[s]Peugeot 301 is not an upgrade of Peugeot 206. The 301 that got this award was a reintroduction of Peugeot 301 model, which was first produced decades ago. And Peugeot 408 you referred to was not an upgrade of Peugeot 307. Peugeot 308 replaced 307. The 408 is a new introduced model.

If you want to review a car, you have to be technically specific. To say Peugeot 301 is very slow sounds like a beer parlour opinion. The current Peugeot 301 that got this award has more than one petrol engine, with different hp/powers. So, you are saying the 1.2 liter 3-cylinder engine in 301 must posses same power with 301 with other 4-cylinder engines, including transmissions? So if the Peugeot 301 with the 1.2 liter engine felt slow to you (if that was the one you were driven in), does that make all Peugeot 301 same in terms of power? Besides, people that buy cars with less powerful engines are not interested in power, but low fuel consumption. Specifications of cars indicate people with particular intention or purposes cars are targeted to or designed for. It cut across all car brands.

Same way you cant say Peugeot 206 are slow, when probably you drove one with 1.4 liter TU3 75 hp engine, when there are about 5 petrol engines in 206 you haven't experienced, ranging from 75 hp - 180 hp. Would you say the same thing if you had driven Peugeot 206 with TU5JP, TU5JP4, EW10J4 & EW10J4S? Those that buy 206 with TU3 engines are probably not interested in power, but a 206 that consumes very little amount of fuel, with less powerful engine.

Learn all these things before you review or start criticizing a car. It's all about specificity or specifications. Even this Peugeot 301 that got this car of the year award is the outdated model. The sale of the revised or newer model of the lion is expected to start next year, 2017, by PAN, and also expected to be sold with the Peugeot PureTech engines that was awarded world Engine of the year 2 consecutive times.

Note that I am not trying to stop you from criticizing Peugeot 301 & Peugeot 206 if that's what you want. I only pointed out the positives about those Lions you probably didn't know and might be interested to know, including other people that read this thread. In every subject, there is positive and negative side of it, depending on the one you choose to focus on that gives you joy.

CVTs are expensive, unreliable, and vastly complicated, which i dont believe is a fair trade off for what they do. Though they're not as bad as DSGs, they still suck arse. I prefer autos with tiptronics

Peogeot is as good as Ford, VW, BMW & even Audi.

Those from the Eastern block are not my favourite except Toyota.

Please, I use this same kind of car. Toyota Avalon 2005/06 model . My dashboard showed MAINT REQR'D for some weeks now. It has refused to go after I serviced the car & changed the oil.

I think you're the one who Knocked that Cars engine and you should be arrested .
You're no different than the other kazzemms on the street. Putting heater net like they call it in the engine.
Most of does things you put was sucked in the engine and it went kaboom and knocked .
Its all your fault .
An engine will never knock because of absence of catalyst. You should have left it empty after removing the broken catalyst particles in it , till the owner has money to buy a new catalytic converter .

CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINT

*car does not ascend hills,
*fuel pump replaced by a mechanic without any improvement
*some noises coming from the engine
*car is at Ogbaku, in Imo state.
*wants the vehicle fixed and driven back to Lagos

THE FIX. WHAT WE DID

*traveled to the East to asses the c the car, and further confirm what the customer's complaints were.
*troubleshooting of the car was done by physical checks of the various exhaust related components, and a test drive carried out.
Discovered the car can't ascend a hill; low exhaust back pressure; and rattling noises from underneath the engine/exhaust area.
*drove car to a workshop, and requested the panel beater to remove the exhaust system in segments so we could identify the suspect component.
Exhaust tailpipe and mufflers were removed, and inspected for blockages. They were all through.
*asked the panel beater to rip through the catalytic converters with his oxyacetylene flame, in order to see the state if the catalysts.
To our surprise, only one of the catalytic converters was clogged, and the other catalytic converter has got no catalyst even in it.
*removed all the disintegrated catalysts, [color=#006600]and stacked mesh wires in its place.[color] This was done temporarily to reduce the "buuuuuuu" noise, and to enable us drive the car to Lagos.
Drove the car to Lagos; handed it over to the owner, and engine got knocked some weeks after.
*plans are on the way to replace the engine, as at the time this article was being conceived.

A stitch in time saves 10(my own saying please).
