chic2pimp: I no dey take una peeps fight o. All of una be my padi for this place .
Nah I still disagree. In terms of Talent and style of play, a much better comparison in my opinion would have been KD and Giannis. AD in this instance would be like a Neymar imo. Some or should I say many might disagree but I still have KD as the Best player in the League just slightly ahead of Giannis. If you take defense into account then I have Giannis by a hair. |

joshboo: I tipped the bucks to win the series even with Kyrie and Harden fit. I kuku said it before that AD is way more talented as compared to giannis but AD hasn't shown he has the capacity to lead to team to a championship, this is with his fitness issues aside now,i don't see him as one who pushes himself to that level of wanting to become the best, he thrives more on his natural capabilities. Make I put am like this AD= Messi Giannis = Ronaldo. Both are good but one always plays and seem to want it more which is Giannis. Hopefully Lefraud retires soon or AD goes on to be the number 1option on a team again, we'll see how far he can lead a team. AD is Messi before he started taking care of his body, people tend to forget that Messi used to injury prone until he stared following a strict diet and increasing his off-season workout rather than just going to Argentina to chill. I am not saying if AD follows a diet and an offseason program designed specifically for him he will turn in iron man like lebron, but at least we will know he has done his part. |

Roland17: What huge slump are you talking about? He was in the path until he suffered recurring injuries.. He suffered an injury, how in God’s name is that is fault? Do you have the slightest idea of how vulnerable a player with his physical stats is to injuries? I get it and no longer contesting, Giannis is better at leading a lead to a chip in comparison to AD but using this your narrative is not any different from what mainstream media did after AD went down! He was not overweight, his conditioning was excellent, he tried to play with that injury but made it worse but some how, you are alluding to the same narrative that it was AD’s fault that he is injured.
When LeBum picked AD out to join the Lakers, he did not think AD was good enough? Make una stop some of these things. Belittling or devaluing a player because you want to prove the worth of yours is not being objective. What do you mean by he is easily satisfied? According to who? You? Have you watched him in the gym and practice? He was runner up in the DPOY (2019-2020) despite missing a chunk of the season. Come on na! A healthy AD would have put the Suns away in the playoffs! We saw the difference he made when he was on the court.
Small time Na una go still dey vex about mainstream media narrative about Giannis but somehow, you are using it against AD, worsestill in a situation he has 0 control over. I am not talking about AD's body of work, but I was disappointed about this last season. When a player keeps getting niggling muscle injuries it is usually a question of fitness. Harden came into this season overweight so as to force a trade and for the first time in ages he cannot stay fit. As for AD, news and rumors persist that he does not commit to an off-season fitness program like some of the other elite players do. If he now has a season where he started off flat and never ever got going because of muscular issues what logical conclusion do you expect me to draw. Same thing with Luka he comes in out of shape hoping to play himself into shape, he is just lucky that the mileage on his body is not much, even at that we can still see the injuries at one point or the other. On the flip side is a player like CP3, who has been trying different things to see what works and for the second consecutive season he has been able to finish a season without muscular issues ending it for him. Same with Jokic, committing to a off-season program and for the first time in his career he played all the games and got the MVP as just reward. In the age we are in if a player is doing his utmost best to prepare himself and prevent injuries the news will be out there, but if you don't do that and end up spending the season getting treatment for one thing or the other then IMHO I think it is a justifiable criticism of said player. PS: Embiid just had his best season in the league, and we all heard the news about him taking his diet and offseason workouts more seriously and save for his knee which already has preexisting issues he was by and large fit this year |

steady986: I can name so many people who wouldn't have won. KD wouldn't have won. Steph wouldn't have won. Harden wouldn't have won. Embiid wouldn't have won. So what exactly is your point? I disagree with KD, you put him in this Bucks side and they still probably the chip. The other guys I agree. After last season win, AD was talked about as if he would not only be the number 1 option for the Lakers but also the best player in the league, but he simply went the other route and it can be argued that this season he was not a top 10 player |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 1:06pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
steady986: Lol. Players are now being blamed for getting injured? You can if you are out of shape. AD and Harden this season for different reasons came in looking out of shape |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 2:12am On Jul 23, 2021 |
A40: You think AD comes back from that hyperextended knee and balls out like Giannis did? I think not. AD is not an Alpha dog like Giannis that is why he had this same Holiday on his team and was missing playoffs outright on a regular basis.
If he was an Alpha he would go to that Boston team and try to lead them to a chip not fly under Lenomad's wings. Till AD leads his own team to a chip heck even an NBA Finals no objective analyst will ever mention him to be better than Giannis again AD'S mentality is seriously suspect, he wins a chip after which he should have played with more freedom and less pressure, which would have resulted in him dominating the league. But what happens he has a huge slump and cannot even stay fit, he is very talented and his skillset is up there but the guy is a settler. He is easily satisfied and enjoys the comfort zone too much to be an all time great. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 10:18pm On Jul 22, 2021 |
Giannis is older than Ben Simmons by less that 2yrs. Mhenn I sorry for Sixers fans that your process, will not work. Apart from the improved ability to process the speed of the game and improved defensive awareness which are both natural progressions from playing multiple years in the league the boy no gree improves at all. He is exactly the same player he was in his rookie season apart from experience |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 3:17pm On Jul 22, 2021 |
Just have a question if you replace Trae young with Kyrie, will the Hawks have still made the conference finals? IMHO Kyrie is just flashy, he has not achieved anything as the primary creator in an offense and I still just don't get the hype. |

A40: Very funny argument but thank God time has opened everyone's eyes. That extra intangible that separates the greats from the all time greats Giannis has and AD has not shown us he has yet.
Nobody can sit here and objectively argue that AD could have led this Bucks team to a title
When it comes to their individual achievements Giannis has more hardware. He now has a ring so there is no coherent argument to suggest AD is better If you switch Giannis for AD they get bounced in the 2nd round by the nets. |

joshboo: Omo can't wait for next season sha, God willing all the big boys come back healthy let's enjoy the game of hoops again. Make Dame go team up with Embiid, that should be a perfect fit, but na coach go kill that Philly team again though.
Lets see who the mavericks would recruit to pair Luka since kristap wan commot, let's also see of zion can start living up to this tag as the next big thing since LBJ. KP might not leave, because if you read what he said about the Clippers series recently it seems him just sitting around the 3pt line and not receiving any low post touches was actually the game plan. If Jkidd can get both Luka and KP into their bubble symmetry with the caveat that KP stays healthy, then with the right 6th man the Mavs can make some noise next season |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 3:29am On Jul 22, 2021 |
A40: For me it's his free throws before any other thing because as we saw last night the man can't be stopped from getting to the basket. We saw in the all star game where he went 16/16 as well. If he takes it to the basket good things will happen.
The hook shot will also be a good addition to his skillset but I believe provided he keeps going hard in the paint he will keep getting fouled and that will make it even more critical that he becomes more proficient at the line.
What stood out to me is that he only took 2 3pt attempts and I hope that's how he continues moving forward. Infact he should be fined each time he takes more than 3 pointers in a game. Each time he takes them he's balling the defense out Totally agree with that fine concept. Maybe a bet with his coach or brother |

steady986: Guy calm down na. Don't let one season of mediocrity make you belittle AD. In prime form AD was better than Giannis. He was as good a rebounder. As good a defender. A better rim protector. A more dynamic scorer. Giannis is s better passer, he's more aggressive and quicker. Recency bias is a thing man But the real difference is Giannis is way way tougher mentally |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 10:08pm On Jul 21, 2021 |
A40: Lmaoooo Giannis is probably going to make over $400m living in small town Milwaukee. That money will get him very far. He's not American plus he's going to get plenty endorsements moving forward. Humble, drama free. Hell his jerseys are already at #5. You think the sales won't go up moving forward, you think his shoes won't sell more?
I promise you he doesn't need anybody. Besides him no send them and them no send am. This is someone that has talked about going back to Greece to play when his career winds down. Outside NBA there's nothing he shares with the American lifestyle and culture. I will be shocked if he remains there His ties with Greece strong no be small. I can definitely see him moving there after his career. The only thing that can hinder that IMO is his partner who will add another dimension. |

A40: Lool A40 has been vindicated yet again. Giannis 'No bag' Antetkounmpo dropped 50
AD is the more naturally gifted player but he's not a #1 guy like Giannis. Talent don't make you a #1. Your leadership and consistency is what makes you a #1. Throughout this playoffs only 3 games did Giannis not score at least 20 points. One of those games he was injured midway. His floor is 20-10-3. On a bad night you're sure of 20 and 10 from Giannis. This is why I rated him higher than AD
Just look at last night's game. Almost any other player we would have been talking about a Game 7. But Giannis carried the team on his back scoring 50 of their 105 points. We also saw a glimpse of what he can be if he becomes great at free throws.
I don't even think he needs a J. All he needs is to be a competent free throw shooter and I am sure it becomes a matter of how many points he wants to score any given night Absolutely agree with you, IMHO all I think he needs to improve is 1. Get his FT% to at least 75%. 2. If he can consistently make shots from 12ft in, either hook shot, or the fade away he has been using sometimes, if he can hit those 50-60% of the time, then it is over for the rest of the league. PS: if I am to pick just one, then the FTs at 75% should be his first target. |

joshboo: Them be wan push big men into oblivion before, but trust me the era of the big men is back. Omo AYTON go dey see giannis for him dreams for the next 3 years . Giannis molested and violated that guy, make the guy no go dey get ptsd any time him hear that name. Giannis Giannis had owned Ayton through the first 5 games, but yesterday's own was way too much. It got to a point I was thinking the violation going on should be grounds for Ayton throwing a punch or at least telling his coach to give him help. Dude was just so helpless on some of those plays that it reminded me of those times as a little kid, due to uneven numbers you were allowed to play football with the bros them and uncles and they will just be bullying you across the field |

This year's finals just reiterates Olajuwon quote, a good big guy will always be better than a good small guy. If we match the starting 5s of both teams by postion, all of the Bucks players except for one had the height advantage. Lopez>Ayton Giannis>Crowder Middleton>Booker Jrue > CP3 The only match up where the Suns had the height advantage was Bridges vs Tucker, but even in that instance the Bucks player was the natural better rebounder. The height differential can be see in the rebounding number and points scored in the paint. Sometimes old fashion, bigger is just better is just true. |
