armenian army shot down 2 helicopters and 3 drones of the Azerbaijani enemy army, which started a new aggression on the demarcation line with the Armenian Republic of Artsakh early Sunday morning.
The enemy also bombed the capital, Stepanakert, and thus the military and political leadership in Azerbaijan bears full responsibility for the consequences of this action.

UltimateDreamer: Abi oh, we can vividly remember those years, begging FG to buy hand me down MRAPS from America, second hand from eastern Europe, anything from anywhere to save personnel from soft-skinned death traps . It took the believe of a few Nigerians to point the way, showing what was possible, we all remember igirigi... we've come a long way abeg... Now, are we where we need to be, NO, as long as we still see personnel in active engagement riding soft-skinnies, we have a lot of work to do, but at least the work is now somewhere in a factory in kaduna not over the bloody seas. We might still have to import steel and aluminum but that too will come to an end very soon with the reactivation of ajaokuta and alcon. so yes locally built fighter jet, for sure yes. Especially with the jf17 coming in, the Pakistanis show us the way. Again, another intelligent post. We used to beg to import MRAPs, used ones and APCs from America, China, South-Africa and the likes. But today we demand answers when we see even 1 imported APC in the country. Is this not incredible. That Nigerians, and military watchers want answers when an APC is imported, look at the reaction when we saw the South-Korean APC pictured a few days back. You can't count the number of armoured vehicles manufactured in Nigeria. There are some also still coming on stream. |

UltimateDreamer: Can start with reverse engineering turbo-props too if that's easier to fathom.
Note the NAFSA Eagle, a turbo-prop light utility aircraft is been developed by the Air force, we saw the fuselage in 2018, that project's still ongoing Chief of air staff Sadiq Abubakar did state that "The push for improved domestic capabilities follows Nigeria's success in refurbishing and re-commissioning several helicopters, fixed-wing turbo-prop aircraft, fighter and trainer jets, and aerial defense systems." Presidential Executive Order 5. This order requires all 3 services including the Nigerian police must source equipment where possible locally. |
