Quite a pity no one here tried to help me out when I requested for one. Got the 2009 ml350. Drove it around the city for a week with no problems. Then took it on a six hour journey. At the 4th hour the ignition cut off. Everything stiffened up (lucky me I was passing a town so wasn't speeding) anyway tried starting it but it went off again. Got it to start and pulled off road and it went off. Let it be for like 20 mins. Started it and it came on. Turned off my ac. And drove down. Had to make 2 stops of 20 mins each to finish up the journey but the engine never did cut off again. Been driving it around the city here since and it hasn't happened again. Please what's the problem. Don't want it happening at the wrong time again

i had ypur kind of problem. I first noticed the issue when i travelled for the first time with the car, a 2010 mercedes c350 sport. I have a heavy foot, i travel 400km every weekend to and fro, from abuja to kaduna. Well after about 100km from abuja heading to kaduna and after multiple kickdowns to overtake other cars, i noticed a sudden hesitation when i kicked my foot down again at about 5000rpm the car jerked, i released and depressed the throttle again, same thing happened so i stopped and turned off the car for about 5mins. Started the car again and everything was ok, i continued my journey again and after 10mins the same thing happened again, i stopped for 5mins again and continued my journey, the third time the engine cut off entirely. It came back to life after about 10mins, i had to complete my journey at 60kmh. To cut the long story short, the issue was only a blocked filter at the top of the fuel pump. Ask ur mechanic to remove the filter and wash it thoroughly, it is blocked with dirt.

Nice review. Benz sweet ehn, that 200kph na just beans for the car. Mercedes m272 engines feel much faster on the road than stated on paper. I wonder maybe they're lying about the bhp .. by the way why does the rear of the 4matic look like a 2013 model??

Mine is the V6. Which is the 6 plugs. I bought mine last year October at 2.7m in kaduna state.

Get the benz. I own one and I'm very satisfied with it as it performs exceptionally well and very economical. Just get ready to change your low arms, control arms and bushings yearly. Total cost isn't more than 25k including labor.

I can't speak for all Igbo men. But, my dad LOVES Mercedes-Benz. He once owned a BMW, and a Volkswagen. After buying a Mercedes-Benz E-class W124 (the V-Boot), he said there's no way in hell he'd use another make of German machines.

I know back then, when I was much younger, if you have a Benz, you've "arrived". Especially the S-Class W140 (the Beast), the E-class (W124), and S-class W126 (Concord).

Mercedes-Benz is a very prestigious make. It's for people with TASTE! You see comparisons between Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, and Rolls Royce. I don't think I've ever seen any comparisons between BMW, or VW, or Audi, and Rolls Royce.

When you talk about class, you mention Mercedes, before Audi, or BMW. VW is child's play!

No matter how many cars you've got in your compound, if there's no Benz, you don't have any car.

Please what is the best spark plug for Mercedes benz V6 engines. I've come across so many different brands and I don't know which one to go for. There is bosch, NGK, champion and denso. Please all the experienced men in the house I need ur help. Engine is M272 2.5ltr V6. Thanks in advance.

My first preference, when it comes to a used V8 Mercedes would have been the E Class or the S Class, BUT, as you have noted here, that air suspension is the kiss of death for any vehicle that has aged more than five years since it was new, which is why my search led me to the CLK family of V8 Mercedes coupes.

The 2005 E Class W211 that your friend owns will most likely never sell at all, *since that air suspension can cost as much as $7K USD which equals about 3 million naira at today's exchange rates* just to fix the suspension, amounting to one truly ridiculous price to pay for ANY repair on ANY car. One gets the impression that all those expensive, top-of-the-line Mercedes cars built with air suspensions were never intended to last beyond say a year from the time they were new, which is about the length of time a very rich car owner would use any vehicle, before upgrading to this year's mode.

In my opinion, year 2000 was the point at which Mercedes engineers decided that there was no financial incentive to produce cars that can be bought used and discounted in price, by the poor after a few years of use by the rich. With the introduction and continued use of air and hydraulic suspensions in Mercedes cars, the message evidently being sent out, is that if customers cannot afford to buy a brand new Mercedes car, then they should not buy ANY Mercedes at all, and should settle for an old Toyota.

My target year for the Mercedes CLK remains the *2003/2004 time window during which true automotive greatness was achieved* for a fleetingly short time, never to be repeated again. *There simply is NO other Mercedes made after year 2000* which retains the simplicity of a standard shocks and springs, YET, is powered by the almighty Mercedes 5-liter V8 engine. In short there is but one undisputed freeway JagunLabi in current existence from the Mercedes factory, and that is none other than the 2004 CLK500, along with the 2008 CLK550.

He has already fixed the suspension. I don't know where you got the amount from but it didn't cost anywhere close to that. They changed the so called 'balloon' for 40k each.

I agree with you, but I also disagree with you on saying that 2003/04 was the year that automotive greatness was achieved. As a man who loves Mercedes I know what all the predecessors are capable of. Yes, at the time they were made they really stood out from everyone else, back then when the 190E series came with 230bhp was a lot, it was the most powerful saloon car as at 1990. From Jeremy Clarkson's words '2001 was the year of Horsepower crisis'. But those numbers are laughable now. I feel Mercedes keeps on achieving automotive greatness year after year. Just take a look at what they're up to for 2017 models. So I think there are absolutely so many Mercedes after year 2000.

From experience I have a friend who owns a 2005 e500 w211. Same M113 engine found in the clk500. I have to say it is a very good and reliable engine. If it is speed u are looking for, that motor does 220kmh with no sweat and room for much more. However the w211's air suspension spoiled all the fun. The car is currently up for sale and going for 1.8m incase anyone is interested.

Good question you just raised. Have you scanned the four months old Benz? Just do and let us know what came out. What happened to vboot, c,e,s class of the 2005 to 2010 even ml? You did a great research and look at this phrase, if premium is not available, use regular fuel but quickly refill to premium fuel. Mb wrote it in their manual, vw did and range rover warned of engine damage when using a lower octane rating for a long time. If they warned you and you ignored their counsel, you will soon notice two things in your Mercedes-Benz, sludge and sluggish driving. That's when you know that you should follow the instructions from the manufacturer. Benz sold in Nigeria uses regular fuel, same thing with Porsche Nigeria. Scan your Mercedes-Benz today and paste the result and let us know if it is coughing and we give the car to an expert to treat it.As for the Japanese cars using different fuel types, kingrein has already answered the question.

Sooperrescue with all due respect sir I am not doubting your knowledge but I've researched up and down about the effect of using regular fuel in premium required vehicles. I was so scared to the point that I almost gave up buying my first German car. I researched and I found out that I will only lose up to 20bhp from the engine power with no damage to the engine. still, premium fuel is highly recommended. In the owners manual it says 'when premium fuel is not available, use regular unleaded and fill up with premium as soon as possible'. The car being said is a Mercedes with M272 engine. I thought of using octane boosters but I just didn't trust the brands I found in Nigeria so I decided to take the risk because so many Mercedes cars with M272 and even m157 amg's are on the road. I used my car for a year with no problem using regular fuel. I had the courage to get another German beast earlier this year with an n54 302bhp straight six engine. It has been gulping regular fuel since it got to Nigeria four months ago and there hasn't been a single cough. So if these two top German brands can manage regular fuel why can't the Japanese with the so called more reliable drive trains do too? I also question the fact that lexus and Toyota use the same V6 engine but how come u said Toyota uses regular and lexus premium?
