PoliticsOur Army Of Voters Will Defeat The Rigging Army Imported By Amaechi --gov. Wike by kcmichael(op): 5:43pm On Mar 14, 2016
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared declared the mass movement of Rivers people already translated into an army of voters will defeat the illegal rigging army imported by failed Former Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
He described Chibuike Amaechi as a trader who has the spirit of selling everything in sight. He , however, stated that the former governor will never be allowed to sell Rivers State.
Addressing thousands of the people of Rivers South-East senatorial district during the Grand Finale of the PDP Campaign Rally in Bori on Monday, Governor Wike said the APC’S reliance on soldiers for rigging would be defeated as the people will defend their hard-earned freedom.
He said that Amaechi's technique of killing Ogoni people by tagging them as militants before the Army would be rewarded with electoral defeat on March 19.
According to him : "Why are the leaders of the APC running away from election after their victory at the tribunal? They have refused to campaign. All they do is to boast that that they will flood the state with soldiers who will rig the elections.
"We have a mass movement of Rivers people who represent an army of voters. They will subdue the rigging Army imported by Amaechi ".
Speaking further, he said : "All those celebrating the killing of Ogoni people will face the wrath of the people during the rerun elections "
He particularly berated Magnus Abe for refusing to defend his Ogoni kinsmen because of his desperation for political power. He said it was unfortunate that Magnus Abe joined Amaechi to describe the 28 Ogoni people murdered in cold blood as militants.
The governor assured the people of Rivers South-East senatorial district that he will construct critical roads, hospitals and schools in the area beginning next month.
He noted that the Sakpenwa-Bori road and Opobo link road will be awarded in April.
Governor Wike called on the people to vote PDP candidates so as to entrench development in the state without distraction.
Presenting party flags to candidates for the rerun elections, Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus said PDP has been winning all rerun elections because Nigerians are tired of suffering due to the failure of the APC to keep her promises.
He advised President Muhammadu Buhari to watch Minister of Transportation, Amaechi closely as he has already started claiming the position of Commander in Chief of the Armed forces.
Former Minister of Trade and Investment, Chief Kenneth Kobani said that Ogoni people will vote PDP candidates on Saturday , March 19. He warned that no soldier would be allowed to rig elections in the area no matter the intimidation.
He said the Ogoni people hold the Minister of Transportation and Magnus Abe responsible for the murder of Ogoni people by soldiers .
Also speaking, Senator Lee Maeba said since 1999 Rivers South-East senatorial district has always voted PDP. He said the March 19 elections will also be won by the PDP.
Thousands of PDP members from Opobo /Nkoro, Gokana, Oyigbo, Eleme, Tai, Khana and Andoni Local Government Areas attended the mega-rally.
High point of the occasion was the defection of two former Council Chairmen and their supporters from APC to PDP.

PoliticsOnly A Fool Will Obey Wike’s ‘resist Arrest’ Directive, Says Rivers APC by kcmichael(op): 10:09pm On Mar 10, 2016
The Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has condemned the directive by the governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike to PDP members to resist illegal arrests before and during the forthcoming rerun elections in the State.
The APC in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Senibo Chris Finebone, advised Rivers people to discountenance such inciting directive by the governor as it is capable of pitching law enforcement agents against innocent citizens of Rivers State.
“The APC wishes to advise Rivers people irrespective of political affiliations to act within the law before, during and after the March 19 re-run elections in Rivers State. This appeal has become necessary at this time with the backdrop of the highly troubling, inciting and unlawful directive by Gov. Nyesom Wike to PDP members to resist unlawful arrest by security agents,” the statement said.
According to the APC Spokesman, the APC believe that the directive by the governor to his party members was mischievous, dishonest and dangerous.
He said: “Indeed, it raises several questions. Did Gov. Nyesom Wike properly explain to his party members how to differentiate between legal and illegal arrests? As a lawyer, does the governor know that reasonable and lawful response to arrest [whether legal or illegal] is not to resist it which is in itself unlawful? Did Gov. Wike explain to his supporters the different dimensions and scenarios that resistance to arrest can result to?”
“The APC continues to be concerned at the desperation of Gov. Nyesom Wike for political power even when his methods portend danger to lives and property of the innocent and hapless. As a political party, the interest of the APC remains the safety and wellbeing of the citizenry irrespective of party affiliations. We believe that a state governor should sometimes drop the partisan toga and assume the more honourable task of safeguarding the lives and property of the generality of the people.

“Having been said to have climbed on dead bodies to become governor [apologies to Prof. Itsay Sagay], Chief Nyesom Wike should now realise that the killing and maiming of innocent Rivers people, whether members of PDP or APC, must stop immediately. Even as the leader of the PDP in Rivers State, he has no right to put the lives of PDP members in harm’s way through manipulations and grandstanding. It is enough that he has vowed to gatecrash into INEC and no ‘Boko Haram’ Army will stop him on election day; the APC wishes him well. But he must not take others along on his suicide mission.
“Quite frankly, the APC notes that the governor now acting like a bull in a china shop must realise that many have acted and even exceeded him in lawlessness, recklessness and false bravado in the past but history has its sad tales of them. If the governor is in doubt, when next he attends a burial at the cemetery, he should take a closer look at the writings on the tombstones. But like they say, ‘you may borrow trouble but do not lend it to your neighbour,’” the statement said.
The APC Spokesman called on well meaning Rivers people to stay out of harm’s way during the forthcoming elections by rising above the mediocre style of Gov. Nyesom Wike which bothers on obscene desperation reminiscent of someone on a suicide mission.
In another development, the Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has advised Oraye Franklyn, Chief Nyesom Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to be useful and desists from misinforming Rivers State people.
The APC in a statement made available to NF-Reports by its Spokesman Senibo Finebone said, “For very good reasons, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Rivers State chapter would have ignored the vitriolic attack targeted at our great party by Oraye Franklyn, Chief Nyesom Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Social Media. We know that a response obviously would dignify Franklyn’s unfounded comments but as a progressive party that is conscious of truth, we need to state the facts to avoid misleading the people.”
The party stated unambiguously that the APC has never and will never play politics with the lives of Rivers people, adding that to do anything of such would not only be immoral but sinful before God Almighty.
The statement further reads: “We are concerned about the safety of our people and that is why we have been speaking on the ugly developments in our state.
“As a party, we have remained at the receiving end of the violence and deaths that have enveloped Rivers State for over six years now. All we ask is for peace and security to reign because we know the consequences of anarchy. Our people have suffered enough.
“APC members across the state have been attacked and killed, sometimes in the presence of their families. More APC members have died over these unfortunate years and this is a fact that is well known around the state. And for these long years of strife, we have been speaking and calling the world’s attention to the daily attacks and killings taking place in our state.
“So we were shocked that a Special Assistant who lives and works in Rivers State will be so dishonest, uncharitable and bold in accusing APC of politicising insecurity.
“The question is: how can a party that has suffered more from insecurity, at the same time politicise the very malaise that gives it endless nightmare? As at today, insecurity pervades the entire length and breadth of all Local Government Areas of Rivers State. In fact, there is no local government where we have not had one form of killing or the other. Unfortunately, all the violence and death are traceable to the governor’s acolytes.
“I think all of us, irrespective of our different political affiliations, must be very concerned about a quick resolution to this crisis. We cannot achieve peace by deliberately writing and circulating falsehood just to score a cheap political goal. A Special Assistant will be more useful to the state when he desists from misinforming the very people he is paid to serve.”
PoliticsRerun Elections: Protect Your votes, Wike Tells Rivers People by kcmichael(op): 10:02pm On Mar 10, 2016
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has urged the people of the state to remain resolute in the protection of their votes during the forthcoming rerun legislative elections.

Commissioning the phase one of the reconstructed Nkpogu Bridge/Road and Ground Breaking for Phase 2, Governor Wike said that the people of Rivers State insist on free and fair elections.

He charged the people of the state to vote for PDP candidates during the rerun legislative elections for the sustenance of development in the State.

The governor said: “There is no need to allow the APC to come back to the state.  If you allow them to come back, they will scuttle development projects for our people.

“We are children of light. We are in the promisedland and we cannot return to the days of darkness represented by the APC “.

He added: “We must protect our votes to reclaim our mandate.  This is our opportunity to tell Nigerians once again that this is a PDP state”.

Commenting on the bridge, Wike said it was started from the very beginning to its completion.

He said the immediate past government awarded the contract in 2012 but refused to fund the project.

He said the bridge and road project will improve  traffic  between  LNG and Trans-Amadi areas of  the  town.

The governor called on  the  people  to cooperate  with the contractor  to execute the phase 2 within the  approved timeline and specifications.

The programme  was attended  by  the  Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, Former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia,  Former Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Austin Opara and Senator Lee  Maeba.

PoliticsUnbelievable As 9 Rivers Assembly Members Confirm Lamikanra As Chief Judge by kcmichael(op): 9:25am On Mar 09, 2016
Nine out of the ten members of the Rivers House of Assembly have confirmed the appointment of Justice Iyayi Lamikanra, as the substantive Chief Judge of the state.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Dabotorudima Adams, announced this after the nine lawmakers in the state House of Assembly sat Monday morning to deliberate on the request by Governor Nyesom Wike for the confirmation of the Acting Chief Judge as a substantive Chief Judge of the state.
After the Court of Appeal nullified the election of 22 members out of the 32 members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, nine PDP lawmakers were left, with Victoria Nyeche as the only APC member who won at the Appeal Court, making up 10 members.
However, Victoria Nyeche, is yet to be sworn in by the Speaker.
Nyeche, a two-time lawmaker, had argued before now that the Rivers Assembly as currently constituted could not form a constitutionally allowed quorum.
However, Chris Itamunola, a lawyer and Special Adviser to Governor Nyesom Wike disagreed.
He said nine members could sit and make laws because the constitution never anticipated what had happened in Rivers and it abhorred a vacuum in governance.
Itamunola argued that Victoria Nyeche had no locus to speak on what constitutes a quorum because she had not been sworn in as a member of the House.
The announcement of the confirmation of Justice Lamikanra no doubt would be subject to critical analysis by Constitutional lawyers and political analysts if nine lawmakers in a House of Assembly comprising 32 members could make laws in a situation where 22 members’ seats were voided by the Appeal Court

PoliticsRIvers Re-run Poll: Your Allegation Is Wild And Inane, Dawari Tells Gov. Wike by kcmichael(op): 2:09pm On Mar 02, 2016
Dr. Dawari George the APC candidate for Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency in the forthcoming rerun elections says his attention has been drawn to a media statement credited to Mr. Samuel Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Governor of Rivers State on Electronic Media, alleging that he connived with a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt to draw up a list of returning officers from the institution with the aim of rigging the re-run legislative elections scheduled for March 19, 2016.
Mr. Dawari in a press statement said ordinarily, such a wild and inane allegation would not have merited a response from him but regrettably, he was compelled to respond because the allegation was credited to no less a person than the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.
According to Mr. Dawari, the Governor was reported to have made the allegation when he hosted the Vice Chancellor and management of the University of Port Harcourt at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
The statement reads: “For the records, I am neither a staff of University of Port Harcourt nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The management of the University is not answerable to me or my party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Moreover the responsibility of enlisting electoral officials is the exclusive preserve of INEC and not an individual or a political party.
“As a politician and candidate in the March 19, 2016 re-run elections, I have conducted a sober, issue-based campaign. I have refrained from the indecorous campaign of name-calling and abuse which fail to enrich our political communication.
"In the circumstance, two main reasons may be adduced for this inane accusation: first, to injure my reputation, and second, to induce me to respond in like manner and thereby present me undignified before the March 19, 2016 re-run elections.
“It will seem to me that with the overwhelming support that my candidature is receiving from the people of the Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency across all political divides; the only tool left to my political opponents is to assassinate my character. I however refuse to be dragged into the arena of the weird war of words which has become the sad testament of Rivers politics.
“May I respectfully remind Governor Nyesom Wike that the office of Governor is highly revered. It thus imposes upon him a higher standard of duty of care for all citizens. Governor Wike may wish to cross-check all information fed him by people seeking his approval so that he is not sucked into making inane allegations against Rivers State citizens; otherwise the office of Governor will end up being ridiculed.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the people of Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency have had a taste of most of the candidates vying for their votes, and they alone will make their choice through the ballot.”
PoliticsBreaking News:aggrieved PDP, APGA Members Form New Party (PMP) by kcmichael(op): 8:07am On Mar 02, 2016
The disagreement within the Peoples Democratic Party came to a head Tuesday as some members of the party teamed up with others in the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, and other parties to form a new party.
The group, which held its maiden meeting in Abuja Tuesday, unanimously adopted Chief Perry Opara as the protem chairman of the proposed party which is named Peoples Mega Party, PMP. Chief Opara was an aide to former political adviser to Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, who recently filed a suit against the PDP and the then acting national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, and secured a judgement ordering Secondus to vacate office as acting chairman on ground that his acting role had elapsed. Addressing the meeting, Chief Opara said the leadership crisis within the PDP which had impacted negatively on its glory and future, had necessitated the need for the Peoples Mega Party, PMP. He explained: “The major people who are in the party are former members of the PDP who are disenchanted by the high level of corruption, high level of impunity and high-handedness in the PDP. ”They have decided to form something very new and they are of the opinion that they should hand over the party to younger elements who are less corrupt and who can fight for the interest of the people. “It does not mean that it is only people from the PDP, we have APGA chairmen from many states of Nigeria identifying with the new party, people from Labour Party, LP, and the Accord Party, AP. ”There are also disenchanted people from the APC that feel that they want a new place and that is what it is. Today marks the birth of this new party.” The proposed party adopted the picture of a human being as its logo, while its slogan is: “Forward Nigeria.” Chief Opara said the new organization would take the next step to approach the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for registration, adding that when registered, the party would focus more of its attention on recruiting the youths who constitute about 54% of the country’s population into it’s fold. The leader of the APGA faction that led its members to the new party, Chief John Agbara, who addressed NEC members, said: “After a wide consultation, we have decided to collapse the structure of APGA to PMP today. We are today full members of ‎the PMP.”
PoliticsGov. Wike After My Life – Sen. Magnus Ngei Abe by kcmichael(op): 1:25pm On Feb 29, 2016
Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Rivers South East Senatorial District re-run election has expressed fear that his life could be in danger because of the level of conspiracy against him by Governor Nyesom Wike.
Speaking at Silverbird Rhythm fm 93.7 news and current affairs programme tagged: “The ViewPoint”, in Port Harcourt, Abe said that there had been a meeting of militants in Ogoni sponsored and masterminded by Governor Nyesom Wike against him.
“There is an evil in Rivers State and I have chosen to speak against it. If anything happens to me, Nigerians, Rivers, Ogoni people and my family should hold Governor Nyesom Wike and his PDP people responsible because the threat against my life is too much”.
Abe said that he fears a situation where he could be attacked and the Rivers State Government led by Wike would paint a picture that his people killed him because of the Yeghe crisis.
He noted that the Ogoni people love him and would not do such except outsiders or those who could be sponsored by the state government.
He said that the governor and PDP were seeing him as a strong voice from APC that must be silenced at all cost.
The former Secretary to the State Government narrated how the governor at Luuwa in Khana Local Government Area during the 50th birthday of Senator Lee Maeba had charged his supporters to stop him by all means, pointing out that he specifically said to stop and not to vote against him.
He further said the ripples of the threat were beginning to manifest with the Yeghe crisis, attempt to malign his reputation and now a meeting of the militants.
He stated that all their plans would fail as Ogoni people are now wiser

PoliticsWhy We Upheld The Election Of Okezie Ikpeazu As Abia Governor - Supreme Court by kcmichael(op): 9:56am On Feb 27, 2016
The Supreme Court has given reasons behind its earlier verdict setting aside the Judgement of Justice Oyebisi Omoleye led Five member Appeal Court Panel of Justices which sacked Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
In an unanimous decision, the panel of Supreme Court justices agreed that the Lower Court erred by declaring the candidate of All Peoples Grand Alliance, Alex Otti the winner of the governorship election .
The panel led by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed held that the Appellate Court usurped the power of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which is the only organ empowered to cancel polling results.
The court also faults the Lower Court’s reliance on card reader for its judgment.
According to the Apex Court, the card reader machine has no statutory backing in Nigeria’s law and should not be used to determine a winner in any election.
The panel also held that the allegation on voting was not proved as the petitioner failed to tender voter’s register to substantiate his claims.

PoliticsArmy Did Not Tell Me Before Going To Yeghe In Ogoni - Wike by kcmichael(op): 1:18pm On Feb 25, 2016
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that all those involved in the killing of innocent Ogoni people and residents of Ogoniland will be brought to justice , saying that nobody will be allowed to play politics with the lives of Rivers People.
The governor declared that the military must subject itself to civil authority, pointing out that as Chief Security Officer of Rivers State, he was not informed of the operation that led to loss of innocent lives of Ogoni people and residents of the area.
He accused some politicians of deliberately instigating crisis in the state to create room for the evil declaration of state of emergency plotted by enemies of Rivers People.
Governor Wike spoke on Thursday when led the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr Musa Kimo and top police officers on a fact finding mission to Yeghe community in Gokana Local Government Area, affected communities in Bori and Mortuaries where those killed by soldiers were deposited.
He said: "The Rivers State Government will take up this unfortunate incident with the appropriate authorities. The military must subject itself to civil authority. I am the chief security officer of this state. Before any deployment of soldiers, I should be informed, but in this case I was not aware.
"I will always support the security agencies in the fight against criminals and criminality, but I will never support the killing of innocent persons. That is why I am here today for an on-the-spot assessment. I have seen for myself the destruction in Yeghe and the killings that took place. I went to the Mortuaries to see the corpses and the relatives of the deceased confirmed they were killed in the operation".
The governor stated: "I have told security agencies to be careful so that they are not misled by politicians. As your governor, I have never used soldiers because I don't need them. When I see people not in government moving around with soldiers, I am surprised. If you are popular with your people, you have no reason to move with soldiers. "
While urging the Ogoni people not to take the laws into their hands, Governor Wike said: "All those who masterminded these killings will face justice. They are busy causing crisis because of their evil plan to declare a state of emergency in the state. Since they failed in my case, they will fail in others because God is greater than them".
Governor Wike noted that he has always advised the military to arrest criminals and hand them over to the police for prosecution in line with the rules of engagement and not to take actions that would harm innocent citizens.
He denied ever making inflammatory statements on the Ogoni political arena, saying that he only campaigned for his political party. According to him, it is within his political right to guide the people on the electoral choice they have to make in the interest of the state.
Governor Wike said that the state government will hold a comprehensive security council meeting on Thursday on the Ogoni Security Situation.
A statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media noted that thousands of wailing bereaved widows, youths, children, widowers and traders at Yeghe and Bori displayed photographs of loved ones killed by soldiers. They also displayed placards condemning the military operation that claimed the lives of their loved ones.
He urged those who fled their homes to return as his administration has taken measures to check a repeat of the ugly incident.
Bari Zikpo, a retired police officer, told the governor that his first son was killed in the ill-fated operation by the military. He said the operation claimed many others in the town.
In Bori, David Gbarazie informed the governor that he lost his brother to the military operation.
Also in Bori, the Igbo community also informed the community that the military killed some traders in front of their shops. Spokesman for the Igbo traders in Bori, Mr Michael Akuchi said a trader Livinus Nwafor and his brother Kelechi Nwafor were killed by soldiers.

PoliticsRerun: Rivers Should Be Treated As A Special Situation – Peterside by kcmichael(op): 9:01am On Feb 25, 2016
Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the April 11 2015 governorship election, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, on Tuesday said recent events in the state has confirmed his fears that some people are planning to attack members of his party in the March 19, 2016 rerun elections in the state.
Peterside, who decried the recent killings in the state as well as the burning down of Senator Magnus Abe’s constituency office in Ogoniland said Rivers state should be treated as a ‘special situation’ if the institution of government places value on human lives.Describing the situation as a worrisome trend, Peterside also called on the relevant authorities to wade into the situation
“The situation is a worrisome trend. Recall that that 24 persons were killed in Omoku last week and now miscreants attacked the army in Yeghe and burnt down the office of Senator Magnus Abe.”
“Each time they visit violence on the people without a response from the security agencies, it diminishes the confidence of the people on the institution of government. What has happened in the past few days in Rivers state is an indicator that some people are planning to visit maximum violence on our people
“It is now left for government to rise up and defend the people. Without doubt, Rivers state should be treated as a special situation if we want votes of the people to count and if we place and value on human lives,” he said.
PoliticsDasukigate A Childs's Play Compared To Wikegate- Rivers APC by kcmichael(op): 8:55am On Feb 25, 2016
•Urges urgent probe of Wike’s looting spree from his days as a minister till date
The much publicised $2.1 billion arms fraud popularly known as Dasukigate is a child’s play when compared with the looting spree at the Federal Ministry of Education under the watch of Chief Nyesome Wike, the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said.
The party made the submission while reacting to the recent revelation by the Peoples Coalition Against Corruption ( http://saharareporters.com /2016/02/05/anti-corruption- group-makes-shocking- revelations-against-rivers- governor-nyesom-wike and http://www.elombah.com /index.php/reports/press- statements/4908-groups- says-rivers-governor-wike-is- atrociously-corrupt) concerning the alarming fraudulent deals of Chief Wike, the incumbent Governor of Rivers State, right from his days as Minister of State for Education and later as the Supervising Minister of Education.
The group had alleged massive theft and diversion of resources from TETFUND, the swindling of over N100 billion Universal Basic Education Fund, as well as the conversion and diversion of over N20 billion of the Ministry of Education budgets in four years under Wike’s watch. In addition, according to the group, “Between 2012 to and May 29th 2015, Nyesome Wike using his position as Minister of State for Education caused to be awarded to himself through his companies and cronies several contracts which he did not execute but for which he received full payment. For instance, on the 28th day of June 2012, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under the hand of Engr. E. Eshett awarded the CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF RUMUEPIRIKOM INTERNAL ROADS (PHASE 1 & 2), OBIO/AKPO to CICO INDUSTRIES LTD for the sum of #2,673,121,782.24 (Two Billion, Six Hundred and Seventy-Three Million, One Hundred and Twenty-One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eighty-Two Naira and Twenty-Four Kobo). Beside the fact that CICO INDUSTRIES LTD is not a Civil Engineering company they were awarded with the contract for the construction of Rumueprikom Internal Roads and have been fully paid by NDDC, using his crony Hon. Henry Ogiri. CICO INDUSTRIES LIMITED did not execute that job. Instead, in 2015, upon emergence as the Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesome Wike, knowing that the same road had been awarded to him through MESSER CICO INDUSTRIES LTD for which he had been paid did without any form of compliance with the Rivers State Procurement Law and in other (sic) to cover his criminal act and intention, surreptitiously awarded the same RUMUEPRIKOM INTERNAL ROADS to RENNIER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY (RCC) for even a high amount than the pricing of the NDDC.”
Rivers APC in a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, and issued Wednesday in Port Harcourt, described the revelations by the Peoples Coalition Against Corruption as a tip of the iceberg. “Based on what we know of Chief Wike’s activities in government in the past few years, we make bold to say that these revelations by the Peoples Coalition Against Corruption represent a small fraction of Wike’s corrupt acts. As a matter of fact, Wikegate, if we may call it that will make Dasukigate look like a child’s play when the full details are made known,” Rivers APC said.
The party appealed to the Presidency and relevant Federal Government agencies to launch without delay, a full-scale investigation into Wike’s fraudulent activities as a minster and now as a governor with a view to recovery public funds lost in the process. Rivers APC also called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the staff of NDDC that aided Wike in his looting spree, Rivers State Government, CICO, RCC, as well as the bank officials that colluded to swindle Rivers State and Nigeria.
“As we commend and congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari for his drive to eradicate or reduce corruption to the barest level possible in our nation’s polity, we wish to encourage him not to relent no matter the odds and the efforts of corrupt Nigerians to fight it back. We totally agree with him that if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill us as a nation,” the party stated
PoliticsAppeal Court Judge Who Nullified Wike's Election, Promoted To Supreme Court by kcmichael(op): 8:37am On Feb 25, 2016
The National Judicial Council (NJC) is expected to release the name of two new justices of the Supreme Court tomorrow.
Following the retirement of Justice Afolabi Fabiyi and Justice Muntaka Coomassie, four justices of the appeal court have been interview to replace them.
The NJC hold its first quarterly plenary for this year on Wednesday and Thursday.
It was learnt on Monday that a major item on the NJC’s plenary would be consideration of the outcome of the interview conducted to fill two vacancies at the apex court bench.
According to reliable sources in the judiciary, four candidates, who are currently Justices of the Court of Appeal in various divisions, have already been interviewed for the available two slots.
It was learnt that Justices Ejembi Eko and Monica Dongban-Mensen were interviewed to choose a replacement for Justice John Fabiyi, who retired in November 2015.
Two other Justices of the Court of Appeal, Amina Augie and Garba Lawal, were also said to have been interviewed, in order to fill in the vacancy left behind by Justice Muhammad Muntaka-Coomasie, who retired on February 10.
Either Eko, who hails from Benue State, or Dongbam-Mesen from Plateau State will fill in the slot of the North Central geo-political zone on the bench which became vacant with the retirement of Justice Fabiyi, who hails from Kogi State in the same zone. Augie or Lawal will replace Muntaka-Coomasie who hails from Kaduna State.
After the NJC’s plenary, the name of one of the two candidates will be forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari, who is vested with the powers to appoint.
The number of the Supreme Court Justices last week dropped from 16 to 15 with the retirement of Justice Muhammad Muntaka-Coomasie, who attained the mandatory retirement age of 70 on February 10.

A transcript of the impromptu speech delivered by Senator Magnus Abe to over 40 thousand Ogoni people at Bori on the 21/2/2016.
I want to welcome everybody to this event today and also give special thanks to the Khana Connected Friends and everybody in that group. I have put my fate in the hands of the youths of Ogoni because this election is for the benefit of the future and the youths are the future. Whatever they want to do with this election is what will happen, so I have put my fate in their hands.
I want to respond to one thing I noticed about our supporters. Anyday they hear that some people have decamped to our fold, they keep asking why we accept decampees. I want to answer to them that in the sky there are many stars and non has ever pushed another away in order to shine. So if the sky can accommodate every star, then APC can accormodate every decampee.
Today I want to tell you a story. One day, the child of a snake and the child of a frog went out to play together as friends. After having a field day playing together, they both returned home to their mothers. The mother of the frog asked her child "where have you been since morning?", the child retorted that he has been out playing with the child of a snake. The mother fumed in anger and sternly warned her child, "never ever in your entire life play with the child of a snake again. Are you hearing me? The day you repeat that risk, you will be dead. The child of the snake will swallow you as food."
The child of the snake also came home and complained of hunger. The mother asked him, "where have you been since morning? I have been looking for you all over the place. Where were you?" The child of the snake responded that he has been out since morning playing with that child of a frog. At that disclosure, the mother was enraged. "Can you see how stupid you are? Don't you know that the child of a frog is your food? So you have been playing with your food all day only to come here and complain of hunger. Come on, run away from here and go and look for that your friend and eat him up. He is your food"
The child of the snake ran away and saw the child of the frog from a distance and yelled "my dear friend, please come close, let's play again as usual". With wisdom all over his eyes, the child of the frog responded, "my friend, whatever your mother told you, my own mother also told me".
On Saturday, Governor Nyeson Wike came to khana, and he told the people of Khana that the only thing he wants from them is for them to fail Sen. Magnus Abe in the senatorial election. Someone should go and tell him that WHATEVER IT IS THAT HIS OWN MOTHER TOLD HIM, OUR OWN MOTHER HAS ALSO TOLD US. What did I say? I said, and I want to repeat, somebody should go and tell Governor Wike that whatever his own mother in Ikwerre land told him, our own mother in Ogoni land has told us.
Nobody can deceive us. Nobody can call us fools. Why would the election of Senator Magnus Abe be more important to him than the one in his own senatorial district? Why should the election of Senator Magnus Abe from Ogoni be more important than the one in his own senatorial district? That thing that makes this election more important to him than his own makes it more important to you than any other election. It is for that reason that we cannot afford to lose on the 19th of March. We must come out and vote. This is our own thing. Nobody can make us begin to go back to the time that we want to go away from. I know the importance of this election to the Ogoni people. I know the importance of this election to the people of Rivers South-East Senatorial District. And I know that nobody, however well proportioned the person may be can love us more than we love ourselves.
We have seen several governors. Nyesom Wike is not the first. By now, the Ogoni people know that there is no governor that can love them more than they love themselves.
If Nyesom Wike loves Ogoni people, he should start with the ones working with him. Why did he suspend a man without even hearing from him? Himself was a council chairman. Fred Kpakol was a council chairman. What made him higher than Fred was that his brother was governor. If Fred'd brother was governor, Fred would also have been higher than him.
They say the sermon in an evening service is usually not long. Today, I don't want to talk too much. I just want to thank you people. The work we have to do is ahead of us. When I see you people, I am strengthened. When I see you people, I am strong. When I see you people, I am confident. When I see you people, I know that victory is sure. When I see you people, I know that my people are with me. And if your people are with you, you have nothing to fear.
This election is about people. Whoever has the people will win the election. I have the people because I have you. As long as you are there, nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody can steal our mandate. Let me repeat what I have said before. Dr. Benneth Birabi told me that there was no slave of Ogoni extraction because Ogoni people refused to be slaves. Even when there was no government, there was no army, there was no police, there was no constitution, our forefathers did not agree to be slaves to anybody. Now, how can you be a slave in your own land? Is that possible? (Crowd, Noooooo)
So let us go home and prepare. If they come from the north, we shall meet them in the north. If they come from the south, we shall meet them in the south. If they come from the east, we shall meet them in the east. If they come come from the west, we shall meet them in the west, but we shall win!
Thank you and God bless you.

PoliticsRivers Assembly Re-run: APC, PDP Clash At Peace Meeting by kcmichael(op): 2:16pm On Feb 19, 2016
The Rivers state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday clashed at a peace parley with service chiefs, Political parties and their candidates in the forth- coming National and State Assemblies rerun elections in the state.
The meeting was organized by members of Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security and political parties and their candidates in the March 19, rerun polls.
In his opening remarks, the chairman of the meeting and Commissioner of Police (CP), in the state, Musa Kimo said, the meeting was meant to assure political parties and their candidates of the Agencies readiness to assist the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the state to conduct free and fair, violent-free exercise and to also appeal to parties and candidates to advise their members and supporters on the need to conduct themselves peacefully during the elections, adding that they (security operatives), will not fail to deal with according to the Law, anybody caught violating the law and the electoral Act, irrespective of who.
Kimo’s speech was welcomed by all the participants. However remarks by the state Chairman of APC, Chief Davis Ibianmu Ikanya, which suggested that the killings in Omoku, the home town of the state chairman of the PDP, Brother Felix Obuah was masterminded by members of the ruling PDP turned the hitherto peaceful session into a theatre of commotion, as PDP members in the meeting reacted angrily as they insisted the APC retracts the statement before the meeting could move on.
More than 20 persons, including women and children have reportedly been killed in a fight which started in the area last Saturday. The PDP and APC have traded blames and counter blames on the matter. While the APC claims that the fight was politically motivated against it members and supporters ahead of the upcoming rerun, the PDP maintained that it was rival cult war, and that the APC is making false claim.
The APC sate Boss said 24 of his members and supporters have been killed in the mayhem and called on the police for proper investigation and possible arrest and detention of the culprits before the election dates.
He recalled that 95 APC members were killed across the state during the last general elections, and now over 24 of his members have been killed in Omoku alone, alleging that PDP members should be held responsible for the killings.
Reacting to the APC, Obuah called on the Police to invite Ikanya for questioning on the killings in Omoku, alleging that his statements suggests concluded plans to cause breakdown of Law and Order in the state.
“The APC chairman must be questioned for all the allegations he has made, by his statement, it is obvious that the APC has concluded plans to cause breakdown of law and order in the state.”
In his statement earlier, Kimo said, “…all the security agencies in the state have promised to be impartial in discharging our functions before, during and after the re-run elections.”
Also, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Aniede Ikoiwak, reiterated the use of Card Reader machine in the election, assuring that “a level playing ground” would be provided for all the candidates
PoliticsBREAKING NEWS: Who Has Bewitched The PDP?, By Femi Fani-kayode by kcmichael(op): 2:09pm On Feb 19, 2016
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) adopted Senator Ali Modu Sheriff (aka SAS), a two-time ANPP governor of Borno State, a former ANPP senator, the former Chairman of the All Peoples Congress (APC) Board of Trustees and the indisputable founder of Boko Haram as its Acting National Chairman.
Modu-Sheriff is also the erstwhile godfather and sponsor of Governor Shettima Ali, the present APC Governor of Borno State (until they fell out); he is a man that has a very deep and profound relationship and association with Idris Deby, the President of Chad and he is a man whose son is married to the daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Many have argued that his allegiance is more to the Republic of Chad than it is to Nigeria; that he is an agent of the Chadian intelligence agencies; and that he is a Chadian citizen who often flaunts his Chadian passport. I cannot confirm the veracity of these assertions but one thing that I know is that most of Modu Sheriff’s funding and stupendous wealth emanates primarily from the Republic of Chad, and that that country is as much a home to him as is Nigeria.
Yet, it is not his connection with Chad that give me cause for concern. Rather it is his role in the establishment of Boko Haram. The truth is that appointing him as our Acting National Chairman is like appointing Jack the Ripper as the leader of the Conservative party in Victorian England.
Kudos must go to the elders in the PDP Board of Trustees, a number of State Party Chairmen and a number of key individuals in the PDP Ministers Forum for taking a courageous and noble stand by rejecting and resisting the imposition of this abominable monstrosity.
What Ali Modu Sheriff stands for and represents is utterly repugnant to every fiber of my being. Yet I have no objection to his being a member of the PDP simply because politics is a game of numbers. It is a game in which everyone, no matter how big or small, counts. If you want your party to grow and make progress you must accept the good, the bad and the ugly.
To this end when he left the APC and joined the PDP sometime back, I was one of those who gladly welcomed him into our ranks and defended him in the public realm. This was at a time when others criticised the party for accepting him.
There is however a world of difference between accepting him as one of the many leaders of the PDP and appointing him as the Acting National Chairman. Others may seek to justify such a course of action but I cannot, in good conscience, do so. To me it is a matter of principle. If we accept this, then on what moral grounds did we condemn or oppose the APC or the APC-led Federal Government during the course of the last presidential election?
On what basis can we accept as our National Chairman a man who helped to create an organisation that wishes to establish sharia as the norm in our country, repeal all our criminal and civil laws, ban all our civil liberties and human rights, proscribe the teaching of western education in our schools, turn our women into sixth century sex slaves and abrogate the secularity of our state?
If we are comfortable with the likes of Ali Modu Sheriff leading us then on what basis did we criticise and oppose President Muhammadu Buhari for appearing to support Boko Haram when he said “an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north”? If we insist on Ali Modu Sheriff being our National Chairman then we may as well go and apologise to the APC for all our past criticisms and condemnations and join them.
On what basis can we accept as our National Chairman a man who established, encouraged, supported and nurtured an organisation that later metamorphosised into Boko Haram? This is a terrorist organisation whose ultimate objective is to turn Nigeria into an Islamic fundamentalist state by the use of terror and the force of arms?
On what basis can we accept a man to lead us whose Commissioner of Religious Affairs when he was Governor of Borno state, one Alhaji Buji Foi, was the de facto operational commander of Boko Haram? The man was later murdered by those closest to him after investigations into who and how Boko Haram was founded commenced.
On what basis can we accept as our leader a man who supported a group that wishes to suspend our constitution, wipe out the Christian faith and the practice of moderate Islam in our country and create an evil ISIL-type empire in our nation?
I really do wonder whether those that made this decision have lost all sense of rationality? I wonder whether they have lost their ability to see reason properly and to exercise their discretion in a logical, responsible and lucid manner?
I wonder whether they have lost their fear of God? I wonder whether they have forgotten the evil that was visited on our people, and is still being visited on them, over the last seven years by Boko Haram? I wonder whether they know at whose instance it was that Mohammed Yusuf, the erstwhile leader of Boko Haram, was killed by our security forces whilst in police custody in 2009 just so that he wouldn’t live to tell the whole world who gave him the funds to set up his murderous cult?
I wonder whether they have forgotten the terrible havoc that Boko Haram unleashed on our citizens? I wonder whether they have forgotten the tears, wailing and suffering of the bereaved. I wonder whether they have forgotten the slaughter of the innocents. I wonder whether they have forgotten those that were beheaded, those that were chopped to pieces and thrown down wells like dog meat and those that were burnt alive?
Simply put has the leadership of the PDP gone completely mad or are they working for elements outside the PDP? Are they suggesting that you need a godless Haramite to run the affairs of the party before we can ever win power at the centre again? Where is the patience and fortitude that is required from true leaders? Where is their faith in God? Where is their sincerity of purpose?
I wonder whether they have forgotten the savage and bestial rape, murder and abduction of the Chibok girls and all the other little girls that suffered a similar fate in recent times? I wonder whether they have forgotten that our nation is still at war with the bloodthirsty barbarians that committed these atrocities?
Since when did we, as a political party, lose our memories and jettison our moral compass in this way? Since when did we become so callous, shameless and insensitive? Since when did greed and the lust for power and money determine and motivate our every course of action? Since when did we throw away caution, decency and principle? Since when did we become so barbarous and uncivilised?
Since when did so few make a decision that will affect the lives and fortunes of so many in a profoundly negative way? Have we forgotten about the priests and servants of the Living God who were crucified by Boko Haram at their own church alters? Have we forgotten those that had their homes, schools, churches, mosques and properties pillaged, robbed and burnt to the ground by this group of godless Phillistines? Have we forgotten that the international community, through the International Terror Index, has rightly described Boko Haram as the “most deadly terrorist organisation in the world”?
Have we forgotten those gallant young military officers who were killed at the war front whilst fighting this evil plague, all in their quest to keep us safe, to secure our borders and to protect our property and people? Does all that count for nothing? Is this the way to pay them back for their great sacrifice and their noble courage? Are we prepared to throw away all decency and morality just to seek favour with a handful of misguided mortals and in a futile attempt to win political power?
Simply put has the leadership of the PDP gone completely mad or are they working for elements outside the PDP? Are they suggesting that you need a godless Haramite to run the affairs of the party before we can ever win power at the centre again? Where is the patience and fortitude that is required from true leaders? Where is their faith in God? Where is their sincerity of purpose? Does the leadership of the PDP really believe that it has kept faith with the founding fathers of the party, those that trusted them with power and those that bestowed them with leadership?
There were so many other people that they could have chosen to lead our party from the North-East. There were people like Mohammed Wakil, Nuhu Ribadu, Bala Mohammed, Wilberforce Juta, Aliyu Modibbo, Ahmed Gulak and so many others that could have been appointed. These are all committed people with impeccable records of public service, high moral standing and good character.
Instead of doing so the leadership of the party chose to impose the most controversial, intellectually-challenged, morally-depraved and despicable character that they possibly could to lead us and when asked why they did so we were told that it was because “he has plenty of money to spend on the party” and no less than “5 private jets” to lend out to those who needed a free plane ride. Evidently we have sold our birthright and heritage, not just for a mess of pottage like Esau, but rather for a free ride on a private jet.
This is what a party that was once led by successive groups of seasoned and formidable intellectuals and great men of power, vision, courage and good character has been reduced to. This is what the party that was founded and once led by giants like President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Tony Anenih, General Ibrahim Babangida, General Aliyu Gusau, Alhaji Adamu Ciroma, General T.Y. Danjuma, Vice President Abubakar Atiku, President Umaru Yar’adua, President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Bode George, Col. Ahmadu Alli, Chief E.K. Clark, Professor Jerry Gana, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, Chief Ken Nnamani and so many others has degenerated to? What a pity! What a monumental tragedy!
Imposing Ali Modu-Sheriff is an insult to all those that have fought for, led, served, defended, supported and risked everything for the party, at every level, over the last 17 years. Only the deeply malevolent can be comfortable with such an arrangement.
This is a party that once boasted of having in its ranks many promising and dynamic bright young stars that were collectively capable of shaking the very foundation of the civilised world and creating new frontiers and greater hope for the future of our people and our beleaguered nation. How are the mighty fallen.
What on earth has happened to us? As the Book of Galatians in the Holy Bible asks, “who has bewitched us”? Over the the course of the last 17 years, in terms of the quality of party leadership, the PDP has gradually descended into the unceremonious cesspit of mediocrity. Worst still, with the recent appointment of Ali Modu Sheriff as our Acting National Chairman, we have chosen to spit in the wind, sleep with the dogs, dance on the graves of our fallen heroes, piss on the blood and bones of the slaughtered innocents and wallow in the filthy pool of compromise, deceit, doublespeak and shame.
As a consequence of this calamitous decision we have, literally overnight, become a shell, nay a shadow, of what we used to be. Unfolding events will prove my assertion true. I have no doubt that time will eventually prove me right and vindicate me.
The bitter truth is that this arrangement is an affront against the Living God and it cannot stand. Yet if it does stand the party will pay a heavy price for it because it will inevitably lead to the end of the PDP as we know it.
Imposing Ali Modu-Sheriff is an insult to all those that have fought for, led, served, defended, supported and risked everything for the party, at every level, over the last 17 years. Only the deeply malevolent can be comfortable with such an arrangement.
It is evil. It is godless. It is indefensible. It is shameful and as long as it stands the PDP does not have the moral standing or authority to criticise or condemn others. Those that made this decision behind closed doors and without proper or wide consultations have murdered sleep.
They have not only betrayed the confidence that the rest of us bestowed upon them but they have also prepared the coffin for our great party and dug its grave. It is a tragedy of monumental proportions and I have little doubt that God will judge them for what they have done.
