Politics › Re: Nigeria Ranked 22nd Most Democratic Country In Africa, 108 In The World by kapelvej: 4:35pm On Jan 12, 2019 |
chosengocap: Today in history: Do you remember the 2012 fuel subsidy removal rally and strike? If you have forgotten, it took place from Jan 6-12, 2012. It got to a peak on Jan 8, 2012. Background fact January 1, 2012, GEJ led FG increased fuel pump price from N65/ltr to N141/ltr so that subsidy can be totally removed! Voila! # OccupyNigeria protests erupted in Lagos and some other cities. NLC, TUC, Save Nigeria Group, civil society organizations, Nollywood celebrities, ACN and opposition Politicians etc took turns to address the rally at Gani Fawehinmi memorial park at Ojora, Lagos to denounced the subsidy removal. The strike paralyzed the country economy for about one week. In the midst of the strike, FG backtracked and reduced the pump price to N97/ltr after series of negotiations with the Labour unions to call off the strike. Fast forward to 2015. PMB led FG said subsidy was a fraud, that there is nothing like subsidy. They promised to fix the refineries, that Nigeria won't import fuel anymore. Has it been done? NO! May 2016, PMB increased pump price from N97/ltr to N145/ ltr, claiming Subsidy has been removed. No rally, no protest, no strike from actors of 2012 strike .....even from Nigerians! # Jazzed ? NASS found out that FG has been paying subsidy unappropriated! Suddenly, the lid broke, FG was paying subsidy , despite claims of its removal! FG claimed it was Nnpc that was paying and not FG NNPC says they are not paying subsidy, but it's "differential", after more pressure from suspecting public, they renamed it "under recovery" . Oil marketers threatened to stop importation of fuel in Dec 2018 if their "subsidy" payment was not paid. FG quietly paid . Guess what, this year, subsidy funds is in the 2019 budget! N1.1trn! .. as they are tired of defending indefensible Question: Why are we not buying fuel at N97/ltr all these while (from 2016) when FG is still paying subsidy? Where are SNG, NLC, TUC, Civil society groups, Nollywood celebrities, eminent participants etc ? Who is occupying Nigeria today? oga, I beg, copy right permission, can I copy and past on my facebook wall, biko |

gbagyiza: seriously, i am regretting advocating for PMB in 2015. I was called all sort of names in my former office, even being referred to as buhari's boy. I have to openly say my mind that i had confidence in him then but i was dissapointed by his government inability to do well mostly in two areas; 1. His ability to divide the country by his one sided appointments that favour mostly his people. 2. Herdsmen killing of innocent Nigerians mostly christian communities n his inability to tackle them. This is d reason i prefer a candidate that will take all Nigerians along n do the right thing without fear n favour in other to keep Nigeria safe. My brother, you did no wrong by supporting him then, but the people I am scared of are those that are still saying PMB is the best man for the job |

TooNoisy: Eh yah, Reno also predicted Jonathan would win in 2015.
Truth is that Buhari will win.
North West will go to Buhari - 18.9million votes for grab. Buhari will win 90%.
North East will be split 50/50. Atiku will win Adamawa, Taraba and Gombe. Buhari will win Borno, Yobe and Bauchi.
North Central will also be split 50/50. Buhari will win Kogi, Nasarawa and Niger. Atiku will win Kwara, Benue and Plateau.
Atiku will win South East by 95% - but there are only 8.8 million votes.
South South will go Atiku but by 65%. Buhari will win Edo and make some gains in Akwa Ibom and Delta. Atiku will win the rest but by smaller margins than Jonathan especially in Cross River where Duke will eat into Atiku's votes. Overall, about 10 millions all for grabs. Truth is that Atiku will not get the huge support Jonathan got from the South South. You can see from Wike's body language.
South West will go to Buhari by 60% and with 14.6milloin votes for grabs. There are 6 APC governors and the combination of Osinbajo and Tinubu will be too much for Atiku. Atiku only has a chance in Ekiti and Osun; besides PDP has not focused much on South West - I wonder why.
NW and SW represent 47% of Nigerians voting population and they both will vote Buhari. I wonder how Atiku will win. Which of the Edo is Nuhari going to win, is it the Edo in North West ? |

winj3: Pal,
There is clear evidence that Amnesty International is run by the CIA and other western security forces. If any African country start to progress against any form of economic and social programs they do something to tarnish it so you can go back to square one.
A destabilized Africa means big business for western companies and government exploitation.
Stupid talk does not fix Africa's problems - use some commonsense! I read your message I was happy with your level of engagement, but you disappointed yourself by ending up with insults, it is fine, that was the APC has turned this Nigerians to-Nothing but bitterness Back to the question, when Amnesty discredited the last government same way they are doing now, the people in power today celebrated and danced, they benefitted from it even when the amnesty report's led to the none sale of weapons to fight Boko Haram, the people in power today were happy, they knew the failure of the last government will be to their advantage. If Buhari really meant well for the country, he would not have supported amnesty when they refuse to sell ammunitions to the last govt. to fight insurgency. In conclusion, I support what you are saying wholeheartedly, but the government we have today in Nigeria is not different from any of the past. Again I say, you write, well, you reason well, please stop being abusive |
