GeneralFarouq: This brings an end to the debate whether or not NAF was satisfied with the jf-17 But seeing the term " balance payment" I hope it is not in reference to completing the payment for the earlier deliveries?
You are right, however from the budget of last year, 3 x JF-17 was new.
kabe1: 2022 budget proposal: NAF will replace both Beechcraft 350i ISR/ liaison aircrafts lost in fatal accidents earlier this year with 2 new King Air 360.
. Additional order for 3 x JF-17
• An earlier order for 1 Aw-139 has been changed to 2x Aw109 Trekker helicopters.
• Reactivation of 2x AS332 Super Puma’s.
balance payment for PDM of 3x L-39za (I believe these are the 3 aircrafts upgraded in Czech Republic)
• PDM and upgrade of 3 Mi series helicopters
NAF already received nearly 1 billion dollars in the recently passed supplementary budget.
With the funds covering the purchase of M-346FA and possibly additional MI-35M.
lionel4power: This is one example of different viewpoints I explained above.
You say Damen posted it months ago. Which is true, meanwhile Damen also posted it 3 days ago. Which is also true. The fact that you watched it months ago doesn't mean that others watched it at the same time.
Bottom line is, you're quite wrong to say its a distorted fact.
I apologise for my earlier comment.
However it still boils down to you doing proper OSINT before posting content, remember you want to be considered a credible source.
GeneralFarouq: And Damen also posted it two days ago.
It doesn't change the fact that a basic research would have shown that the information he is sharing is not new.
As I've shown, it is months old info.
If you want to be taking seriously, as a news source you need to know how to carry out basic OSINT, which includes but is not restricted to fact checking, citing of sources etc etc.
As we can all see, he copied a Nigerian Navy/Damen video, did not acknowledge the source, plasted his logo on the video and shared it as some sort of "breaking news".
Happy Independence Day to my beloved country, Nigeria.
As a country, there are so many things to be proud of, but we understand that the challenges we face as a country are very tough, however they are not insurmountable.
Let us use this opportunity as Nigerians, both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora to reflect, reorganise and rebuild.
Stargate254: I believe we can all agree that this is a pan African military forum and as such new users like chakib MUST be welcomed with both arms open. This thread has been around for more than 10 years and in most times it's been mostly the usual suspects (people from the same countries) posting pics, so if an Algerian wants to cover all that time in one fell swoop, let him feel free to do so! People from outside Nigeria don't just get to this thread because they saw an ad on some random website, they do so because they were searching for info about African Militaries and this thread was like finding a gold mine.
I pray that one day Egyptians, Ethiopians, Sudanes,Rwandans, Ugandans, Senegalese, Malians ... Even that country/state called Rep.of Saharawi (I hope I got that right) .... All represented fully!!!!
100% fully supported.
This thread needs more diversity. It would be better if we get more people outside Nigeria, South-Africa and Kenya posting.
I'll like to implore all participants of this thread, please be more welcoming.
The few picks Chakib has posted can't be compared to the thousands of Nigerian military photos here.
Chakib: i really don't know what pics were already posted but i'll try to bring more recent photos cuz im sure most of them are not yet published ,for the others i would like to see more pics of their armies instead of criticizing me
Please don't take internet criticism too seriously.
There are Nigerians, South-Africans, Algerians, Kenyans, Namibians, a Tunisian, a Zambian in the thread, and everyone is welcome to share photos of their country's military.
Photos that haven't been published are all welcome, in fact post as many photographs old or new as you like. We would however prefer new ones or never published ones.
RiceProducers: The 2021 defence budget (not 2021 supplementary budget) contained appropriation for continuing procurement of JF17 Block 2. There was money for 1 aircraft + systems.
iblawi: Another good reason is that JF-17's development life-cycle isn't complete yet. The JF-17 block 3 is the original plan but till date still lacks the planned engine.
Ws-13 engine is expected to have better performance but haven't been finalized.
In my opinion I think it's better we see the full capabilities of this aircraft before major procurement is made.
I don't think the WS-13 engine is such a major requirement for the JF-17. Besides the RD-93 is a more reliable, and more widely used engine. It should be easier to maintain.
I like the JF-17, but I think NAF should aim for a more modern fighter instead of the Block II for example.
kabe1: Throw back to Nigerian Navy's public hearing in 2017.
Nigerian Navy wants $1.3 billion acquisition programme
Written by Oscar Nkala/defenceWeb -10th Aug 2017
The Nigerian Navy needs $1.3 billion to acquire new hardware to secure its territorial waters, according to Navy Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, who is seeking the acquisition of at least five new ships.
Addressing a public hearing organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Maritime Safety and Administration, Ibas said the required long term acquisitions include a general-purpose frigate valued at $350 million, a long-endurance Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) valued at $120 million, a medium-endurance OPV estimated at $60 million, a landing platform dock ship worth $350 million and a landing ship-tank valued $90 million.
Other required assets include a submarine worth $300 million, a Seaward Defence Boat (SDB) worth $10 million and a specialised naval security helicopter at an estimated cost of $25 million.
