No offence, but U sure say that tiny mosquito go fit do all those things u talk? 12 for $329 million equates to $25m+ each. With that kind of money, we can still do better. What happend to the su25 someone mentioned? We still can't overemphasize the importance of dedicated gunship platforms as well as armed UAVs for 24hr all weather surveillance and attack. Air force needs to address that.
Just check out the bombs we bought from America and cross reference it with the ground attack bombs the US has in it's inventory, you will see that I am right.

Intact, US SOCOM (special forces command) will buy 75 units of Super Tucano to be used by US special forces.

The SU-25 is a much better ground attack plane than the Super Tucano but it lacks these important attributes, low maintenance, ISR capability, Loiter time (over 10 hours) and low flying cost. The Tucano can also be used to train Nigerian air force JF-17 fighter pilots. This is why the Tucano is a better option.

We need a lot of UAVs, not just armed ones. If you look at Russia and Turkey, even Iran in Syria, you will see that they employ a lot of UAVs in combat.

This has proven to be effective.

But Russia and Turkey will use UAVs to track terrorists for hours, when they head back to their base the UAV will relay coordinates to fighter jets that would come and bomb the place or artillery to shell the place. Very effective.

Watch how Turkey used UAVs to trail these guys and neutralized them with F-16 fighter jets.

Thanks for this man
Guys let do something ?

Let’s compare the Super Tucson vs Su-25 or other jet you would have preferred to get grin grin
I will search online for a comparison and post.

The SU-25 is better than the Tucano all round but in terms of the warfare we are facing as Nigerian, the Tucano is better.

atleast they will offer more protection to troops to avoid ambushes
No, I agree with you. I'm just saying why we need additional heavy guns.

Not bad but I'd rather see a squadron or two of Su30s. At least the Airforce is getting J-17s.

America will NEVER EVER sell Nigeria a single AC130 or any type of sophisticated heavy weapons systems no matter what! When will you guys ever accept this?
Nigeria needs a minimum of 24 JF-17, this one we are buying 3 units doesn't make any sense.

Remember the brazil super tucano?
The US can block a sale from Russia and China if they want.

The US blocked the sale of SU-35 fighter jets Indonesia wants to buy from Russia.

Okay let's say ure right. The Russians will have an ac130 equivalent definitely. I know it. Like I said earlier, why am I not coas/hop for Nigerian armed forces?
The Russians don't have an AC-130 equivalent.

Someone said 15 for $600m. Very cost ineffective bro. I Don't think that's true sha. But still, we need heavily built, full cas attack aircraft that have endurance capabilities and can pummel BH 3 hours nonstop. These tucanos isn't just it. We could have gotten more su25s, mi35, ka25s, a ton of attack drones and the Russian equivalent of the ac130 and b52 bomber.

I think the air force leadership needs some real punishment/sanctioning. They're pretty much the reason why our bases fall to BH and our boys have to retreat from time to time. In the general Adeniyi video, man complained they came under at least 100 RPGs fired from BH. They were flanked on all sides. So many stories of no air support during a 2-3hr gunfight whereas in the us army it would have been the opposite. Na air force bombers go dey do d work while marines go dey flex.
Nigeria bought 12 Super Tucanos for $329 million. That individual claiming 600 million is telling lies.

We are also getting JF-17 thunders, we are also getting MI-35m helicopters. For the MI-35m once we pay the balance the remaining 8 units would be delivered.

The Tucanos can carry all the ground attack bombs and munitions in the US Air Force service apart from MOAB and Nuclear weapons.

The Tucanos can loiter and provide reconnaissance for 10 hours to ground troops, imagine that capability.

The Tucano is perfect for Nigeria considering we are not in a threat environment like Syria were the enemy has MANPADs.

We cannot buy the TU-160 it's not going to happen. We cannot buy the AC-130, that's not going to happen either.

What the Nigerian army needs in addition to more of the VT-4 Tank is a dedicated Air Arm, armed with Light Attack Helicopters.

And don't forget we have ordered and receiving a lot of MRAPS from proforce ARA and EZUGWU, so what's the need buying outside again
We don't produce heavy combat equipment. MRAPs are very useful in COIN but they only pack the same firepower as our gun trucks.

If some people actually understood COIN warfare then they wouldn't be saying Nigeria should've gotten more T-72s.................

Firstly because its COIN warfare, you aint going to drive columns of Tanks in to the battle field!! thus what's the point in buying 100 T-72, when you are only going to have a handful in the battle field in the first place?

Secondly what's the most common anti tank weapon used by rebels/insurgence? its the RPG, Now I don't know if any of you have seen what an RPG-7 can do to a T-72? it cooks it, that's what it does. The VT4 on the other hand would shrug of an RPG-7 hit as if its nothing, the only thing that can destroy a VT4 is modern ATGMs and modern RPG-28s which aren't freely available to Insurgence like BH.

Coupled with the SH-5 105mm(C130 transportable) and ST1 AFV this has been so far one of the smartest Nigerian defence force acquisitions to date!!
It's incredible, how would anyone in his right senses, say Nigeria should go for T-72s instead of VT-4 Tanks. It's incredible.

We also need big artilleries like this too.

Is it true that the T-72s bought in 2014 were second hand?
Yea, we bought second hand T-72s from Ukraine and Czech republic.

Now, buying second hand military equipment is not a bad thing, every country earth, apart from the US, China, Russia, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Germany and France buys second hand too.

lol, no wonder Nigeria is a mess, if you have any common sense you'd know you don't shut down a company and ask them to leave a state over such a violation.
Court exists for a reason
Have a good day bro
Go and sit down, you never have anything sensible to say.

Let the company go and argue it's case in court.

Tanks are very important in COIN warfare. We saw their usefulness when the army deployed many T-72s in 2015.

Look at the war in Syria, also see how Tanks are so important to the Syrian army.

Nigeria needs state of the art tanks like the VT-4 that can hit targets 10km away.

We already have many locally produced armoured vehicles, but heavy weapons wins you wars.

River State Governor kicked out an helicopter company out of the state because they violated the Governor's covid-19 order? Why such drastic response, these silly governors are truly on a power trip, anyone with common sense would just fine them, why shut them down, jesus, stupid people running that country for real. No governor should ever have such power, unless approved by a Judge, and no judge would even allow that, or should.
Lol, na wetin catch my eye for the video, just gross
Bros, there is nothing silly in the governor's action.

There is a lockdown in the state, the helicopter company violated the lockdown.

You can fly in your passengers into the state, but they must remain in the federal facility.

Once you enter the state's land, you would get arrested.

It's basic common sense, nothing to rant about in this thread over.

Truly our Tank Bns will be the most elated. All these years of managing scraps! One question I now have is; The T72s and the knowledge we've gained from it —operations and maintenance. E don wash down drain?
I don't think we need up to 100 units of the ST1s, just enough numbers to escort the Tanks. My real concern is for the MRAPs! We need them with RWS on a good number of them.

If only the could mate 60mm mortar tubes to these trucks...
There are still a number of T-72s and Vickers Tanks in service, they would complement the VT-4s I think.

I just hope the army can push ahead with a total replacement of Tanks. 177 units in all would be nice.

We can have ARA MRAPs in 60mm mortar configurations.

In the light tank/tank destroyer category we need to replace the scorpion and ERC-90 Sagie. I think 100 vehicles would be just fine.

I agree, we need lots of MRAPs. A lot of them.
