anomimi,

I do not canvass for military style dispensation of justice but at the same time I expect the govt to become serious with stopping corruption.
The govt is def insincere with deregulation. It is a case of political office holders trying to wrestle slush funds from greedy business men i.e markerters so to provide more funds for looting by politicians. Both sides do not have genuine concern for the common man.
PoliticsRe: Occupy Nigeria: Armed Police Attack Protesters At Night In Kano by Kinikini: 9:59am On Jan 05, 2012
This demonstrations should include demand to review cost of governance in Nigeria. It is absolute shame that there are too many political office holders contributing nothing to Nigeria and yet on high remunerations. Despite they still steal heavily from the govt coffers.
This democrazy is laughable. I have never seen where a political elite is so fabulously rewarded for so much incompetency. From Aso Rock to common councellors, it is same high remuneration for unpardonable incompetency.

So terrible.

GEJ should demand performance from security chiefs or sack em all and replace with more competent people.

If you really believe the same Boko Haram that cannot write a proper sentence in english is the same one carrying out these bombings (Just because they are eager to claim responsibility- probably in hopes of their own amnesty and cash settlement) then I say the original perpetrators of these dastardly acts surely got you all where they want you!

Thinks so too.

These guys are doing so much damage to the image of Islam. May they be brought to justice soon.

It appears we all are acting out the strict to blow up Nigeria.

BH and its alqaeda or whoever runs the show there decides to pit us against one another like Muslims against Xtians, North against South, Hausas / Fulanis against North Minority, etc by the model use in Iraq. Different ethnic / Identities will take up arms against the perceived oppressors and the whole country will go up in flame. And here we are, all working to help them to achieve this by attacking ourselves and people who are themselves victims of the current systems.

I will think we need to tread softly on how we abuse innocent people. If the govt will live up to its responsibility, the killings would have been averted. It was reported that intelligence report have mentioned this attacks and govt still fail to stop the attack.

Islamic scholars condemn Xmas day bombings
On December 27, 2011 · In News | 12:50 amTweet

Kano—Islamic scholars in Kano have condemned the bomb attacks in churches around the country on Christmas Day.

The scholars described the attacks as “inhuman and wicked.”

Sheik Muhammad Isa described the attack as “unfortunate and heartless,” adding that that no worshiper should be attacked at a place of worship, especially on holy days.

He said the attackers were not adherents of any faith as no true believer could cause such harm to innocent people.

Sheikh Usman Saif, another cleric, said God would not spare the bombers “for using a religious period to shed blood and upset people.

“How can a person or a group of people, who believe in God hurt people at such a period when people were praying to their God?”

He urged the government to step up security measures.

… lawmaker, too
By Tina akannam
Dutse—Senator Danladi Sankara, representing Jigawa North Central in the National Assembly, yesterday, condemned the Christmas day bombings in some parts of northern states of the country, describing the perpetrators as wicked Nigerians opposed to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led government.

Sankara, however, appealed against reprisal attacks in other parts of the country.

He said: “There is no doubt that the unfortunate blasts on Christmas day were targeted at innocent worshippers to provoke Nigerians against the leadership of the ruling party.

“These acts are condemnable in every sense of it.”[/b]

Tell me how this is going to stop BH? Whether Sultan speaks out or not, BH will stay if the govt does not act decisely.
PoliticsRe: Sultan Decries Lack Of Unity Among Muslims: Fooolish Sultan by Kinikini: 9:41am On Dec 27, 2011
@homerac7

Since Jonathan's incompetence is a done deal and we now look at the Sultan to stop BH? Can we hand the authourity to act to the Sultan if your logic will have substance. Please read through the statement credited to sultan at the begining of this post. Please read below what the Sultan said about violence in this same post.

''Speaking on extremism and violence in the country, he said Islam was never in support of those who use violence to achieve their aims. aims.''

I also know the Sultan have on many occaasions spoken out against violence, terror and extremism. Like babaearly said, has any of the haters here risen to support the families of those have been gunned down by BH for speaking out against the group. If the Sultan fears for his life, would you advise him to speak out so loud as to be targetted and killed if he were your father? You want him to be bold but how many of the posters here are bold to come out to participate in peaceful rallies? The oil subsidy rallies are may be coming, how many of you are ready to show the bravery you ask the Sultan to do?

I insist our way to finding end to terror lies not with the Sultan but the authority empowered to protect our lives and properties. As long as we don't demand performance from such people and allow our passion, age long bias and sentiment to erode our reasons, we will be in the same unprogressive spot.
PoliticsRe: Sultan Decries Lack Of Unity Among Muslims: Fooolish Sultan by Kinikini: 9:14am On Dec 27, 2011
Honestly folks,

How can a call for unity among muslims be regarded as a call for BH? Incredible.

Why not direct your anger at the right authority you invested the responsiblity to protect you. I gues the beaf and Leomax will be smiling that the Nigerian fools again fell for religious bigotry and ddeflected the heat from their principal. Blaming people who have no authority to solve our problems for the problems is totally myopic.

22 Million Nigerian gave GEJ the mandate to protect the lives of Nigerians. If he is not delivering, why can't we demand performance? When are we going to be objective in Nigeria.

Quote from @bayooooo

"Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection." Quar'an 9:29

This is a age long hypocrisy. You have quoted out of context to justify your myopic view / stereotyping of Islam.  Much as you guys may derive joy in bashing muslims for the sins of a few bad eggs, do not ignore the fact that hatred only breed further hatred.  Islam does not support taking of innocent lives and terror.
There are good muslims all over the world and I wonder why you guys cannot look beyond the bad and appreciate positive contributions of good muslims.
At a time in the history of xtianity, wars were waged in the name of the cross in Europe and innocent people were killed. Xtianity has outlived this and Islam certainly will.
PoliticsRe: Sultan Decries Lack Of Unity Among Muslims: Fooolish Sultan by Kinikini: 5:43pm On Dec 26, 2011
Nigerians never cease to get it wrong on issues despite a belated high self perception.

Sultan has condemned terror many times yet it did not stop. Whose responsibility is it to secure lifes in this country? Sultan / govt? Do you blame Oritsejafor for the sins of all xtians or suppose xtians? If there is proper policing in this country leading to the arrest of the true boko haram, whatever the sultan says will be inconsequential. You guys flogging the eminent sultan are reacting to govt failures and not to the sultan's statement.
Let us learn to be objective as spewing hates will only worsen our already fragile unity.
We need common sense from the leadership and followers to turn things round in this country. More importantly, the Nigeria belongs to Muslims, xtians and others and we should not push ourselves to another Rwandan / somalia .

To the

beaf, leomax , I say when the law of karma will one day apply. Those who refuse to do justice for whatever reasons best known to them will reap injustice at the most time unimagined.

GEJ has failed woefully.

Must the political class inflict more pain on the masses while they continue in the culture of waste and looting? Sambo budgeted $20M for travels and stationery, food allocation for state house $1B and lots of other waste. GEJ continue to increase SA who have nothing to offer yet increasing cost of governance but he is quick to remove subsidy.

If this is the way he knows how to help the masses, then he can as well keep his help. He should cut down drastically govt waste.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Praised By Imf Chief Christine Lagarde by Kinikini: 1:46pm On Dec 20, 2011
IMF policies have never helped a developing nation. Brazil jettisioned the IMF policies and recorded growth.
If IMF praises GEJ, then they know he is doing their bidding to keep Nigerian underdeveloped.  Europe and US have got no where else to sell their expensive and obsolete labour and product to other than Africa with the recent rise of Asian Tigers.

Remember David Cameron asked GEJ to increase NIG,s trade with UK ten times on reason being that UK fights for good governance and human rights in Africa unlike China. So the comparative cost advantage of China should be ignored on moral grounds. Yet the West still receive loots from political office holders especially Nigeria.

If GEJ follows this IMF, he is bound to fail.

The solution to our problems lies with us in using our God given intelligence and stopping corruption. Do we need IMF to tell us we need to revive Agriculture to create employment ? Do we need IMF to tell us we need to plug loopholes and drain pipes in govt coffers and use the money to build refineries and provide facilities generally?
Do we need IMF to improve the quality of our education and technical skills to domestic the huge sums paid to expatriates snatching jobs Nigerians should do?

The list is endless.
Funnily, the west laugh at our leaders for foolishly swallowing these stupid IMF/World Bank conditions hook line and sinker.

May God deliver us from foolish and ignorant leadership worst greedy.

In the UK, you have to pay for a parking slot in your workplace.

If they can guarantee judicious use of the money, and the road is well looked after, you gotta pay, guys. That's the way it is. You have to embrace development.
What joy do you derive from driving a 25 million naira car on a road that is riddled with pot holes?

What joy does a Naija rich man derive in flying first class only to get to Lagos and drive the whole stretch of road called the 3rd Mainland Bridge without street lights? Which is more dangerous? Class of flight or a dangerous road? It seems crazy and stooopid.

I am sorry.

If it is so easy to survive in Nigeria most of the diaspora like OLA ONE will be here. Your comment shows you are yet to grasp the core of this matter. We at Lekki axis mind you not Lekki Phase one resident only because the resident spreads from Lekki Phase one to Epe wants development. But we do not want slavery.  A govt that collects huge Personal Income Taxes from my work, and insist I pay to go to that work on a road that have been in existence before the govt. The rate of tolling  and the yrs of concession are outrageous . This is the only road to our abode and should we not at least enjoy the benefit of our taxes? What else have the taxes done for us on this axis? There are no schools, no hospitals, we provide our own water, our electricity. Can you pay 25000 just to go to work maybe after paying $500 - $1500 as Personal income tax without benefit?

Some comments here are really saddening.

The head of Lagos tax collection body spent whooping sums on daughter's wedding without any legitimate means to explain the source. A case of the elite in power stealing taxes dry and asking the regular hardworking class to cough out more to steal on Lekki axis.

Humnmmm na wah oo. I doubt if you live in lagos at all? This is a common sight on Lagos Road. Did you see the STV Report at all? Showing about 7 Buses loaded with boys reffered to as "LASU Students" arriving at the protest point with cheers from some of them. The Protest did not go violent until the "LASU" student showed up. Meanwhile, None of the Media Houses reported Thugs with any evidence. In this age of technology and telecoms advancement in Nigeria how will thugs come to distrupt a protest and nobody could record any convincing picture either motion or still. Couldn't this picture be that of the so called LASU student when they were leaving?
Wetin LASU students with Tolling of Lekki Expressway?

The burden of Convincing Evidence behoves on the people that made any allegation!!! QED

2AMLASGIDI,

It is left for you to believe or not. I force nobody to believe my post. But mind you, I was at the protest and I saw these people myself. They were not the LASU boys that were part of the protest. Inside the bus was also a ACN flag apart from the NURTW flag openly displayed when the protesters were being assaulted.

I am not a politician just a hardworking Nigerian that will be affected by this ACN slavery on the resident.
