doyin13: Alonso would not be a bad buy sha. . . .
He likes that long ball that can stretch a pitch, and United's principal weapon.
sometimes last season i just thought you Arses played so narrow, it was ridiculous What Alonso brings to the game is top notch;the long passes, great vision and great set pieces. But is he the much touted DM that Arsenal needs?NO Alonso can only thrive in a 3 man midfield with someone behind him doing the "dirty work" a la Mascherano. Unless of course we switch to a formation that will have him,Song and Cesc in the middle of the pack,i do not see him making the much needed defensive impact that Arsenal needs from the middle. doyin13: sometimes last season i just thought you Arses played so narrow, it was ridiculous We played so narrow as we lost most of our creative personnels for most part of the season.Diaby was clueless for most of the season,Denilson inspite of what the statistics said about him is not a player with great vision, and until the latter part of the season,Song was never on song. I think the signing of Arshavin(an extremely talented player who sees a space 3 seconds before any other player) and Cesc having a disciplined DM by his side, the Arsenal of old can return. For most part of last season, even the champagne football was not played. |

Samir Nasri suffered his fractured fibula in a challenege with Abou Diaby, arsenalinsider can exclusively reveal.
Sources close to the club have told us that Nasri sustained the injury in a challenge with his midfielder team-mate in a training session ahead of tonight’s friendly with SC Columbia on the tour of Austria.
Our source said: "It looks really bad and could be broken. It was a challenge with Diaby. If it is broken he could easily be out for a good part of season but, however arsenal.com says "Nasri will be out of action for two to three months." , of course, we are hoping that isn’t the case and it just looks worse than it is. It could be the case that he is only out for about eight weeks but it just depends on the severity of the break."
French media outlets L’Equipe and France Football seem to confirm the incident and say Nasri was taken to hospital in Hartberg "crying in pain". Source: www.arsenalinsider.com/?p=5459Owen et al should beware of Diaby. If he can do this to poor Samir, now imagine what happens to our opponents.Guess this is what dude(Diaby) gained from the personal training he had;the ability to break bones.

Hope you know he's injured too. tkb417: owen won the most prestigious award in europe in 01 Maybe that will be reason enough for Man U to sign Figo and George Weah too. tkb417: Valencia will walk into ur team without any fight from nobody Obertan dude is better than eboue Eboue can dance Makossa better. Alexander Hleb's Arsenal regret: I should never have left the Gunners - I'd die for Wenger
Alexander Hleb has confessed that his move from Arsenal to Barcelona last year was a mistake he now regrets. The 28-year-old confirmed he is unhappy in Catalonia despite his team's successes in the Spainish league and Europe last season. 'When you mostly sit on the bench, winning titles brings very little joy, while getting to the last eight of the Champions League with Arsenal was unforgettable,' said the Belarus winger.
'I regret my move from London, but unfortunately nothing can be done about it now.' While Hleb feels he has been poorly treated by Nou Camp boss Pep Guardiola, he showered praise on former manager Arsene Wenger. 'For me, Wenger was like a father. I consider him one of the best managers in the world. 'For such a boss one wants to die on the pitch. Arsene managed to create a smashing team with a wonderful atmosphere inside of it. 'I have no doubts that if Arsenal had the same budget as Barcelona, the Gunners would be among the three best clubs on the planet.' Hleb is prepared to stick it out at Barca until the new year, but he has been offered to Inter Milan as part of the swap deal that should see Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic go in the opposite direction. Ibime: I am delighted when sentiment becomes obstructive of sound reason, especially when the same applies to a sworn adversary. It does not come as a surprise to anyone of a lucid mind that fanatics of the so-called Highbury Gunners would advocate against selling that impostor called Kolo Toure. One would presume that any sane manager would surreptitiously hawk the services of that charlatan to lesser clubs whilst seeking to replace him with any of the bountiful upgrades presently on the market. In other words, the continued presence of Messrs Toure at Arsenal fills me with satisfaction, safe in the knowledge that Le Prof's achilles heel (which has always been his defensive judgement) is still very much open to be exploited. Charlatan again?I thought that was Persie's middle name. Anyway,i wouldn't be surprised if the charlatan is sold and you will be the first person to come here and tout Arsenal a selling club. What irony! |

The season starts soonest and i wonder why people will argue in advance about something that will definately take place. In less than a month's time, we will know if Owen is the non-coloured Saha and have exhausted all his goal prowess in pre-season a la Bent last season,if Ancelotti's stuttering English will be reason enough to send him the way of his predecessors,if Benitez will have a reason to bring out a dossier on Ferguson, and also we will confirm that Vermaleen is the new Vidic. So Sauron has been banned? Isn't it possible he gets a new handle as he's always done even when he's not banned?(I think i remember he said he dropped the Hannibal ID 'cos it was generating way much controversy. ) He's not the first(and definately not the last) to get banned so i doubt if it should cause so much furore. On the other,i think all Man U supporters should just go on strike to register their displeasure.Buncha Obertans. |

tkb417: UTD or City? City but still in the realm of speculation. debosky: @ Kay
There's way too much speculation right now, so I wouldn't be bothered about Kolo going anywhere.
The only defensive speculation that interests me now is a 'switch' of Senderos for Hangeland - now that would be something to crow about. The Hangeland swap is sure something to "bite" on but then it's all speculation still. Going by the clumsy way we were defending set-pieces against Barnett,i wouldn't mind a tall brute at the back and Hange' fits the bill. As per the match against Barnett,i feel we have a lot to do in the way we defend set-pieces;we were a tad clumsy doing that. Midfield;need i say we still need that coveted DM? Attack:with the sale of Ade,we need a pacy attacker that can make use of those long passes from Cesc. Enough said! . |

MrCrackles: I dont think the whole Ade money will be spent but i am confident we will spend a tidy chunk of it. . . . . Now we need a CF and an holding midfielder who is ready to get crunching tackles. . . . That right there is the what i crave for the most. I just have a feeling Wenger will just switch Walcott centrally without getting another CF. That said, let him just get whomever he wants in ASAP MrCrackles: I still dont understand why we are freaking out about Manchester City I think it is too early. . . . .They can assemble all the stars, but how many will stay fit? How will they gel as a team? How long will it take to bed them all in? It wont be an overnight success. . . . . Fingers crossed, but i am not shaken or losing sleep. . . .The flair and quality is at Arsenal We just need to push for a trophy and dont worry about who finish behind us If we can stiffle the top three sides, and pick up maximum points where we need to, the trophy cabinet at the Emirates will be fresh! DONT PANIC GUNNERS - CITEH AINT NO THREAT! The fear of City is not unfounded though i deem it ridiculous the notion that we will be the one they will replace in UCL spot if at all they make it into top 4. The fact that City is getting players who were hitherto with one or the other in the EPL is definately a cause for worry but not only for us. Of course,it will take some time for them to gel but definately we wouldn't be looking at the Citeh of old when the season kicks off. I see then causing some troubles here and there and getting a Europa spot at least. |

And see what we have here: AW in no rush to replace AdebayorArsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he has no plans to replace Emmanuel Adebayor after agreeing to sell the Gunners striker to Manchester City.
Adebayor has spent the day at Eastlands discussing personal terms and the transfer, reported to be worth £25million, is in on the brink of completion.
Wenger claims the money raised by Adebayor's sale is his to invest but while he is keeping an eye on Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, he is no hurry to spend.
Instead, he will rely on his current attacking options which have been boosted but the return of Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo from injury.
"We're not on the verge of signing anybody but I'm able to spend the money if we find the right players," he said,
"We're not in a hurry because we have a big squad. We'll see in pre-season if we need to make any additions.
"If we need to add something we will. Chamakh is one of the players we've followed and if we need to go for a striker he's a possibility. We're keeping an eye on him.
"We have Rosicky and Eduardo back so we've lost a big striker but have gained two offensive players who were absent last season.
"We also have Nicklas Bendtner, Andrey Arshavin, Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott who can play striker. We have top players we can use as strikers."
Adebayor's departure will not be mourned by Arsenal fans who tired of his attempt to engineer a move abroad last summer before signing a new contract.
Supporters questioned his commitment throughout last season and his sale represents good business with Arsenal set to make an £18million profit on a player they signed from Monaco for £7million in 2006.
Wenger understands Adebayor's desire to leave the Emirates and admitted he was joining a growing force in the Barclays Premier League.
"We'll miss him - he's a great player. I'm sure he'll give something special to Man City," he said.
"I don't believe that last season he got enough support and I think that played a part in his mind.
"There was a bit of resentment you could feel through last summer. I believe he wanted to do well but didn't have the confidence of the year before.
"If you consider the money we paid for him it was good business, but that was not our main target.
"It's a good opportunity for him because City could be a big force in the coming years.
"Carlos Tevez, Robinho and Gareth Barry have done it. Man City will be a threat to the top teams."
Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Barnet in Saturday's traditional pre-season curtain-raiser with Rosicky making his first appearance since January 2008. Source: http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1766_5440084,00.html |

Finally he leaves. . . . . . . . City seal Adebayor swoop
Manchester City have completed the signing of Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor on a five-year contract. The fee for the Togo international has not been disclosed, although the 25-year-old is believed to have cost City in the region of £25million.
Adebayor was omitted from the Arsenal squad which tackled Barnet on Saturday as he was in Manchester putting the final touches on his five-year contact.
The former Monaco man, who joined Arsenal in 2006, has been moved by the reception received by fans and is looking forward to making history at Eastlands.
"It made me feel really welcome and special and I can't wait to play for City's fans and show them what I can do," he told City's official website.
"I was born to play football and that is what I want to do. I have come here to make history for this club and those supporters. It what the chairman and the manager told me that they want too and I can't wait to get started."
Manager Mark Hughes has signed some of the world's finest strikers this summer with Adebayor joining the likes of Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz in joining City.
Although Hughes has a plethora of attacking options he is delighted to have acquired Adebayor's signature, stating he will 'greatly enhance' City's ability to compete with the big four. OK who's coming Wenger? |
