You kept the best point for last... Mpeace: They know how to play the game. Go to UK you will hardly see any foreign currency aprt from the pounds, and you hardly send their pounds out. They also highly restrict trades in foreign goods especially food items. They bring all sorts of barriers in the name of standards and test that ensure that you hardly import. They consume mostly UK items and still export to african countries while rating our goods as substandard. They also have many multinational companies that like shell etc that bring in lots of revenue. They also somehow benefit from our poverty and corruption such that we provide them with cheap labour, fund some of their institutions through billions we (and other african and asians) pay as school fees etc most of their banks and real estate are financed with stolen money from africa. Finally they have a very very effective tax system. |

I thought of this too especially now that Barbican/Oba is 'officially' back in the mix I sincerely hope he will allow Ote work his magic... However, that amount is HUGE! Whatever the financial instruments are needs to be revealed... Streetinvestor2: .It could be recovered bad loans with interest written off in all this previous yrrs since it is no dollars revaluation. |

I went over the FBN report again and I noticed the highlighted entry. I can only wonder what those "financial instruments" are ?? That is a massive figure especially in Q4 2023. (If we remove that entry FBN will see red.) Sterling and FCMB didn't have such in their reports...

There are levels to this thing considering the $Ote factor EPS is 6.42 which is not a far cry from 8.00 However, I believe it is a strong statement of the belief of the Board that the Company will maintain the upward trajectory and continue to make profit... Lion123: Pardon my ignorance. Geregu is paying N20 billion dividend, but only made N16b profit. Pls where is the extra N4b coming from. Same as last year. |

If I bought XYZ at #2 last year and it is currently #15 with a potential dividend 'earning' of 12k p.s.. However, it has dropped to #11.5 today Do you think I should wait for the 'earning' or cash out? Not everyone is an 'investor'. A large majority are 'traders'... thebargainhunte: The transcorp power segment continues to be the engine power of transcorp plc. Figures from them beat Geregu hands down. Imagine having a revenue of #151 billion against Geregu #82 billion and a profit before taxation of #50 billion against #24 billion. If not due to excessive os, transcorp plc should not be trading below #100. Their result is awesome. |

This information is largely based on available data AND knowledge of the Power Industry. 1. Someone already mentioned the disparity in the % free float. This is an important metric. 2. The efficiency of Transcorp plants is poor and this is tantamount to losses (it’s synonymous to flying a plane at half rated capacity, you will spend same amount on fueling but revenue is halved). 3. We should realize that Transcorp Power is not standing alone so it does not give us a definite picture of their total revenue (= energy charge plus capacity charge). 4. The share price is NOT exclusively determined by institutional financials. Finally, the market has a mind of its own... LILBIMS: omo TRanscorp dey show me pepper likewise Jaiz bank, but I believe Transcorp is a very good hold for the long term because of its power generating section, transcorp generates more power than Geregu and look at Geregu's price per share, I'm open to discussion on this topic tho
