There was heavy explosion at the First Bank Plc along new Kano road in Azare, today 7th of November 2014 at around 10:20am.
The explosion occured at the ATM stand of the bank. With the heavy congestion of people at the ATM stand it is expected that their will be heavy casualty!
It will be recalled that there was similar explosion at a park in the same town few weeks back.
Out of the five remaining banks in the town ( two, GTB and former Intercontinental, were bombed by Boko Haram in one of their numerous bank raids) only First Bank ATM seems to function well resulting in numerous people from nearby villages and as far as Potiskum in Yobe state trooping to the First bank for regular cash withdrawer and anytime salary is paid.

PoliticsRe: Tambuwal:What The 1999 Nigerian Constitution Says About The Office Of Thespeaker by Kagarko(m): 12:08pm On Oct 29, 2014
Clerverly:
I read an article somewhere, where Oliseh Metuh of PDP, called for the resignation of Hon. Tambuwal for ditching a party on whose majority he rose to the office of the speaker house of Representative.

In his exact words: “After a thorough consideration of the matter, the NWC came to a conclusion that the Hon. Speaker, as a responsible elected officer, knows full well what is needful and honourable of him since his new party is in the minority [in the House]” he said.

I have also read some comments offline and online, when some ignorant/paid commentators have started insinuating that Hon Tambuwal May lose his office for simply not fulfilling the requirements of the law as regards the position of speaker.

It is very unfortunate that some Nigerians including public office holders are too lazy, to read the elementary sections of our Constitution, some of which are self explanatory.

Now, let us examine what Chapter V, Part 1 (Composition Of National Assembly) sections 47 -50 of the Constitution Of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria holds:

There shall be a National Assembly for the Federation which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives.

48. The Senate shall consist of three Senators from each State and one from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

49. Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the House of Representatives shall consist of three hundred and sixty members representing constituencies of nearly equal population as far as possible, provided that no constituency shall fall within more than one State.

50. (1) There shall be:-

(a) a President and a Deputy President of the Senate, who shall be elected by the members of that House from among themselves; and

(b) a Speaker and a Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who shall be elected by the members of that House from among themselves.

(2) The President or Deputy President of the Senate or the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives shall vacate his office -

(a) if he ceases to be a member of the Senate or of the House of Representatives, as the case may be, otherwise than by reason of a dissolution of the Senate or the House of Representatives; or

(b) when the House of which he was a member first sits after any dissolution of that House; or

(c) if he is removed from office by a resolution of the Senate or of the House of Representatives, as the case may be, by the votes of not less than two-thirds majority of the members of that House.

So where did PDP find the supposedly "loophole" or authority in law, in asking Hon. Tambuwal to resign? The only option left for them, is to rally their members and see if they can muster the required number when plenary resumes in decemeber, in order to satisfy Section 50, subsection 2 C as highlighted above.

Anything else is calling for anarchy!

CC; Barcanista, Omenka, Berem, Obiagelli, Neenar, Donphilopus, ibsultan, Gbawe, pataki, edcure, pendy97, and the progressives!
God bless you.

The Peoples Democratic Party had turned back two presidential aspirants who were at its national headquarters in Abuja to pick their presidential nomination forms on Tuesday.

The aspirants are Dr. Abdul-Jhalil Tafawa-Balewa and Prof. Akasoba Duke-Abiola.

First to arrive was Tafawa-Balewa, who hails from Bauchi State, and the son of Nigeria’s First Republic Prime Minister, Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa.

All the caucuses of the party, including the National Executive Council, had endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan as its sole presidential candidate, foreclosing the possibility of any aspirants angling for the party’s ticket.

PoliticsRe: Let’s Insist On Presidential Debates For 2015 by Kagarko(m): 5:32pm On Oct 27, 2014
Ayekotoo:
If I’m voted into power within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of
the past. Four years is enough for anyone in
power to make significant improvement and if I
can’t improve on power within this period, it
then means I cannot do anything even if I am
there for the next four years.” That was
President Goodluck Jonathan in February 2011.
And here is Muhammadu Buhari, two months
after Jonathan: “This campaign is the third and
last one for me, since, after it, I will not
present myself again for election into the office
of the President.”
The lesson here is a simple one: Politicians
ought to be careful about the statements they
make.
Having said that, I should also add that we
ought to acknowledge the fact that people are
allowed to change their minds. Four hours is a
long time in Nigerian politics, let alone four
years. If Jonathan and Buhari have decided to
change their minds, we should respect their
decisions. But I also believe that in the spirit of
the accountability that true democracy
demands, Nigerians deserve explanations from
both men.
This is where presidential debates will come in.
I’ll be looking forward to debates at which
Jonathan, Buhari, Atiku Abubakar and whoever
else is seeking to rule Nigeria between 2015
and 2019 are all made to confront their records
in word and deed. I believe we ought to have
at least three major presidential debates before
the election in February 2015, moderated by
credible, courageous and knowledgeable people
who can hit the candidates with tough and
uncompromising questions.
For those wont to dismiss the idea of debates
in our stomach-infrastructure-dominated
political system, I’d say that we shouldn’t let
the sad realities of today (cash-and-carry
elections) stop us from envisioning and
constructing the framework for a better future
(in which vision and intellect dominate).
Debates are a way to put some power in the
hands of the electorate, and to force candidates
to pay attention to the people who will be
deciding their fates. Let me also put forward
the eloquent argument made by Lagos State
Governor, Babatunde Fashola, at an event
organised by the Kukah Centre, in Abuja, in
September.
He said: “Debates help you to test the
candidates and be able to form an idea; that
this candidate has an idea what the problems
are. Those are the things that help people to
make choices.” He cited the example of the
best-known presidential debate in Nigerian
history, the one between M.K.O. Abiola and
Bashir Tofa, in June 1993. “Immediately, Tofa
could not answer what the price of fuel was, it
became clear to Nigerians that this was the
candidate who was disconnected… We should
not have people seeking high office without
participating in debates.”
At least, one 2015 presidential debate should
be devoted wholly to the economy. Another
should focus on the security situation – Boko
Haram, crude oil theft, ethnic militias, etc. A
third could take a more personal, less ‘policy’ –
route the one in which we expect the
candidates to defend their records and
credentials – cluelessness, bigotry, corruption
and everything in between.
I don’t think it matters which of the parties or
candidates wins the presidency, as long as
Nigerians are guaranteed a certain commitment
to improved governance; as long as whoever
that victor is realises that business cannot
continue as usual.
One big charge against the incumbent is that
he is clueless and incompetent; and not in
control of his government. I think the problem
– and even his prominent critics like Lamido
Sanusi and Tunde Bakare have put forward this
argument – is that we have a good man who
has allowed himself to be surrounded – and
derailed – by all sorts of shady characters, to
whom his natural proclivity for loyalty binds
him. He needs to be reminded that Nigeria
needs a decisive and visionary leader more
than it needs a ‘nice’ man. And we need a
President who is not only in charge, but is also
seen to be in charge.
President Jonathan, should he get a second
term, actually now has an incentive to rise to
the challenge of the Nigerian Presidency: If we
assume that he has pandered to all sorts of
interests because he’s got an eye on re-
election, he will no longer have that pressure
upon him in 2015.
On their own part, one big charge against
Buhari and Atiku is that they are ‘serial losers’
and ‘failed politicians’, with nothing fresh to
offer. That’s an ignorant thing to say, if you ask
me, considering that before winning the
presidency of Brazil in 2002, Luiz Inácio Lula da
Silva had lost three previous elections (1989,
1994 and 1998). The losses didn’t stop him
from eventually becoming one of the most
popular Brazilian presidents ever, and a
successful one at that.
Two years after losing the presidential election
to John F. Kennedy in 1960, Richard Nixon ran
for the Governorship of California. He lost,
prompting the widespread belief that his
political career was over. The morning after the
election, he famously announced to reporters,
at a press conference: “You won’t have Nixon
to kick around anymore because, gentlemen,
this is my last press conference”. Five years
later, he changed his mind, and went on to win
the 1968 presidential election.
It is in the very nature of politics for
persistence and the demonstration of staying-
power to be a defining element.
But beyond ambition and persistence, clarity of
purpose and a sense of vision are for me the
greatest qualities needed in persons aspiring to
elected office. And the leading contemporary
Nigerian model for that, in my opinion, is the
outgoing Governor of Lagos.
In his demonstration of his grasp of the issues
that matter the most to Lagos, Fashola never
fails to impress. At the Kukah Centre debate,
he told the audience that he came to office
with the full understanding of the city’s
residents and their wishes, and its problems,
based on two things: One, the fact that he’d
lived in Lagos almost all his life, and two, his
four-year-stint as Chief of Staff, which gave
him experience in the workings of a
complicated government system. When he
came to office, he said, he knew what needed
to be done urgently.
“Fundamentally, I saw the need to restore law
and order,” he said, adding that it explains why
he focused on equipping and motivating the
police force, through the creation of the Lagos
State Security Trust Fund. He said he met a
situation in which policemen were expected to
buy their own uniforms, and to “confront
criminals without ammunition.”
He also said something that cannot be
disputed: “In seven years, I have sat in traffic
with the people who elected me. I have never
used a siren. That is what gives me the moral
right to challenge those who do.” He was
alluding to the widely reported incident a few
years ago in which he arrested an army officer
for driving against traffic. “We didn’t have
governors arresting soldiers, it [used to be] the
other way round.”
Looking around the crowded field that is
Nigerian politics today, I can’t think of any
other person more qualified than him to be
used as a yardstick for the sort of President
Nigeria needs at this time. (I’m open to a
debate on this!)
It’s a shame, however, that a man who is
undoubtedly one of the most qualified for the
job of president isn’t even in the running.
Perhaps, we can work out an arrangement in
which Fashola can at least debate alongside the
main contenders, when the presidential
debates kick off. Even if he won’t himself be a
candidate.

PoliticsRe: Impeachment Plot Against Fayose: Security Reports Indict Assembly Members by Kagarko(m): 5:52am On Oct 27, 2014
Ayed44:
Strong indications emerged in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State yesterday that the rumoured impeachment move against Governor Ayodele Fayose was not hoax.

A security source, who craved anonymity, confirmed to THISDAY yesterday that independent reports conducted by major security outfits in the state, pointed to the fact that there were clandestine moves by some lawmakers to remove the governor.
The governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) dominated House of Assembly have been embroiled in crisis since he was swornin over allegation by Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the lawmakers from the opposition caucus were allegedly plotting to impeach the governor.

But the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Adewale Omirin, who is the leader of APC in the assembly, his deputy, Hon. Adetunji Orisalade and the Majority Leader, Hon. Churchill Adedipe, had stoutly refuted the allegation, branding it as a wild imagination of the PDP.
Omirin further went to counsel Fayose against heating up the polity and stoking the fire of disunity, saying such action would not be in the interest of his administration and the people of the state.
However, while some people took Fayose’s allegation with a pinch of salt on the premise that it could be a blackmail to browbeat the lawmakers to supporting him, a security source confirmed that the litany of reports conducted by agencies in the state confirmed such.

“What was contained in the reports of some major security agencies confirmed that the lawmakers still owe allegiance to some people within and outside the state.
“Reports confirmed that there were pressure from some external and internal forces on the lawmakers to unsettle the governor.
“And when you talk of a set of lawmakers unsettling the governor, it could mean to destabilise his government, make him functionless and ineffective, to cause chaos or ultimately to impeach him. We knew that the speaker is a peace-loving person, but the burden of loyalty might pose a serious problem to him as a party man.
“But we are closely monitoring the situation and the recent reports show that the resistance by the people had made some of the lawmakers to backdown on their action.

“So the mindset of the lawmakers had changed and I believe there will be peace between the two arms in no distant time,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fayose has alerted members of the public on activities of some fraudsters, operating fake facebook accounts in his name, with the intention to use them to dupe unsuspecting members of the public.
Fayose in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, yesterday, warned members of the public against falling victims of the fraudsters, operating the fake facebook accounts.
The governor who said he was compelled to once again alert the public on activities of the fraudsters said money was being demanded from people by the fake facebook operators in exchange for government contracts.
Warning the public to beware of fraudsters, Fayose said: “It has come to our notice that some facebook accounts have been opened by some fraudulent elements in the name of Fayose.

“The accounts are being used to dupe unsuspecting members of the public. Last week, we alerted the public on a certain Dr A.U Richard with phone number: 08162404959, who is among the operators of the fake facebook accounts.
“Another operator goes by the name Mike Ikochi, with phone number: 08123254564. As at today, the fraudsters are yet to desist from their nefarious activities, and we wish to warn members of the public not to relate with anyone, claiming to be Fayose on facebook.
“Already, we have contacted facebook owners on the fraud and anyone who does business with whoever that is parading himself as Fayose on facebook does so at his or her own risk.” http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/impeachment-plot-against-fayose-security-reports-indict-assembly-members/192340/
If he commits any sin against the state that is impeachable. Is better they impeach him than allow a criminal run the state dry.

Descartes:
State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gabriel Achong

By Okon Bassey in Uyo

At attempt by aggrieved militants to blow up the major bridge that links Akwa Ibom and Cross River States has been foiled by security operatives in Akwa Ibom State.

The bridge links Itu and Odukpani local government areas of Akwa Ibom and Cross River State respectively and is popularly called Calabar-Itu Head Bridge. shocked shocked shocked

Three suspects have been arrested and items recovered from them included six super power 90 explosives, five blasting laps, three rolls of detonating cords, one bundle of extra detonating cord, and one Honda Accord 1997 model.

Those arrested in connection with the planned bombing of the bridge were Boronyefa Olorogun alias General Bofa from Rivers State; Samuel Coleman Yaw, a Ghanaian resident in Bakassi LGA of Cross River State, and Monday Anthony of Ikang village still in Bakassi LGA. embarassed embarassed

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gabriel Achong, who paraded the suspects at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan-abia, said the arrest was made possible through intelligence report received on plans by the aggrieved militants to blow up the bridge.

Describing the incident as an attempted terrorist attack, the Police Commissioner revealed that on September 20, the State Police Command received information that a group of aggrieved militants planned to blow up the Calabar/Itu bridge.

According to him, upon thorough and intensive surveillance, on October 5, two suspects were arrested after being trailed from Odukpani, Cross River State axis to the Calabar-Itu bridge while the mastermind escaped.

Achong explained that for three weeks a combined team of the Army, Police and SSS had maintained surveillance on the bridge until the suspects were arrested when coming to finally plant the explosive.

"he mastermind, Boronyefa Olorogun alias General Bofa escaped but after a thorough and rigorous search by combined team of Police and Directorate of State Service (DSS), the suspect was traced and arrested in Yanagoa, Beyelsa state on October 17,” he said. shocked shocked shocked

Stressing the need for members of the public to volunteer useful information on crime prevention and detection in the society, the State Police Boss said without the information earlier given to security operative it would have been another thing if the militants had succeeded in blowing up the bridge.

Imagine this are the real terrorists they are the brethren of Charles Okah and co.

Suppose they are Muslims they the headline will be that Boko Haram kingpins and Commanders were arrested and all sort of nonsense will be said about them.

As a true northerner I demand that they are giving life jail term the same way Kabir Sokoto was given. And they should be quized as to the where about of those explosives.

And that my submissions is that they are the one doing all this rubbish in the North. As uptil this moment no suspect was caught red handed with this types of explosives including those in illegal detention in the name of allegations labelled against them.

Uptil the day Kabiru Sokoto was prosecuted he denied any involvement in the bombing at Madalla church.

May God help us in our country .

Molecular Biology. The more one read the course the less I understand. Imagine those molecular terms. its the only course I got a pass during my degree program. If not for this I would have graduated with first class lower. Alhamdulillah I graduated with second class upper.

CelebritiesRe: I Have No Boyfriend And Am Not Looking For One Either - Genevieve Nnaji by Kagarko(m): 12:48am On Oct 10, 2014
KingEbukasBlog:
Superstar actress Genevieve Nnaji poured it all out in “The Truth” chat with Olisa Adibua on her love life and past relationship . The 35 year old actress revealed about her first love , her present relationship status and described her ideal guy . Read all of it below :

About her first love
He was a very, very, handsome man. A long time ago, very handsome man, trust me.

Let’s talk about relationships – are you currently in one? Are you looking at settling down at some point? I know you’ve heard that question a lot of times but tell us the truth now.

I think everyone is prioritizing and so am I. It’s not like I don’t want to settle down, want somebody and until I find that person, there’s no thoughts of me settling down. I’m not looking, I’m a woman, we are not allowed to look.

When was the last time you had a boyfriend… do you have one now?
I don’t have a boyfriend now.

Ok, so what are you looking for in a man? Your ideal guy, what are you looking for in a man?

I am that person that eats with her eyes, like I need to be attracted to you. Definitely. There has to be physical attraction that will draw me to you but at the end of the day, it’s your mind I’m going to fall in love with. I’m probably looking for a friend, someone who shares a like mind amd somebody who is confident. Aww, I love tall guys. I’m short you have to think of the kids.

Don’t you think a lot of guys are scared of you now?

They will say she is good looking, successful, she’s got her own career, let me leave her alone, I can’t handle that kind of wife. I can’t tell her what to do.
Then he is a baby, a boy. I’m not looking for a boy. Men don’t let artificial things like that intimidate them.

How then do you intend to live your life as a woman ?
PoliticsRe: Adamawa Acting Governor Instructs Lawyers To Appeal Court Judgement Sacking Him by Kagarko(m): 3:44pm On Oct 08, 2014
[quote author=lekanolas post=26966811]Adamawa State Acting Governor Umar Fintiri on Wednesday said he has instructed his lawyers to appeal against Federal High Court judgment removing him from office.

An Abuja High Court had earlier on Wednesday asked Fintiri to vacate office as acting governor of the state.

The court noted that his swearing-in as acting governor was illegal and unconstitutional.

The court presided over by Justice Ademola Adeniyi also ordered that the former deputy governor of Adamawa state, Bala Ngilari, be sworn in as the substantive gove

I expected it. Unfortunately for Ngilari it was Fintiri that accepted his resignation letter. Ngilari is a betrayer.
He shall soon meet his water loo.
Agenda Agenda Agenda. It will definitely fail. Infact it has failed already.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Total Eclipse Of The Moon Occurs Wednesday by Kagarko(m): 10:49am On Oct 07, 2014
zeemahn:
LAGOS—Sky watchers and observers of the lunar system will
notice an extremely rare cosmic sight on Wednesday, October
8, when a total lunar eclipse is expected to occur in different
parts of the World.
The total eclipse of the moon will result in a clash
simultaneous rising of the sun in what scientists have called
“selenelion,” a phenomenon that celestial geometry says
cannot happen.
During the lunar eclipse, the sun and moon will be exactly 180
degrees apart in the sky. In a perfect alignment like this
(called a “syzygy”), such an observation would seem
impossible.
The images of both the sun and moon are expected to be
lifted above the horizon by atmospheric refraction. This will
allow people on Earth to see the sun for several extra minutes
before it actually has risen and the moon for several extra
minutes after it has actually set.
As a consequence of this atmospheric trick, watchers in
different locations will have a chance to observe this unusual
sight firsthand, with the possibility of simultaneously seeing
the sun rising in the east while the eclipsed full moon is
setting in the west.
Believing in this info will completely deprive some people their faith.
If it happens so be it as destined by God. Nothing happens without the consent of the Supernatural being (Allah)
