I'll still reiterate without Kyrie this nets team ain't going nowhere If the Nets can't do anything without Kyrie. Then IMHO that is more of an indictment of KD. Roland17: Patty is playing out of his mind right now. I don’t think anyone would be surprised considering what he did during the Olympics. Most of the guys that performed in the Olympics have carried on from where they stopped.. The Nets are going to need him in the post season when they need scoring, he just needs to stay healthy. When I was talking up his pickup, some people here were acting as if what he did in the Olympics was a one off. You give Mills open looks like and he will burn you. Unlike Harris, Mills has ice in his veins |

A40: These Hornets look a solid unit with Lamelo running the show and Miles Bridges looking like he's ready to take the next step. More importantly no Rozier to shoot them out of games today with his wack shot selection. Old Charlotte would have been blown out from that second quarter onwards but this is the 3rd straight time I have seen them bounce back. Has the GOAT finally struck gold? Stay tuned If Bridges can establish himself as a 25ppg scorer then IMHO the Hornets will make the playoffs baring injuries. They are really fun to watch |

Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 7:50pm On Oct 24, 2021 |
steady986: Rim protection is not really a skill, it's more of effort than anything. And these guys you mentioned are/were able to do it because of their height. Ball handling? Come on. Half the league can handle the ball magnificently. Some just don't choose to be flashy with it or don't need to.
So by this analogy you're suggesting there's an argument that Steph is not the greatest shooter of all time? Because he too has benefitted from volume shooting. The argument is based on generational talent not great shooting. You said that because Klay is second best shooter of all time, that equates to him being a generational talent. Steph is a generational talent not because he can just shoot but became is a bona-fide top tier number 1 option. You are the first person I have ever heard who equates a generational talent as one who is exceptional at just one skill. Klay is a great shooter, but calling him a generational talent is watering down the term. Is Rodman a generational talent because he is the greatest rebounder of all time? |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 5:25pm On Oct 24, 2021 |
steady986: We've seen Klay get compared to Steph a lot of times in terms of getting hot from beyond the arc. Klay has records that even Steph doesn't have. When Klay made 14 3s in a game, it was Steph's record he broke. And he did it in 27 mins. It's Klay who scored 37 points in a quarter of basketball. I don't see Ray Allen or Reggie Miller in any of these conversations. They could shoot quite alright, but their records are longevity records. Klay has had a carrier high of 60 since 2016, Steph reached that mark for the first time this year. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise; Klay is a generational talent and his talent is shooting. He might not be a franchise player like Steph and these other superstars, but his talent for shooting is unmatched. Let me get you, Klay is a generational talent because of just his shooting. If that is what you mean then are Gorbert, Ben Wallace, mutombo, all generational talent because of their incredible rim protection. Are J Crawford, j Williams, shamgod, all generational talent because of their handles. Also how can one be a generational talent if they cannot be the number 1 option? PS: For all the records Steph and Klay have, they only got there because of the volume of 3s their era allows them to take. I remember listening to an interview with Ray Allen and he said. If he shot as often as even average shooters do now when he got to the league, he would have got sent to the bench. |

etidy: Abegi, if he truly wants to win, he would have asked for cj to be traded. You think LeBron, MJ, KD, Harden, Kobe or Kawhi would have been okay just stat padding away in mediocrity? You either push for the change you want or change teams. Giannis was taking Bledsoe to ECF, rookie tatum did that with a weak team, Dwight took a nobody orlando team to the nba finals beating a 60 win LeBron team along the way. Abegi Lillard has been getting an easy pass for too long. No MVP, no scoring title, no all defense I agree with your take. For me players like Dame, Harden and Nash are examples of why I truly believe that the best way to build a championship team is when your number 1 option is a 2-way player. Getting a team together, like the KD-less warriors which allows for a deficient defender like Steph as the number 1 option is a very difficult proposition. I cannot for the life of me remember a team that has won the championship were their number 1 option was not a 2-way player. |

Android17: I saw one of your posts where you said some people use boxscores to analyze games without watching them. I am sorry to say but that is the best way to describe you in this discussion. You say a lot of things that show you clearly did not watch any of the games. For e.g Do you know Iggy got hurt in that series against the Blazers? Do you know prior to his injury which ruled him out of game 4 he scored 4, 4 and 2 points? Do you know CJ was better than Dame in that series as well as the Pelicans series you tried to put a spin to? Do you know that if Dame had matched CJ's output they would have beat the Pels and at least extended the GSW series to at least 6? Do you know that the blazers were the 3rd seed in that series against the Pels (6th seed) and nobody gave the Pels a chance because Demarcus Cousins got hurt and their form tanked? That Jrue Holiday played out of his skin for the Pels to eke out narrow wins because your Dame was playing absolute garbage like we have been telling you? I remember the series and Dame stunk throughout. His best output was probably 19pts or so in game 4 I think. That being said if you pick a likely winner based on narratives then that is on you. I pick my own based on actually watching the players and matchups like I said. Nobody who understands fundamentals of basketball would have picked the Blazers to win that series unless they just wanted to push hot takes. First the Pelicans had 4 out of the 6 best players in the series in AD, Jrue, Rondo and Mirotic. They also had the best 2 defenders in AD and Jrue. Their best player AD was a nightmare match-up for the Blazers. So I reiterate my stance, Dame and the Blazers did not lose a series in which they were the better team, yes his play throughout was awful but his team was still the lesser team. If you can give me a breakdown of how that Blazers team was somehow better than the Pelicans, GSW and the Grizzlies teams they lost to I am open to listen |

I don't know what the suns offered him, but if it was close to an average of 28m per year, he should have taken it. He is center who cannot shoot the 3 and has little or no low post game. Roland17: How about Bernard King's exclusion? Baba, I don't think anyone (maybe I should speak for myself) thinks it's easy. But if Reggie Miller who held different NBA scoring records felt uneasy until he found his name, why should a Dame with only a conference final appearance be on that list? People are going to be left out and that is normal, it's our own work to debate the left outs.
Dwight's exclusion is unacceptable and egregious to be honest! Someone mentioned Tony Parker and I absolutely agree with that argument but again, it takes me back to Dame.. How does Parker miss out but Dame gets in? Dame could have gotten in during the 100th anniversary..Some players that did not make the list during the 50th made the list in the 75th. They are other guys on the list I have issues with too. With due respect if there was a draft and with what we know now no one is picking Rodman ahead of Howard. |

Take CJ out of that Portland team and replace with Middleton or Jrue or Brown... You see any improvements? Giannis/CJ/Jrue... Same result No underrate the man abeg CJ is better than two out of Middleton, Jrue holiday and Jaylen Brown? No GM will pick CJ ahead of any of these players. He is a negative on defense an inconsistent scorer and an average playmaker. Yes he can go off in some games, that's about much all he is |

KNIGHTBlaed: The disrespect on CJ mehn. Dame got injured at some point last season and CJ carried that team until his return. Baba, lets rum a little experiment with two teams of different competive spectrums. The Bucks and Celtics. Out of Middleton, Jrue, J Brown, and CJ what rank will you give CJ. For me he is last, which means if he were in any of their teams, he will be the 4th best player on the Bucks (and 5th most important), the 3rd best player on the Celtics. The dude is highly inconsistent offensively and offers next to nothing defensively so that are we talking about |

Roland17: All these amala turning will not save you. You said outside of Melo and I told you Aldridge but somehow you want to shove that to the side like it doesn't matter. We have also gone from what happened to the Celtics and I reminded you he was having an MVP caliber season before going down despite losing Hayward to the freak injury, now it's the 2nd season. You are clutching on straws at this point. What did Kyrie achieve with the Celtics? It's a simple question baba. You keep repeating the drivel of him playing at an MVP level for half a season. Joe Johnson, once played half a season at an MVP level nobody is considering him for a place in the top 75. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 2:13am On Oct 23, 2021 |
afrodoc2: What I am seeing is that you are the one disrespecting Dame. You gloss over his achievements. Imagine saying “ Apart from the Western Conference finals”.
But then you focus on his mistakes while glossing over Kyrie’s. Kyrie has not had any winning without Lebron in this league despite playing in the weaker conference all his life.
Weak teams line the Raptors, 76ers, dysfunctional Pistons, and unserious Nets were keeping him bottom of the conference pre-Lebron.
Dame has a higher scoring average, higher rebounds average, higher assist average. Dame is a better leader.
Dame has gotten to a conference finals as the best player in a team. Something Kyrie can only ever dream of. I feel confident in saying probably something Kyrie would never do.
You can make an argument for Kyrie (which I will disagree with) but not this outrage you are trying to propagate. This is not Dominique not making the Top 50 list. Abi ohh, You forget the Hornets, even the Bucks made the playoffs during that time with a bunch of know names. Someone is now talking about Dame losing to the grit n grind Grizzlies like it was an unforgivable thing. That Grizzlies team was very good and exceptional difficult to play against. This is one of the reasons I dislike discussions with people who only go online and look at stats and never watch games or who just started watching basketball and look at history true numbers. |

How did you go from list one other All Star apart from Melo to this?
Kyrie had a loaded team in the Celtics they say! Oh yea.. You mean after Hayward had the freak injury? We got to the conference finals without Kyrie but do you realize we would have gotten to the finals if Kyrie was not injured? Do you care to remind us he was having an MVP caliber season before he went down injured? I bleed Green and like many other Celtics we knew we were a Kyrie away from a finals appearance. Maybe that is why many Celtic fans are upset with Kyrie. You were the only talking about naming players Dame has played with in their primes. Also what happened to the Celtics the 2nd season where they were all fit save for Gordon? |

Are we going to pretend CJ Mc Collum is not a star in this league? Are we going to debate he is not a 1/2 punch? Or is it because he doesn't have an All Star appearance?
Should I list the depth of his roster since he got in the league? I mean players who were in their prime in their respective positions!
Now, PLEASE SHOW ME THE STARS THAT KYRIE PLAYED WITH FROM 2011-2014.

afrodoc2: I don’t hate Kyrie. I am just addressing the false outrage that you are trying to push that him missing out on this Top 75 is one big deal.
I can see how you are focusing on Dame’s shortcomings. Can you tell me what Kyrie did in any team that didn’t have Lebron? And this was in an Eastern conference that everyone acknowledged was weaker than the West at that time.
There is no hate from side. Maybe you are mixing me up with others. And if you can show where I called him a scrub I will forward you Beyoncé’s sexy tape.
He is a very good player in a league full of very good players, both now and historically. Not making the Top 75 list does not make him a scrub. But forming Jihad over it is an overreaction.
Dame has led a franchise to some success in this league. Every time Kyrie was the leader he gave us a bottle job.
Dame lost in the playoffs to the Warriors THREE times and the Spurs once. He beat the Spurs and the Clippers. The Pelican defeat is indeed a black mark against him but we need to analyse the Eastern conference teams that kept Kyrie in the lottery also.
There should be no outrage that Kyrie didn’t make this list. It is a subjective list and he is not definitively better than others that made it.
It is so hard to be sure of your position on this list that when Reggie Miller made the list he was very shocked. A. AminuPF J. NurkicC D. LillardPG C. McCollumSG E. TurnerG BENCH Z. CollinsPF E.
