Hi nairalanders!

I bought a fairly Nigerian used Toyota Camry 2006 model early last year, and they came with recently changed tires according to the owner, all of the tyres are model contiroveter evolution with manufacture date of 22/14. They all look OK.

However on my way to my PPA in Benue last month, two of the tires had issues, one ripped completely on my way, while the other irreparably wore down at the centre when I got there.

Now I'm planning on changing all tires. Please I will appreciate any advice on the best cost effective tires for replacement and their current relative prices.

Weldone alli have a 2007 lexus rx350 , i scanned it with an obd2 scanner, find below the following codes i got and pls let me know the solution to the problem.

P0300- random/multiple cylinder misfire detected
P0301- cylinder 1 misfire detected
P0303- cylinder 3 misfire detected
P0016- crankshaft position- camshaft position correlation
P0019- same as P0016
P0021- "A" camshaft position- Timing over- Advanced or system performance
P0025- "B" camshaft position- Timing over retarded
P0352- ignition coil "B" primary/secondary circuit
P0354- ignition coil "" primary/secondary circuit
P0356- ignition coil "F" primary/secondary circuit
P0441- evaporative emission system incorrect purge flow
P0455- evaporative emissin system leak detected(large leak)

As mentioned by EgunMogaji, it is just down to your preference. The only thing is, IIRC, the 2005 V8 engine uses the timing belt and the 2007 V6 uses timing chain. Ensure the timing belt is done as scheduled or account for the cost if you plan to buy it. I do not trust most mechanics in Naija doing such work so to have a peace of mind, you might need to shell some good amount with a reputable mechanic to get it done right.

Also, as I pointed out before, if you will be buying a pre 2007, ensure you check the transmission fluid to make sure it hasn't mixed with the coolant due to damaged radiator. If the radiator looks relatively new, check the transmission very well because what happens sometimes is owners flush the transmission fluid and change the radiator after the radiator malfunctions. A lot of times, the transmission will start malfunctioning not too long after. Believe me, I know all about this. It happened to my colleague's 03 Tundra and he had to change the transmission. It happened to a 4runner I owned also.

If you end up buying the Tundra, just install an after market transmission fluid cooler. Not only will it prevent having the mixed coolant and transmission fluid possible problem, it will also help maintain your transmission system better especially if you will be doing a lot of hauling and off-roading. Another option is to just change the radiator as soon as you buy it. I do it to all my Toyota trucks as part of my initial maintenance and it takes me no more than an hour. I just buy and after market (new) radiator and nothing fancy.

Which did you advise I go for? The V6 or V8? I saw a 2005 V8 at N1.5m and a 2007 V6 at N2.5m. What do you advice, house?

2004 even stronger than the tundra the only major repair was changing of the driver side hub.the windows are manual, no central lock. apart from that its OK and the ac is very very very cool.
its a 4.7l v8 engine. mpg depends on the way you drive it. and it very quick.
I personally don't put my feet down one the pedal.

Check if you have crank position sensor code. The computer will not command 4th gear if it is there.

It's a v4 engine .It didn't cool cos wh I brought it they loosen the one in the car and replaced with the new one I bought a complete cup and shaft so it was not even opened . The too was cleaned with cloth. I use T4 oil

Help please I changed my shaft and cup two days ago . Only to drive my car and noticed it didn't charge gear properly when I accelerates it goes high and won't change later it would engage and disengage . I scanned and it shows p0746 I google it and it's talking about solenoid what do I do I live in Lagos please drop your no or call me 08039713675. I have never had issues with my carmy 2007 . This is frustrating I need urgent help . Thanks

The Tundra size advantage is only for haulage (pulling a trailer) it's not for carrying any heavy load. It's part will be expensive as its a sequoia in truck form.

The op said for off road, the Tacoma is not even the best of the lot, the Frontier comes first only because it is cheaper than the hilux.

I will pick a Mitsubishi L200 over Toyota Tacoma.

Ask for the mazda/ford I was specific with year, you need to make research well the engine in that car is very popular in Lagos ibadan inter state vehicles. The engine alone is fitted to alot of Mazda and Ford though they aren't popular, it's just like saying the Toyota condor and Echo are not reliable because they aren't popular
