centje: The post below, by cjrane, highlighted a point i made initially. When we say federal presence, it's not whether the federal capital is physically sited in a place. Nigeria saw the mistake we made in planning of lagos as capital and didn't want to repeat the same in Abuja. How often do you hear that a factory, refinery etc been sited in Abuja...the design is to make Abuja cool, and to have an administrative feel. Again US has a different system from ours. In our own system, too much power is concentrated in the centre.

The point i was trying to let you see is this. Take a closer look at Chime's projects. You did see a government trying to create a better environment to attract investments. Imagine if such a person has more power and fund at his disposal. He made a good decision, With the presence of international airport, Enugu needed to be revived for the potential investors to take the state serious. For instance, I can still remember how refuse dumps filled streets in enugu, but now you hardly see such.

Investors don't put their money where they are not assured of securities and other facilities necessary for smooth running of business. And it's the job of government to provide such, and watch investors come in.

donroxy: There are what we call ''field of life'' and each nation must be well represented in each field in order to maintain balance ...

If those with certificate are unproductive, then who would you blame ... ?

The knowledge or the personality who failed to use the knowledge ?

@one point in your life , you are an apprentice of somebody abi you wanna tell me you just jump into your business without getting education @least from those that have been there ?

If you now failed as an individual to effectively used the knowledge they gave to you in building your business to success , who do you blame ?

You see, you are still not thinking straight and this must affect your business no doubt :

why can't Coscharis also go for PhD and do for himself what those PhD are doing for him?

Why do Coscharis need those PhDs if education is over hyped, what are those PhDs doing for Coscharis that he could not do himself ?

why PhD, why not someone like you dominating the fron, middle and back of Coscharis?

If you have an higher IQ, you would know that Coscharis is wiser than you in multiple folds and that is why He is Coscharis and you are whatever you are !!


PhDs are philosophers , they are highly oriented in research and problem solving skills and ability to contribute to knowledge by relating with any philosophical issues bordering on problems within and beyond their field of study as well as their area of specialisation !!


In life , there is what they called Division of Labour and no man can actually has it all .....

The work requirement of a PhD is so voluminous that he would never be able to concentrated on developing an enterprenuership venture unless such is an academic venture .....

Also, Coscharis is a busy man in his own right that he will never be able to concentrate on his PhD ....

You either keep your PhD certificate and get far away from academic/professional matters and nurture your business to success or you abandoned your business , employ someone to manage it for you and go back to school for your PhD

it is all about Interest and passion and it is all about where you think you wanna be to contribute to the development of your economy !!!


If you wanna know what PhDs innovated/Created, you have to go and do research in Nigerian Universities and see for yourself ......

It is easier to get drop from school and start a business ..... Go and ask how easier it is to pass through 3years of Academic Excellence and a Unique Research that must be contributing to the present level of knowledge !!!


The last time we checked the statistics the number of people that didn't go to school are higher than the number of people that does ........

Nigeria is one of the educationally backward country in the world

It is people like you who later in life find the reason to own a particular certificate and do one crash programme that are responsible for Nigerian Backwardness ....... You are the one responsible for unemployment ........

Some one like you can never go to school for knowledge but certificate and going by your IQ, it is people like you who would stole Billions of Naira .......


Check google and see for yourself how educationally backward Nigerian is and you can still opened your mouth and say few ones that are educated among 170million population are the ones responsible for our backwardness !

IGBOSON1: ^^^I think Lagos shared the same fears that Ebonyi had: that they presently have some measure of independence, and if we revert back to regionalism (6 regions) they may become subjugated and their resources carted off to the regional capital where their 'noisy' and 'stronger' neighbouring kinsfolk will either take more than their fair share, or sideline them in decision making through sheer strength of their numbers!

I know Ebonyians are aware some Igbos think they're more 'Igbo' then others, and they're not having it!

Lagos refusal of regionalism was tactical than any thing else.
In a few years time ,after the founding of odua states , you will know the reason why.

GreyBlood: Education is nothing but a feeble rehash of already established theories. You are forced to believe theories put forward by others thereby making your thinking limited.

Have you ever wondered why most people don't perform well in school? It's because they are forced to think, reason, understand and try to adopt the beliefs of other people. The best way to be the best is to be yourself, but forcing you to be or think exactly like the other person will only make you an imitation. Who taught those people we are learning from? Does it mean that they are the only intelligent people the world has got? Does it mean we can't use our intelligence in different ways and attain good results?

I could remember when I was in sch, there was a guy in my class who hates all these long calculations in further maths. He went and devised/propounded a formular he will be using; it's shorter and simpler but our teacher always cancels his works and warned him never to use his own formular again. Now who will give such guy a chance to prove his own intelligence?

Now, if you failed to use your certificate/knowledge to eat or do business then that is your own failure in life not anyone .....

I have so many illiterates businessmen!!!! around me , and majority of them usually tell me, their business would have gone more better and higher if they go to school ......

Without some certain certified academic degree from recognised institutions some certain organisation won't do business with you and if your competitors should acquire this qualifications , then your business will suffer defeat !!!

I hate to say this, Seun might also be making tons of money from politicians in Nigeria, due to how partial he's towards a particular party. So, once you start counting money you can't see, then Seun should be making ten times whatever money that blogger is making.

You honestly think spamming gazillion of ads on a page makes you more money, no? For the gazillion of ads on that blog, it's one page view regardless of the number of ads shown per page. How many top-earning websites have gazillion of ads on their homepage? Most don't even have any visible one - and most times when they do, it's probably just one or two.

And nairaland isn't your typical forum, it's a news-portal with a lot of miscellaneous things meet forum - with more potentials than most forums. Let the traffic and the income it generates daily based on proven FACTS be the judge. Not some lousy claims by a duffer.

You probably don't like Seun - and I'm not a big fan of the guy and his methods as well. However, you can't knock his hustle and be oblivious to facts, even when they're staring at you in the face.

Er, a good comparison that will correlate with this one would be to compare huffingtonpost.com to bossip.com. Despite bossip.com having gazillion of ads on it, it will never make as much money as huffingtonpost with the 0 or 1 ad on it (huffingtonpost stopped being a blog time ago, it's a news portal now - while bossip is a blog).

And by the time the 150 active users and 200 guests on this page finish viewing this thread, refreshing every two minute to view new comments - this page alone should have more hits than what the blog gets in a day.

So, basically, just one advert on this page alone, should make more money for Seun than all the adverts on that blog combined today.

EmoBoy: If seun is happy and content with the way nairaland is and the revenues he earns from the business, I see no reason why we should drink panadol for his headache.

Owning a blog and owning a forum are two different things. Forums don't make much money like blogs (unless they're heavily monetised). Top blogging sites earn hundreds of thousands of revenues every month while forums usually struggle with less. The reasons linda makes more money than seun is not far fetched.

Forum users generate the content and not usually the owners. It is usually we nairalanders who source for news and information to post on this site, all seun does it to regulate and moderate. When last did he post any news concerning any topic? But linda ikeji sources for information and stories herself. This makes her an authority. The same cannot be said of nairaland where every tom, dick and harry can post anything he/she likes.

Linda Ikeji is also a blog that gossips about your favorite celebs and personalities. This attracts people more than anything.

Linda Ikeji is more social and talks about her personal life some of the time. She is also a woman and she's cute, hence people will patronize her more.

It is easier to navigate though linda ikeji's blog than through a forum like nairaland.

Linda has more flexible advertising options for businesses than nairaland. That means she monetizes her site better than seun.

There are more reasons, but I'll stop for now and like I said before, if seun is happy with the way nairaland is and the money he makes, then we shouldn't complain about it.




However, as owner of the most visited indigenous site in Nigeria, Seun is terribly messing up. Seun no vex, but thats my opinion.

How stupid when internal capacity is lacking. You lack a skilled labor force. You current model of growth is a corruption of that of places like Kuwait when you should be looking at the likes of Germany, Japan or China all of which have a large technical labor force which makes the goods myopc people in power love to have or use.

red101: Because they spend a lot of time reading. many avid readers develop myopia or nearsightedness.
It's not a bad thing to read books, it makes you smarter, but make sure you do so under appropriate conditions. Make sure the area is well lit, put the book at an appropriate distance from your eyes and make sure the print is large enough that you don't have to strain your eyes. Take breaks every 20 min from reading and make sure to blink multiple times per minute.
Spend time looking at far away objects to train your eyes. because if you read too much or concentrate on seeing things that are close to your face, you might gradually lose the ability to see far away objects clearly (aka nearsightedness).
eat lots of carrots and vegetables that contain vitamin a. they're good for the eyes.
Same advice goes for those who spend a lot of time staring at the computer screen.
