Nightshift: I was hoping to see the big scaring masquerades - Ijele, Okpoma, Ogbangbada, etc .

These are kids masquerades, which looks more like the ones in Rivers state. When did Igbo masquerades start displaying bare feet to women and uninitiated people?

Perikomo is certainly not amused!

@ OP, its no brainer.
We igbos know that's what u think, only that it won't work for u as far as 2015 is concerned.
U are moved by cowardice because buhari commanded u to come and join him so that the northerners dreams can be achieved.
After which they wl frustrate u like they did Awo and Abiola.
U guys never learn.

TribalEAST: if it were for the igbos alone, it would have been called igbowood but it is called Nollywood and the N stands for nigeria just like G in Ghollywood stands for ghana, or do you see the ashantis laying sole claim to ghollywood?

Nollywood is owned by all tribes in nigeria, it just has the yoruba, hausa, igbo and english arm. Educate yourself
We are talking of English nollywood, its owned by igbos.
Mere presence of few Yoruba actors doesn't amount to ownership.
U ppl were the ones saying that igbos now act in Yoruba movies, does that mean igbos own Yoruba nollywood?
.
The only kwanta there is that 2moro, Yoruba will start whinning that igbos want to dominate them in their own industry, u know Una sabi talk that kind insecurity talk.

Ayekotoo: no one disputes these with you. what I believe they are asking is that yoruba speaking movies are more popular/ better than Igbo speaking movies which are even insignificants
Yoruba movies are inexistent in the east while Igbo movies are there.
Igbos in SS/SE don't even know yoruba movies exist, those that are even aware say via dstv don't watch it and don't know anything abt it.

Even at that, Igbo spoken movies are still produced, and it received a big boost in 2013

Toks2008: Though this is a digression but it was Yoruba films that laid the foundation of Nollywood before the branding talking about the Herbert ogundes, the Baba salas, the Adeloves, the popular Igbo irumole that Igodo copied and so on.
ur ogunde didn't lay the history of the industry, nollywood.
Nollywood as an industry started with igbo spoken living in bondage in 92.
Igbos were making movies before the living in bondage but the latter went fast to the world and an industry started.

TribalEAST: i told you to mention your igbo seasoned musicians that sing purely in igbo then compare them with these guys: yinka ayefele, lagbaja, pasuma, kwam 1, tope alabi, osupa etc.

Note# the above names appear on newspapers, blogs, cable tv and they perform live and win awards home and abroad. Where are their igbo counterparts? Sleeping or non-existing, cos you would have mentioned their names instead of what you wrote up their.
u will easily pick their names cos they are from ur: village.,

TribalEAST: hey kid, reason well.
@Bolded

nollywood english section is not owned by igbos but by all nigerians, igbos only dominate. The only section they own is the igbo section dat produces only 1% of nollywood movies according to the source i quoted.

the english section contains yoruba, hausa, igbo, other tribes and ghanain actors but dominated by the igbos. Can such be said of the yoruba and hausa arms? TV soaps like super story, dear mama, everyday people, disclosure, fuji house of commotion, papa ajasco etc all done in english language contains actors from all tribes and the shows are majorly owned by yorubas.

what happened to olu jacobs, sola fosudo, joke silver, femi brainard, yemi blaq, funke akindele, van vicker, majid, yvonne nelson, ini edo, segun arinze, nadia buhari etc who all act in the english section of nollywood? Did they all become igbo overnight? Most of them arent even nigerians.

igbos dont own nollywood. Shikena
ngwa, keep deceiving urself.
Even Yoruba movie makers understand Igbo owns nollywood and talk about it.
The other day, they were a cussing igbos of marginalizing them.
Are olu Jacobs and omotola not in the English section again?
That we accepted to employ ur ppl doesn't mean the status quo changed in anyway.
So, what about the Igbo soaps of Clinic matters, Masquarade, and so many others on TV?
.
My dear, we have mainstream nollywood

paranorman: The easiest in nigeria is either hausa or yoruba.. Talkin from experience mehn..
Hausa sounds romantic, its a one way language..
Why i'd choose yoruba over hausa is because of this reasons:
the yoruba race is the most learned in Nigeria, the language has also evolved over the years.. Its unique in the way it flows with rhymes and beat.. That why musicians sings better in yoruba.. Also, i think all most all hymns originally written in english sang in churches translated to yoruba, when you sing in yoruba still possess the same number of syllable in each line of the song and same rhyme... I am not sayin other languages dont have translations but preservin the number of syllables in each line of the hymn and rhymes of the same song/hymn in english is not always as unique as in yoruba...

The yoruba also borrows words from english language... Just like bible-bibeli; temple-tempili..
In years to come, yoruba generations would speak a language that would have so much integrated into english..

I like Hausa, that language's so romantic and easy too..
All the tnz u mentioned up there is applicable to all southern nig languages

TribalEAST: we read newspapers and watch cable TV everyday, how come its only flavor and other yoruba indigenous singers we see? Where are the other igbo musicians? Who are they? Do they sell albums? Are they sleeping? Why cant they succeed in lagos? (succeeding in lagos is succeeding africa). Are they ghosts? Why arent they recognised? Maybe cos they are palm wine joint singers.

Dont mention oldschool igbo musicians cos they've lost relevance unlike the yoruba musicians i mentioned who are still seasoned musicians.

You guys better hold on to flavor and promote him.
And am telling u that u are staying in the village if u think flavour is the only person singing in Igbo Lang.
Who even knows those yorubas u mentioned up there?
U left davido, and few others and went and started listing ur village singers .

I'm not gonna engage you in an argument on who is better between Amosun, Aregebsola (who are under four years in government) and a Chime (who is almost eight years in government)

All I can debate on are the human development indices in the state and the economies when they took over and now which I can tell that these two men whose names start with A are far ahead

As impressive as Chime's performance is, you left your native Ebonyi, passed through Enugu and came to trade in Lagos. So much for how well Chime's performance is attracting his kinsmen into his state
Same way foreigners leave their lands flowing with honey and come to make profit in Nigeria.
Are igbos not everywhere in the world, what's all these about Lagos?
