Any discerning mind can see the desperation of the Senate and their collaborators in the Presidency to find something to hang on Magu. Hence, the petty lies. In a situation where many of the people being prosecuted by EFCC are people that can afford to pay him Millions of dollars to get off the hook, they are talking about rent fees, 1st class ticket and the rest. Now that Premium Times have done diligent investigation and found those craps to be untrue, let's await the Senate's next line of action. To me, they have only proved that indeed Magu is not corrupt. This situation makes one remember the Tam David West travails about accepting a wrist watch as his only offence in the 80s. Sahara Reporter said it earlier and it has now come to pass: The senators are understandably scared of the incorruptible Magu. |
Sometimes, it's very difficult to achieve this work-life balance because you work with a boss that close much later than the official closing time. For example, during the official working hours of 8am to 4pm, in a typical government office, so many visitors come to disturb the boss' train of thought and work pile up. This has made some bosses to clear their tables by staying in office till 7pm or even 8pm. Now, this bosses has under them junior officials, secretaries and clerks who wouldn't be able to leave too. In this scenario, there's really nothing much the junior officers can do to significantly balance their work - life except the boss take measures on his own to adjust. You can't force him to do it. |
Senator Yerima appears to be the only one among the lot quoted that made sense. It's very easy to criticize someone's creation but another ball game to make corrections. The document has been passed to the Senate for inputs. Why reject it at face without delving into the details all because there are no accompanying Ghana must go bags. |

legendte:All of you defending Dasuki seem not to realize that this man instead of facing the real subject of his arrest is just looking for a way to escape justice. We all know our borders are still porous. Siezing the international passport of a man like him amount to nothing as shown by Nnamdi Kanu who was able to travel without his known passports. Dasuki knows the gravity of his offence . He is just waiting for the government to make the mistake of releasing him, even for a week and he will be off our soil. Nobody knows what he will incite from outside. Meanwhile, thousands have died due to his greed. Many young soldiers and officers have died. Is his own right above the right of all these people to live. |
There's no arguing the reality that hunger is in the land. However, we should know that it takes the cooperation of citizens in a country for government to succeed. From my understanding, Nigerians must be ready to change their perspectives about government by contributing their quota and doing things the way it ought to be done without looking for shortcuts. Heaven helps those who help themselves. |
Sometimes, I wonder why government cannot just make these BDCs to register as agents of banks and deal on their behalf at the interbank rates. In a country like ours where patriotism is a scarce commodity, the gap between the black market and interbank rates will continue to widen except government takes a drastic step to halt it. |
NaijaFutbol:You are economical with the truth where you said that they have not supported corrupt Niger Delta politicians. What about their demand no 2 on Alamasiegha? Nobody intimidated him to death. His greed killed him. |

Wildrage:This is part of our problems in this country. You readily spring to the defense of the politicians without any proof that the story is false. Why not wait until the regular press follow up on the story. The truth is bound to come out either from Oshiomole side or Okowa side. Patience please. |

anonimi:While it was good and commendable that Jonathan went to the creeks to persuade the militants to drop their weapons and save the economy, it could also be that they had an understanding and they were well known to him and nobody alleged that he was their sponsor. However, in the case of Buhari and Boko haram, allegations were rife at that time that he was sponsoring the terrorists. It might have been for this reason that he turned down their request as he didn't want to be associated with them as would have been the case if he had represented them in a talk and succeeded. |
Fact is that the generality of Nigerians feel the pains of the Niger Delta people. Unfortunately, the people of the zone has continued to put all their aggression across with tribalistic colouration. It's on record that Yaradua, a Northerner faced a stepped up agitation and yielded with the amnesty programme. Unfortunately, he died. The creation of the NDDC, Ministry of Niger Delta and 13% derivation were all mismanaged by sons and daughters of the ND without any complaints from the Niger Deltans. If not for political reasons, why has the NDA embarked on their destructive mission despite Buhari's clearly stated intent to develop the zone beginning with the cleaning of Ogoni waters and the Lagos - Calabar rail line. Nobody would be happy with a friend who brags about all the assistance he rendered to his friend. The Niger Deltans brags about oil and call people of other zones parasites forgetting that the oil in their backyard is not by dint of hard work but by providence. One clear thing is that even if they are granted 100% resource control with their present mentality, they'll continue to kill themselves over it just like the fight of children who destroy themselves over their father's inheritance. The fact that the FG is seeking dialogue is not a sign of weakness but they are wise to realize they are dealing with spoil brats. However, the Buhari administration should please not renew oil well licenses issued based on political patronage by previous governments. They should be issued in a more equitable and economically sound manner. . |
introvertedsoul:Now you should be happy that you are not alone in the stupid class. Clap for your stupidity. |
BiafranAmerican:One thing that baffles me so much is that almost all of you from the Niger Delta find it difficult to question your leaders' integrity. You are not bothered about your governors or even GEJ who despite the huge allocations have not taken you out of misery. Six years of Presidency and Ogoni waters are still polluted and East - West road is not completed. Instead, you youths have been brain washed to believe that their problems is from outside. You bomb oil installations and scare investors and construction companies away. More of you should embrace the truth like TonyeBarcanista. Maybe, just maybe, God in his infinite mercy will make you realize that Buhari is sincerely interested in cleaning up your self destructed land. Like Tonye asked, who in his right senses will burn down his father's house to spite the village head? A word is enough for the wise. I don talk my own. |
amazingspiderma:The problem with the last administration was that they were paying subsidy for non-existent fuel import. That's why nothing could be saved. Nigerians got it wrong when they blocked GEJ from removing the subsidy. Now that even those who opposed it then have realized the need to remove it, we should just allow. It's the only way to encourage private investors to come in and sell at reasonable prices. Soon, the market will be flooded with refined products and prices will come down. This is the path of wisdom. |
Those ministers are yet to realise what they are in to. It is a very rare privilege to be called to serve. Any of them that feels N4m is too small for the accommodation he wants can add his own money. People are suffering and they want to live ostentatious lifestyle. What then will be the change we are talking about. Just like Nigerians are sacrificing now for a bountiful future, they should lead by example. |
@ smartfeek, please send me the breakdown of starting the sachet and bottle water business. The cost from scratch. Please send to jimoajani@yahoo.com. Thank you for great work you're doing on tis thread. |
For those who still don't understand what is going on. let me try to make it simpler. As regards budgeting, based on the principle of separation of power, the executive is expected to propose the projects for which funds are required while the NASS scrutinise and approve or disapprove (not slash). The executive will then sign and implement while the NASS monitor in their oversight function. The executive is free to re-present the disapproved funds with better explanations and other urgent need in supplementary budget. However, by proposing new constituency projects and approving for themselves, the NASS has thrown out the doctrine of separation of powers. This has been the past practice during the Jonathan era without challenge . This is the reason why budget implementation has always been low because most of the time, the projects introduced by the NASS are either not yet designed or the contractors, usually nominated by them cannot access the funds. The present administration wants CHANGE and that means that we cannot continue to do things the wrong and expect a good result. If the NASS want their constituency projects, the proper way is to route it through the executive to propose so that they (NASS) approve. I am of the firm believe that if the lessons of this year is imbibed by both parties, next year's budget, God willing, will pass smoothly. |
AntiWailer:In fact, it is a very sad situation. The report also said some of the suspects made confessional statements but many of those that commented could not wait for Court process. All they could say is witch hunt, PDP, Ijaw and other mundane statements. Ziķ, Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello, Enahoro and many other nationalists of their were much younger when they fought and secured independence for the nation. Smh |
Kudos to the Nigerian Army. They should search well for possible underground bunkers in unexpected places. The vagabonds may be keeping the Chibok girls somewhere underground. |
danthamccoy:A family member of one of the deceased reported the matter to the police. Read again. |
kristisking:The problem, my friend, is that you don't really know what is good for you. You expect him to hit the ground running by just continuing in the old ways. Have you ever wondered why buildings have foundation? What Buhari is doing is akin to laying foundation for a more orderly Nigeria. No pain, no gain. Everybody ìs feeling the effects of it, even his party because he disallows frivolous spending. We just need to endure a little more. The 2016 budget, hopefully, will bring some relief to us all. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. |
wacoj:So, just because of your love for PDP, you want the sitting president to be held to ransom for 3 good years. You are really good at suffering. |
Ayennah:Thanks a million! It's only those in Kwara that know this fact. APC won in Kwara because of Buhari, not because of Bukola. A good percentage of Kwarans want Bukola to be punished for his misrule of the state. |
The only answer to your questions is that old things have passed away.... The atmosphere of corruption of the then ruling PDP allowed Tinubu to escape but I tell you, it may not have been so with a character like Buhari in power. Has it not occurred to you that that provision is an escape route for politicians? Why should someone who has sworn under oath to declare his assets truthfully be invited after he has been caught lying to come and cover the lies. Meanwhile, the judge has admitted Tinubu's release was in error. The question now is should he willingly commit another error by releasing Saraki even as it's obvious that he is unclean.1stdammy: |
[quote author=LegatusGlaber post=44114284]A lot of men with shady characters are left to walk cos they are loyal to the APC. If Saraki had not gone against the wishes of the party on the SP thingy, he will still be seen as a hero. His prosecution is as its ill timed as its politically motivated, simple.] You may be right about other shady characters being loyal to the APC. They seem to be wise enough to realise that they can't afford to be disloyal with their evil baggages unlike Bukoĺa who despite his well publicised evil deeds chose to be disloyal, assisted PDP to rebound against his own party for personal gain and still want to retain a very visible position that is supposed to be held by very decent and loyal party members. If APC allows Saraki to be its symbol (as the head of law makers), despite being seen by the public as a law breaker, the anti-corruption fight will be dead on arrival. His singular interest should not override that of the majority. |
[[ quote author=Fadipeshet post=43696458]Can we have a review of the generation and transmission policy?.Let us abolish this idea of adding everything generated to the national grid;I mean let states implement IPP (Independent Power Project)to power their states. This will discourage vandalisation . If a man in Bayelsa knows that his act of vandalism will affect only his area,he will naturally think twice. The people(locals) also will become more protective as they will take full ownership. Also,It is much easier for state to protect owned power infrastructures. Am not intrested in tales and blame game, I just want Nigeria to be great.[/quoteVery brilliant idea. I hope the government is thinking along this line. ] |
I still believe it's too early to write the APC government off. A lot of things will fall in their proper place after the budget is passed. There would be more liquidity in the polity and funds applied as budgeted including fighting vandalism and others. Nigerians needs to exercise a little more patience. By the end of 2016 to mid 2017, I expect APC to have gotten their acts right otherwise, the Change will change again in 2019. |
Something makes me feel that the labour unions (PENGASSAN AND NUPENG) are flabbergasted that this government did not go the usual way to bribe them before coming out with the restructuring. It seems that's what they meant by saying they were not carried along. From all indication, they have no argument against the restructuring. The CHANGE train is already in motion, they should either remain on board or gerrout! |
[ author=onojiwizardgmailcom post=43605415]good move, but its a Journey of illegality, without the enabling laws. this is suppose to go through the national assembly.[/quoteYou may be right but the National Assembly has been a cog in the wheel of progress in that sector. Considering the seriousness of the bill which has been frustrated by past assemblies for decades, one expected the 8th assembly to make it a priority instead of debating over exotic cars and the like. Buhari needs to take the bull by the horn like he has done. Otherwise, they would make him fail like past leaders and nobody will remember to blame the NASS. |

When as that part of the CCT Act gone missing
