Let's not deceive ourselves, we all know OPV 76 is not a light frigate, even with it's modular design and if it gets outfitted with weapons and sensors for any type of Sea based warfare it's tonnage still hinders it from being classified a light frigate
What is the argument for Nigeria getting a Frigate (s) instead of buying more OPVs?

What will, hypothetically speaking 4 Frigates do for the Nigerian Navy, shouldn't we instead invest in Anti-ship systems like the Neptune or Bastion, then purchase additional OPVs like the OPV 76?

Is it just me or is Toyota pickups slowly disappearing from the battlefield?

They are not as rampant as before, where a full line of convoy is made up of only pickup trucks.

I just hope they continue like this untill those pickups fully disappear from the battlefield
That's what happens when you procure nearly 400 armoured vehicles.

It also shows that Nigeria has the money to properly equip troops, but laxity, laziness and corruption of past governments made it seem like the funds were never available.

It also depends on the government in power, this government has prioritized security, even though we haven't seen the results yet.

I think Pickups are important in today's land battlefield, any responsible government should employ a right mix of vehicles.

True but we also have to note that circumstances are different in every war..

In this case it was basically Russia against Nato weaponry in Ukraine... We are talking about a Ukraine that is able to resupply and replenish weaponry every month.
If this was Nato against Ukraine, The US would have detroyed all air defences and air assets of the Ukraine on week one b4 enforcing a no fly zone over Ukraine airspace thereby mainitaining complete air dominace, then they would have put a blockade on Ukraine territory against getting any kind of military help from outside. And within a month Ukraine would have run out of military supplies, and any kind of replenishment within the territory would have been intercepted and destroyed by fighter jets in a moments notice...
If it had happened in Nato sytle fashion like this, the artlicles would be writing a different story and telling us that mordern conventional wars are determined by air superiority and not artlillery or tanks.
Excellent submission my brother.

Proforce Limited had a very successful exhibition at Eurosatory2022 held in Paris, France. We welcomed visitors from across the world who were happy to discuss and find better solutions to numerous security challenges.
Nigerian delegation to Eurosatory seems substantial.

Although the question is not about just visiting alone, I hope they are making actual efforts to close out contracts.

To me, us is not to be blamed.... They are just fighting for their best interest, if Nigeria was a superpower in her position; we will do thesame. That's why they trained ukraine for 8 yrs, afghan for 20 yrs; they have the money, they follow capitalism if a few bucks has a possibility of solving my problem; I will very well do it. Same with socialism which builds relationships
Look at the country of Ukraine, completely destroyed and now landlocked.

For a war that could easily have been avoided.

As far as this war goes, all I can say is America is a hypocrite country.
They say they don't want war but keep on sending weapons to Ukraine. If these same military aid was given to terrorist affected countries, the so called "American led War on Terrorism" would have been history.
Based on my understanding the real deal is that the US doesn't want competition for the attribute of world super power so to prevent that they came up with the proposal of Ukraine joining NATO knowing that it would trigger response from Russia and it turns out Russia's response was the invasion of Ukraine. So instead of America to agree to Russia's terms of not expanding NATO to the East they incited Ukraine to go to war. Because of the inavsion everyone thinks Russia is the aggressor so sanctions are placed on Russia and military aid is extended to Ukraine. This is a strategy the Americans are using to destabilize Russia and they may do so China by using Taiwan.
Mind u America will do worse if Russia, China and Iran were to form a military alliance and Mexico was invited to join
This is the reason why so many countries/people are supporting Russia. The Ukrainians allowed themselves to be used as cannon fodder.

Cuban missile crisis comes to mind.

I'm thinking maybe the STM 2400 light frigate because a delegation from Defence headquarters had discussions with Turkey's STM defence industry on procurement of some equipments.
Who knows we might also get the STM light submarine.
That was at a defence exhibition in Turkey, not necessarily a discussion. Nigerian military planners attend these shows on a yearly basis.

When approval is given for the purchase of a Frigate from the Nigerian Navy, they ships would come from either China or Germany. The Nigerian Navy would not purchase a Frigate from Turkey.

Words are flying around that Nigeria is getting a Frigate armed with both offensive and defensive missiles.

How true is this. kabe1
Words from that clown, Defense News Nigeria on Twitter.

The Nigerian Navy set up an evaluation committee to persuade the federal government to purchase a Frigate for the Nigerian Navy.

There's no evidence to suggest this evaluation exercise is completed, there's also no evidence to show the Nigerian government has given approval for such purchase.

What we are sure of at this time is, the Nigerian Navy will get an additional LST to support NNS Kada.

Massive news and important foreign direct investment for Nigeria.

SierraNevCorp to inaugurate their permanent presence in Nigeria & ongoing success of the A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft program. We remain committed to providing the tools & training for Nigeria to counter insecurity.

At the time the deal was completed, it was the largest ever Foreign Military Sale in Sub-Saharan Africa, valued at $497 million.

We hope Nigeria can increase operational effectiveness by adding another squadron of A-29 aircraft as quickly as possible.”

Any new delivery for the VT4 tanks to nigeria ?

Nigeria received only 6 in april 2020 at the delivery ceremony

https://www.overtdefense.com/2020/04/16/nigeria-receives-chinese-armored-vehicles/
Although Nigerian media reported Nigeria placed orders for 35 Tanks, quoting our Defense minister.

In May 2019, Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Mansur Dan-Ali, said the Nigerian government had provided funding for the acquisition of modern equipment for the Nigerian armed forces, with some in service and others on the way

This included 35 main battle tanks, 25 Typhoon MRAPs (mine-resistant, ambush protected vehicles), 20 Armoured Guard Booths, five armoured mine-clearing vehicles, 50 troop-carrying vehicles and 40 Buffalo vehicles, among others for the Nigerian Army.
