Go for it. Ensure it's not flooded or having any electrical palava or badly maintained. It's a good decent vehicle.
I've used one for 6.5 years and I sold it this year. Go thru my profile and my replies, you'd get exhaustive read-ups about the vehicle.

I use my cruise control effectively when I travel but it's obviously unusable in traffic or in a bad road which is almost everywhere in Nigeria. The main disai notice to cruise control is that it waste fuel

It's very usable in anywhere especially with modern cars having adaptive cruise control with autonomous braking and acceleration. Try it with a Mercedes Benz or INFINITI or Acura or Lexus or Toyota, you'd notice how effective they're. I've tried it in a land cruiser. It even slowed down when the car in front slowed down to enter a pothole and resumed when the car in front resumed speed.
Most of those modern driving aids work well in Nigeria. I've tested quite a number of them.

Lane departure warning, lane keep assist, auto highbeam assist, even traffic sign recognition.

Some of us are just wired differently. if you hate the element, you did probably hate the Toyota FJ cruiser.

But in all the element is a reliable vehicle if you can look pass the boxy shape

FJ cruiser is a very cool masculine truck. It also has heritage and pedigree. It made to pay homage to Toyota land cruiser's humble beginnings especially the BJ 40 truck.
Now, what pedigree and heritage does that piece of śhytè called the Element abi na atom has? What does it pay tribute to?

Straight to the point, a grandma needs a car. Grandma is a pensioner and drives herself with some drama of course.

My suggestions were ES 300/330, RX 300/330 and Rav4, all 04-08. There was also a suggestion of Big Daddy, which I dismissed as big for nothing.

She can get an RX330 or ES 330. They're decent and comfortable. Avoid that rav4.

And also avoid that man up there screaming Honda element pls.

The only down side of the vehicle is the brake issue it normally has, which cost a lot to fix. I think it also rust if you wade in muddy water often

Those trucks don't have issues with their brakes, neither do they have issues with rusts. It's not an old tacoma or old tundra

These trucks had 2 different transmission. The 4speed which was replaced with a 5speed and the the addition of VVT-i technology to the engines.

The ECU has its own VIN input which was readout. It was from a German used car.

All these obvious and subtle signs are dependent on the experience and thoroughness of the technician handling such conversion. I've converted a RHD to LHD Avensis and nobody knows it was converted cos I intentionally and painstakingly went thru the whole process very thoroughly. Even it's ECU was replaced and every single panel or connection for LHD models works as they should. It was expensive but very worth it.

Aside from the obvious poor fuel economy(v8) which I don't mind, what is the feasibility or practicality of owning this model in nigeria.

Owners or former owners of this tank should please give an insight to the ownership, how accessible are the parts, what is the cost of its engine and gear, what are the common issues with this jeep.

That behemoth isn't a JEEP as alleged by you and that's the first error you made. It's a piece of fine Japanese utility art tool.

It doesn't consume as bad as you think it does. I know this cos same engine, and power train is used in the GX470 and that truck despite its dimension and weight doesn't take much fuel.

Parts are abound and available but not common and are not cheap. But when you get them, they last very very long as long as they're genuine.

Go for highlander. It's the best of the trio. It's the most powerful, most spacious, most rugged, most common, has better road manners and handling, comfort and it's the smoothest. It has the best resale value amongst the trio.

How do I know this?

I've used a highlander 4 cylinder for 4 years and no break down. I just sold my rx330 after 6 years without any single issue. And this Highlander is actually a stripped down version of RX330 cos it shares same engine, transmission and AWD and shocks.
