Come on folks! Let's hit all the social media with this message. Let's push all our friends on Facebook, twitters, BB, whatapp etc to critically examine themselves like most of us have done here and proffer the fine suggestions that have been put up. As the saying goes "The man dies who keep silent in face of tyranny" I must confess I have quoted some of the posts here (with their names) and sent to my BB contacts. I have told my friends to start taking responsibility for their actions or inactions. Let's spread the message. There is no forum better placed than Nairaland to start the Nigerian version of "Arab Springs" Let's go! |
Personally, I want to say this is the best thread I have ever followed since joining Nairaland. The op was being modest in trying to say "Not all of us are corrupt". Nah! We are all in this together. How I wish Frosbel or someone among us Nairalanders can take this campaign to the larger society. Let the reform start from here. More Nigerians should do a critical self examination like this and believe me, with God on our side, our society will turn out better. Well done Frosbel. You have shown the way! |
I have read all the comments on this thread and I'm surprised that nobody seems to remember that BH once threatened to kill the President. Well, I suspect they believe GEJ will meet them alone to receive a suicide bomber's hug as it happened in Pakistan. If Boko boys are tired, let them go and hang. After all, "Die na Die" |
Dat was a good one Bro. |
^^^ Actually I am more concerned with them teaching our local boys how to do it cos if the regular Yahoo boy starts hacking, then the whole world is in trouble
A very scary picture. |
Very insightful indeed. If only common Nigerians would realise this truth and face the real enemies. |
You talk as if you do not understand the real issues that are at stake here. Subsidy removal will directly lead to an increased cost of living for many many Nigerians including yourself. GEJ appears unable to deal with the real cause here which is corruption.I quite agree with you that Subsidy removal will lead to an initial increased cost of living but that is the negative side of the matter, which in any case is temporary. I suggest we look at the positive sides too: - With removal of subsidy, more investors will be encouraged to come in - This means that more refineries will be built and old refineries will be privatized and better managed, - Also, the various refineries will compete for the Nigerian large market and prices will crash, - These refineries would depend on Nigerian crude and refine here. They will pay taxes and royalties, This means more fund for development. - So, more jobs will be created and wealth creation continues! - Meanwhile, as seen in the proposed budget, the sub-head for subsidy has disappeared with the money spread to other areas of need - Note also that with the single action of subsidy removal, the racket of the cabal have been smashed. What many of us do not know is that the quantity of fuel consumed locally is definitely lower than the quantity subsidized by govt. The balance disappear in corrupt deals. Subsidy removal is a master-stroke against corruption. Now, apart from the initial increased cost of living, are there other reasons that can counter-balance the positives listed above? If there are, please put them forward. |
Sometimes, I wonder if majority of those claiming to know it all knows anything at all. Everyone clamour for the good things of life but it is taboo for them to support the government to deliver. Here is an elected President who has identified a way in the removal of fuel subsidy but Nigerians would not understand. For a sincere mind, it is simple logic that if market forces are allowed to determine the prices of petroleum products, it will encourage investors to move into the oil sector, create jobs and engender competition. On the long run, just like we wanted, prices will crash naturally. However, since we always look for shorcuts, most of us would like to eat our cake and have it. Being a peace loving President who hate the thought of Nigerians being killed in a senseless uprising, he has decided to tarry a while for more consultations as to why we have to endure the initial pains of fuel subsidy for future gains and we are still crying! Sure, it will take a mad man to straighten things in this land. I make bold to say that I voted for GEJ and he has not disappointed me one bit! I would rather have a listening President than any other! Many of those master-minding the call for mass revolt are the cynics who are always quick to condemn but with no realistic alternative solutions to Nigeria's problems. The rest of the people shouting are just follow-follow! They don't know what they really want! Nigerians should give the President the chance to rule in line with his convictions. If and when he fails as many have predicted, history will judge him correctly. Of course, we have to keep our governments on their toes but we shouldn't grind them to a halt. |
After reading through arguments for and against removal of subsidy, one cannot but conclude that it is better for Govt to remove the damn thing. Yes! We (the masses) will suffer on the short run and Government cannot be trusted to utilize the anticipated savings wisely. However, the real reason why subsidy has to go is that, there is no denying the fact that once business men are convinced that they will make reasonable profit from their investments, genuine investors will rush into the country to buy the existing refineries and build new ones. They will refine Nigerian crude, employ our brothers and sisters and eventually, with the competition, prices will crash and stabilize. All the sharp prices involved in fuel subsidy inflation will disappear! One can also be rest assured that with the expected effective management of the refineries by private investors, even our gas-powered power plants would most likely have regular supply to improve electricity. Almost all Nigerians had in the past contributed to the rot in the polity. It is now pay-back time. We have to swallow the bitter pill of de-regulation now. We have to sow now, so that we can reap tomorrow. Else, Nigeria will in the near future depend on our current poorer neighbours for basic needs including refined petroleum products! We have to make haste while the sun shines! |
To say the truth, the south as a whole stands to lose more in human resources if we allow a senseless war to break out. I feel really sad when some posters (obviously from the south) talk about killing their maiguards or their street-corner mai-suyas. They seem to foolishly equate the value of the lives of these pitiful fellows with that of trained southern professionals (Doctors, Engineers, Accountants, bankers and others too numerous to mention) who reside here in the north. While most of the poor northerners in the north are responsible only to themselves, many of the southerners are bread winners and responsible for the survival of extended families down-south. So, please, let those who have brains among the war-mongers realize that all Nigerians, north and south have one common enemy in the greedy and untouchable elite cabal that is holding everyone, including the so called government to ransom. They decide what happens to you and me daily. They decide when to have peace and when not to have with their sponsored militants. They create the news for us and tell us what to believe. Many a times have they manipulated us to castigate those whom we are supposed to praise and praise those we are supposed to stone to death. Be wise Nigerians, let's go after the real enemies instead of fighting foolishly among ourselves. |
If only Nigeria is a civilized country, Baba Suwe stands to make some cool money from NDLEA for defamation of character, if after numerous rounds of shyt no cocaine is found on him. |
So all of us should go to your village. Abeg!Na waa for u o! The man mentioned Lagos, Enugu, Benin, and Abuja and you are still talking about his village. Will it satisfy you if I add that I also experienced improved electricity in Ilorin and Dutse? |
One thing that is clearly evident is that, at last, the PHCN management seems to be awake. I noticed significant improvement in the number of hours of power supply when I was in Ilorin last week and when I returned to the north, the improvement was also there. Considering the fact that nobody in the past (including PHCN management) used to know which plant will work or not work in the near future, this notice before hand shows that they are not sleeping. It will at least give us enough chance to fuel our gens to survive the dark days ahead. ![]() |
From social-economic point of view, one is bound to be excited about the coming of a bank that will not demand choking interest on loans as presently pracised in the existing banks in the nation. If properly handled, many people (muslims and non-muslims) who ordinarily are afraid of the almost unbeatable task of paying back their loans and huge interests would be glad at this prospect. However, the CBN Gov should come out openly to tell us the implication of failure to pay up, if befallen by calamities of a failed business adventure. The major source of worry for me is what is likely to happen to the conventional banks in the hands of some over-zealot boko haramists and the like, who with their conviction that only these non-interest islamic banks are "halal" and so they are free to attack (bomb) those interest-charging banks because (they believe that) the bankers and the "infidels" who bank with them deserve to die. How will the CBN Gov work on the minds of these fellows to ensure that conventional banks don't become their targets? |
@GenBuhari Let's be sincere. It was obvious to everybody before the election that CPC needed an alliance with ACN to defeat PDP. Buhari miscalculated that the whole north will vote for him to qualify him for a runoff. It however did not work out that way. By the time forensic test removes multiple ballots from all parties including CPC, it is obvious that PDP because of its spread will still carry the day. Mark my word! |
It is my humble opinion that most pple only concentrate on the negative side of Baba Iyabo. Most pple forget that Abacha wanted to kill him because he spoke up against his evil doings. People forget that it was after he publicly declared that the sick Yaradua should step down that every other person that were hitherto asking "Nigerians to pray" got the liver to talk. Without his towering figure, it would have been easy for IBB to wangle his way back to Aso rock. Even Buhari, with all his mean-ness has alwa http://www.nairaland.com |
The quarry is near Ilorin in Kwara State. |
I have been able to establish a quarry with a small, secondary crusher (manually fed), a small screen deck and locally fabricated conveyor belts that separate the various sizes of granite chippings. I also have other equipments like jack hammers, payloader, air compressor and tippers. However, my total output/day is still very low. I am scared to go into debts/heavy loans to procure other necessary but expensive equipments like Primary crusher, Wagon drill and Excavator. What kind of partnership agreement can I make with financiers to get these other equipments without losing my company identity? |
@TINUBU4LIFE You are talking as if the forensic tests will only apply to southern ballots. CPC will be thouroughly embarassed with the level of ballot stuffing their members forced on d NYSC ad hoc staff, some of whom they later murdered/maimed. Buhari will on judgement day give account to Allah abt the blood of innocent souls spilled on his name. F*cking bastards. |
For every single proof that Buhari thinks he will unveil against GEJ's popular mandate, PDP will unearth double proofs of intimidation, under-age voting and lawlessness of CPC supporters. |
Buhari have turned to be insincere and a big disappointment. One would have expected him to be happy for Nigeria but no, he does not love d country that much. Instead of being remorseful over d senseless killing of innocent Nigerians because of him, he is only concerned about his bloody thirst for power. He will lose again! In sha Allah. |
Well done Beaf for making good research and giving us another view point! The IGP would be dumb to make such a silly statement. |
The ring road PTF built here is the best road ever.To God i can swear i cant remember seeing a single Pot hole 15 years now.I like Goodluck as a person but he cant handle the Job,too soft and nice, lol and thats why i like him personallyHonestly, my friend mistakay, if the truth must be told, most of us who are GEJ supporters love him because of his soft and nice nature. However, I am gradually getting inclined to shift my support to the BB ticket. Sorry, to disappoint Beaf who apparently loves GEJ just like myself, or even more. It will be fool-hardy for me to continue to believe that GEJ with his soft approach can tackle the evil men that oils corruption in our land. We will be fooling ourselves if we expect the saboteurs who import generators to give in without a serious fight or if we expect those who benefit from importation of refined petroleum products to sit back and allow local refineries to work. Very unfortunately, these are the people who populate the PDP! Definitely, we would be asking for too much from our beloved GEJ if we expect him to suddenly become enemies of these hawks after the elections (as I have expressed on this forum in the past). They will work against him from within the party and eventually impeach him. On the other hand, one can clearly see that a mention of Buhari's name alone sends jitters to the spines of the corrupt-minded. It therefore becomes a duty for me as a true lover of my country to shift my support and vote for the BB ticket. It is obvious that Nigeria as a country stand to overcome many of her problems if corruption is defeated as Buhari is wont to do. My only prayer is that being so powerful, God would not allow Buhari to become as despotic as the strong man of Libya. I supported GEJ up to this moment because of my belief that "If he can make it, I can make it" but sorry, he is too, too soft for the kind of demons that are holding Nigeria down now. Nigeria needs a strong leader, with strong institutions to get out of the woods. I am also happy for him because he has already made it! For now, for the love of my country, Buhari seems to be the answer! God bless my country, Nigeria. |
As I have stated on this page, I am committed to ensuring social justice and restoring the dignity of labour in Nigeria which is why I have signed into law the Minimum Wage Act which mandates every employer of labour to pay at least N18,000 per month to the least paid staff. We have to motivate to create wealth. We may have much or little but what little we have, must be shared more equitably. GEJAgain, Goodluck has shown his critics that he is a caring leader. Right from when he cancelled his trip abroad to parley with labour leaders to his attention towards almajiris to federal universities in every state to ongoing power plant projects and others too numerous to remember at once JUST WITHIN ONE YEAR, Goodluck has continued to show that he is the caring leader Nigerians yearn for. GEJ ALL THE WAY! |
All of you, GEJ haters can continue to deceive yourself and celeberate those opportunistic achievements of your "Nigerian General".It appears that there's no one among those of you who kill yourselves over Buhari who can answer the posers above. We need answers please GenBuhari & co. |
God would have done a great job, oh no, fought a great battle for Naija if at the end of April polls, the PDP are swept out of office both at the highest level of govt and other levels as well. So, you can only remember GSM. - What about the situation back then that Nigeria was a pariah state? - What about network banking? Have you forgotten that anyone can become a beggar in those days if he loses his money at a place far away from home. - What about the long queues at filling stations that have disappeared? - What about the huge debts Nigeria owed that was pardoned/repaid? and most importantly - What about the air of freedom? Honestly, one may not, at a go, remember many of the changes in our lives but as the saying goes: Count your blessings! |
All of you Buhari supporters, just pray that your man will be calm when frank and pointed questions are thrown at him during the debate. Those who watched the Channels TV's Lagos State Governorship debate can attest to Chief J.K. Randle' reaction when Fashola took him up. Surely, Buhari is likely to cringe at the mention of 2.5 Billion Dollars, 53 suitcases, lopsided treatment of 2nd republic politicians, jailing of journalists and all his intolerant draconian style. Or when he is asked whether it is part of his military duties/training to usurp the people's power and topple a civilian government. Many more questions will come and your man has very little patience to spare for bloody civilians. O! I just can't wait to see Buhari sweating on the D-Day! |
All of you, GEJ haters can continue to deceive yourself and celeberate those opportunistic achievements of your "Nigerian General". On April 9, GEJ will defeat Buhari because those of us who appreciate the fact that if other past Heads of State had moved at the reasonable pace GEJ is now moving, Nigeria would have been a better place. But no, because you are deluded by the forced achievements under the jackboot that you credit Buhari with, you fail to realize that when Buhari ruled in a military setting, Nigeria was like a giant who after his face have been covered (he cannot see) and his hands and legs are tied (he cannot move), he was thrown into a ring to fight a midget. Of course, he would be beaten! Even a toddler could have achieved whatever Buhari achieved over a suppressed people that we were back then. Buhari knows that he cannot perform in an environment where there is freedom of speech under which the unperturbed GEJ is now performing. That is why he keeps on moving to parties where there will be no dissent voice. Do you people think ruling a people is all brawn? No, a leader has to negotiate, he has to be diplomatic and Buhari has zero of those all important qualities. Can you answer these questions for Buhari: - Why did he have to kill harmless journalists, just for speaking the truth about his government? - If he was as pure as you want us to believe, why not allow people to speak their minds? - Why did his Aide (Jokolo) bring in 53 suitcases unchecked? - Why try at all cost to jail Ajasin when he left crooks like Uba Ahmed to escape? - Why did he keep Alex Ekwueme and other southern politicians of 2nd Republic in Kirikiri while northern politicians who were then seen as worse were kept under House arrest? - Why did he allow his deputy (Idiagbon) to go to Hajj with his underaged child at a time when it was unlawful for children of his age to do so? These are just few out of Buhari's selective justice. No! Never again shall we allow such a brute to rule us. IT IS GOODLUCK ALL THE WAY. |
For me, I see in Goodluck the Moses of our time. Despite his sincere love for the country and abhorence of evil and violence, he has no choice but to allow himself to be supported by the devils who believe they are in control. It is obvious to all that his government is daily being sabotaged and not stable enough, given the circumstances through which he came into power, for him to come out clean and allow these fellows to know that he hate their ways. That will be not only be naive, it is suicidal! So far, he has only been able to tell them he is not desperate for power and that his personal ambition or anybody else' is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. It is grossly unfair for people here on Nairaland to expect him to commit the obvious blunder of confronting this undoubtedly powerful cabal now. Until that time when he has the firm grip of the sword, it will be foolish, to say the least, for him to dare the devils. PATIENCE IS THE WORD AS GOODLUCK WILL SURELY BE THE NEMESIS OF THE NIGERIAN PHARAOHS. THEY WILL ALL LIVE TO REGRET THAT THEY HELPED HIM TO GET THERE. GEJ WILL DELIVER! |
