We are a country sensitive to our religious affiliations, hence the holidays. The governments in the SE and SS might not follow through with the Islamic holidays except Federal workers. In the interest of peace and equality, then yes we need the holidays. |
This age of information technology, internet and GSM, folks are still asking this question? If you seek information you will find. During the occupyNigeria/labor gathering at Abuja, I realized how much little information people had about the country. So, in as much as you are at a place, no guarantee about reality. With information and technology, its so easy at least Sahara Reporters guy is showing it. |
When was the last time Nigerian Prison Service carried out Death by hanging sentence? Remember Otokoto? Clifford Orji? The answer is simple, the NPS does not have the tools for it anymore. Al Mustafa will appeal, stay in jail and be granted a Presidential pardon in 10 years |
Why does Morgan Freeman play God in movies? I don't see why there is a petition for a business decision. |
If the state government is privatizing a non efficient parastatal and still get workers paid then I am happy for that. Right now PHCN is firing and relocating staff to other ministries due to privatization. I do not think folks will be mad with clean water ran by a private company. Plus, water corporation also has duties to help with drainage systems and with the erosion in Imo I feel this is a good move. |
Almajiri economics . I want to see more folks out of poverty but this system will encourage more looting. |
Good deal to promote brand but not sure what the fans are getting due to the UEFA Champions Cup, most likely no top European stars will be available ![]() |
It is a dividend of democracy that my administration brought MR BIGGS to Owerri~ Achike Udenwa (Imo State Gov 1999-2007) |
@Ekoile I find Anambra's numbers very strange cos of the commerce activity there, I can understand Abia |
Kobojunkie:When folks reply to you the way you deserve, you get angry and say they are attacking your person. And here you are calling me a lie ![]() I am realistic, folks in the village do not pay rent, service generators or buy water (at least in my village). Do you think the kid that hawks oranges in Owerri makes N100 profit a day? That is the lost family wage I am talking about. The hours he/she spends in the farm (without pay or school) for the family good, thats a lost wage. Is it enough? No! But it is a start and the government can do it. The idea that money is small and hence should not be used is the core to our problems in Nigeria today. We have no value for small things. Lunch program + Books + Uniform + 100/month sounds like a good deal for the kids, all they need to do is to tie it to results and maintain continuity. You don't have to agree with me but there is really poverty in this nation |
Thread is getting boring , well here are some numbers from Arsenal Report about our injury records for past 3 years. Wetin this boys dey eat ![]() "More injury stats from Physio Room: since 29 Oct 2008, Arsenal have had 234 injuries. Man U 197, Man C 156, Liverpool 142, Chelsea 126" |
haha mess no get toilet ![]() |
And who says Imo State has no lunch program already in place? Plus free uniforms and books? There are unemployed folks who do not make up to 1800 in Nigera today. Truth is, if the Nigerian government gives out N1800 every year to unemployed folks, millions will queue up to collect. At the end, no parents give their children money to go hussle, you give pocket money or stipend to teach kids values about savings/spending. If you don't value small, you can never do well with a million. I still insist 100 for kids in Imo is more valuable than a place like Lagos. |
The stipend covers the cost of family lost wages. It is against the law for kids not to attend school. Giving the kids stipends would at least encourage them and save costs for families that would rather have them help at the farm or sell pure water during school hours. We cannot fold our hands and say cos of the law in place folks will oblige, there are really poor folks out there so when we manage the hidden cost side then it makes it easy for families to follow through. It is a stipend but it is a start. At least let them come to school for the money, all the states need to do is to tie it to results and all will be just fine. Plus cost of living is not Lagos State standard. |
Kai so now NFF needs to stick with contract stipulations? The same NFF that mispelled Michael for Mikel, the same one that has being reported to FIFA for breaching contracts in the past and paying foreign coaches compensation? What happened to reviewing contracts?Am happy that by this time next year we will be talking about sacking Keshi and Oliseh, who I must say have far bigger egos than Siasia and are not better. Our best coach in this country thrived on continuity. Good bye Super Eagles! |
My problem with YouWin is that it won't solve poverty or unemployment. Sadly, having a business plan does not translate to success. Plus this are grants rather than a loan to be repaid. Alj harem has a point with Innoson, for me I believe why not go to the market women who sells vegetable and micro finance her to include pepper? The local village widow that has a provision store give her loans to add minerals/coke/fanta The fulani man with 20 cows, give him loan for 20 more and have him decide to pay back through loans or send his kids to school Having a business plan alienates the local folks without education and that is very dangerous to our country, plus we are not good with keeping measuring metrics The petty traders and business traders are the real folks to help fight poverty and change the face of the country and there are millions of them. |
Sun of god:And who cut him down? By your posts, you are one of the Ghadaffi supporters and anti-west folks here. When you realize that Ghadaffi's protegee Blaise Compaore killed him then you will know about the harm the one you support has done to Africa. Meanwhile, per debts, if you don't need it don't borrow, simple as that. Botswana is an example. |
Naaa hypocrites, what is Nigeria doing in Sao Tome? No be hussle we dey . If Sao Tome is alert they will throw Nigeria out |
haha so 22 people ran against Paul Biya and he actually sponsored some folks to run against him ($20k to register). Basically gaming the system and winning the game of numbers. Africa haa! |
At least someone is now talking about Land reforms but what does it mean taking it off the constitution? Is that even possible? Land reform is the big elephant in the room and no one wants to touch it so am waiting to see them take an important step Meanwhile, we always over promote emptiness in this country, what is revolution sef? Are the research institutes part of it and how can students access funds without unnecessary red tape they go through at the university level. How can we incorporate the Fulani's into a better system without alienating them? Hope the ministries are talking with each other, can the Lagos-Kano train network be used as a commercial and storage hub? Agricultural reform cannot be achieved by the Ministry of Agriculture alone. We shall see how it goes |
Happy birthday Mr Arsene Wenger ![]() |
Sule Lamido's Jigawa is a blue print for Northern development. However, on the airport they have to hussle and raise funds on their own. Build a small place for planes to land. Am I the only one that saw free land for development in this article? |
kaz4sure:So? Is it not the Libyans money? A population of 6 million people plus oil money, I will do better Plus why does any governement invest in Italy's largest bank if he is anti-western as all you folks claim, when no bank in Libya can compete with even Nigeria's GTB. Why does Italy maintain its oil fields if he was anti-west? Why invest in Juventus FC? Who invests in soccer clubs to develop their country? Manchester UTD is the most valuable club and even Leyman Brothers earned more money on their last year of bankruptcy than Manchester United If he educated his folks really, how come he has Ukranian nurses taking care of him? Have you read any book by a Libyan author or used any science inventions of a Libyan? Why does he have African bloods on his hands? Chad, Sierra Leone, Sudan and even possibly Nigeria When we speak of African heros who fought imperialism then you talk of a man named Thomas Sankara (google him), way ahead of his time in the world and Africa. He supported womens right, educated more women, refused foreign debt and reduced governemnt cost drastically and guess who killed him? Blaise Compaore the current President of Burkina Faso, who was trained and sponsored by your African hero Ghadaffi. At the end if he were that good, why did his people choose to celebrate his death? The west brainwashed them? He is like the rich man in the village who feeds everyone but suppresses anyone who wants to be richer than him. At the end will Libya be better? short term No. Long term yes. He ruined his countries institutions cos he was trying to grab unto power and so they will start from scratch now and that process is difficult. |
dayokanu:When Nigeria beat USA 2-1 in the Semifinal #1989, Kasey Keller was the keeper and he just retired from pro football this week |
Land reforms instead of driver's license registration should be what we should be pursuing at this time, and we will be able to solve the problem with importation of food stuff. Too many issues are mitigating against this and hopefully things will change soon with a few tweaks here and there |
dayokanu:haha thats not even possible. Plus even if they target a Northern mosque, there will always be an Igbo guy that could be caught by the crossfire. No sense in fighting a war with the tools of the enemy, hence a better approach. Whats the sense in bombing Lagos and killing your own people in the process, a different approach is all they need. Forget what the internet warriors are saying ![]() |
So Seun does the 1 million include rental space? Or just the Library infrastructure? |
manny4life:Any part of the plan; research sources, advicing/reviewing the model and even English writing review. At the end, not everyone will get the funds so it comes down to soundness of the strategy. Plus those who can't speak or write English might have a great idea, eg a fulani herds guy might have an innovative way to invest in cows and sell milk in the future. |
Meanwhile if there is anyone participating in the "Youwin" project and needs help and advice with your business plan, I can help you for FREE |
@Seun did you get my MSN email? |
Linex:Agreed, the quality vs quantity argument makes sense but with a system that currently runs based on quota/catchment area at Federal Universities, then every state has a right to have a Federal University to promote a level playing field for all students. It is unfair if a student with 10 credits plus JAMB can get into his state university while another one has 10 Distinctions plus JAMB is denied based on quota system to the same University and is delayed cos his state of Bayelsa has none. Fairness for the poor smart ones! Mr President has to look for funding for the schools, the issue of quality goes beyond funding, we need massive reform |
Truth be told Owerri has developed really slowly, Real Estate in this part has being really slow (wonder why?). I like the idea of a new Owerri to direct commerce, Douglas road is terrible. Owerri has old city problem but they can take a cue from Asaba Nnebisi road. BTW Was that the cathedral in Green n white? that is terrible, iconic building but with the wrong colors and road that doesn't help its beauty ![]() |
I don't see why there is a petition for a business decision.
. I want to see more folks out of poverty but this system will encourage more looting.
God have mercy on your dear LYING soul!!! I feel so much pity for you ehn!!! ROFL
