LadyMercedes: oh, I will. I'll definitely get one. There's no two ways about it.
The crazy part is, as long as it's Honda it'll open another Honda door, irrespective of the model. Kai! When the EIS malfunctions or the smart keyless go refuse to suck you'd know what a Merc is all about. |

adepelummy: Hello sir, I just purchased a Passat 09 and two mechanic said it was good but while bringing it to Ibadan from abuja it developed some engine problems. We called the seller and after a lot of fight he said he can't buy new engine but replace the affected parts like crank shaft etc . My question can my car still function as good with the change of the faulty part. I will be bringing my car to you after it gets to Ibadan if you know about Passat 09 .I want u to be my auto mech And I must get a free scan first Hmmm, thank goodness I'm not Tobiak, na this kind of customers I dey sharply repel even before they come around. No diplomacy, no curtesey just crude force. Sorry about your vehicle palava tho. But really, I will honestly advice Mr Tobiak against handling your car, you should not bother bringing a dead horse to him for resurrection abeit in a rude manner requesting a service he gives out freely to whosoever he pleases in a manner that depict force and rudeness. |

uboma: thanks for sharing yours.
can your car do better than the current 18.6mpg as displayed?
what is the reading when you are on the highway? The picture I posted was my mileage today. Real actual mileage of my SUV is just about that amount or minus 1MPG Mine actually hovers between 17-19 city driving which is its actual driving mileage recently. I've not taken it on long highway stretches apart from a journey which I did to Kaduna and back (heavy leaded foot wont allow the SUV to achieve that mileage. I've once achieved 11MPG due to my former driving style. Na 'Chanji' make me repent |

vani86: Bro dont get worked up over it, i think he stepped out of line as well, but there is no petrol car available today that will do 50 MPG, the only type of cars that will come close are hybrid or pure electric cars, the new prius have a combined mpg of about 60. No way a carina e will achieve that. Ever heard of "hyper milling"? Ever seen a 3 cylinder petrol? Now, ever tried hyper milling with a Peugeot 301 3 cylinder engine and you'd get close to 60mpg. |

Readonee35L: You said A Toyota can still tolerate our bad fuel , but a Lexus needs premium fuel. I don't understand this because Both brands are the same and they share the same Engine like the 2gr. So why should the Lexus malfunction because of fuel and while the Toyota performs fine . Or does the emblem affects the fuel engine Ni the 2gr-fe you see in an ES350, RX350 is same used in Highlander, Camry, avalon, venza, the same applies to the IMZ and 3MZ engines etc. Lexus recommends premium fuel due to ECU which is tuned to accept premium fuel. That said, using a regular unleaded fuel wont harm the car, however, the ecu will adjust the timing to accept the regular fuel and this will rob the driver of a few horsepower which is barely noticeable in everyday driving. |

coccoduck: He robbed you of your catalytic converter, a very expensive part, (Google it to find out more) that is why the check engine light came on, then the flashing check engine is because there is a random misfire, that is all the cylinders are not contributing to total engine power and they are not firing when they should, remember my last post, I asked you whether your engine overheated, that is another thing you should check. maybe your engine head gasket is blown, you can use Google to know more about this part and its purpose. And be prepared to spend. you wan give OP high blood pressure this independence holiday? you know there are subtle ways to tell him he's gonna have to get prepared to be heavily bleeded, and he'll gladly be looking forward to the the event. |

There is no recession for auto engineers because the motorists do not have a choice to let their cars remain at home. Uber usage is expensive and keke and danfo are not a better alternative |

kinremi: Thank you everyone that has contributed. please see below other things that happened.
1. The car was purchased as tokunbo since Feb 2015 and has been performing very fine till now that the check engine light came up and flashing. 2. I remember there was a time my mechanic said i need to change the the silencer pot but he advised that instead of changing it completely he talked something about "mofla" (I might not get the right spelling pls pardon me) and that was done, not long the check engine light came up but was not flashing. 3. After few months the engine light started flashing 4. few days weeks ago the car overheated because i forgot to lock the radiator cover and the gasket was changed (before this the check engine has been flashing) 5. Now the engine is not overheating, the coils and the spark plugs are changed, the codes were reset or cleaned.
6. But the check engine light is not off and after few minutes of driving it comes flashing and power reduce with a mild vibration.
before the silencer pot itch the engine light does not come on, the vsc light only comes on if i use a bend sharply but we go off by itsef.
I am suspecting the silencer pot I don't know if I should replace it completely.
Please what is ur suggestion. hope you know your mechanic and you combine to woundjure that innocent motor? change the technician you patronize. where's your location? |

amodu28: @Kinremi what type of spark plug did you replace with? Some of the spark plugs you see out dere are not original and how much did dey buy the plugs?
Also i would like to know after changing the spark plugs did they erase the check engine light? Your technician will have to check the braking system which has a link with the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) that reduces the engine performance of the vehicle by intermittently locking the wheels.
You can contact me for more info 07032761155 toyuota/lexus/scion do not lock their wheels during LIMP mode. the VSC comes on whenever anything triggers the check engine light to illuminate. it only robs the driver of approx 20hp (whih is barey noticeable in everyday driving). If the cause of the CEL is tackled and solved, the VSC goes. |

sooperrescue: Make i nor shout too much, get an octane booster and it will resolve the problem. Lexus requires premium unleaded fuel only and that is not available locally in as much as i respect your experiences and practicality, i will have to disagree with you on this. A lexus gx, rx and es are one of the most tolerant premium cars around, yes, their manufacturer requires premium fuel, however, in the absence of the premium fuel, these vehicles can still perform well and still last as long as their toyota siblings with a slight loss in Horsepowers (well, who needs the 270bhp when you're not running US interstate highway 63 or autobahn?), that asides, these octane boosters and injector cleaners could cause more harm to a toyota/lexus than you feel. This info is coming from someone whos been fixing lexus and also owns an RX for 2yrs 9 months. |
