Please I got a toks Honda Civic 09 barely 2months... Being a newbie & since it's a personal ride for just everyday simple runs like to & fro for work, shopping when needs be etc..I planned to be using the recommended engine oil (which I tried to know earlier but didn't get info). So my friend recommended I bought mobil 20w-50. But I just confirmed the recommended oil for the civic is 5w-20. My question now is
1. Will it be wise to flush out the old and put in new 5w (giving the popular opinion that one should ensure to continue using same type of oil you started with to prevent quick damage of your engine)

2. The car has a ridiculously low ground clearance and it hits the ground frequently when I navigate around undulating terrain. Even the bottom left of the front bumper is showing crack already due to the impact of hitting the ground. Please will you recommend I go to lift the car or probably change to bigger tyres/rims?

3. Since day one of buying the car, it shows this spanner sign on the dashboard and doesn't show anything on that milage display area. (Meanwhile know immediately we bought it we change all the necessary oil and transmission fluid). Please is that something I should worry about, what are the implications...also how do I get that fixed

4. I'm in Abuja please...if you recommend I visit a car fixing shop... Please if possible kindly recommend me someone that is good with Honda

A civic is low to the ground as designed from the manufacturer. If you can’t drive it like that, please sell it off and get a CRV or pilot or element or any taller vehicle.

I suggest you go to a competent technician who’d check your car and advise you better.

Please I can't find the auxiliary port in my MDX 2008. I checked the central console armrest. This is what I saw. (Attached picture).

Though there are some ports facing the back seat below the rear ac vents. Not working with the auxiliary.

If your vehicle has the DVD system, you don’t have the aux port. If it doesn’t have the DVD option, then you have the aux port in your center console with a cover that is lifted from the bottom side.

Are these butterfly valves inside the engine or in the exhaust pipe too?

Butterfly valve is located in the intake manifold at the throttle body, and at the exhaust by the silencer

Pls! I have a problem with my Elantra 08, it vibrate at 30/40 when accelerating have change 2 shaft within 3weeks same problem so definitely the problem is not shaft cos alignment pple will always tell the problem is from shaft cup,no engine light or code from the car.

I scanned my Corolla 03 for transmission issue. It said (shift solenoid. How do I. Rectify this? Gear selects erratically.

Drop valve body, get the exact faulty shift solenoid replaced, reinstall everything back, change trans filter, pour in fresh ATF, test drive. If it works you’re good to go, if not, I’d suggest you replace transmission.
This isn’t a DIY operation.

Good evening all
My Honda 2007 D indicator on dashboard is always blinking once the car is on driver
The issue started on Friday after I asked an electrician to check all the fuses in the car to make sure they all pass currents he removed all the fuse and use little naked wire to bridge all the fuse and suck them back.

I went to my mechanic and he said it’s my gear sensor that needs servicing after servicing the sensor and changing of gear oil, I start the car and the blinking stop at some point it started again, it seems the blinking comes on when the car is hot or so

My Gear selects well
Engine is sound

The 2 problems I’m having now is
1) the D blinking
2) once I’m on hold up with AC my car sounds as if it’s not getting enough fuel supply be sounding like it once to off. Like there’s a cut in fuel supply.

I’m in Abuja please what can you suggest because I want to take it to mechanic or electrician
I don’t even know.

There is this fake exhaust leak tapping sound on my glk only when accelerating fast... i have removed the exhaust system to diagnose where the leak was coming from..

during this procedures we fhave found a cracked cone where the exhaust is joined together and sone other parts with leaks. We removed the exhaust manifolds; bank 1 and 2 to check the gaskets and there was no others leaks...

With all these, their is no improvement in the sound. Another guess is a cracked or leaking plugs which i havent done yet.

GLK have active exhaust system. There are butterfly valves which can actuate during the engine running depending on throttle input, it opens and closes to create turbulence and rumbling noise inside. Also, there are valves and cuts inside the exhaust passageway too. If they’re burnt and broken, you may get distorted sounds.

How is the maintenance?

It’s a good car,maintenance isn’t high, parts are available, if you’re buying a fairly used unit, pls ask about the maintenance history and type of oils used especially in the transmisssion because i4 models has CVT transmission while the V6 uses traditional automatic transmission.

@topic, Corolla isn’t anywhere near Camry in aesthetics or comfort or performance but it’s cheaper. That said, pls do well to verify that the car has all its documents intact and you meet and conclude with the owner before parting with cash.

A lot of things can cause this delayed start. Have the car scanned and if no codes pops up, have it inspected by a competent technician.

Brand new,tokunbor aka naija used with doubts like 7k. ABS is basically for stability of vehicle during slippery roads,rather than going zig zag,u will be going straight and would be able to brake to a stop within 5 to 7 seconds,b4 your gear jumps to neutral esp on hard emergency brakes. Lexus dey mad oh. I miss lexus sha.

Please I have a few issues with my 2006 gs350. The scan code is below. Anyone with ideas on how to approach this issue? It has been giving me some headache really. No noticeable issue with the vehicle though. But those lights on are just very alarming.

Some of the lights on are
AFS, ABS, Brake, check 4wd, check VSC

Replace rear left wheel speed sensor.
Do you have a Check engine light on?

please my car is camryxle2013 the hub was making noise and my mechanic asked me to change the hub which i did by buying a tok hub but since the hub was changed the abs light has been on and i was asked to change the wheel sensor attached to the hub which i did but the abs light refused to go off and the hub is still making noise please what can i do?

Have another competent technician carefully check it.
