Education / Can Any Good Thing Come Out Of A Public Secondary School by kaycast(m): 11:25am On Mar 01, 2010 |
the collapse of the public school is it the fault of the government, the teachers or are we going to blame the students, most people cannot send their children to public school, the children of the rich go to only private school, the government as neglected it. i went to a public secondary school, where the roof leaks when its raining, rays of sun come in attimes, the teachers act negligent, all they mostly do is gossip and sell things in their office, why is that so? are they under paid and why? i think this is where the government come in, its like the government has given up on public school, they are also to blame, i think they need to look into this issue. The students on another angle are mostly very un serious, they want to break all the rules, they are not ready to be mentored or moulded so i sit down and think can any good thing come out from a public secondary school? Well i graduated from a public school some few years back and am in my final year in the university studying a good course, and i can say despite all that took place in my secondary school i have made up my mind to be the best, so i think it greatly depends on the student. what do u think? |

For most of us our problem is not even to develop our nation, our problem is how to leave the country, to where i ask you? i still wonder why foreign countries like to employ the best brain in Africa, does that not show self centered nature? why won't people who have the expertise stay here in Nigeria to create a change. Its high time leadership is a course for all in Nigeria and Africa |
Education / Re: White Verus Black by kaycast(m): 10:51am On Mar 01, 2010 |
Underdevelopment and Education in Africa There is nowhere in Africa an indigenous education system designed to meet African needs There can be no true economic development without education of and by African’s for African purposes. Neither can there be democracy and peace without a populous prepared to be both self-governing and mutually respectful with a commitment to Africanization, leaving behind the divide and conquer hatreds of colonialism which are the source of so much of current internal strife. Beyond the influence of family and religion, education is a key to the prevention of such events as the Hutus and Tutsis and human emancipation. The basic issues for an educational policy designed to liberate Africans from their state of decency deal with concept of man, his role in a special historical context, and the right perspective on which to base education work. This education must be centripetally oriented-base on local realities and directs its intellectual efforts towards the achievement of cultural freedom. Macleans A. Education / White Verus Black by kaycast(m): 12:03pm On Feb 28, 2010 |
i still cant understand why at this level, we Africans cannot build our own curriculum, have our own textbooks, do researches and establish our own technology? In primary, secondary and the university most of what we have is what the white man has produced for us, curriculum and textbooks, why does this have to be so? Am not saying what the white man gives us is crap, but i feel they have their own selfish interest, and truthfully no one can solve our problems for us if we ourselves cant When are we going to start building and bringing courses that Africans need ? We need our own people to look within and try to solve the varying problems we're facing today, or what do you think?

Education / Re: Re Branding Should Start From Schools. by kaycast(m): 11:33am On Feb 28, 2010 |
Hazran i completely agree with you apart from being the best African country, we would also be envied around the world, thats by the time we begin to explore our full potentials. Talking about re-branding starting from schools, thats the truth, our educational system needs a revolution, because we need to begin to produce the kind of leaders we want, the school is majorly responsible for this. www.nigerian-youth..com

Education / Re: Is There Any Strong Charity Organisation Established In Nigeria by kaycast(m): 9:47am On Feb 26, 2010 |
There are so many, but the problem with we Nigerians is that if its not foreign, then its not good, there a lot, but people prefer to join what is known, but the irony is "what is big today was once small yesterday". There are charity organizations in dire need of donations and membership, but in Nigeria you'll need connection to even have members, we need to begin to change our orientation in Nigeria. i know of a particular one initiated by someone i know its called SHARP EDGES INITIATIVE and there are also a host of others. www.nigerian-youth..com

Education / Re: Five Steps To Break Free From Bad Habits by kaycast(m): 9:35am On Feb 26, 2010 |
Nice post dear 1) you must take responsibilities for your bad habits; that is to say people like blaming other people or things for one thing or the other in their life, so if you want to change, take responsibilities for every of your actions. 2)You must have a goal or target; most people want to change, but they dont have an idea what they want to become, you must have something you're working towards, so that when you get there you are aware you are there and not just running a race that has no end. 3)work out a strategy; most people dont have a strategy on how they want to achieve anything, thats why such exercise become cumbersome at the end of the day, a strategy is a step by step guide on how you wish to achieve your goal. 4)applaud yourself at every achievement; in cognitive learning in psychology, it says that every habit or action or achievement that is applauded will be strengthened, that is to say when you begin to achieve your goals praise yourself or appreciate youself, this further strengthens such new habit and gives you a sense of fulfillment. 5)have a dead line; no matter how hard a habit is to be learned you should have a time at leasy you should have mastered such habit, if not you have given room to longevity, which might have no end actually. for example you are always late for everything. 1) never give an excuse or a reason why you are always late. 2) i want to always arrive 10 mins before any meeting 3) i would sleep early, set my alarm etc 4) at every point you achieve this celebrate yourself. 5)within two months i want to have mastered this habit www.nigerian-youth..com

Education / Re: Jamb And Craft by kaycast(m): 9:08am On Feb 26, 2010 |
thats true, those people are out to make their money, but my advice for you is to follow the curriculum given by jamb itself, try out past questions, if you attend any lesson, you can concentrate on the positive things they have to say, make sure you understand at least 8o% of the topics given in the jamb curriculum, interact with other student, finally put your trust in God, only him can make it happen. www.nigerian-youth..com

Education / Re: University Of Abuja Deserves Better Leadership by kaycast(m): 12:31pm On Feb 24, 2010 |
its almost like that in all schools in Nigeria, Nigeria is in great need of good leaders who will do what is right, they keep using favouritism as a way of bringing in student, these are the same students who have jobs waiting for them after school, and eventually they push them into the system as our politicians and leaders. We are going to prune out all these people during our time, trust nothing can stop us, Nigeria must go forward. www.nigerian-youth..com

Education / Re: What's The Secret To Success In JAMB? by kaycast(m): 11:54am On Feb 24, 2010 |
What kind of citizen would tell the other to do something as dumb as going the wrong way to pass jamb, these are the kind of people that turn out to be the BAD LEADERS Nigeria is infested with, dont u people think its high time we begin to do things the right way, am not preaching here, am talking about ethiques that can popel a nation forward, its a pity some of us still think like that, i truly understand its not really our fault, thats what our dear nation as led us to. Jamb is not the only way you can enter the university, there are other ways , so its not a do or die affair and truthfully i have my reservations about Jamb, i have seen people who are extremely brilliant and intelligent, yet they failed jamb , so what are we talking about? unless of course Jamb as changed, if cheating is the only way you can pass jamb then i tell you, opt for another option, its a matter of integrity, on the other side it is very possible for you to prepare very well, which you should anyway, and by Gods grace you will excell. www.nigerian-youth..com
