banky3w: My 2003 Toyota Camry does not smoke from the exhaust and neither does it drops oil on the floor when parked, but the oil shortage I get is massive especially when I travel with it and it's becoming worrisome. I am sceptical about my mechanic busting open my engine to check because he cannot pinpoint what's exactly wrong. I use Toyota oil (20w 50). Could it be the oil? I also tried Mobil 1 and it happens too. Please guys, I need advice because I love this car. Runs like a dream. Please help!!! 2AZ-FE has a well documented write ups on the internet on the issue of slight oil burning. But sorry bro, you helped it attained a more alarming state by the use of 20W50. New confirmato engine loading. |

MPVGoddess: is it possible to retrofit a 7 seater Sienna to become an 8 seater Sienna with factory seating including seat belts.
Asking because 7 seater Siennas are the rage, and 8 seater Siennas are as difficult to find as a needle in a haystack! They're not too difficult to find. Locate a sienna CE. That's an 8 seater. |

IDSP: Hi, I have a lexus rx300 2003 model; 1. the catalysts got expired and become very red after a drive. I got them change. The sound of the exhaust change from normal cool sound to something very heavy. The nozzles and injectors serviced, plugs change yet heavy and uncomfortable sound persist in the exhaust, what is the solution? 2. If I drive upto 100 to 120 the speed break and later pick up again. I went for scanning and it shows cylinder 2,4,6 misfire, what might be the cause and what is the solution?
Can fellow motorists help out? Your Location? |

dumo1: Japanese cars have been known to be very unstable at high speeds and you can't compare German car with a Japanese vehicle. They are always miles apart. Not the Japanese vehicles I've driven. Every vehicle designed for European and American Market today must meet or surpas a stringent requirement before its deemed safe for users. Suspension setups, drive setup, tyre specs, chassis load characteristics are all integral aspects to be considered when considering speed character of a car. I still repeat, Japanese cars are speed capable too. |

dumo1: E be like say heaven dey call ur name, with all those Christmas lights on (check engine light, ABS light etc.) you were still able to hit 260km/hr. Try that in a Japanese car and tell me if you would have even been alive to take those pics. A japmobile will do that speed with same risk as posed by a German car. The only issue is that the driver must have had a death wish. |

Car Talk › Re: Convertible Cars, Safe Or Not? by kingreign(m): 4:51pm On Apr 11, 2016 |
InvertedHammer: / [b]None of those things mentioned will spare a life in a roll over in Nigeria. I owned an Slk320 and later SL500. At the dealership and even the vehicle manual, they emphasized the risks involved in driving a convertible especially the hardtops and safety myths. those long oral and written sermons are as a result of health and safety considerations, i know cars have all sort of warning notices as a legal means to protect manufacturers in event of crashes from drivers or environmental errors. But i know convertible cars are safer than you think they're. All the added features you mentioned were attempts to keep customers happy and keep fatality low. Think about airbags. In fatal collisions, they are useless. i have been saved by using my seatbelt 2 times in my old carina 2 liftback. First crash was the car lost control on high speed, went over a flyover and landed in a deep drainage below. NHSTA and NCAP arent silly to conduct crash tests in real life situations and in controlled environments. A convertible with all the safety gizmo is safe, but without use of safety device, occupants could be killed in even an SUV (talking about Late Mr Ocholi's case). I am sure they have safety features but to be driving it in Nigeria requires extra planning.
One instance of a roll over will be speeding down the interstate and a pothole or bump appears from no where. Nigeria roads are good for reinforced SUVs that the owners intend to drive within or a little over 100km/hr. \ |

InvertedHammer: / Not safe in Nigeria.
1. In rollover, you will be decapitated if top is down. If top is up, the frame is not sturdy enough to prevent head injury and the consequent intracranial hemorrhage.
2. You are an easy target for robbers in traffic.
3. No knowledgeable mechanic/electrician to fix the convertible mechanism when it fails.
4. If conversion fails during rainy season, goodluck if you are on the road (although Mercedes do have manual override). Etc. \ all/most convertibles have roll bars either permanently up or that automatically comes up when the top is removed or when the car senses an imminent roll over. Besides, the A pillar holding the windshield is harder than standard non convertibles to further withstand crushing impacts. Also, due to lack of B pillars and fixed roof structures, convertibles have most of its weight and structural rigidity aids down to ensure a lower centre of gravity. Finally, airbags, seatbelts and the likes have made convertibles safer than imagined. |

blackfm: I have a situation please, my radiator cap was opened for top up this morning an I forgot to cover it after. The car was driven from ajah to Lekki and back for church. Was heading to the mainland frm ajah about 1hr ago when I noticed the temperature gauge was in the red zone so I parked. That's when I saw I didn't replace the radiator cap and its lost. I topped up with water and continued my trip keeping an eye on the temp gauge. The gauge was in red again when I was on carter bridge but it went back to normal while I was looking for a safe sport to park. Same thing happened like 4 times before I got to home. What does the gauge fluctuation mean? Should I be worried? NB: radiator cap will be replaced tomorrow close your eyes lets say a prayer. Dear Lord, help blackfm, his car should not develop cracks or warped cylinder. At worst case scenario, may it only be the gasket that's burnt. Amen. |

MPVGoddess: Toyota AWD on the Sienna is part-time, only works when it senses loss of traction at the rear.
Van is really heavy, with careful driving on the FWD one can still manage without and avoid unnecessary expense and complexity.
Without all of these issues one can get a sienna for around $2,000 to $2,500, with this long shopping list, we are looking at $5,000 and more per vehicle, great deal for a $35,000 vehicle when brand new Not the Toyota Sienna AWD systems I know. |
