2 months ago my rav 4 gearbox started having problems of not entering reverse gear, and to not selecting gear at all.
I visited one mechanic and he told me.my gear box is bad, that I will but another one. so we went to the market to get a tokunbo gearbox, and found one which cost almost #130,000 to purchase. the mechanic fixed the new gearbox and everything was fine, but just yesterday, I noticed the reverse gear is now working, and when I put it on drive it just select gear 1 and 2 and when it gets to 3 it the gear will dis engage like that of neutral.

I don't know what to do anymore. I just need advice on how to solve this issue.

What ATF did the Technician put in the gearbox when he installed it?

A 2000 camry uses coils so there is no plug cable to be replaced, check to make sure electrical connection to coil and injector I is good.

Swap coils to check if code follows the coil

Well, three ways to go about it are:
1. Get a leather which looks and feels like the dashboard material texture and have a good upholster wrap it.
2. Get a dashboard wool mat.
3. Buy a to jumbo dashboard and replace yours.

And he bought it tokumbo last year..this my friend barely drives the car hence he sold it to me that drives it... Cos I went with him to inspect the car.. So I observed it's a drinker.. So.. quick help here i noticed my toyota highlander has a leaking gear oil (slightly leaking though) but it should aggravate soon. Good people pls help with what i can do to salvage the situation and also advise the transmission oil to use and how much it costs in the market now.
