Education / Re: Did You Graduate With A First Class? How? Your Mistakes And Lessons Learnt by kennyjam: 4:23am On Mar 11, 2019
Zico5:

For the first year, add the first and second gpa together, then divide them by two. whatever u get is ur cgpa at the end of two semester. For the cgpa at first semester of the second year, subtract the new gpa from the cgpa and divide by three, then add the result to the cgpa of the first year. For the Forth semester, subtract ur new gpa from the cgpa and divide by four, then add the result to ur cgpa. it's as simple as that.

this is not the ideal method, at all.

this is just an approximate method with + or - x. to the exact cgpa.

sure nothing is impossible with God, as for the OP, I'm not trying to make him loose his moral, I'm in 200 level, my GP is 4.56. it's very possible for me to graduate with third class, that's life for you. With 2.5 one can graduate with first class, one just have to be a bit perfect with A's.

But, with 1.0, we all know 100l is the easiest year, and most times, even if you don't read at all with the SSCE and JAMB test knowledge you have, you can get above 2.0. your calculations for someone studying a 4 years course will be exactly 4.5, so the person have to be extra perfect, but still I think first class isn't possible because you find out the unit load decreases, the average unit load from 200 level to 500 level use to be less than 100 level, so any one entering school without scaling well through 100 level it wouldn't be easy for such person get 1st class. As for the OP and any one like him, it's very possible, just be prayerful and read well.

Thank You!

That's impossible

That's what makes the story exceptional.

Before concluding on the impossibility, try doing the analysis.

Let's do a very rough analysis (not the conventional method of Cgpa calculation ).

1st semester=1.00
remaining 9 semesters=(9 x 5)=45. I'm assuming he had 5.00 in the rest semesters and it's a 5year course (10 semesters).

Cgpa at the end of 10 semesters=(45+1)/10=4.6cgpa.

As I said, it's not the conventional method.
the said guy was said to have graduated with 4.5x(x=1 or 2) CGPA.
In addition, he had no carry over in that first semester just filled with D's and E's.

Thank you.

OP, Nothing is impossible with God !

you think you've heard it all?
Go to Madonna university and listen to weird expulsion stories that will make your ears tingle.
A set of twins were expelled because the founder believes that twins shouldn't stay together. If you separate them one dies, according to him.
Someone went home for wearing an armband, which was tagged cultism,
Students have been suspended for wearing a Jalabia.....they were tagged terrorist.
Tattoo nko, no try am! Galas hairstyle? You are on your own!
As a graduate from that institution, I've heard it all with expulsion stories

This experience sharing will help the Undergraduates to serve as eye openers and also make them avoid it

thanks bro for sharing.

We have heard or witnessed several stories of students being expelled due to one reason/crime or the other, ranging but not limited to impersonation, cultism, etc be it in your school or other schools.

I have heard of several cases where a guy(usually of a higher level) will impersonate and help his girlfriend to write her exam, and he was caught and then expelled.

Please share your stories or experiences.

softy:

Hmmmm, God is ur strength bro.

Where can I start now ooooooooooo....?

OK.

My motivation then:

1. God factor : with God all things are possible.

2. Time factor and Curiousity: how best do u make of ur time.? How well do u want to learn and apply new things to ur current knowledge in engineering or science?

Remember : there is time to read, there is time to relax.

For example: Those days, I could read up to 9 hours non stop but nothing enters my head after 11pm, even when reading for the simplest course subject, taking my time slowly and making sure I understand the problematic page before I move on to the next chapter. Created time to look for more materials apart from the Lecturers Handouts. Created time to peruse through and connect every dots on the I'd of any difficult topics. Created to play football, laughed harder through comedy movies, watched ICT or SciFi movies to open u up for scientific curiousity.

Funny abi? But these funny things made me an OVB student when I graduated.

Note pls: what worked for me may not work for u, because of our individual differences.

2b. Be positively passionate and committed, not emotional but constructively be truthful to the matter at hand - being a successful student.

3. Be humble, learn from others, don't argue unnecessarily. Don't think u are perfect. Yearn to learn new things. Create positive environment for urselves not minding the storms of life that could be discouraging. U need to shine forth. Learn from people mistakes. Mingle with people that u are convinced that are better than u. Teach the little u know to those who know lesser than u.

For Electrical Engineering books:

There are billions of soft copies of Electrical Engineering Books on the internet. Use "wikipedia" to ur advantage all the time.

Learn how to draw and remember Electrical drawings, learn how to remember formulas without mincing them. Learn how to meditate on those formulas, this helps slot. Don't cram, u will forget and develop unnecessary headache, at the long run.

Finally, Continuos Assessment is usually 30 marks or 40 marks as the case may be or based on the course lecturer. While exam could be 70 or 60 marks respectively.
Be strategic. Strive 22/30 or 28/40 or more, if not everything in CA.

For exam strive to have 48/70 or 42/60 or more, if not everything.

Target to always high marks in 3 unit courses.
Target not to have low marks in 2 unit courses.
Avoid carry over or repeated course always.
Don't have over confidence attitude, it results to outright failure.

When u are getting the crown little by little, don't be proud..... Help people solve mathematical problems. Be crazy about mathematical manipulations because it cuts across all ur courses in engineering apart from GST courses.

Solve a lots of past questions.Be highly resolved about this, please.

Get a further mathematics texbook to understand the rudiment of calculations in courses.

Get Engineering mathematics 1 and 2 for easy mathematics calculations.

Above all, determine and be focus, to have a very good and excellent grade, then the Good Lord will add better values to ur secret hardworks.

Thank u sir. God bless u. We will meet at the top.

Nobody has it all. God will make u successful in the journey.

Yes u can be the best of what u are!

Amakababe:
not trying to pry, but could you tell me how many hours you studied daily and stuff like that?

Do you think if I try to read 8 hours everyday, that'd would excessive?

I would have jumped your comment but I can't help this one.

you only need one remedy, which is understanding how your brain/body works best.

it's not the number of hours you read but the understanding you gain when you read.

one question; are you really using the resources at your disposal efficiently,no matter how limited they are?

if you understand yourself, you get to know your strengths and weaknesses and then convert them to your mechanical advantage.

By God's Grace, I'm am one in the making.

Not leaving prayer out.

Bonne Chance!

what's ur present CGPA after 200L?

to be Sure whether u can make first class or not, take all the remaining courses for the remaining semesters and assume grades (A's mostly and few times B's ) ,use it to compute it...

As far as It's mathematically possible, it can be done By His grace.
