Kenosym:
Good morning Segzy, and thanks for this post to warn innocent clients who wants to do genuine business with Vendors here on nairaland from falling prey of the fraudster, Chekitaut. Unfortunately, I had fallen prey already before your post became very clear. I first saw your post when I was about entering business with chekitaut, but at that point, so many still considered him genuine, and you too harsh and being too quick to come online to paint him black for a failed delivery which could have happened due to unforeseen circumstances. So I considered your issue with him as a temporary set back he can quickly correct, little did I know it was deeply rooted in his nature.
I imported a Howo truck from China an gave this guy to manage on 24th October 2019. Although the truck had an accident when an amature was moving it to another terminal for clearing, hence he had to tow it to his base. I paid for the towing, transferred a lot of money to him to fix it, and for more than a month and half this guy keep saying that he was repairing the truck to bring it to the standard he wants, to ensure it will be reliable for his use. The money I sent for the repair of the truck was within the first 2 weeks from 24th October, and those repairs were clear and the parts receipted. For the next one month, he kept claiming he didn't want to bother me, and that he's shouldering the expenses for the repair to bring the truck to his standard, always insisting the truck hasn't started working.
Finally, he accepted the truck started working on 9th of December, and that he would pay me on 13th since our agreement is on weekly payment. He also confirmed to me at the end of that week that the truck worked very well that week but gave no reason why he didn't pay me on Friday as the agreement stipulated. By evening of Monday 16th, of the following week, he picked my call and said he was going home and would pay when he got home. By Tuesday I called and told him to move my truck to Lagos from Abeokuta so another person can take it over, that I was fed up with his lies. That was the last I heard from the guy even as I write. Most time his number doesn't go, sometimes it does without him picking. I've sent WhatsApp and he isn't responding, I've also noticed he stop visiting nairaland.
I was concerned that something might have happened to him, maybe one of his debtors arrested him, until I called segzy this morning and he confirmed he mistakenly picked his call 2days ago thinking he was a client waiting for him for delivery. Hence, I decided to take an action by warning other prospective innocent clients from falling prey to this fraudster. I sure will further follow up by sending the Police/EFCC after him to retrieve my truck and all he owe me.

Its indeed a horrible experience but one that comes with doing business in Nigeria, I hope I don't get involve with this kind of fellow again.
With great relief I took back my truck yesterday without involving any force, no police nor gentlemen of the EFCC. This has been the most important thing to me. I appreciate everyone on this forum for their support and kind words.
My most indebt appreciation is to Rotech77 for his relentless effort to ensure we settle this issue amicably. Sir, your kind rarely exist in this part of the world. Spending your time, comfort, money on calls etc. to mediate between persons you knew not from Adam, just so peace will reign and not for any gain, is exemplary. The Lord bless you and grant you peace on every side.

@chekitaut, I truly wish you well in your endeavors.

Mavor: Too much. Drop to 6. Are the parts in the market?
This is acura and you can easily get its part in the market. Besides, this is barely used at ~22milage and would not need any serious maintenance except regular servicing until maybe 2015 cool.
Still under warranty, only that there is no acura dealership in Nigeria to continue providing the service warranty. N6M is at arm rubbery rate, it doesn't go at all.

AutosRe: Total Cost Of Clearing A Vehicle In Nigeria by Kenosym(m): 12:58pm On Oct 23, 2013
@shithapuns na so them tell us but go quote this publications to them custom officers. Na him be say you want make them rape your vehicle finish for wharf and you go still clear am with wetin them tell you. Them no get wetin to loose but na you we yah vehicle dey for Port.
AutosRe: Total Cost Of Clearing A Vehicle In Nigeria by Kenosym(m): 5:30am On Oct 23, 2013
I decided to pay the guy what we finally agreed, which is N1M to clear because I would not want the vehicle to stay at the Port a day beyond what is necessary considering the vehicle has arrived. I called a friend of mine who is a custom officer and he confirmed that these rogues (custom officers and the people who made and published the new tariff and told the masses it will take effect sometime next year) had gone behind to start implementing 'the new tariff' which only God knows how they arrived at and those that approved it. In fact my custom officer friend told me that he saw a duty paper for same model of my car, Acura ZDX 2010, with a duty of about N900k, and advised that the agent is sincere and trying to look for a lesser deal could land me with fraudsters.
Don't say he is conniving with the agent because they dont know each other and he had earlier wanted to clear the vehicle for me but I told him I would use the agent because of my earlier commitments to him, so he could have use this opportunity to make me give him the job, but he commended the sincerity of the agent.
The vehicle is Acura ZDX 2010 shipped from Baltimore, Maryland US, and landed at Tincan Port. I don't know the shipping line used because a friend helped to ship it and I never asked because it wasn't necessary for me.

I have Acura MDX 2008 coming in on 2 Nov., shipped from same port. I don't know what will happen when it gets here, however, I'm determine to utilise any opportunity I have to ensure I don't get into this same position with the ZDX. Maybe you can give me the new rate for clearing the MDX '08.
AutosRe: Total Cost Of Clearing A Vehicle In Nigeria by Kenosym(m): 11:18am On Oct 22, 2013
What is the make and model of the vehicle been cleared? - Acura ZDX
what shipping line did it come on? - Dont Know
was it shipped roro or containerized? - shipped roro
how much did he charge you to clear it? - N700,000
and how much more is he asking for now? - N350,000
AutosRe: Total Cost Of Clearing A Vehicle In Nigeria by Kenosym(m): 6:31am On Oct 22, 2013
@Femmy2010 please is it true that custom has started charging the new tarif on imported vehicles from last week. I have a vehicle currently at the wharf and the agent I had contacted to clear it added about 50% on the amount we earlier agreed insinuating that this is due to the new tarif.
I'll appreciate if you can give me the feedback soon to help me decide on what to do.

BusinessRe: UBA Charges COT On Savings Accounts: Be Warned! by Kenosym(m): 9:59am On Mar 27, 2008
UBA is not only the worst Bank in Nigeria, but a terible one. Could you imagine deducting 105 naira for every withdrawal, even from ATM, calling it up coumtry withdrawal. I withdrew 5,000 naira from an ATM at Lagos, though my account was opened at Awka, and 105 was deducted from my account. And apart from that, other charges was taken which the customer care could not even explain why it was deducted and asked me to check next time for the explanation, but who has the time for that, but the time I think I have was to withdraw all the money I have in the account and opened another with another bank.

Could you imagine a bank deducting money from customers account, which their staff could not even explain.

Upcountry withdrawal my ass, why then online banking when you deduct money just the way you please from pple's account and term it whatsoever you so wish to.

Imagine withdrawing about 700,000 thousand naira from a savings account and they charging me about 4,500 naira and comfortably telling me that its for upcountry withdrawal.

But I think I still need to be objective here, does other Banks charge this or is it only UBA that does this?
