PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by ketoprofen(m): 9:22pm On Aug 26, 2014
ChrisOD: But there is also looting and corruption among other Nigerian zones, yet they manage to invest more in their zones than elsewhere.
That's what we shd be talking abt. Investing more in the SE to serve us better and not to raise revenue for FG that doesn't care.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by ketoprofen(m): 9:21pm On Aug 26, 2014
ChrisOD: You are right, but those individual, unaccounted for, oftentimes officially unspoken, family wealth cannot put you on the global map. How can you do simple economic stuff like measuring GDP, per capita and others similar stuff with such love for the informal sector? This is 21st century.
Global map? Which ones? what put Lagos on the global map is FG investments esp those ports n other investment which attracted service companies and created a cycle.
I was only trying to educate that super mofo, that SE is not as dry just cos it is not contributing much to the FG .
As for GDP generating tnz in the formal sector , these are tnz done by the govt which they have failed to do for se .
Like I said, u don't do them for the heck of it, the politicians shd be made to swear they will use them.
Imagine states with high gdps having the highest debt profile, does it make sense?
Let's not be carried away by these tnz when there are better tnz to worry abt
PoliticsRe: Current State Of Ariaria International Market. by ketoprofen(m): 8:48pm On Aug 26, 2014
abagoro: Theodore Orji is not a competent leader. He has some mentality that is keepinghis state infrastructuraly deterred. His problems are enormous when compared with Abia allocation and he is not working on increasing the IGR to raise funds or even borrow to aid infrastructure. From every information I have Abia seems to be the least indebted State in the Southeast and Orji has even reduced their debts by paying off reasonable fraction. Maybe he believes that is an achievement even though its a mark of incompetence.

The next Governor should declare infrastructure in Aba a state of emergency and start by demolishing houses and creating deep artificial rivers that will serve as natural drainage even before embarking on any form of road construction.
y won't he borrow to see the sufferings of the most creative citizens in Nigeria come to an end? He is just not thinking.
And I heard he has beef with Aba people, who threw satchet water at him

superstar1: You could not have put it better. Well done.

The stemming down.of emigration wave, should be their priority, rather than looking for things that are not possible :

1. Political power in other people's region
2. State of residency to be the basis of citizenship.

They are only assisting others to build their economies, regions and even countries. Yes, they have supposedly real and unreal mansions in their villages, but those are not contributing anything to the macro and micro- economics of the region, as a whole.
Erroneous.
There is a diff btw contributing to the FG and contributing to urself .
The SE is economically buoyant as a lot of activities go there but the revenue from them dont go to the FG.
If u mention ur LGA of origin, it can't match the greatness of nnewi or aba or onitsha for eg, but all the money from nnewi go back to the private individuals that own the investments.
Its not by chance anambra n abia are two of 5states with the largest cash flow or anambra having the 3rd highest conc of banks and bank deposits.
Get your facts right first.
PoliticsRe: Current State Of Ariaria International Market. by ketoprofen(m): 8:30pm On Aug 26, 2014
abacrested: the problem with Aba is not flood rather is bad leadership, even without flood the roads are impassable, asaba and Uyo that u posted are London compared to Aba while aba is strategic more than this cities.Do u know the amount of money that revolves in Aba? The aim of posting this pics is to expose the bad leadership in the state.4get politics and face realities.
And how many times wl u keep facing realities when its obvious the gov doesn't care.
If Theodore had any shame, he could have done the roads since 2007 that we have been creating these threads

abagoro: Enough of this campaign against Igboland and gullible Igbos falling prey.
Thank u.
I don't know how many times they wanna create this kind of thread, imagine 2 Aba thread created in a week. what changed?
None of them come here to showcase Aba made products and so on, its all about the governor.
However, the gov should tar the roads first, and maintain sanitation, let's know that the only thing remaining is flood.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by ketoprofen(m): 7:58pm On Aug 26, 2014
ChrisOD: We can argue about the population until tomorrow. So let each one of us hold on to their belief. As as far as the law of give and take follows, there is no way we Igbos will migrate out of Igboland to the extent that we do and still have a huge pop in SE that can be said to be larger than those of other groups who migrate far less.

As for your other point, Yes, I agree with you that Igbos cannot contribute returns from their private investments to the FG who have invested less in Igboland than elsewhere. Still, wealthy Igbos in SE should pay commensurate taxes and levies so that such revenues can be used to boost SE's IGR.
And u don't just go abt paying taxes just to raise igr for the heck of it, if the politicians won't use it for anything, then we will keep doing the pocketing.
Tell me what Theodore orji did with the taxes he collected from Aba? If Nigerian politicians keep looting these tnz, what's the essence of being happy that ur region has a highest igr while at the same time it has the biggest debt profile?
As for population, the Chinese r everywhere, china is still densely populated. the presence of many northerners in the south has not prevented the northerners from thinking north is more populated than south.
How many impt cities are in many states of NE that will make them think SE is the least populated, Do we know how many sprawling towns we have? plus they migrate from the north too.
The thing is if u are successful in other places , ur migration becomes obvious unlike those that migrate to the east for eg to beg.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by ketoprofen(m): 6:34pm On Aug 26, 2014
ChrisOD: Are you saying that SE is more populated than other zones? Do you want to argue that the unprecedented migration of Igbos does not affect SE population? You must be kidding. Even if God comes down from heaven and conducts a census tomorrow, the SE will very likely be the least populated. But like the OP said, let's differentiate the SE from Igbo in some of these arguments about population and wealth. Igbos are doing well, and most likely the largest ethnic group in Nigeria, but the SE is really not (at least by southern Nigerian standard). Of course my points are limited to the issue under discussion here.
SE is not the least populated in the south, my friend.
i cant be giving myself headache for not giving the FG much when they didn't participate in setting up ventures in the east. even if u move all Igbo private ventures in the east, it will be same tnz.
Lagos contribution comes from FG investments as ports; SS from the oil which FG claimed, so the only thing that wl raise the contribution - to - FG - status of SE is direct FG investments,, ports for eg.
Otherwise, they shd go n sleep. They didn't give us, we are not giving them.
U can't tell Onitsha biz men to empty their revenue to the federation acct, for what? na FG build the mkt?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by ketoprofen(m): 5:01pm On Aug 26, 2014
@ Op, don't tell me u believed that useless census?
SE was under counted but its thickly populated, the fact that igbos exists in large numbers elsewhere go to explain that Igbo population is underestimated.
However, since the FG didn't invest anything in SE, and is not allocating much to se, what were they expecting in return in the name of contribution.
I also want to point out that SE is the most non oil productive zone in southern Nigeria, with a high cash volume.
It contributes oil too.
The cash goes to the individuals cos the latter made it, and not the FG .
I also support that our large scale ventures n industries that are in non SE areas be relocated, while leaving our branches in other places.
What we contribute to the FG shouldn't be our headache, after all the FG is not thinking of how to give out to se!
Hence, we shouldn't pay heed to the nonsense said by the lazy, dependent people who don't contribute much to the GDP of their own states.

I believe what is surviving the thread is good governance in the state because there are a lot of good development to write about. That's reason any thread about Imo State where I come from ends as war front because of visionless, corrupt and confused governor. I jealous Enugu people to be sincere. @ dagbokoncept, u are contradicting yourself, if u like write epistles from now till tomorrow, igbos both their men and women maintain the sanctity of marriage better than yorubas.
Yorubas are morally loose as far as anything that has to do with adultery is concerned.
Where is ur evidence to prove yorubas are more moral than igbos, when ur ppl actually celebrate infidelity?
Igbos are trained to believe that marriage is sort of a cage, if u enter na u and that person.
Hence anybody that errs on this usu hides it from his family and friends.
..
Don't use xtianity of the igbos to cover up, cos there are Yoruba xtians too, which don't exhibit anything diff from the rest of yorubas.

Mayor_of_Lagos: For a Biafran prophet, Ojukwu was a very bad seer. He saw everything since 66, except the need to build alliance and save his people from perish..he was blind to that, and even when prophets from other land pointed to him what they saw, his huge Biafran eyes still was blind to it. Well, as we head to 2015, does prophet Ojukwu sees Jonathan winning the election?
Ur own awolowo fought on the Nigerian side because they promised him presidency if Nigeria wins.
Nigeria won, and abokis kicked him to the gutter.
Now, what vision did he see which convinced him that a northerner can easily bequeath power to an alien?
And they frustrated him even more when he tried contesting .
And he swallowed rat poison to end his miserable life.
.
what were u saying about ojukwu?
Bfr he embarked on the war, he had already done a lot to avert it.
Did he even ask for war?
Dont u know abt aburi?
He only declared Biafra so that Nigerians can enjoy their land flowing with milk and honey

ndu_chucks: When Nigeria's economy was primarily sustained by Groundnut and Cocoa, and many of you people were still subsistent fishermen, we didn't hear a word from you. When we spent millions of naira on oil exploration, losing millions where we found nothing, we didn't hear from you people. When we found oil inland and spent millions more to drill, we did not hear from you people.

Now that you are receiving royalties via government allocations to your states, you are now yapping that its your oil. How much have you invested in oil exploration? Let me guess - zero Naira.

To add to the insult, some of you have the guts to lay sole claims on offshore oil!! What foolery.

Lazy fools should ask their governors to invest only 0.000001% of the free money they receive to develop offshore fishing and supply all of West Africa with frozen fish. Some of you simply come across as lazy ingrates.
Did the ppl of SE/SS ask u to drill oil for them?
Whose money were they using to search for the kind oil?
Wasnt palm oil and coal sustaining the east bfr?
Where are u getting ur idea of fishing?
Northerners are not lazy but reap where they do not sow, using violence. After getting the said oil wells, the wealth is only concentrated in few northerners, the vast majority are poor.
Yorubas on the other hand are simply lazy.

So because it's not done with pride and thus behind closed door makes it a lesser crime?

The impact of infidelity on the recipient is the same and that's the way you ought to be looking at it. Inherent risks attached to infidelity is exactly the same black or white, yellow or pink, igbo or yoruba.
Leave that thing, the point is that igbos respect the sanctity of marriage more than yorubas.
Igbo men are more monogamous, they cheat when they have no option; not making the wife know means they respect the feelings of their women which is very impt to women.
Yorubas walk in and out of marriages like they are going to church, that means they are not committed, that will be very heartbreaking for a gal born in an Igbo environment. .
