My dear no reason am o... Applications from London office has been terribly slow, infact currently timeline from Nairobi has been faster. Some people are still waiting for PPR from London after 8months meanwhile they applied when processing time was 8weeks..

Congratulations to you guys. This timeline dịkwa very mind-blowing. This is how fast IRCC should be in application processing. But unfortunately they only reserve such speed to applications made in certain countries. Well, I guess our poor institutional verification systems in Nigeria contribute too to the delay.

So here is the full gist as promised.

Spouse left for Canada April 2021 for a 2 years PG Diploma.
Weighed my options during that period and figured that visit was quite faster than SOWP so went for visit.
1st Visit visa application was submitted June 6, 2021. Then the long wait started. Explored the Travel Authorisation to expedite the processing but they didn’t see my reason as good enough. Then they new portal thing came up for those that applied before sept 7th. So I applied for the 2nd visit visa using the new portal in October,2021. Refusal for the 2nd application came in November,2021 with 2 reasons… travel history and insufficient funds. At that time, I was already processing a student visa to UK as naija don tire me. So I just focused on the Uk application.

Resumed studies in Uk in January 2022 and applied for gcms notes. Gcms notes came in April only for me to find out that the insufficient fund was because the officer could not access the mybank statement portal. I was like they could have asked me to present another statement na…

So in June 2022, I had already gathered documents and was weighing options again. At that time, visit visa processing from Uk was 8 days while work permit was 10 weeks. So I opted for visit visa. And the wait began… processing time started increasing till it got to around 145 days… after the 145 days I started sending webforms and email but to no avail. I started giving up and was already working on getting a skilled work visa in uk and settle here. Then spouse said we should try the SOWP. I was very reluctant. Started the application since 29th October but didn’t submit till 9th of December.

Submitted 9th December
Biometrics updated 10th December
PPR and BVL 15th December
Submitted passport 16th December
Passport returned to VFS 20th December
Passport delivered 21st December


It can only be God. Don't lose hope!

I have contacted the MP incharge of my constituency because I was told I can't reach out to any outside where I reside.
My question is really centered on their influence or impact on the application. What exactly is their duty aside checking the status of the application? On a low key are they checking and also fasttracking?

Please does anyone know the impact of MP on SOWP application?

Because the processing time for our application was 13weeks and we are going to 8 months nothing has been updated, not even upfront medicals so we contacted MP 2months back and was told only criminality passed. She advised we contact them again after 2months if nothing by then.

I can understand how frustrating it's that processing time has elapsed for your application and you are yet to receive any updates on your application. You ought to have received decision on your application by now considering that the UK has a low processing time of 12 wks.

I can see you have made efforts to contact IRCC. If you currently reside in Canada, you may want to call the IRCC helpline to speak to an agent. While it's difficult to get them to answer the phone, I just did a research online, and stumbled on this trick (see attached photos). I guess the 8am in the attached files is in ET (Ontario time zone)

Regarding if you should withdraw the application and apply through Nairobi, that would involve your husband relocating to Nigeria from the UK.

Although you have exercised a lot of patience already, I would urge you to hold on for a little while. While you wait, keep praying!

My people please you guys should help me out ooo... I'm tired of this wait. Is it advisable for us to withdraw our application and apply through Nairobi because I can see responses are coming within 3months from Nairobi.
I don't even know how this is possible because he's based in UK so automatically the application is processed from there. I heard applications since December has not even been updated to medical passed... Mine for over 3months is still same way since the first day we submitted. I fear this might linger for months without response. I have contacted MP, no response, I have sent emails to London, no response... I need advice abeg.

Hello house, please rejoice with me as my wife's PPR just dropped. We applied on June 16 2022, review started first week in August and medical was updated to pass on August 8 (did upfront medical). Bvl letter sent on August 17th, and ever since then, no update!

Although we were worried why BVL was sent without PPR, we were calm as the application has been processed faster than we expected (65 wks processing time as at the time we submitted in June)

But on seeing the message that @Kam3 posted this morning that her/his PPR already dropped, I was motivated to contact IRCC since Kam3 submitted his/her application in July while we submitted June.

I immediately wrote an email to IRCC, explaining that we were yet to hear back from them since BVL was sent. I immediately received a confirmation email that I will be responded to in 5 working days. Since it's late here Canada, I was just about going to bed when my wife called that I should check her gmail for an email from IRCC.

Lo and behold, PPR message has dropped! That was just like 28 mins after I sent the email to IRCC.

I am happy to provide details of necessary docs that were submitted if anyone is interested in that. I am also happy to provide guidance for any future SOWP applicants. Meanwhile, my wife and I got married in December 2021, and I returned to Canada in January 2022. She just finished her undergraduate studies last month, so this good news is coming at the right time!

I want to use this medium to return all thanks and praises to Almighty God who facilitated my wife's SOWP.

I also want to thank everyone on this platform who has been so helpful in responding to messages, and providing necessary guidance on the SOWP application. Without your help and testimonies here, we wouldn't have been able to put forward a very strong application.

And for those of us still waiting for a decision, yours is next! Regularly pray about your application and don't lose hope.

And just an advice, when sending message to IRCC, be humble, praise them first, acknowledge that you understand they are dealing with lots of applications before making your request.

Similar situation with me. No update from London processing office, not even medicals has been updated since months now. We are passed the UK processing time, right now we are hoping for the best. It's well

Two ghost update so far, last upper week and last week....this alone can give someone bp, medical isn't updated since April that I applied, just showing"we are reviewing your medical result" application review started 02 august, even the visit visa I applied with my kids may, only the kids medicals were updated July and that was it...my medical was also stating same thing in the visit visa, if not that I feel very healthy and I have done personal check ups, this people would have killed me with thinking. I have sent webform enquiring, pleading and requesting....but from today henceforth am done, when they are ready they would reach out.......if no be Nigeria wey dey fall person hand sef....the rest is with God sha, wishing everyone waiting all the best.

Yes my application is in London because my husband lives in UK. We have sent them just one email last week because I have read about some people kicking against sending too many emails. Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it. Do you mean we should send Nairobi a mail also? We will keep sending emails and I will contact my MP. Thank you

Is your file in London? Also if you have other email addresses send to them too. Send to them individually do not copy other addresses in one email.

Don't even bother about the no update, I think sometimes they just get an application and update everything at once. Using our application as a case study: they just updated my kids medical and send their PPR on the same day, then updated my husband's medical and sent BVL the next day. So they may be working on your application without updating it. Again if your application has passed the processing time, you should keep sending mails to them, you can also do MP inquiry.

I'm not sure London is responding to emails.. We are passed the processing time and nothing has been done, no medical passed and no eligibility review has started.

From the mp inquiry I did, which came in after my husband's ppr was released. His visa was approved since 27th of July with my kids visa. The VO just wickedly refused to send the PPR. But it's all good though. I have been doing video calls with them but it just cannot be the same as physically being together.

My spouse is in UK and we applied for him to come join me. Upon application submission, processing time from uk was 10weeks, now its 12weeks. This is our 10th week and nothing has started on our application. No upfront medicals passed, no eligibility review, nothing.

Yes it is, although I didn't book them because of cost. So if you can afford them, they are good.

According to IRCC quarantine guidelines:

A suitable place of quarantine is one where you:

› Have access to the necessities of life without leaving your place of quarantine

› Have a separate bedroom if the space is shared with family/friends who didn’t travel with you

› Can limit interactions with others in the household. If spaces, such as a kitchen, are shared:

› Wear a mask if a 2m distance cannot be maintained

› Thoroughly and regularly clean common areas after use

› Are not living with those at risk of more severe disease

› Are not in close contact with others who did not travel with you.

For example, do not quarantine in:

› A group or communal living setting, including camps or student dorms unless the location is pre-authorized
› A household with a large family or many people
› A shared small apartment or similar setting.

I don't have DHL contact number. When you did two way courier were you not given two tracking numbers? Track using the second tracking number given to you, on DHL website you can see expected date of delivery. If you are not in Abuja allow 3 business days for delivery.

Counterfoil and LOI has dropped���

Although I'm a jjc here, I found this link after I had submitted my application. Below is my timeline

- Applied December 28th
- NSE request January 4th. I got a request to submit only ielts because I submitted my bank statement while applying.
- NSE request submitted February 1st
- Medical Request February 25th
- Medical Passed March 2nd
- PPR Request March 5th. Submitted same day to DHL because I live in Abuja.
- Counterfoil and LOI dropped March 12th.
- I'm yet to get my passport back

So Landing in Ontario means you need to do your hotel quarantine in Ontario and if you like, the remaining 11 days quarantine in Ontario, so the main question should be , does your friends place meet the minimum standard to quarantine, would you have a room to your self in order to avoid contact for the remaining days of quarantine, if yes then u can stay in your friends place within that period and more if you wish but if no you have to book and Airbnb in order to complete your quarantine then go later and visit your friend before you proceed back to school.
