Politics › Re: The Victor Banjo Story by Kilode1: 6:26pm On Mar 30, 2011
banku:
These stories passed on from one generation to the next would always have a K leg, of course.

That Federal troops did not show up until Banjo withdrew. What a bunch of crap. That way you feel that Biafra Army was not fought to a standstill at Ore. You need to ask those who were there. It was a suicide mission once they got to Ore. Without western support, Biafrans could have been waisted much more than was done to them at Ore.

Element of surprise my foot. I guess they were fighting boys scout. You guys need to go and find out why the older one still say:

Ija Ore le!

Ondo Boys High School and the hospital nearby were the refreshing centers. Students watched and saw the ugly side of Ore battle. Some of you do not understand Yoruba history even when you are told over and over again for fear that you may learn the truth.

After Ilorin, Ore will never be Ilorin in Nigeria again. Mark my words. Yoruba na coward ceased after Ore, go ask your Biafran fighters call soldiers. Element of surprise could not overcome - Never Again.

I feel sorry for Igbo youths because Awo, Zik and Banjo warned Ojukwu. He never listened. But Igbo do not have to be ashamed or rationalize the battle at Ore like the naive guy that said Federal troops came after Banjo withdrew.

Yoruba troops drove them out and if they did not retreat, more of them could have died needlessly. Ask yourself why they did not withdraw from Mid-West and use it to negotiate as Banjo advised?

Ojukwu miscalculated thinking Lagos would be a better price to negotiate with - and winners take all. He was already thinking about Igbo head for Lagos too.

Don't push Yoruba to the wall, you may find yourself to blame. Nobody dared touch Fulani until Yoruba did. They asked for it. Please learn a lesson, no Yoruba soil including Lagos will ever be your price.
Quoted for emphasis.

. . .Back to 2011 election.

It is becoming clear now that PDP is trying so hard to taint and infect the opposition with their deadliest viruses; IBB/OBJ/Cabal

The pungent smell of desperation is difficult to miss. . .

PDP is a wounded lion fighting with shameless abandon. . . I hope Nigerians are not being fooled into thinking that this Toilet of a Party can clean it's own faeces.

@SEFAGO, very witty post. Depends on how you define "kept" though.
Politics › Re: Buhari - Live In Kano With Pictures! by Kilode1: 1:35am On Mar 30, 2011
PapaBrowne:
The timing is late!! These are things they should have done long before the elections. Nigeria isa large with majority of the voters having very little access to media communcation. One week is too short a time to communicate to rural voters in the south west that their candidates have changed.

Anyway, one thing I am glad for is the fact that for the first time in our democracy PDP may not have a majority in the senate/House so they would have no choice but to perform excellently. Jonathan will win the elections and I'm glad to be voting for him. But I must commend Buhari for giving the PDP a good run for the money. After this elections they will never joke with governance!!
I agree with you. Except for the "I'm voting Jonathan" part.

Hopefully those in the opposition trenches are not ignoring the importance of Assembly and local elections.
Politics › Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by Kilode1: 11:05pm On Mar 29, 2011
^^ what kind of logistics are we speaking of, Cars? Election monitoring groups? Mobile communication?

It is fine if they don't see the TV AD as a priority, anything to make sure they get their message out to people, (in the South especially) is fine by me.

PDP controls too much of the airwaves and I detest that greatly.

I'm ready to add my widows mite to the fund if you guys decide to go ahead with it. maybe not 100K like yours. but 50 people donating 36K each will get the job done. I hope they can use that Omolara song, edit it with more southern campaign pictures and a few images of kids holding the CPC flag wink

. . .and pay the artiste.

I will also visit their donation page and check out the options.

We need to get PDP out.

Edited.

I called the DSTV guys the same day you brought up the issue and I got their price. It's 75k for every 15 seconds. I'm working with a few guys back in 9ja to see how far we can go.

I do not have contact with anyone on the BB team. All I have been doing has been completely independent. I spoke with a friend last nite though who seems to know a number of the guys on the BB team. He says the most urgent need of the BB team is to raise funds to pay for the election logistics. Hence the opening of the GTBank account.
Good job, Thanks for the info.

If your guys eventually get the DSTV promo arranged and they need support, leave me a message here. I think it will be effective.

blink182:
@OP, are you from Sapele, Egbejule or whatever his name is , is not the chairman of Sapele LGA. Hon Godwin Atose is and those Itsekiri people have better dig up their relative and bury in the small island allocated to them by their ancestors.

I know Ejele(Michael Diden) has a hand in this. The last time such happened I dont know if you reside in sapele but you know the massacre that took place of the Itsekiri. Why are the itsekiri's always looking for trouble, this is a law that was put in place because of the Itsekiri, it even rubbed off on Okpe's. The Urhobo's have dealt bitterly with them in warri and they ran to sapele, the Okpe's were so stupi.d to accommodate them, now the worse is gradually beginning to happen. The Itsekiris want to claim sapele is theirs. It will only result in war.

Let me tell you poster, sapele youths do not know what nairaland is or the internet, if it should happen, I want to believe the rest is known to you.

Why cant the itsekiris just behave themselves, must they be obnoxious? I am dating an itsekiri as we speak and I fear what will happen when it comes to marriage, if crisis should erupt now, its obvious we have to call off the relationship because I will be treated as a traitor and even killed if I don't run for my life.

This is so frustrating angry angry angry

^^You are referring to the Original Oyo-Ile? right? is that not the version about Yorubas descending from Saudi Arabia? ( I still believe they are confusing Saudi with some Islam influenced region in North Africa )

If we indeed migrated from the north, that location will make sense. not sure though.

BTW, slightly off topic: Do you think we met the Nupes, Igbominas, Ilajes, Ikale (ugbo people?) in present day Yorubaland or they are just some splintered part of the Yoruba group that journeyed together from North Africa?
Politics › Re: Eku by Kilode1: 5:03pm On Mar 29, 2011
^^ scared of too many baby mamas?  cheesy

I think Bello is from the area. Maybe he picked Yoruba outside the State or lived outside for a while.

But I will not be surprised if there are native Niger State villages with ethnic Yoruba speakers. The British and The Fulani jihadists merged various ethnic communities together in that area.

Now, while Nupes(Tapas) are not Yorubas, the Language and culture share similarities and they've  intermarried for centuries. EX: Sango, The Fierce Alaafin (Oyo King) who became a God in Yoruba mythology was the son of a Nupe mother married to a Yoruba man.

Anyway, I'm not sure about Baba Bello, but it's not easy to erase language and tradition.

I read the guy once sued INEC and requested they put a registration center in his compound. Old dude is something else  grin grin  I'll find the link later.

Niger state belongs to us in Benin-Odu'a Republic. Nupes(Tapa) are our people and one day, very soon, we will have them back.

We don't just want Kwara and Kogi, We want Niger state too! cool

I can only SMH @ those haters trying to hold down our traditions because of some imported religion. Baba Bello is within his rights.

Uthman Dan Fodio can wake up and take his religion back if he does not want our Tradition to influence it.

I'm also glad Baba Bello kept the traditions alive by speaking his Yoruba language.

Sango will be proud!

a fellow named Reno Omokri informed them, after their fruitless waiting to hear from Jonathan, that he (Omokri) had recommended Mr. Daramola’s post
Mr. Omokri later asked the Finland-based students to send a message to Oronto Douglas, Jonathan’s senior special assistant on research and strategy.
Omokri works with the American political strategist, Joe Trippi. Mr. Trippi is a consultant to Mr. Jonathan’s presidential campaign.

^ I don't know if you have deep contacts in the Buhari Bakare Campaign HQ, if you do, can you ask them about finding out how much SS and DSTV wants to sell the slot for? if they can.

Then BB can go ahead to ask all these thousands of online and diaspora fans they've acquired in the last 5weeks to donate specifically into a fund to buy the airtime. The Obama campaign used that same specific campaign method successfully several times and they still do. Name some specific goal and ask for donations for that goal within a reasonable time.

Let them be as specific and targeted as possible and they might just get enough funds to pay for it within days. not everyone wants to support T-shirt, billboard or posters or even this Idea. Just give them choices.

BTW, I'm ready when the details and paypal link is ready
Politics › Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by Kilode1: 8:30pm On Mar 26, 2011
Is it impossible for this campaign to buy a 2 minute advert slot during the next few premiership games showing on Nigerian TVs or DSTV and show the campaign advert rejected by NTA?

Millions of Young Nigerians with no access to NTA or DSTV still get to follow premiership games at local viewing centers across the country, even in villages and inside markets.

Just cut it into a minute or two and pay Supersport to show it during halftime and before Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man U games on DSTV. Buhari campaign no get money ni?

I think unity can be enforced. Unity dont just happen overnight, you have to work on it, as hard as possible.
are they working hard at it, when NYSC members lack facilities, no bed, no water, funds embezzled, Cheaters encouraged?

Re-read my points, you cannot force unity that way. Ensure justice and accountability and we will get a united country. Nigeria is not a military camp. we can and will travel without NYSC. Our grandparents knew more about other people before NYSC, they traveled all over and lived everywhere trade took them

I agree more with Shekarau on education
Teacher:student ratio is just one issue.

We lack accountability, we don't penalize laxity and that is why he can't implement anything in Kano. Knowing one issue while ignoring the fundamentals is not gonna change anything.

Train teachers yes, small classes yes, When they fail to teach well what do you do? remove the laggards!! and give the job to others. they will sit up.
Politics › Re: Official Thread For What About Us? Presidential Debate by Kilode1: 8:52pm On Mar 25, 2011
If we need NYSC to unite our country then we are in a worse shape than I thought.

Unite by force? or based on enduring principles? enshrine mutual respect in our laws, justice, accountability, human rights, liberty and co.

You cannot enforce unity! a compulsory NYSC is nothing less than a forced military draft IMO.

Fix the country stop looting, make institutions work for all Nigerians and tribalism will give way to Nationalism.
@Kilode?!: Thanks for the link, that was informative. Still trying to track down the gas reserves though.

Hrm:
https://i53.tinypic.com/2qi4akp.png

Nigeria's oil reserves are 36.2 billion barrels, according to Wikipedia. Looks like the reserves in Ilaje and Ese-Odo are nearly 10% of that? And it produces 250k+ barrels of oil a day right now. ,  street value of $25 million/day.

In my opinion:
1) Oil reserves of 4 billion barrels+
2) Bitumen reserves of 42 billion+, entirely unexploited (not as profitable as oil, but still some money there)
3) Whatever gas exists, probably something enormous
4) Best port city in all of West Africa
5) Largest city in in Sub-saharan Africa
6) Diaspora with money and technical know-how
7) Lots of farmland

This sounds like all the ingredients necessary for a very strong economy. I cannot think of anything missing. Large gas reserves + excellent port => competitive advantage in manufacturing and export.

Very interesting stuff.
Yea very interesting. We need to resist any further creation of SW states though, dunno why Ekiti left that state undecided  I wish i was there to slap sense into them.

Anyway,  Odu'a stick together. There is hope for Nigeria. SW , SE , SS, NO if we can get the politics right.
