@yungboss Oh the Japanese product are not that bad? and they tend to use lighter materials may be less fuel consumption, but they tried to venture into a sector that seems to be dominant by the European motor industries which is the Saloon or Sedan.

Japan held the small car industry and I think they should stick to it, in the 90's the only competition came from the Volkswagen Golf and Renault Clio, but the Golf is becoming more powerful and bigger to be classed as a small car and the Clio is long gone and Renault Megane is not doing it.

On the other hand the Japanese tried the sports car industry and in the only successful product was the Nissan 300 ZX! but wasn't strong in the market, The Toyota Supra Twin-turbo was a flop likewise the Mitsubishi 3000GT or the Honda NSX. I know Nissan came back with the Skyline and the 350 ZX but couldn't hold a candle to what was on offer in Europe!
Like I said, the Nissan GTR eats German sport car coupes for lunch, check out the stats my friend, the modded Alpha 10 GTR ran a 9 sec quater mile, no M3,AMG or R8 will come close for what you pay for the GTR which is well under $90k
Car TalkRe: Are There Bmw M3's In Nigeria by kabukabu50(m): 2:28am On Jan 03, 2012
The M series cars while still legendary in my opinion have lost some of their edge over the last decade,BMW has porked out all across their lineups, they are now way too heavy and gizmo laden to induce the same kind of visceral feeling of the early 90s M models.not too mention some other automakers are catching up.

Here's a clip of a pro track driver testing an M3 against the Mustang Boss 302.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOwSPccbzl4

BMW and a lot of German manufacturers have sat on their hands the last decade while other upstarts have gotten better.
Cadillac now has the V line up in coupe, wagon and sedan form,Pontiac's G8 GXP are just a few of high performance sleepers that you can get for less than the price of the M series BMWs with a real stick shift, not some crap paddle shift slushbox.

The Nissan GTR blows the doors off most of its German competition,in stock form is neck and neck with the Porsche 911 turbo and modded eats those cars for lunch.Oh and its half the price for admission, Performance is great , but sometimes value is much better.

Essentially what all these nut-jobs are ranting about is the same old, "West is going to hell in a handbasketbecause of so-called free for all immorality", get it undecided

you probably don't so go ahead with your mindless "bible-thumping" along with the others.

Typical of nairaland sheeple to believe anything cool
There isn't one iota of truth in this story and we have 4 pages of all the blathering meatheads pop out of nowhere with their conspiracy theories.

Seriously most of your posters on here need to get your act together, I don't know your backgrounds or ages but 90% of the time it seems like conversing with a bunch of 5 year olds. sad

There is no way on earth that bestiality would in any way be welcome in the US period. Not with the way animal rights activists are over here, any legislator who would dare it would lose his job the next day and they would sign thousands of petitions against him.

Secondly.I never quite understand where all this mindless concept comes from that "anything goes" in the US. sad

For you folks who have never been to the US, most communities in the US are as conservative or even more strict that Nigerian communities.

In some states in the US you can't buy alcohol on Sundays but you can in nigeria, they set that apart because its the "Lord's day", now do you seriously think that those kind of ppl would embrace "bestiality". huh

In the US if you commit a sexual crime against a child, you are forever listed on a govt directory, you are not allowed to have unsupervised contact with kids and there are places you are barred from visiting, so how is that "freedom" that some other useless poster in here was talking about, you can do anything you like in the US.

You folks need to get exposed and not belive everything you see or hear especially on the web. I am sure that there are more livestock being abused by hersmen in nigeria than there are in the USand its not a new thing, some Kenyan man the other day wanted to be married to his goat, because he had gotten so used to sleeping with it.

Fellow nairalanders, kindly assist in making these choice of car with reason. I need to choose between 2002-2004 Toyota Highlander and 2006 honda Accord. I cant really make a choice between both cars. Please help me make a choice with reason why you would prefer any, in terms of maintenance, durability, economical etc. For both cars, am going for an 2.4Engine.
You do know that they are in different categories right? grin
You can't compare a four door midsize sedan to a midsize SUV.

How about comparing the Accord to
Camry
Maxima
Legacy

and compare the Highlander to
Honda CRV
Nissan Murano

, you get the point. grin
PoliticsRe: UK, Amnesty International Kick Against Nigeria’s Anti man-lover Law by kabukabu50(m): 2:23am On Dec 02, 2011
aribisala0:
sadly almost ALL posters here are devoid of reason.
already homosexuality was criminal in our laws
in the sharia states it carries a death penalty
in most of the south it carries a prison sentence
we inherited the penal code in the souther states from the BRITISH
so far who has been sent to jail or imprisoned for this

the issue here is not whether one agrees with or detests homosexuality
whether it is good or bad in the eyes of God(presumablyadultery, violation and sex with children, i hear one of the Senators has a child bride are lower cadres of SIN)
the issue is this; for every hour that the national assembly sits it costs Nigerians nearly 100 million naira. i reckon this law has cost well over 1 billion Naira
what will it change. before the law came in were men marrying each other huh.
is this what people queued up in the sun to vote for huh
even more ridiculous is the fact that this law covers an area which is clearly within the purview of state houses of assembly

so how does this new law change the status quo
one would imagine that education equips people to think NOT react
at any rate does 14 years seem reasonable for homosexuality.
when Lucky Igbinedion Alamiesigha and Bode George are all free men?

this is the same country where women are violated wantonly
men sleep with their daughters and even impregnate them
you can now be jailed if you know people are man-lover and do NOT report
we really are a funny people
i predict this law will be used to rubbish public figures /politicians in the same way as Baba Suwe.
we have seen this in Malaysia and Zimbabwe.
people wey no know dey happy people wey know dey look
Very well put, brother, nigerians amaze me.
where is the uproar over our broken countryhuh

Pepole suffer for utter lack of knowledge, now they belive that hordes of "homosexuals" will fill the streets in Nigeria grin, by the time that happens the country will already be a devastated wasteland of starving masses waiting on UN food drops and gangs with ak47s patrolling the streets, "shakes head in disgust".
PoliticsRe: UK, Amnesty International Kick Against Nigeria’s Anti man-lover Law by kabukabu50(m): 1:30am On Dec 02, 2011
Taking a quick snapshot of all the comments that you can always find on Nairaland involving certain issues such as this one, which is basically a non-issue,its pretty easy to come to the conclusion that
1)Most nigerians are ill informed on a variety of issues.
2)Most nigerians would'nt comprehend the fact that certain issues are wedges used by crooked sly politicians to serve as rallying points to restore falling confidence.
Hear me out on this, and its used in every political machine in every country wink

Politicians feed off public support,if for some reason they have any feeling that it is waning, even the slightest, time to wheel out a wedge issue, like , oh, (Covers mouth and ears, for the nairaland sensor nazis) grin, "Homosexuality".
And bamm, bob's your uncle, the feeding frenzy begins and all the hitherto, relatively smart citizens, go crazy for blood. grin
Quickly forgetting that,
1)Those same politicians are stacking away the hard earned wealth of the country into their pockets.
2)Unemployment is at an all time high
3)After decades of promises, basic working infrastrutures like 24/7 electricity and water are non existent in a country that ships over 500,000 barrels of black gold a day

And the great "unwashed" spit fire and brimestone about "homosexuality"huh
nigerians are better than this charade of clowns, at least thats what I want to believe, thats what my heart says, but again and again, my mind confirms the truth, that the eternal damnation of nigeria will not come at the hand of its politicians but at the hands of its masses sad

Until they refuse the status quo from what they see and hear, and see things for what they really are, ploys to undermine public revolution against these stool pigeons.

I still have reserved opinion on Ojukwu but My Parents were in Delta during the time of the Massacre and their stories haunt me till this day the pure unabashed murder of innocent menwomen and children by the Nigerian troops is one of the darkest days in Nigerian history and I hope we never have to go through that carnage ever again.
PoliticsRe: Why Do Nigerians In Diaspora Refer To Nigeria As Africa? by kabukabu50(m): 6:17pm On Nov 25, 2011
The number one answer that Nigerians tell foreigners when asked "where they are from"? is Jamaica, believe me I have seen it with my own eyes many times, just hilarious. grin

On the other hand, quite a lot of Americans have no clue about anywhere outside their own state shocked, so it makes no sense to go into a 10 min elaboration on where Nigeria is and so on, so just tell them Africa and be on your way. cool

Europeans in the US that I meet know Nigeria very well, even most Latin americans,Brazilians,Argentinains, because of the Legendary Super Eagles, who they will even name for you, Amokachi,Amunike, Okocha.

Shame our Eagles are now a shadow of their former selves.

For Black Americans, I rub it in their face because they should know that 1 out of every 4 black people on Earth is NIGERIAN.And moreover more Nigerian young men and women are making their name in sports in the US like the NFL,College football and College Basketball.
AutosRe: Pls Stop Sending Cars Without Locally Available Spareparts Down To Naija by kabukabu50(m): 5:02pm On Nov 21, 2011
volasunkan:
TODAY I was at my auto mechanic's workshop to service my car but alas I met the man and his lieutenants brainstorming on a car that appeared so ravishing new and beautiful, the car was one of the new models of AUDI 2.8 SEDAN CAR.I must confess,I love the car and when I was told people are already bidding for the car and the owner of the car,a car-importer based overseas is breathing down their neck to please fix the car ASAP.That immediately got me worried,is there a ploy to sell the car with a hidden fault and the unfortunate buyer would then 'carry the cross'?
I enquired from my mechanic what is wrong with the car.I never expected the kind of response i got-"The car is nothing but a disaster,we have moved all around Lagos for its parts to buy the replacement but all to no avail"he thundered out of frustration.'I dont know what the man wants me to do,maybe he expects me to turn myself into a sparepart' He concluded. Seeing his mood and frustration I did not even bother continuing with the discussion until he said"Can you imagine that people are already bidding over a million for this useless car!,I pity whoever buys this(2.8L audi sedan car)." shocked shocked shocked

Pls my brothers and sisters, pls be more diligent in your enquiries about a particular brand of car and availability of spareparts locally before shipping cars down,I know that apart from the agony and financial loss it causes the eventual buyer,it is a huge environmental liability as most of those cars just liter the environment and trust Naijas, the buyer will find another suegbe and pass it on to until eventually the car is a complete environmental mess.Abeg, let us save our environment .God bless.
Simple Bone headed Nigerian mentality cool
There are lots of Audi parts available in Nigeria, op is probably dealing with some JJC shade tree mechanic who could not properly rotate tires if he had to grin
The Audi 2.8 is actually one of the easiest to fix out of all the Audi models, this goes to show how inadequate and unprepared those cheap mechanics are, grin

Volkswagen dealerships will have access to most basic Audi parts in Lagos and even at worse case you can contact some auto shipper to have a rare part shipped down to you,no big deal.Don't blame lack of parts, blame the lazy mechanics who will complain if they can't handle these relatively simple to fix cars.

PoliticsRe: Nigerians Need The Right To Bear Arms? by kabukabu50(m): 7:21am On Nov 17, 2011
Jakumo:
Sho y'right. Another point being forgotten here by some is that murder is a capital offense by Nigerian law, weapon to commit mursuch that anyone who uses a gun or any other der in Nigeria could potentially face the hangman's noose. With that in mind, the concerns being expressed by some writers that civilian possession of self-defence weapons would facilitate a rash of homicides is unfounded.

Given that virtually every Nigerian home in rural areas contains at least one machete, and that relatively few instances of cutlass attacks occur in rural Nigeria, it is logical to assume that the concept of crime and punishment is familiar to even the most un-enlightened, illiterate farmer. It thus insults the intelligence of law-abiding gun owners to declare that they are inherently unstable enough to commit murder, simply because they own a gun.

Personally, I love to shoot, and I love to hunt. Having shot literally thousands of rounds over the years, both on the target range and in the hunting field, I am familiar enough with my weapon to deploy it with lightning speed and deadly precision, should the need to do so arise. Anyone who shoots at my guard dogs will wind up dead in the blink of an eye, after which my attorneys will step in to see that I serve NO time, for justified self-defence.
That is the big problem.Nigerian laws are not sturdy enough to adequately protect legal gun owners from prosecution, at least in the US there is very little grey area.

Switzerland requires ALL its citizens to have firearms training, and they have the lowest crime rate in the world.
PoliticsRe: Nigerians Need The Right To Bear Arms? by kabukabu50(m): 9:52pm On Nov 16, 2011
Jakumo:
Nigerian law permits gun ownership already, 2Buff. With that license any civilian resident of Nigeria with no criminal record may LEGALLY own and use a double-barrelled shotgun or bolt-action rifle, though neither of those two categories of firearm are ideal for self-defence. Indeed, the small-print of Nigerian firearm licence booklets includes the stern admonition that the licenced weapon is authorized for use ONLY as a "hunting and gaming" instrument. Finally, by Nigerian law, ONLY serving or retired SENIOR military and law enforcement officers are permitted to legally posses handguns, and anyone else apprehended with one will either cough up serious bribe money or do time in the pokey.

To serve up rapid and profuse follow-up shots that are paramount in self-defence scenarios, ONLY a pump-action shotgun will do, but to qualify for legal
ownership of a pump, one would need to join a neighborhood vigilante group, which ought to be workable for anyone willing to spare the loose change that will buy exemption from vigilante patrol duty. With that paperwork hurdle scaled, do NOT be tempted to acquire a semi-auto shotgun, because they jam frequently and that takes precious seconds to clear. Furthermore, a seasoned hand operating a pump-action shotgun can blast away as rapidly as any autoloader, while un-jamming way faster, if needed.

Say No to semi-auto, aim true, shoot safe and NEVER waste your ammo on warning shots.
Well said grin
