When subsidy is removed, estimated billing will be abolished. For now it has been capped at a reasonable level. There's a news of several DisCos who were given hefty fines for 'overcharging customers with estimated bills' I'm not saying it will be a perfect landing but it'll definitely be better than the current state... WantsandMore: will this improve service delivery too? What's the fate of customers on estimated billing? |

Let me expound Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is fully owned and controlled by the FG. TCN is responsible for electricity transmission and electricity trading amongst other tasks. Removal of subsidy will involve the unbundling of TCN (this is in the pipeline). Current rate of power to end users is cheap. The FG is subsidizing yet still owing GenCos. When subsidy is removed, GenCos will fix their rates (in line with NERC guidelines) and get to trade with (and get paid by) DisCos directly. This will improve revenue and profit... Same scenario is applicable to the downstream oil industry...Mpeace: How does fg subsidy affect power generating firms. |

This matter is waiting for SEC at 'Aluta' junction. essentialone: Most stockbroking firms now can be rated less than 30% in Efficiency and Effectiveness. NGX, SEC, and CSCS will pretend that they are not aware.
Soon, they will no longer be able to pretend about it. |

This too... KarlTom: The Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, Dr Umaru Kwairanga, has disclosed that two companies in the Dangote Industries Group will be listed on the exchange soon.
Kwairanga made this revelation on Tuesday during a closing-gong ceremony in honour of the Senate Committee on Capital Market and Institution’s visit to the NGX headquarters in Lagos.
He said, “As at last week, the president of Dangote assured me that the Dangote Refinery is going to be listed on this market very soon. He also said that apart from the refinery, he is going to list the fertiliser company (Dangote Fertiliser Limited). This is a commitment from the private sector...

Very correct! Everything seems to indicate that NASCON and Rice have already been absorbed (just waiting for official declaration). Even DS did not release UFS for Q4 2023. Let's wait for the outcome of the Board Meeting on 28th Feb... yMcy56: NASCON So far, there's no published newsletter on NGX for Board Meeting.... Can we say there won't be any more Board Meeting from NASCON, and that, the final dividend from NASCON will come from DANGFOODS as Interim Div.....together with that of DANGSUGAR? Let's be watching sha.... The Board Meeting of Sugar will throw more light on this. Just thinking out loud ni o. |

FX losses will only adversely affect coys without foreign links (branches, assets, etc). Yes the big players will record 'FX losses' but they will also capitalize on these 'losses'. FBNH did just that and I believe other big players like the Dangote Group will do likewise... Mpeace: But fx losses for nigerian companies will continue even in q1 2024 due to continuous devaluation of the Naira. So its really hard to say what happens after AFS. But I expect them to be consistent in dividend payout. |

Possible. Someone's head might roll for such an error... Man's shocked being a newbie... Frangel: More likely human error inputting the wrong bid units than hacking. Example, broker keys in the CSCS account number in the volume field instead. Not new.
Looks like they sold directly from your friend's account. He should check his statement so they don't pass any of the costs to him.

You understand the game... ndept: Well said. For the purpose of education, so many people don't know the numerous benefits accrue from being a director or majority shareholder in a company. Some of these includes the power to influence the choice of contractors supplying goods to the company, power to appoint people into juicy positions in the company etc. Why do you think Tony quickly fend off Otedola from transcorp. Same reason Jim Ovia, Otedola and others have been busy acquiring the shares of their various banks in every slight opportunity in order to have controlling power in their banks. |
