I have a girlfriend I am meaning to propose to during the festive period, she's everything I want in a woman except few exception which might be a hindrance to the proposal.
Gist is, my babe is a graduate but lack of work made her to learn fashion designing, she's done with the training and she's very good with what she does.

After marriage, I have told her that I'll assist in her business, I'm planning to get a bigger shop space for her and equip it with modern day machines, tools and tailoring materials goods to help make her work lucrative. I'm budgeting about 1.2-1.5m for this.

The issue now is that, 3 days ago, I asked her what her role would be if eventually after marriage she gets the shop, equipments and all, where she would come in in terms of responsibilities in the house. Her reply was she doesn't want to assume any responsibility and that it's my duty to cater for the family and she can only help & I shouldn't make anything compulsory for her. So many thoughts came through my mind. One of it was that, where the proceeds of her investment would be going to if I should shoulder all the responsibilities in the house knowing fully well that she makes money.

I rang my mum and told her of her response, I was shocked that she backed her saying that I shouldn't have asked her to foot anything in the house that it was my sole responsibility as a man to cater for my family my wife inclusive. My dad too, same thing. Even told my gf mum about it too , she giggled and said I shouldn't have asked her n that it's my duty to provide for my family. They all sounded foreign to me. Or am I the one not understanding?

My question now is, why invest that kind of money in her when I'm not sure of getting little or nothing in terms in return help to run the family. That sum of money could get me 4 brand new bikes and 2 neatly used Keke Napep for transportation business. I'm sure I'll be getting returns from these investment weekly or monthly basis.

I don't want who wouldn't have any sense of responsibility at home after investing in her, even if she's covering 10% or 5% I wouldn't mind. Mere helping doesn't go down well with me, she might have and decide not to give out. I rather not invest at all and expect nothing from her.

I don't know if I'm the one over thinking this things or my parent and her mum aren't seeing things from my perspective or am I being inconsiderate?

Bro, you see when you get married, your parents or hers won't run the marriage for you. This is 21st century, gone are those days men pick up all responsibility.

Any relationship where only one side tend to gain, that's a toxic relationship.

Responsibilties should be shared, that's the joy of marriage.

If she decides not to contribute to the welfare of the family you are about to create, after opening a business for her, then i think you should turn her partner and be the major share holder of the business.

This her mentality has destroyed so many marriages, at first you think is normal to pick up all responsibilities but as time goes, you will see how irritating it is.


Bring up a heart to heart conversation with her, if you truly love her, and tell her this is how you want it.

It's a long story, but bare with me. I won't be apologetic about it.

Well, before I deviate lemme start by saying I legitimately made my first million at age 24. I was BGS in my department, I got lots of gifts and rewards from uncles. I started a Keke business with the proceeds, where I raised up a some money to buy a small land. I use to go check up on the land until one day I stumbled on some geoscientists who came to do seismic exploration in the community where my land happened to be. I happen to be a just graduated Geophysicist bsc. , and I was just looking for how to further for masters degree. It happened that the company involved was top 2 leading multinational oil Giants in Nigeria.

I had enough spare time on my side , so I usually go to the field to monitor their data acquisition process so I was able to relate with some of the field scientists. on the last day, unknown to me , the supervisor of the project came to inspect and he was just looking so casual and unkempt , but I suspected he was man of high Calibre judging from how knowledgeable and experienced he sounded, I tried to catch up.
We shared knowledge and I eventually told him I had a plan to collect the acquired data from the field so I can analyse , process and interpret them and make presentation for the company . He was sceptical because it was gonna take me months to do that and I had no equipments for that . So he introduced himself and he helped me apply for a research grant which was successful. To cut the long story short, I was given research equipments , I studied for months with the help of my lecturers and colleagues and I finally interpreted the geophysical data . There was enough oil in the land , my interpretation had precision on how many thousand kilometers they would need to go .

So I called them to report my research finding , but I heard they were done with interpretation and they already had enough information, but I could apply for internship . I declined and wrote to them pleading for a presentation. So they finally agreed and wrote to me a month later, I prepared my slide, I got there and i was faced with a board of directors and I was given 20mins to present. Guys , I did but it wasnt easy , 5mins into the presentation, i was sweating . I could see the stern look on the faces of these bosses. I delivered and before I could finish, I received a standing ovation. In that spot I was asked to go do medicals and I should drop my CV. I was told by the manager in my field that my report was exactly what they had and even with more precision and information . After being addressed by the HR, i was assigned some welfare in huge some amount of milla , My legs were shaking . I was sent to Manchester for Masters, came back to a 12months full 7fig pay.... I came back and was employed as a senior field geophysicist/ seismic interpreter.


I was young and my story changed for good. I'm where I am today because I worked hard, smart and I was resilient. So youths in the house, you can do better. Yahoo isn't the way.

I have been thinking this, when will i make my first million?
I am currently in the university, but if i visit some of my guys, they live lavishly and more to spend, but deep down my soul and body i tell myself i don't want to do fraud, i want a money that i will make to make myself happy and add value to those paying me, not making the money and those paying are crying.

I don't know how to go about it, i have invested my little monthly allowance on crypto but it doesn't fetch money, a month like this i could profit just #1000. OP I'm loosing hope and focus, i have read so many inspirational books but truth be told, i am loosing hope, i am still a student sha, studying chemical engineerng but if i look at the future of Nigeria i loose hope, i am yet to make my first million.

Okay, i decided to keep my cool on this rape matter but the way it is going, i see ladies are definitely using this trend to push traffick to themselves and become famous.

I could be happy now but the next minute, she changes mood all of a sudden. We dated for over year after someone match make us but this mood swing things continued overtime so sometimes I get confused even as i really tried managing the pressure. She's a nice girl, takes good care of me, buys clothes, cooks, always wants me to look good but the problem is the rate which she switches mood easily.

Financially, we are both average earner but I think she earns better pay than me.

For instance, recently we got a new apartment - 2bedroom flat but whenever I say something she doesn't like or she doesn't want to hear, she just reacts like why would I say such a thing. All the while we were dating, we never stayed with each other as we stayed in our parents house. Fast forward* most times, as the man, after switching mood, I try to pacify her by petting and apologising but she doesn't just want to listen.

Just today, we were playing with each other on the bed, touching each other (not sensitive part) and she wanted me to kiss her. So I told her jokingly that "but you know this is not biblical" as an advocate of no sex until after marriage. I have never had sex with her either. The next thing she said, "why are you talking like this" she stood up, went straight to the sitting room and slept there. I went to meet her there to pacify her again but she wouldn't listen.

Please note that I have not and can never beat or abuse her cos I'm a Christian.

I'm just tired. She's really getting on my nerves. Our wedding is 3 weeks time but I dont just know what to do.
