Thanks baba mi, my concern is the 2gr engine, Rav 4 with that engine is problematic & already grounded in the car park. Chairman been think of glk due to the same engine on RX being 2GR & uncle already bought glk for wifey. As for me I already know it's RX for me maybe he can go for glk later down the line we compare performance & cost of ownership.

I don't care about gas conservation cos luxury & gas conservation no dey always toe the same line.

I'm interested in knowing why that said RAV4 with 2GR failed.
As far as I can tell, no 2GR is problematic. They're extremely reliable and rugged. Though they they may not be as smooth as the M272 or M276 in the GLK.

Biko I need user opinion & gurus advice on 2010 glk toks, 2012 RX 350 driven for few months & 2010 RX 350 Nigerian used (less than 2yrs) with 2GR engine.

I need head on comparison between 2010 glk & 2012 RX 350 on; reliability, ride quality, routine maintenance cost, luxury. Any other thing to watch out for like common problem associated with both ride.


I also need indept user review on 2010 RX 350, is there any common problem it's riddled with.
What's the performance of 2GR like considering Nigerian bad roads, any thing to watch out for while cruising the ride, as a ride already driven oh no Nigeria what should be the fixes/repairs to look out for.

High Negative Short term and Long term fuel trim All the time, Edakun help me

But because the longterm native fuel trim hasn't crossed -25%, my ECU is yet to set a p0172 code, but my fuel consumption had been bad affected, before I do 34mpg average, now I do roughly 26mpg, same route to work

Alot of other stuffs and sensors needs to be checked to know why the fuel trims are the way they're.

What's your rpm when you took record of the MAF at 5.1 g/s, what's your outside temp also (what time of the day), also, what's your coolant temp reading, and your AF sensor readings in V at idle and at 2000rpm?

My Throttle body is in the car. And like I have said, I have done relearn with my throttle body countless times and they have tried to use scanner to do relearn as well. Why not tell me what to do than buying it from me. That car is sweet and reliable.

I have told you all that is supposed to be done to relearn your TB.

I have done this Relearn by myself before over and over and over again. When I say that the Mechanic has a computer, I mean Scanner. I know that his scanner is good except their is a special scanner for the relearn.

Where is your original throttle body?
Install it back and do the relearn.

If e no work, I go buy that car from your hand as long as it's white or silver.

On Drive gauge the engine is too high. We have checked with computer and computer did not see any problem with the engine. What do I do. Anybody with experience on this.

I have bought the Throttle Body four times from Lagos in the last three weeks and all of them still rebs up and down. The Mechanic guy used his computer to try and bring it down to no avail. I am confused on what to do next, I just need help.

but I've told you what you need. You need someone who has a scanner that does throttle body relearn.

Try all of these...

**a quick reset can be accomplished by disconnecting the negative battery terminal, and depressing the brake a few times.

ECU Resetting Procedures
Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
Operations Procedures
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.

Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning
Operation Procedure
1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.



Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
Operation Procedures
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch to “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.
Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
It is better to count the time accurately with a clock. 1. Perform “Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning”.
2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Confirm that the accelerator pedal is fully released, then turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.

'Sophisticated computer system' is an ambiguous phrase. That sophisticated computer system could just be big and sophisticated for no good use. This I've seen countless times. Get a proper tool that is capable of fixing this issue.

I read it's likely from malfunctioning airbags control module ..

You need a complete system diagnosis and then you can take up repairs from there. Some things may trigger other faults codes anyways.

Even a normal scanner with throttle adaptation capabilities can do it.

Noooo, you don't need to purchase another throttle body, or all these throttle bodies. You only need a relearn procedures carried out on them.

Mini doesn't have a 1.5L engine (as far as I can tell for the 2002-2015 models). It either came with a 1.4 or 1.6 naturally aspirated or Turbo engine. They usually come with Peugeot prince or BMWs engine.

Very terribly engineered vehicle and very unreliable with parts scarce yet prohibitively expensive, for the models with the All4 (all wheel drive) you must drop engine before you remove that crankshaft sensor.

I know this cos I fix them (I stopped fixing them so no need).

Old classic minis are reliable for what they're.

Modern Minis especially early 2000s till 2016 models are terrible. A mix of BMW and Peugeots. How more terrible could these get?
Early 2000s had a CVT as auto transmission, they were known to throw up failures. Their turbos also were known to fail, prince engines, N18 with turbos were also known to develop faults. Then are their electricals.

Access to parts are also an issue here in Naija.

E hard for me to talk o. Peugeot 306, 307 and Nissan Almera are all good. As long as you have the manual transmission variants, you're game. I don't know about price of parts cos I don't handle those cars. But I know they're rugged and reliable.
