Covert1: Kabe1 I beg to disagree with the submission on the KA-52 as per the armour protection levels compared to say the MI-35M. You might want to check that out, I stand corrected but the MI-35M is known for rigours not so the KA-52. On the issues of Attack Helicopters, I think tactics plays a huge role on their overall performance & survivability. Shot with a MANPAD or a high caliber round, they will all fall from the sky in most cases. The only modern Attack Helicopter that have had more perennial issues that I know of is the Tiger Helicopter. I believe Australia has completed dumped that helicopter following multiple, multiple issues with that platform. |

Nemesis4you: few months back a ind.. fellow was going gaga over Apache since it's now in service with iaf , he don't know me so expecting me to disco dance over it, finally out of irritation told him a single .303 bullet took out a Apache , he didn't bother me no longer
As a rule i never go for conclusive statements like good or bad etc for any equipment perse bec these are machines , they will be as good as the crew that fly them , the tactics that are brought into, the leverage provided by external support elements etc etc and last but not the least lady luck to ride on
Also lack of access to OEM info is there , lack of competitive trials or face offs in controlled environment is there to come to a judgement
Judgement based on performance in war for any weapon imo is not concrete , in another war with another country another crew etc etc a weapon might performance better or worse - realm of probability
If i have to give an opinion on ka52 or any heli i would judge it only on specifics ( qualities which makes it stand out ) which can be safely assumed based on verifiable open source info vis a vis
Eg
Co axial rotors are an advantage, better , safer and faster etc compartively to usual ones , so that can be counted as an advantage
Another is the level of protection , it's comparatively more so definitely a advantage
Ka 52 imo stands out specifically in these 2 factors but than its my (or anyone's) opinion and not scaroscant
Look at this way one could loose lot of equipment men etc and still win the war , i will take it gladly
What matters is the outcome vis a vis the instruments of war not the performance etc of the instruments , they don't matter in the big scheme , just means to an end
Rest is OEM gimmick Excellent analysis again my boss. I think it's difficult to determine in true sense if one equipment is better than another, as tactics play a huge role as you have correctly pointed out. So let's move on, and talk about Main Battle Tanks and their place in modern combat. Some "experts" opined that the place of the main battle tank was no longer viable in modern warfare, and the Tank is now a relic of the past. Especially with the proliferation of man portable anti-tank systems. Do you consider this statement to be factual? I personally do not. What is the role of the Tank in today's battlefield, your opinion is required.

Covert1: Indeed, no doubt. There's no contestation. The Russian pilots even brag publicly how they go under fire in heavily contested environment to successfully carry out combat missions. I think it's something we've seen from the videos they have released. Why do you think the MI-35M hasn't seen significant combat use in this conflict? |

kabe1: Is the KA-52 Alligator, the world's best Attack Helicopter?
Since the start of the Russian invasion, 3 months ago, 10 KA-52 Alligator Attack Helicopters have been destroyed in Ukraine. Considering the intensity of which they have been used in this conflict, including areas of employment and aircraft availability. Following this initial inquiry, I believe most respondents here agree that the KA-52 is the world's best Attack Helicopter. Nemesis4u, what is your analysis/take on this subject? Using the realistic parameters of the Wars in Ukraine and Yemen as a base.

GreenandGold: Do you know that the Parabats could actually get a Starstreak close to your airbase in Makurdi via Cameroon? find a bush and just wait for the aircrafts to take off and then take them down.... it is in the exact reason why they are mounted on a low-profile vehicle.
But we're not there hey Hypothetical nonsense. No you can't. You can barely run your military as it stands. Your frigate had to be pushed from Mozambique, the SANDF is in a rot. You clowns need to wake the f*** up!! |

GreenandGold: Take a time machine, fly your dodo-birds into 1990 Iraqi airspace and see if they would come back. You are delusional, the Iraqi's got their asses handed to them by a much weaker Iran in the Iraq-Iran war. Till today, Iran flies Iraqi SU-25s. Iran gifted Iraq, Iraqi SU-25s. Get a load of that. |
