How do u adjust the ph Level of ur farm

In the short run treatment, where the PH is less than 5.0 and you need to plant plantain. It will be erroneous to plant plantain in such land because plantain strive well in an alkaline soil. So all you need do in this case is apply lime(CaCo3) to the soil. But the method of application and Qty to apply depends on the soil fertility test result.

However, if you farm land has PH of 6.0 then you may just go ahead and plant your plantain sucker. But you will have to apply fertilizer either organic or inorganic. Fertilizer application usually bring the PH of the soil to alkaline level. Though the Qty of fertilizer to apply is important

18 plots of land? That's 3 acres...that's a lot to start with going into cucumber farming (my opinion though). I also want to believe you have done a very thorough feasibility study all the way to marketing your cucumber; your guess is as good as mine what a 3 acres cucumber farm would give you under proper management.

Moreso, I do hope you have an experienced cucumber expert supervising your project. This isn't a gamble biko. This is real investment, and internet cucumber farming advice may just not cut it for you.

Nevertheless, wishing you all the best. God's speed and definitely a bumper harvest.

U said it all, wen investing in cultivation of crop, we always advise you learn as an aprentist from an experience farmer for as long as you get all the directions needed after which u can safely set up yours. Or you may hire the service if an expert if you are engaged with other work.

Cash spent in any of the two is never a waste because it secure your investment and minimise lost in produce and cash...it also save quality time where you have to start allnover because you didn't get it right at first.

If you have been following up this thread, i can catigorically say you have more than enough info needed to set up your own plantain plantain plantation. U dont have to wast any more valuable time.....you do not need milions to start up......if you have over one acre of land and can not afford to buy Hybrid sucker enoufh to cover the whole farm land just start with one acre and grow into a large farm over time transplanting to other areas.........

Plantain is known to grow only in regions with tropical climate. So, if you want to start your own plantain farm, you must make sure you acquire suitable land with the right soil composition for your plantain farm. On the average, you might need at least 2 hectares of land if you want to go into commercial plantain farming. Once you have been able to secure a farm land, the next thing that you should do is to prepare the land. In preparing your land for your plantain farm you might have to adjust the PH value of your farm land if it is not suitable. How do you ascertain if your farm land PH is not suitable? By conducting a soil Analysis also known as soil fertility testing.. Also in preparing your land for plantain farming, your laborers would have to dig holes all over the land where the suckers (plantain seeds) will be planted. But what measurement to use depends on some very important factors. There are merits of over crowding and demerits of over crowding on yield of fruit.

I don't agree with this goggle farmers how can they plant 2.500 pepper on one plot,12.000 stands on 1 acre(6 plots),it will be a struggle to fit 2500 stands in 4 plots,and the 60-45 cm spacing just made me laugh,the recommended spacing for hot pepper on FAO site is 5feet×4feet,we did 4×4 feet square but before we start harvesting the whole place was covered,if land is small the closest spacing is one elephant shovel length from one plant to another square,60cm/50cm is for cucumbers, pepper/garden eggs are measured in feets.
