Does it mean that once they agree to sponsor the maintenance £1270 (self) and £600 (wife and child) that we could literally access that fund upon request from the company once granted visa.

For example if I need all the money would they grant me after the Visa is secured?

Sounds funny, you only get your salary. The letter is to help you not present a POF.
I hope you understand now.

True.. it’s good to ask and get answers in the right context.

Your case may be different from the Indian guys.
I had almost your case but slightly diff.
My course was meant to end in July around 24th, but because I secured a job in March and my employer wanted me to begin in July, I had to get my lecturer step in form me. I was gurried through the course, finished 2nd of July and started the job 5th July but on Tier4, then switched to Skilled worker visa.

It was possible because it was nearing the end your course and the letter was needed because the company wanted you to swith immediately.

Abeg, what’s the latest on DVLA delays? Is the situation better now? I intend to travel out in the next 2 months or so, and I want to send my BRP for driver’s license. Make the thing no go hang ooo. embarassed embarassed

There was a post here on how you can get it faster, and it works cos I used the address as well.
Apparently, you are sending directly to the processing office whereas the address on the envelope sent to you is the mail receiving centre, hence the delay.

You could enclose an envelope for special delivery for safe return of tour BRP.
I posted mine 31st Dec 2021 and received it 11th Jan 2022.

Hi Kaylov12. I hold an offer for secondary maths at edge hill University UK, sept 2022.
Congratulations on your admission.

(1) How long was the entire visa duration (the visa length). Was it 12 months, or 14months? For example if you started study Sept 2020, what month did the visa expire
?

I got a 12 month Visa. Sept to August 2021

(2) The health surcharge paid during pgce visa application. Is the pgce course treated as less than 12 calendar months or equal to 12 calendar months? Because the costs are different.

Paid 12 months' worth, then £300

(3) Studying a shortage subject, maths, are jobs offers with visa sponsorship very common or are they hard to come by, especially as one progresses to the second school placement.

YES, Sponsorship is very common

(4) Are schools in the academic trust actually looking to sponsor a maths teacher in the actual sense, or is it just on paper?

Most Academy Trusts offer sponsorship. Be sure to apply to the ones that are in the skilled worker sponsors list on gov.uk. There are a lot of schools in England in need of maths teachers. Check TES maths jobs to confirm this, and it is same every year. As long as you prepare well and pass the interview, there is a 75% chance you will get the job.

Don't bother your pretty head on jobs yet, the course is more stressful than the job especially when you train in schools with strong maths dept. Focus on passing the 3 assignments and your placements, jobs will keep pouring of your feet.

I'll leave it here. I really appreciate your response and thanks very much in anticipation PS kindly help a curious brother. God bless you.

Thanks so much quick response @kaylove12

Please do you have info of any school that runs PGCE for April/May intake?
NO, it runs with Secondary School Terms (September/October start), but may end in June depending on Uni.

@kaylove12

will i only fill the application in department of education site?

I believe by this you mean UCAS. Complete application on UCAS including 3 unis of your choice. Leave it to UCAS for the school to contact you.

How soon can one get sponsored by school during or after the program?

Teaching vacancies usually begin to.flood TES website as early as January, apply to school under a TRUST or check that the schools are or are with Trusts enlisted on the skilled Visa sponsors list on gov.uk. I got an offer that I turned down in Feb and got another with sponsorship in March. I was barely half way through my PGCE. Too many schools woth Maths teacher shortage in UK.

Which part of England is more likely to job on time before or after training

Go onto TES website too many Maths jobs

Let me pause for now, i still have other questions if i will not be bothering you

Thanks so much

Oh really. That's really good to know. On the official website, it wasnt clear at all because it just stated £470 as the blanket rate for the Health surcharge per person. Was that the same amount that was discounted for you at 25%?
It's the same for adult and children on Tier 4

I would like to know which airline one can fly from Nigeria to UK

KLM and airfrance seems to be the logical one to take, but there's this confusion about needing transit visa or not. Has anyone flied them recently?

https://www.klm.com/travel/ng_en/campaigns/nigeria_flight_schedule.htm
Check Skyscanner for all flights and see which has the best deal. Airmaroc fly Lagos to LHR and Gatwick now too.

I’m familiar with this scenario but I don’t know of anyone who switched midway his/her studies and that is the basis of my question.
It doesn't work that way and I figured this is common knowledge. Graduate jobs come in-term to resume upon programme completion.

Tell that person to graduate first and use PSW to apply. You can't switch even before you graduate
Why so? I got a job with sponsorship in Feb, not even half way through my programme. It saves the cost of GRADUATE VISA, that eventually doesn't count towards settlement.

He/she should take the job if he is apply to stay in that field or with the employment for the next two years.

International license (which is valid for one year) is required if the person wants to drive on arrival to the Uk. The normal naija license is not allowed/recognised.

I beg to differ, any license outside the UK license is INTERNATIONAL. Just like I will say I have international work experience in my field as a Nigerian.
I believe making a special driving license by FRSC is only a means for income generation. My brother moved to UK from Saudi Arabia and used the normal license with no reprimand, why should the normal Nigeria driving license be inferior if there were no ulterior motives?
PS I am using normal license.

What are your thoughts about PGCE secondary chemistry, she is TRCN registered and practicing in a govt secondary sch in Nigeria

PGCE secondary chemistry is a prospect but in the UK science is taught 3 in 1 in the first 3 years (KS3), afterwards you specialise for higher tier in KS4/5.

In nutshell, she should be able to teach physics, chemistry and biology to yr7 to 9 kids.

Thanks @kaylov12

The goal is to get a job and remain bro. She loves teaching and has some years of experience teaching. However, The special needs Masters interest her cos her friend told her it's lucrative and almost readily available. I want to be sure before I support it

Thanks

Her friend is right, but the masters would be lucrative after she's already qualified to teach. So it's like two processes here,
1. Train to teach in the UK for QTS
2. Get MA in special needs educ.
I believe it should be in that order. Having a masters i education doesn't give the qualified teacher status QTS.

Hello everyone, my wife has an NCE in Economics and Mathematics and also a B.Ed in Economics Education. What courses can she do? She is actually considering going for special education but she is a bit skeptical about the course. Also, how cool is Northumbria Newcastle? I haven't seen any review about the place. Thanks.

With your qualifications, you do PGCE Secondary Mathematics if you have teaching experience. There is more prospect in it that Special needs if the goal is to get a job and remain.

Good day all,

Please I need help understanding something, I applied for a Student visa with my husband. I'm going for a PGCE Course.

I applied 20 working days ago (priority ) and no reply till now though I got a non straight forward mail 2 working days after my application.

Upon contacting the UKVI, they replied and said they are running *mandatory checks* .

Please can someone explain what mandatory checks mean and the criteria they use to pick who gets checked.

@justwise @ralph @lexus and other gurus please help.

I resume physically on the 1ST of September and attendance is compulsory. With all these going on I'm at wits end on what to do!

Please I help me understand
Thank you.

@MissOwaa , permit me to campaign after election..lol as I noticed you have once reached out to me.
Firstly, don't stress much, your uni will wait. I had similar experience last year. Uni resumed 7th Sept , placement began like some 2 weeks after but I resumed online lectures as everyone, entred UK October 4th and resumed placement after October half term. I only got 3 weeks extra to stay at my 2nd placement school to finish the course.

Secondly, I had a similar issue with visa, albeit standard but it took more than one month with a second interview that lasted 50minutes on phone.
I may say that PGCE isn't very popular with international students, this may be the reason for the delay if of course your application is straightforward/convincing.

I know it's hard to stay sane during the waiting period, but love, if your application has no course for doubt, you will get your visa, get on your prog when you can and finish well as well.

If I may ask, what University are you going?

why are they scared of sponsoring post study visa holders?
Is this associated with the money they will pay? Or is their any other thing hindering them from sponsoring?
If money is the problem, what if a post study visa holder decide to cover the cost that will be incurred will this be legal?

To answer your questions, I won't say they are scared but not all companies are registered to give sponsorship to employees. Thise who give are registered with the Home office, I believe.

Hello everyone,
I have been putting my skilled worker application together and thought to consult the elders before submitting.

My situation.
I have just completed my PGCE and started a job in July. Back home I have my family waiting to join me (My husband and 2 boys). My organisation didn't give me the normal CoS doc, but I got all info needed for application. The school ticked maintenance so I do not need proof of funds.
Docs I uploaded ;
1. Passport data page
2. BRP both sides
3. Marriage cert, Change of name
4. IELTS TRF
5. My sons' birth cert.

I like to know if there is any other doc I have to upload before final submission.

Thanks all.

Hello, I have a friend on a tier 4 visa whose pasport expires in September, course ends in August and plans to apply for the graduate visa.
Is there any way he can apply for a Visa with an expired passport or what's the best next step to take....

Please, how do you deal with Nigerian accent as a teacher in UK?
OMG, this part I don't like to tell people.

I am in a school in the North of England and their accent their na die. It was hard for the students to understand my accent at first. Everytime it's PARDON.
I had to fine tune my accent eventually, and try to speak slowly (this is still hard cos I sometimes stutter).

The clarity in speech comes with time but with conscious effort.

Oh!! Great thank you!
I was given Primary Studies but my area of specialisation is Mathematics.

Primary PGCE is quite vast, more than Secondary. Despite specialising in Mathematics you will still.learn about some more primary subject cos as a primary teacher, you'll take ownership of your classroom.

I learnt Secondary PGCE gives you opportunity to teacher both primary and secondary.
I would have strongly advised that you do Secondary Physics, it's the highest subject in demand as far as I am concerned. Not too many people teach triple science.

Okay, that's good. Please for the sake of your tier 4 visa, they can not pay more than 20 hours for you, but try and negotiate with the school to let it be pro rata on the legal pay scale for probationary Teachers and not per hourly pay. With that you are covered for your salary payment during secondary school holidays like Christmas, easter, mid term, and bank Holidays. Opportunities also include organising a weekend tutorials in your neighbourhood like this. https://www.saturdayschoolglasgow.com/?utm_source=yell&utm_medium=refferal&utm_campaign=yell

I am afraid this isn't possible. School placement of the course module: Teaching practice 1 and 2
You teach in school as a trainee and are not eligible for salary. For every time you go into a classroom, your subject mentor or normal.class teacher will be there to fill an observation form which rates how you are meeting or have met the teaching standards.

So as it is, you are like what we call " student teacher" in Naija.
Holidays are usually two week. Getting a job within the time could be possible being in London. Besides, the holidays are usually when assignments deadline are.
