I would like to be clear. Is there a site or publication in which NNPC specifically said they are looking to employ btw 1,300 to 1,500 persons? or is it just hearsay, If there is, kindly refer me.

We uploaded these documents during application, and the hardcopies were collected during the interview. So, i don't think there's a need for this.

Bro/Sis, u will be wasting time to think NNPC will go and print those documents u uploaded online during application.

Furthermore, the hard copy u went with on the interview day have been stored inside massive Ghana must go bags. If u observed u would see big bags at the back of those guys calling names at the amphitheater. Nobody will go and search for successful
applicants file there.

U will be required to do fresh documentation.

Not boasting here but to let you know that when some people don't comment here it's not because they don't know how to do so but will rather keep silent on what they know concerning this recruitment untill NNPC finally decides to send APL alerts.

I only comment here once in a while, and I must say am enjoying the suspense every minute.

U obviously didn't get point. Read again and comprehend. Probably just help u. Good luck to u when u get the APL. Just know u just boasted, the 25% chance left that u won't get the APL is quite alot u know.

Back to my post, I am letting u know, the pple that come here to say they heard pple that haven't been paid will get APL are in the same boat with u( none alertees).

Meanwhile some other persons have also said from their sources that there is no correlation btw APL and and they are both alertees and non-alertees.

I strongly stand behind what I stated. Everything I've stated Previously on this forum has been concrete information provided to me by one person and one person only. This thread feeds of negativity, and I'm not into that kind of play. It seems you've already picked up the stone you want to use, or the sniper some people want to give me on the 10th. Stay patient...... Your APL is coming either on the 9th or 10th. The only caveat is if you didn't do well during the interview.

If there is anything u shud take out from this is, if another applicant had the boldness to source for the JD from the coy before the interview he may stand a better chance than u with an only google researched Jd. Being proactive is expected from us all.

Let no one think he doesn't have right to ask before the interview. U all do. Note before the interview and not on the interview day.

Most times we just argue when we Dnt know the other persons perspective. I see ur perspective clearly.

My point is there is no harm in asking for the JD before the interview even after u have done all those research. U are not impressing any panel because u have done so before the interview.

Independently researching about a company is a given. It is something u should do as well as job description. It is makes so much sense to do.

For a GT role, just researching the organization and job role may be sufficient, but as u go higher in ur career, get some boldness and ask for a JD before the interview date. U r not bugging the coy. Its ur right to know what entails in the role u are being interviewed for.

I have over 10years experience and I have never gone to a referral job interview before seeing the JD. 99% times the coys have sent it to me while the 1% time I have asked and it was sent immediately.

And for ur information u Dnt impress the panel becos u didn't get the JD bfore the interview. The panel don't even know if u have it or not. They expect u to know what u are coming to interview for.

U may just have a person from Hr on the panel, who doesn't know anything abt the role u are being interviewed for. While the rest of the panel members are from the dept u r needed.

U only impress the panel out of the questions they ask. Not because u didn't see JD before the interview.

Regardless of the state of any organization's HR function, once you are referred/apply for a role, it borders on common sense to research the organization & job description whether provided or not, so as to tailor interview answers accordingly. For all we know, the omission could be deliberate to assess the problem solving skills of the applicant.

There is hardly any interviewer that wouldn't be impressed if you deliberately structure your answers to demonstrate a solid grasp of the job requirements. Works every time.

Asking that question was a total no-no.

We all have agreed at the point of the interview it was wrong to ask abt the job role.

Needed to point out if you get a referral for a job, its good practice to ask for the JD, if the coy fails to send to u. It is a standard practice for the coy to furnish u with it. It can't be an intentional omission. The coy doesn't know what is obtainable.

No matter how u research the JD, except its in the space (sector) there could b one or 2 things u may miss out. In terms of systems, kpi etc. And if the interviewer ask on those issues and u r not prepared. Its becomes an issue.

Always ask abt the JD from the coy if it wasn't a publicly advertised role before the interview for better preparation.

As a follow up, like Benflash said, he also could have asked for it from the referee or even the HR, to go through it before the interview.

Even a well Google researched JD for the role in the specific sector would give u a great insight but may omit an item, the head of the dept where the vacancy exists, hold dearly.

To be candid if there are other candidates who were referred also and did as good as he did, he may be dropped.

I dont agree one needs to see the advert or be told the job description before one should know what a job entails. All you need to know is the job title.

A financial controller does generally the same thing almost everywhere. Ditto for a tax manager, an accountant, a marketing officer, a reservoir engineer, a procurement officer etc.

For someone to recommend you for the job, that means you have the qualifications (an engineer wont be recommended for an accounting job). So from the job title, you are expected to know what the job entails.

If you don't know, you should have googled it - eg Job description of a procurement officer. A simple research on the internet will get you that.

I will also be turned off if someone asks me that question at an interview.

Organizations that knows what HR is wont from the beginning act irresponsible. It is usually small org that act anyhow.

Organisations where I have been referred to, collects my CV and immediately send you an employee data form and the job description almost immediately.

When those are sent u are asked to acknowledge if the job role suits u and respond before an interview happens.

Even international job recruiters have gotten to me and this same pattern follows. they have looked at your profile on LinkedIn but they still send u the job description for u to peruse. Before the interview.

All job roles are usually not the same. There could be some aspect u may not be comfortable with. An accountant in a bank may not be familiar with the operations of an upstream org. As well as a risk manager role in a bank may not suit a risk manager role in an insurance coy.

In conclusion, the guy should have used Google to do a thorough research abt the role so as not to have asked the question. But again the organization doesn't have good Hr practice. If the Hr head personnel was in the panel he/she should have apologized for not sending the job description. I doubt there was an Hr person in the panel, cos when there is a vacancy in a dept, the dept usually send the JD to Hr to search for a good fit.
