PoliticsRe: Lagosians Regret Voting In Fashola by Kaestro(m): 6:15pm On Aug 26, 2011
Fashola cannot over see over 18 million people, period. Talk of law enforcements, someone tell me in which country their law enforcement agents don't abuse the power.
PoliticsRe: President Jonathan's Official Statement On UN Building Bomb Blast by Kaestro(m): 5:59pm On Aug 26, 2011
On the attack, no one is safe from an enemy.

On the president's response I agree with Depointer1 and eGuerrilla, the president should confront a nation like Nigeria with adequate affirmation of his abilities given his infamous popularity for docility.

@ Beaf, Bush cannot even contend with Abacha's intelligence let alone handle 9/11 confusion. David Cameron I heard was away and his coalition partner gave a speech before the peak of the attacks in London
PoliticsRe: Do We Glorify Mediocrity In Nigeria? by Kaestro(m): 5:20pm On Aug 26, 2011
Without regurgitating the clever posts already made, yes we celebrate, glorify, honour, rejoice, praise mediocrity. Why? Because many have lost their sense of individuality, have had their minds eroded by the infectious mentality of "show business", everyone wants to somehow be a rockstar. Integrity, respect for ingenuity, hard work are values majority don't appreciate anymore. You can rarely get into an argument without someone making reference to your worth.
CelebritiesRe: Nollywood Stars Run To Pastor Adeboye For Prayers by Kaestro(m): 4:05am On Jun 10, 2011
Is it just me or is auto crash not responsible for majority of these loss of lives. Problems identified: Road Traffic irregularities, bad roads, inconsiderate and noncomplying drivers. The authorities need to invoke the planning blueprints and revamp it. Clearly our structures have contributed to shortening our lives in Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: 380 Nigerians Are Deported From The Us Every Week. by Kaestro(m): 8:27pm On Dec 13, 2010
"He without sin cast the first stone", even the immigration officer and American govt doing the deporting get their own closet calabash. Such is life. IMO traveling as an undocumented migrant shouldn't make you criminal. And for those who chose the illegal route, they should be face the consequences of their action. Life is a huge gamble.
PoliticsRe: Ogbeh To Head Ribadu’s Campaign ! by Kaestro(m): 9:38pm On Dec 09, 2010
Audu Ogbeh as portrayed will only be managing the campaign, I see no reason why that should be an impediment for Ribadu. Granted, he may have had his hands soiled from his previous associations but if he could stand and oppose OBJ during the Anambra crisis then he at least has an element of integrity. That counts. I believe PDP may have tried to use Ogbeh perhaps because of is qualities. PDP members are humans and yes, they try unsuccessfully though, to utilize the best brains they can acquire.
Although I'm not fully aware of the candidates so far however we should not be swayed by issues as trivial as this. Ribadu falls into the same category as described of Ogbeh, the OBJ tried to use him for his POTENTIALS which we can't deny he possess.

Ribadu is worth the effort, after all OBJ was a gamble, so was Yar Adua and so is every choice one has to make when it comes to voting.
TV/MoviesRe: For Real? Hollywood Eyes Nigerian Reality Show. by Kaestro(m): 5:27pm On Jul 30, 2010
This is an indication the entertainment industry in Nigeria has accrued so much attention it deserves to be showcased internationally. Shondrella's Adventures from how the writer makes it sounds groundbreaking. Already I'm imagining it showing on BET, Silverbird, DSTV.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu And Fashola In Land Scam Worth Billions by Kaestro(m): 9:19pm On Jul 13, 2010
The posters allegation however displayed has various element of consistency in it, if anything he's just expressing his/groups view on the malpractices going on under the administration of the current government. Unfortunately plenty would rather shy away and regard this as detractor. Shame plenty can do nothing.
PoliticsRe: Ibb Is Still The Only Aspirant That Can Solve The Problems O F This Country by Kaestro(m): 8:18pm On Jul 13, 2010
How sure are you to know this? Dude, I think its very ignorant to come up with such statements "ONLY". If you don't know me wait until you see my posters I can very well solve the problems of this country. cool
PoliticsRe: The Other Face Of Nigeria by Kaestro(m): 8:10pm On Jul 13, 2010
A very friendly policeman once layered a forehand on my flat cheek after being stopped for making a U-turn in front of a bank. My offence: for speaking grammar as if I was the only one that went to school. Then he went on to tell me the university his daughter attended and how she was a distinction student. Only if these guys could afford to eat well and stay off the ogogoro and weed.
TravelRe: Eko Atlantic City. . Construction Update July 2010 by Kaestro(m): 7:30pm On Jul 13, 2010
proudly9ja:
And if you really look at it, the Eko Atlantic project will cause more problems for Lagos. More people will come in seeking the 'jobs' that will be created and most of these people will be those who cannot afford to buy/rent houses in the new city thereby competing again with the already over populated 'mainlanders'.

In my opinion, I think before government goes into such a project, they need to show us figures. How many people currently stay in lagos? How many of these can afford to stay in Lagos? In 2025 or whenever its being touted Lagos will become the 3rd most populated city in the world, which group of people will dominate this population (those who can afford accommodation or those who can't)? what then is the justification for the new project?
And what is Lagos REALLY doing about the population explosion staring at us?

And I totally don't buy into all these 'its a private sector funded project' talk. That's what they said about that piece of junk currently lying fallow at Marina.
On point.

The issue here as I deduce is not opposing or displaying a negativity towards this project. It clearly is a venture directed mostly for high ROI which is well accepted however what people like myself and other answer seeking posters are asking is how the vacuum left from the current degradation of the other parts of the state will be filled. I understand cities transform into Mega-Cities out of exponential growth, population and most of all economic activity. Even considering the clustering force which is behind the location of the MC in V/I, what can be boasted of in V/I that is mutually common to the businesses there? The growth that lead to the extensions of cities like Tokyo , Toronto etc came from the necessity to create space for its over-flowing production output. Tokyo had countless innovations and technological industries competing for world market share therefore needed to expand with similar catalyst spurring other cities from Industrial growth to entertainment, real estate, information technology etc. There is always an economic driving force behind such magnitudinous expansion. What can be said of the cluster in V/I that doesn't even have boast mixture of well performing industries? What sort of industries would specifically grow out of this newly created space? Was the Tinapa project not aimed at attracting investors?
Back to the existing locations around the metropolis it's obvious that the planning system has been abandoned save for the "pressure point" approach of the current government to the development of the state which is helping resuscitate the living conditions.
My point is the government should carefully consider its urban renewal activities without creating more urban slums, opening more areas in the state to attract foreign investment will only assist in achieving the same goals.
Overall the idea is good but not much to punch in the air for.
Christianity EtcRe: Govt Bans External Loud Speakers At Religious Centres by Kaestro(m): 5:36pm On Jul 05, 2010
It's imperative that these by-laws should be implemented and any group or persons that desist should be punished accordingly.Serious fines should be metted on defaulters. I can't stop wondering what the ministry of environment and planning is doing when it comes to regulating the activities of the residents in the state. It appears they have destroyed all the planning blueprints of the state and are not running it based on pressure points. Not just noise pollution, how about stalled tankers/trailers without luminous indicators? How about unnecessary traffic jams caused by illegal parking at major religious conventions? Removal of all dangerous suicidal vehicles off the roads, continuous demolition of illegal structures. All these constitute major degradation to the quality of life in every environment.

If any of you sees the commissioner tell him to get his pension and gratuity reviewed because he's about to be ordered out of office for his inconsistency. Oh Yes people should be fired, there is no room for mediocrity.
Just in case you're wondering why I can't deliver the message, I wasn't allowed to see him when I went to the secretariat. I was met with the question "who you be" . Dem never sabi. lol

PoliticsRe: If We Must Respect The Zoning Arrangement, then We Can As Well Divide Nigeria by Kaestro(m): 10:02pm On Jun 24, 2010
@ poster. Are you suggesting the only option to resolving the zoning agreement is to divide the country? I hope not because it will only set us back. What will become of the regions dependent on the collective output of the nation ? You do have a valid argument though however division is not an option unfortunately, the beginning of restructuring the political arrangement in Nigeria starts with EDUCATION. With that comes the ability to make unbiased and realistic judgments, respect for the rule of law, civility, the mental capacity to give the best as opposed to what we have now. Without a microscopic view it's obvious majority of our leaders are stark illiterates, illiteracy is what causes a group of people to connive to take control of the country for no absolute developmental reason. The same reason why there are so many looters and cantankerous elements. We have so many illiterates against a few credible ones. Of course the former will over-power the latter.
Unless we start educating the kids in kindergarten now, they cannot continue from where the qualified and respectable few left off.

My brother lets not expect Nigeria to turn around just like that, it deserves a system overhauling which has to begin at some point.

TravelRe: Are Nigerian Hotels And Guest Houses Over-priced? by Kaestro(m): 8:42pm On Jun 24, 2010
Oh yes they are over priced and I'm talking about the sub-standard mushrooms we describe as hotels. Agreed overhead costs exceeds the average but it's no justification for the poor service and unavailability of proper facilities. Most of the owners and management lack the skills to run an efficient business. We all understand the effect of innovation, marketing strategy and competition in every business setting. Most of them remain in business even when it's not increasing in profits because of the sunk costs and hope the bait of exorbitant prices will cover their losses in which case just keeps them afloat.
For the proper hotels they are just priced according to demography, economic conditions etc so I can't say they are over-priced.
We cannot separate government's contribution to the woes of this industry though, lack of regulation is another factor.
PoliticsRe: Aondokaa, barred From Entering The United States by Kaestro(m): 7:24pm On Jun 24, 2010
I believe the involvement of the children is not necessary to implicate them perhaps they had available information on them and felt it will add more weight to the incident. Including them will dissuade other corrupt officials to consider carefully the repercussions on their family members when they engage in their activities. Personally I encourage it, unfortunately the kids are innocent in this case however punishment should extend as far as possible when it comes to corruption for these thieving officials. It will serve as a deterrent to others.
BusinessRe: Event Planning And Hall For Wedding And Parties ! by Kaestro(m): 7:39pm On May 25, 2010
Like every other business its a sure banker provided you have the mindset and tools of operation. Your principles and goals should be to provide the best possible service and of course continuity should be your watchword. If you're going into business for the sake of it then you may not last but with 120% dedication, decent developmental and competitive attitude, sacrifice and good ol HARD-WORK you will succeed. Also prepare an intensive plan upon research and have rules and principles that guide your mode of operation. Be bold and step out life is all about the gamble.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Plans Floating Cities In Niger Delta by Kaestro(m): 5:58pm On May 22, 2010
Unless the subject was misinterpreted the title is obviously a wrong description of the perceived idea. A floating city is an impossibility unless in Dubai.
Now to the point, my fellow nlers have done enough justice to this thread with almost accurate responses however my contribution is, floating city is not what we need in ND. Education, provision of enabling living standards, access to good health care, power and everything that involves human & capital development may one day spark up the improvement of existing cities.[b] Floating cities, no thanks!! BusinessRe: Is There Any Business Btw 2m – 3m, In Naija That Can Be Monitored From Abroad? by Kaestro(m): 3:36am On Dec 04, 2009
@ Poster.
I know you're looking to have business you can monitor from abroad however this is my 100kobo with such funds you can start a remarkable and long term business. Don't give up pondering what to invest on regardless of your experience, it's in the same Nigeria that people are working wonders so it's nothing new under the sun to have distrust in the air.

Furthermore have you considered buying into a business, there are several existing businesses doing averagely well but could do more with some technical knowledge, revised business structure, product/service refinement, marketing strategy, orientation and of course funding. You could research a few and you will be surprised how much less funds can generate steady income for you.

An example, as funny as it sounds horticulture has an unbelievable existing market, arts & crafts export is another good one, or why not catch the wave of the current fashion trend, get the machines for customizing clothes and make your mark, that's a large market it. I'll send you this same email and if you feel you want to brainstorm on them I'll make myself available. Do not forget the chances of multiplying your capital is largely dependent on your creativity and effort.

Bon chance!
