But Hope must RESCUE Orlu zone from what our neighbors call curse of underdevelopment in Orlu zone. Foundation is provide portable water and full govt University in Orlu zone. Non negotiable. The three universities and two polys in Owerri zone fetch close to N3 billion monthly to development of Owerri zone. |
The cause of Okorocha's battle with Ihedioha may not be easily seen by casual onlookers. It's a battle to save Imo state. Okorocha govt built this Eastern Palm university in Ideato south local govt area in Orlu senatorial zone, another campus in Okigwe senatorial zone; and another campus in Mbaise, Owerri senatorial zone, for Imo state university to have a serene environment for university education. IMSU was temporarily located in shanty houses in Owerri by former governor Evan Enwerem from Owerri, in the same Owerri which hosts all three govt universities and polytechnic in Imo state. But Ihedioha watched these university facilities and other projects of Okorocha to rot away. Perhaps, Ihedioha sees it as birthright of his Owerri zone to host all universities in Imo state

MURIC? Not surprised. Not long ago, a prominent Yoruba Moslem suggested that the Sultan of Sokoto be renamed Sultan of Nigeria. In other words, Nigeria becoming an Islamic Sultanate. Only consolation for non Moslem Nigerians: no country in the world was created to remain indivisible forever.
|
BiafraforTrump:Wow. Imo needs what you suggested in bolded above. But don't let Owerri people hear you suggest that Imo state govt build devt infrastructures in Orlu or Okigwe zone which they proudly call villages and compare Okigwe and Orlu now with Ahiazu or Nwaorieubi. Owerri cornered all govt institutions, including 5 universities and polytechnics in Imo state to Owerri, no consideration for Orlu and Okigwe zones. The institutions make Owerri zone develop rapidly. Under six months of Ihedioha government, Owerri has cornered a N60 billion BankExim headquarters of SE/SS, cornered a Federal Fire fighting training School for the old southeast region. Owerri people don't see Okigwe and Orlu zones as part of Imo state. |
CSTR2:They may even elect Tinubu or Fashola to compensate Yoruba for supporting Fulani in 2019 and 2015. After four years, they continue to gnash their teeth. Fashola has been in charge of Power, Housing and Works since 2015 till a few days ago. |
Unquenchable primitive greed? Within the last six months, Owerri cornered the federal Fire fighting training School of Southeast and Southsouth to Owerri. Owerri has just cornered a N60 billion headquarters of BankExim of southeast/Southsouth for Owerri. All these in addition to all six tertiary education institutions in Imo state hosted by Owerri. Empty lands perhaps, more than in Owerri, exist in Orlu and Okigwe zones. Define extreme clannish people. |
B2mario:Photoshopped Orlu. Only fools are deceived by online warriors of Rochas Okorocha with this photo. Okorocha dualized this road and three others channeling to the road to his Ideato home, put street lights on them, but scrapped more than 18 km of urban roads in Orlu, abandoned them. |
Biafrarep:Biafrarep Is Imo state how Biafra is going to be? With people in capital area cornering and covet all the factors that induce development in a State, then insult people from other parts of the state? In Imo state, during the military govts, Owerri cornered all the 6 tertiary education institutions in Imo state for Owerri, no consideration for Orlu area. Anywhere in the world, just one university in a place is enough to facilitate rapid development of the place. Owerri cornered and covet all the three govt universities in Imo state for Owerri, the universities and polytechnics in Owerri have up to 200,000 staff and students, all yielding more than N2,billion per month to urban expansion and modernization of Owerri area. Owerri tells others to build their own towns with their own contributions. The most foolish aspect of foolishness is the inability of most Owerri folks to understand that State capital is mere seat of govt, not a place to be more developed by govs ahead of rest of the state. The inability of most Owerri folks to see that no place in the constitution of Nigeria was it stipulated that a state capital must be developed first by governors before rest of the state. You folks from Owerri shall be grateful to a governor like Rochas Okorocha who thought he would be recognized as good presidential material through his development of Owerri. |
NwaAmaikpe:Like most people ftom Owerri, NORSK who posted and replied will never agree that Rochas Okorocha transformed Owerri to a big city. Okorocha wanted to use his transformation of Owerri to be seen as good presidential material. |
NORSYK:Clap for yourself. You cleverly omitted the multi billion Naira Eastern Palm university built by Okorocha govt in his Ogboko community. Why, because a govt committee had since advised gov Ihedioha to use Eastern Palm university to extend Imo state university outside Owerri. Eastern Palm university since then remained the blind spot of Owerri, as you believe the advantages of closeness to multi faculty govt university facility must be restricted to natives of Owerri zone only. |
NORSYK:You built universities but never converted them early enough to govt universities. Now enter the governor from Owerri. Owerri people believe that it's their entitlement to profit from closeness to govt universities. The new governor has either closed the universities you built outside his Owerri zone, or watching them decay. The new governor must believe that others are fools. |
Ndibunna:Dash you Orlu? For what? Orlu shall forever remain Orlu. There is abundant land in Orlu that if IMSG provides Orlu with essential social amenities, the town shall quickly develop, even pass Owerri. After Okorocha driven by his intention to build all in Owerri to be seen as a good presidential material to succeed president Buhari, Ihedioha came and pinned himself on development of Owerri. Ihedioha knows that without providing durable public water supply system in Orlu zone, no investors can put a kobo into building new housing estate in Orlu or Okigwe zone. He knows that the govt housing estate built in Orlu zone are not gainfully occupied due to lack of public water supply system. Yet Ihedioha now quickly started to build 1000 housing units in his Owerri zone, after he gave out contract to reactivate Owerri zonal water supply system, and tells people that the 1000 new housing he is building in Owerri are a public/private enterprise; and that more 4000 housing units are coming. He must have believed he was talking to fools after Okorocha hid under private/public name to use govt money in building private businesses, including a university, in Imo state. Does Ihedioha not think that people are fools in Imo state? |
ngoxievergreen:Imo with only Owerri area to show off with a century of modernity ahead of rest of Imo state, is worse than Abia State. |
VAQAXY:Spewing nonsense? Owerri depends on useless governors who foolishly believe that state was created to develop only the state capital, hence they allow all factors that induce development in an area to be only in Owerri for their selfish benefit to their families. Industries that employ labour and attract population and modern development to a place lead largely to development of a town, how many industries have persons from Owerri zone built in Owerri to enhance the urban expansion of Owerri? About nil. Owerri depends for urban expansion of Owerri solely on useless governors who don't understand that State was created for development of the entire state. For example, is there any other state in Nigeria where all six tertiary education institutions, including Imopoly closest to Owerri, in the state are located in one zone, except Imo, where all six of these tertiary education institutions are located in Owerri zone? All over the world, just one public university located in a town can make the town prosper. But Owerri people covet all the three govt universities in Imo state, and call anybody stupid for asking for a tertiary education institution in the other two zones in Imo state. |
Ndibunna:Despite that for 42 years, successive governors of Imo state built nearly nothing except Owerri where the political class from Okigwe and Orlu zones migrate with their families to settle. |
eduj:A heartening post. Kudos. I still don't understand why Abia State govt can't devote two years concentration of resources to rebuild Aba roads and drainage systems. |
HeWrites:Let's hope Fulani doesn't sabotage this noble idea. |
Stop your romance with coerced Islamic expansionism. It can land you in jail at The Hague. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Again, stop your economic war against the Igbo, you are destroying Nigeria through the war against the Igbo. |
BeachLife:First, there are no ethnicities in Igbo ethnic group. Igbo is Igbo anywhere, what we have is Igbo dialects differently. We are talking about state creations in the southeast still under Nigeria. It's not about division of Igbos. You may need to understand that the fewer the number of states in the southeast, the more people of the southeast are under-represented in National Assembly, and at the Federal Executive Council where decisions are usually made about location of development projects.. Worse, the smaller the number of states in the southeast, the more monthly federal allocations are denied the southeast... Separate Biafra secession issue from state creation, they are not related. |
eduj:Another sad story about Aba. Aba was the city of all Igbos right from origin, until it was desecrated by bad governors beginning 1999. Then, any Igbo man who landed Aba never went home empty handed. If the tempo of Aba's rise during the 1980s was sustained, we would not have been moving to Lagos today. |
Ndibunna:Has Adada any boundary with Anambra state? What criterion would make anyone go to divide Enugu area for the third time for Adada State, when Njaba area never divided even for once is asking for a State? |
MyopicMods:The land mass of Imo West Senatorial zone for proposed Njaba State alone is larger than the land mass of your proposed Adada. There are 12 huge local govt areas in Imo West senatorial zone. There are about 7 local govt areas in Adada. Imo West is an oil and gas producing area for a viable Njaba (or Anim) State. Adada is not. So why will anyone go for Adada from the same Enugu area which has been divided three times in the past? |
adamooye:North and Southwest regions use oil revenues from the east to build standard gauge rail lines in their regions, exclude the east. They beat their chests that they have a functional country; a country of justice. Tufiakwa. They are building death of one Nigeria. |
MelesZenawi:Did they tell you that land mass is what is considered before creating a state in an area? If land mass is considered, present Imo State with capital at Owerri would never have been created. Because land mass of some northern states is more than land mass of the whole 5 southeast states put together. History is considered for state creation. Njaba State was about to be created in 2007. But senator Arthur Nzeribe from Oguta local govt area who was on political rift against then gov Udenwa from Orlu started a problem. Nzeribe requested that Orashi be called the 6th state in the SE, with capital in Oguta, but excluded Orlu. But before then, Nzeribe had been pushing for Njaba state with capital at Orlu right from the 1970s. The long rift then made Nsukka people heighten their demand for Adada state. But who can divide Enugu area for the third time to get Adada as sixth state in the SE, whereas Njaba area remains untouched for the first time? As you talk blind like you are from Imo East (Owerri) senatorial zone, be informed that people of old Anambra State knew that carving out oil- bearing Imo State from the old East Central State means leaving Ndi Anamba with Anambra State without oil producing status, yet Ndi Anambra did not object to carving Imo state with Owerri as capital out from the old East Central State. |
Imo state needs a new federal university or expansion of FUTO to Imo West Senatorial zone of 12 local govt areas without any federal or state tertiary education institution. Please |
sanctity454:Far back 2016, I told Abagworo the PR of Rochas Okorocha on this thread that his reign on this thread would end in 2019 when Imo state would have removed Okorocha crowd from power, without Okorocha anointing a successor. As Okorocha made Owerri and his village Ogboko to look like only places in Imo state, Abagworo hardly knew that Owerri is not the only place in Imo state, as he kept on and on posting those now abandoned edifices of Okorocha in Owerri, and was telling us 'Imo state is developing.' |
hammerU:Perhaps Adada as seventh state, not sixth state in the southeast, because fifth state in the southeast, Ebonyi, was carved from mainly Enugu state which contributed Abakaliki as capital of Ebonyi state. |
hammerU:A state between Anambra and Imo states must be created first, before any body can create a new state from Enugu state. Because Enugu gave out the greatest portion to form Ebonyi state as the fifth state in the Southeast. Therefore, any sixth state in the southeast must come between Imo and Anambra states. It's proposed as Anim or Njaba state to be formed by the 12 local govt areas of Orlu senatorial zone with some local govt areas in Anambra south senatorial zone. |
