First he should look for a cheaper house, if he want to save money he should look for a house that a month salary can pay for maybe a house of 250 - 350k annually. Except if he lives on the mainland and work on the island, he should go and pack or even sell his car for now. He should run from anything that will cause too much of debit alert every month.
