If the statement about monkeys is true does that mean monkeys have an equivalent of nairaland? Do they discuss twigs and branches with thorns and the possible introduction of gloves? Just curious.

I take the promulgation of this law to be a preamble into resolving or alleviating the worrisome transportation system we have otherwise it's a right move in the wrong direction.Obviously this stems for congestion, a result of mass migration to this small city called Lagos. As much as I'd like to commend the efforts of the govt in ensuring safe measures are adhered to while using okadas I still think the main focus is diverted from the core issues which could ultimately make living in Lagos a bit more comfy.
This issues as listed below are all entwined, intricate but resolvable:
Employment should be created while emphasis is made on trade and manufacturing e.g Gather all shoemenders and put them in a factory- you've got a job from a major shoe manufacturer.
Another thing is the lack of relations & good communication within each state. If the states can partner and work together in creating a working enviroment at border towns we'll have cross/inter state flow of labour.eg you can commute 4rm neigbouring towns & cities into Lagos & out without having to reside there.
One of the best and fastest mode of transportation is the metro system.A line that runs from the outskirts & towns of Lagos will ease the congestion on the highways reducing the use of roads to a minimum.
Power, I should have mentioned first is the base and soul of any business activity without this there'll be no jobs. All this will disallow every Ibrahim, jude, sunday,Segun to join Charly Boy's club as a means of survival.
Ok at this moment I'm starting to feel like the common 9ja man whinging and analysing politics so I'll stop.

There should be proper alternatives for every law passed to cushion its effect on those that will be seriously affected. On a scale of 1-10 the move is a 2.
Spits and moves on thinking of how to arrange a moped for personal use.(and yes wear helmets)

BusinessRe: Fruit Juice Making Business by Kaestro(m): 2:45pm On Jan 02, 2009
nthnymarce:
kaestro, do u really have any idea on fruit juice production? i really need to invest.
Well I can't call it an idea-its more like the possibility of becoming succesful in an area of investment that already has a market and could very well excel while competing with the existing products.
Think about this,9ja is a very high temperate region and with the way we all consume liquid to maintain hydration at ever opportunity shows the market for refershing drinks will never ever die.Ice water was introduced into the market based on this principle so was the aftermath Pure water. The beverage companies will never cease to make profit because majority of us consume coke, fanta or any one of those drinks especially with meals. This is just based on the temprature factor now think about the nutrition factor,if you're able to convince your target market by advertisment or any other means the benefits of fruits as opposed to carbonated sugar (obvious fact) you will definately make a fortune.
Now you'll have to be careful when establishing such business as it's likely to die off due to your introductory and marketing strategy.I'll advise you start up with samples for free and combined with your research you should get a good standpoint of the public's interest in such a product.Remember Zobo drink, as much as they said it was nutritous it got killed off due to no one capitalizing on the fact that it's a recipe just like Coke,Fanta,7up etc.Even the pito being sold on the road side has a good market how much more fruit juices.Everybody know's redbull and power horse is no good to the body yet we pay ridiculous amounts just to consume it.Silly aint it?

All over the world fruit juice makers are making profits despite weather conditions .It is highly advertised due to its health benefits and in some cases status significance. Its even gone to the level of companies making fruit juice making machine.People who order fresh juices are considered health conscious which is what everyone wants to look like.
Concludingly the main point here is how you present these juices to the market, you won't be suprised if people would just buy it just because the container looks nice and posh.Packaging and presentation with proper selling strategy will make you smile to the bank porvided you're not in it for a short term.I know for sure its one of those markets that needs to be exploited, think about the jobs you'll create for the farmers who produce the fruits, think about the already waiting market ready to consume your products if it adds value to their market.
Need I say more? Anyway I'd love for someone to kick start this idea cuz it's genuine and adds not only value but creates an oppurtunity for more employment. If you need someone to brain storm over it leave ur yahoo mssger and I'll have a chat with you.

With proper manufacturing & packaging you'll go a long way.Just think of how everyone grabs a coke at the side of the road when thirsty then picture offering something more nutritous and just as refreshing.I see it larger than you can even imagine.Good idea.

Here's (this forum) is just a simple example of how issues turn out to become violent and uncontrolable when many can't state an argument without attaching sentiments. Not suprising everyone loves to play the blame game, when will each person start to become responsible for what he/she says or does? Generalisation isn't the way to go in times of dispute.Plain ignorance.Very annoying.

Your situation is non worse than kids who weren't even on drugs but yet ruined their parents life with their sticky fingers.Perhaps he's still holding on to the fact that you did "drugs".I think self development and strive towards independence will become obvious to your dad when he notices hence the trust will assume automatically.
Yes, your dad might play a part (not necessarily crucial) in your success so to believe you can't make it without him is being naive and weak.Bobo your Dad is just your biological father he ain't the controller of the universe. So take the challenge, set for a transformation which you already have and continue to do your thing.

What with the level of corruption, selfish interest, over driven pursuance of wealth and craze for superiority status in this our present generation. How are we supposed to achieve this? I'm not saying it's impossible, but a complete re-orientation is what's needed. It takes more than 85% sensible and positive minded people in every institution to move a nation like this forward at a time like this.
PoliticsRe: Haba (!), Deji Of Akure? by Kaestro(m): 1:23pm On Apr 22, 2008
The dispute stemming from the irregular hike in price of cement between dealers in Ondo state which followed by the decision of the Oba for one of the dealers to sell at the agreed inflated rate have reached a standoff.
Albeit Deji of Akure's ruling against him, one of the dealers Mr. David Oluwole Alasoniyi has refused to back down on the right to market his commodity at "his own" profit margin.

A principled man in my own words. It gladens me to know some people can still maintain good ethical values in the face of intimidation, especially coming from a so called leader in a community.I'm loving this.

Following the persistent regressive trend in majority of our economic sectors, Nigerians are continually going about their businesses with so much to debate about, so much to moan and groan about. It has become common knowledge to an ordinary 5 year old child that the country is being run by money grabbing, self supporting, power-wielding, disreputable leaders. The citizens have mastered the art of constructive political analysis so much everybody knows what is right but chooses to go wrong for economic excuses; however we are paying less attention to proffering solution to the situation, we are less concerned about actually braking this systematic down slope movement towards destruction. We are constantly neglecting our duties to the country for the sake of surviving. We have lost our sense of pride; our social values are deteriorating on a major scale, our image has become so embarrassing that we only perceive ourselves as been normal. Nigerians are being mistreated and abused all over the globe, we have assumed the title of most negative activities than can be mentioned in any deficient person. We have fine tuned the definition of success and greatness into oppression, enslavement, get rich quickly, thuggery, fraud, disregard of rule of law, nepotism, illegal enrichment etc.

As a matter of fact it will be pointless going on about the ills in our society rather it will be more progressive to channel our thoughts, arguments, anger, desperation, psyche, towards starting a mental based revolution. As the saying of “time for everything” goes we should retire the current mentality of “e go better” and go with “how can I make it better"
We are known to be very intelligent people , though very diverse but make an effort to keep peace; we are peculiar in every strange environment, we are the sixth largest oil producing nation which puts our popularity amongst other bigger nations, we were known for exporting good quality of Agricultural  materials which still exists, we are referred to as the biggest black populace, we are known to be very determined, collectively we have produced the most successful Africans at home and in the diaspora, some of our cultures expand as far as the Americas, the Caribbean and beyond. There are countless attributes that can still be taken advantage of when it comes to this nation called Nigeria so why are we still going on about the same issue everyday? I personally think in as much as we should hold our leaders accountable,we should on the other hand begin a curative process to enable this generation and the coming hold destiny in their hands as opposed to the present.

Over time I have studied many topics and comments on this forum, consequently I have come across not only great potential writers but also analysts, potential politicians, teachers, potential law enforcers, etc in most of you. This has prompted me to ask this lot of you the following questions:

Do you have any possible solutions ideas to the current wave of things in Nigeria?
If so,are you prepared to solely or jointly implement these ideas towards an impact?
If you were given the batton, where do you think should be the first point of call in terms of national development?
How long will it take from now to actually begin a re-orientation process to help restore a more adaptable enviroment?environment willing to sacrifice for Nigeria?
Is it possible to actually affect this nation by way of positive change?

All answers and ideas are welcomed, however this is the start of my contribution and hopefully it will be actualised.
Lets wake up the Einsteins,Bill Gates,Soyinkas,Mandelas,Gani Fawehimis and the likes amongst us.Lets quit the jibber jabber and get on with the programme.I am with YOU who is ready to begin the transformation.
PoliticsRe: Haba (!), Deji Of Akure? by Kaestro(m): 12:49pm On Apr 09, 2008
Although this seem like an unconfirmed report however the fact that it was written by Reuben Abati exhibits its genuiness.
Shortly put, from my observation of the past and recent's misconduct of both our political and rural leaders and even the common man in Nigeria it is becoming more glaring that the motive behind our inexplicable acts is the long lost of all ramifications of morals, the absence of civility, the continued decadence of our societal values which obviously is blamed on the economy. In my opinion this Oba acted solely on his instincts, the mentality of acquring wealth and substance by all means necessary. To be suprised at such perpetration is to deny the extent of rot and disregard for our fellow men.

What we must strive for and must not fail to execute is teaching our unborn children, the yonger generation, and perhaps the reformable youth  the age old sense of reasoning, ensuring the word success in not defined by the terms used today, educate them on responsibility, accountability and duty to family, community and the country. Each one teach one. That way our country will advance as opposed to the trend over the last  huh huh I can't remember how many years.Since the days of Shagari.

This Deji of Akure,do we know what he was before he became an Oba? And if he's always been a ruler my bet is he's just as hungry as the Cement dealer the only difference is the dealer has a job.
TravelRe: Is There Any Good Thing About Nigeria? by Kaestro(m): 3:23pm On Apr 07, 2008
I think debating this issue will further crucify the hopes and aspirations of a better Nigeria.Just on the surface I can mention one good thing about Nigeria, which is the making of knowledgable, well educated and well reasoning humans like every contributor on this forum.Majority of you (those residing abroad especially) will attest to the benefit of having spent a good amount of time in Nigeria and will definately appreciate every experience and event in those times.
Yes it appears things can't get any more worse at the moment, the question we should be asking ourselves is "are we ready to make this place a better place to live".With the amount of us who think unless we steal, cheat or kill we cannot succeed. What does the future hold for our children? Even us the coming generation have misplaced the definition of success.
To say the least, there are a million things that are good about Nigeria we are just unfortunate to be ripped off these pleasures.

I don't find the guy's statement unbelievable nevertheless I'd like to think he was thinking out loudly and didn't realise she'd heard .Perhaps he said "I've finally decided you're the one for me" but the girl heard otherwise.Or he thought he said "Will you marry me?" and something else came out.
Anyhow, as the topic goes it's mad funny.
