good roads alone will not put food on the table. you need industries to provide steady jobs for the citizen. the super highway is a road of great economic value, as it will serve as an evacuation corridor for goods produced in the industries. all are still laudable projects.
One question.
Are there any good roads linking CRS to neighbouring states and hinterlands to main markets with which agro based products can easily be brought in?
Yes or No

IBBG:
Cross River State Garment Factory is the largest garment factory in the world by floor size and is awaiting the Guinness Book of World Records verification. The factory is a project of the Cross River State government under the leadership of Ben Ayade, the executive governor of the state. The garment factory is a very innovative investment in Nigeria at a time of recession and is expectedto create more than 3,000 jobs in shifts for Cross Riverians, especially women, and reduce importation of garments by promoting local production. The factory is expected to also promote economic development in Nigeria and add to the growth of the Gross Domestic Product. In recent times, the Cross River Garment Factory has been trending in the media for many good reasons. The first is that of all the states in the federation, the factory is one of the most outstandingprojects from any governor in the first year.On the other hand there has been some negative publicity related to the garment factory propagated by a few Cross Riverians which has to do with the ownership of the garment factory and alleged embezzlement of funds appropriated for its construction.I sought to find out more about the Cross River Garment factory for myself and many other Cross Riverians who would love to know the truth about the factory and separate them from the half-truths and lies being peddled in the media. In this journey of discovery, I took a trip to the garment factory to see things for myself, met the commissioner for Commerce and Industries and had a chat with him and spoke with some of the contractors involved in the construction of the factory.

Most of you on this forum don't read to understand simple questions.
The enquirer (OP) painted a scenario which is also a hypothesis. It was an assumption; and as such he inputs the 50ltrs of gasoline.
Here is what you do not know regarding a V6 engine and an i4 engine (6cylinders and 4cylinders).

1)V6 has so much horse power that it climb up a hill on the highway with 5 able bodied passengers and their luggages on a constant RPM, the 4cylinders has a remarkable shortcomings in this regards.
2) When it also comes to using your HVAC system (AC) on the above mentioned engines, on a V6 the drag and extra workload the compressor imposes on the engine is almost zero cause there is so much horse power, but on an i4 engine the reverse is the case.

Uncle, I have both vehicle and I do not need any of you to lecture me on the consumption ratios. Your argument can tell that you are one of those that have this Nigerian phobia for a V6 engine, eliminate your fears OK?
If its your QX4 you're referring to, its a gas guzzling vehicle. We all know that, even the internet knows that.

Fact is, a V6 2.5l will save more fuel than an i4 2.6l

Below are the fuel consumption figures for an RX 300 according to Lexus.

City Driving: 16mpg
Highway Driving : 21mpg

A 2003 model year 4-Cylinder RAV4 will do the following according to Toyota

City Driving: 21mpg
Highway Driving : 27mpg

A 2005 model year 4-Cylinder Honda EOD will do the following according to Honda

City Driving: 21mpg
Highway Driving : 31mpg

So your decision will really be influenced by the car you are comparing the RX300 to. Please note that these are the figures touted by the manufacturers when these cars are brand new.

Real life figures will be different especially as we incorporate all the other factors - age, state of engine, etc. And also that Lagos state has a different category not captured by any of the manufacturers which is traffic / go-slow driving.

I hope this helps.

You can get figures from the site provided by nurey in an earlier post.

Rule of the thumb, open my bonnet everyday and check all fluids before cranking in the morning.
Although, I've not had any course to top any fluids in between fluid change or any issue but I should be very observant about the state of my engine and fluids and also about the lights in my cluster.

@2- I once read on an article that a airplane can successfully land with one engin if the other engines get shut off (one engine can generate enough thrust for safe landing), but it experience comes into play. Another article I read said an airplane with failed engines (all engines shut down), can still sustain gliding in the air for about 1000km (not sure of the figure though, if it is 100 or 1000) with the initially generated thrust, before it drops from the sky (stalling). Now the question is, is that true?
@ 3- I have been curious about something since I was a kid: all the engines in n airplane shuts down, can one get the engines back online and the airplane "picking up" without any form of taxi-ing? (I hope you understand the question)
And finally @ 4- I guess the question the other person was trying to ask if it is highly flammable like gasoline, or a little stubborn like diesel (some of us are curious. We know fuel must burn before an engine can get enough energy to power the propellers that generate thrust).
Now my own question :
A-is it through the name of commercial airplane's fuel is "kerosene"?
B- are they commercial airplane that run on diesel like some training airplane like DA 40 and DA-42 (NB- DA= Diamond Aircraft) ?
C- what is/ are the name of the impurities added to the fuel of aircrafts that prevent them from freezing in the air when temperature drops?
Sorry for the lenghty post
Hope you know I'm not in the aviation industry, heck! I'm not even an Engineer. I just love airplanes as I love cars.

They do say "Plane crashed" due to an engine failure. Now using boeing 777 which has 2 engines to attached to the wings as an example, when plane is in motion, does the two engines work at the same time OR one will be in standby mode while one is working?

Secondly, IF two engines are working at the same time, does it make any sense saying plane crashed when two engines are working or are they saying the two engines stopped working at the same time?

Lastly, If it is only one engine working while one is in standby mode, if they notice an sign of engine failure, how many seconds will it take the second engine to start working when there is a fault detected on the first engine while in air.

Also is aviation fuel flammable? grin grin grin

Are there bulletproof planes grin grin grin

I see some planes' wings that at the end of the wings, they are bended vertically upward, does it really matter or it is just a form of "packaging"

Also, are private jets expensive than commercial jets

Pls, dont tell me to ask google ooo.. lol
1. When an aircraft is in flight, all its engines are at work

2. When an engine shuts down, a jet may still have sufficient power in remaining engine(s) to land safely, however, there are cases where both engines shuts down/gets a fault (eg multiple catastrophic bird strikes to both engines). A lot comes into play when a crash happens.

3. While mid air, both engines works. However, when one shuts down, the crew members (pilot and co) get a notification on the onboard flight systems, and they immediately try to restart that shut down engine..

4. Aviation fuel like every other fuels are flammable.

5. I don't think so (except choppers).

6. Those bent up tips are called winglets and are to aid stability in fight and counter differences on airpressures/vortexes.

7. Depending on manufacturer, model and level of personalization a private jet may be more expensive or cheaper than a commercial jet.

joebeckz:
Last week Friday, I was avoiding a heavy traffic congestion along East West road @ Port Harcourt in the rain so I took an alternative route with no idea it was flooded. I reached a point where the water was covering the whole engine, the car almost gave up in the water but I never stopped firing to avoid water getting into the exhaust pipe cos if it did, the car would off and it's a bigger problem. I saw not less than 20 cars go off in the water. At the end, I succeeded in getting to the other side, just me and another guy using a Ford Ranger. What saved me was
1. If you must pass through a flood above knee level or waist level like I did, be sure to trust your car alternator and keep firing but not too fast to avoid water into ur exhaust.
2. be sure there are no leakages in your exhaust pipe anywhere under the car and be sure there are no wholes under the car else u would have a swimming pool in the car.
3. After passing through, do not turn off the car, the car would be slow to responding because a little water is still in the exhaust, do not fire too much, press and release gradually, u would see a white smoke coming out of the exhaust, until it stops then u are sure of no water inside.
4. Do not try passing if your car fan is rotating. Why I had no issue with the fan was because, it doesn't rotate at all except when necessary. That's how it was built.
5. Do not use the AC at all except u wanna destroy compressor and a whole lot.

Always stop and go round the car to check for falling bumper due to pressure of the water when it is a large one like the one I passed through.
It's better not to even pass to avoid all of the above. Have a great day.
You need to be grateful the water didn't enter into the engine and cause hydro lock of the engine.

I am a regular flyer but have fobia for crashed airlines especially the ones flown in Nigerian airspace ! A case in point in early 2000s I boarded an ADC flight from calabar to Lagos in which we hovered around Lagos for more than 30 mins for non deployment of the landing gears . Immediately we touched down at MMA the plane was scheduled for ABJ (WEIRD YOU MAY SAY !) Not too long this very aircraft crashed killing all on board including a prominent personality from Sokoto ......the airline has been rested permanently for good .

Why did TINAPA fail ?
Tinapa failed due to a host of reasons.
1. The raw materials for the project was not available (raw materials here referred to goods and sevice produced/to be provided) was absent.
2. The Nigeria and African population didn't embrace concept of free trade zones commerce.
3. Transportation To and From Tinapa was undeveloped and where available was unplanned.
4. No supporting industries to boost up Tinapa.
5. I feel corruption and bureaucracy
5. Lack of continuity in successive administration
6. The project seemed bigger than what Cross River State govt alone could carry (despite it being a great and noble project).
7. Other Nigerian factors.

Most of the people saying good idea have no idea of economy and should please never comment on the economy again.

Aviation is a capital intensive venture in which we don't even have the expertise, we should be conserving scarce foreign exchange not spending it on unproductive ventures.

If the Governor wants to pursue a PPP enterprise in the transportation, he should call Innoson.
Simple. Very straight forward answer. The only thing a government can do as regards business is to create enabling environment for business men and women to come invest and also regulate the practices of such business. The furthest the government can do is either PPP (where the government has a lower input).

Forward thinking leadership.... If only governors of richer states can be this visionary.

States like Akwa-ibom, Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa should have since constructed their own state owned refineries and petrochemical plants which should be managed as profit driven private ventures. There's also been a loud cry about northerners owning oil wells, very soon there would be a new round of oil block allocation and I'm very sure because of the uproar lately, the next bidding process would be relatively transparent. I still wonder why Niger-Delta state governments can't float state owned oil companies which can also bid for oil blocks since the states have the capacity to raise the required capital.
A 21st century proactive government would not dare to bid for oil blocs and build a Refinery especially at these period where oil prices in the int'l market isn't very predictable. Its a very capital intensive venture, it takes time and also youd need to consider other factors such as professionals available, environmental factors, the international oil markets and international politics.

I personally wished Liyel Imoke had continued where Donald Duke stopped, but did a bit of fine tuning and polishing of his regional development programmes. Its not too late for Ben Ayade to beat a retreat, call all relevant stake holders and past administrations to understand their plans and vision for the state (if they had any in the first instance). Then build upon the gains of those visions, and try to correct some anomaly.
CRS is a tourist destination but its dwindling due to the recent economic and financial hardship experienced, but he (Ayade) could revamp these tourism and also reinvigorate the Tinapa resort and many other resorts, push for SMEs opening up and also support them.

I see CRS as a good destination for tourism development with their rich cultural heritage, water bodies, and also their rolling hills, and forest reserves which could be used to generate income for the state.

There is just not enough traffic in Calabar to make Tinapa attractive.

Besides Calabar is not the whole of Cross River. Cross river remains a largely rural state with its population largely living in poverty similar to the entire country's statistics.
Decision makers in this part of the world just start off a development without due consultation and consideration.UAE as we all know it to be followed Francis Perroux's theory of Growth Pole and Growth Centre theories. Donald Duke created Tinapa which had the potential to grow into an internationally renowned Tourist free trade zone and a continental hub. He copied Dubai (which is a middle east free trade hub) but he didn't follow the same Growth pole and growth centres of Francis Petrous which UAE decision makers took.
The UAE decision makers developed UAE using the knowledge that different regions grows at different pace (due to unique characteristics), and grows at points, cores, centres (industries, institutional, manufacturing, commercial nerve centres et al) and the likes. But for the region to grow, the core, centres and points must have viable links which services these industries, commercial, institutional, manufacturing centres etc.

This simple economic theorem (although abridged) is what these political decision makers lack.
