FamilyRe: Please Help, My Wife Wants To Leave Me by kiwibabe(f): 9:58am On Sep 15, 2006
@ lioness

Thats exactly what I was trying to say, he needs to be a man and step up at the end of the day, his wife should not have to carry all the responsibilities, giving him free time to mess around.
FamilyRe: Please Help, My Wife Wants To Leave Me by kiwibabe(f): 7:46am On Sep 15, 2006
You lot are all missing a very big VITAL part of the story.

Bolarge55 mentioned that his wife carried him through his troubled times, when he was broke, see the quote below.

"to the extent of providing for me financially at times when I was really broke. Infact, she’s the reason that I was able to get a job in the States."

I do not know about you guys but me personally, the idea of supporting a man makes me feel that the man is not man enough to handle his shit. There is an extent to which a woman should and can help you. As a man you should rely on yourself, I can see there are issues of respect in this relationship, how can a woman respect someone she has been carrying, I would get fed up aswell and then on top of that you add lies to the equation, there is only soo much that a real woman can take. Your wife has reached breaking point, you need to step up and prove that you are the man she married.
TravelRe: UK Or US: Your Preference And Why? by kiwibabe(f): 1:56pm On Aug 31, 2006
Helloo People I can not believe this thread is still going on.

I do not know what you people's problems are, "the UK is just a small country comapared to the USA. The UK is also a iny compared to the rest of the world.

Why don't you compare your opinions to the rest of Europe or Asia, even Australia etc, of course America will out weigh England, there are only soo many people to live in each, and I think many of your opions are biased. Have you actually travelled or lived in any other country other than the UK or USA. DO you actually remember that there is a big world out there.

I would just like to point out that the saying "'different strokes for different folks'' until you actaully lived somewhere do not knock the country. I am very proud of the UK and what they have achieved and as a reslut of being a citizen of the country I can tell you that I have never lacked in anything and have nevered suffered in anyway including from poverty. I thank my parents for a good upbringing and a godd education, and I thank my lucky stars for being in a civilised society.

I am free to do as I please and travel anywhere I please.

I am actually living in Amsterdam right now and I hate it. I can not wait to return to the UK.

Do you people even know what is going on in the world, there is hatred everywhere especially towards us blacks, the developed world is not our home. Why don't we use the knowledge that we have gained from the developed world and go away and improve our own societies.

Mine happened on public transport, the packed tubes in london you know at rush hour, as I stood up to get off the trainn someone thiefed my beloved D600 from my pocket. I hadn't realised until I got off the train. Upset and with my dismay my friends and family started ringing me at home that evening, they insisted that a man that had found my phone and wanted to give it back to me, thanking my lucky stars I was soo happy that there were honest people in the world. I rang my phone for days until one day the thief finally answered, he starting questioning me, asking me stupid questions like how much my phone was worth to me as I could afford such a nice phone, he kept on trying to get £200 for it. I thought why should I pay for a phone which was free to me when I signed a contract, so I locked the phone off. The thing was my insurance cover for the phone had just expired a month earlier so me thinking that I was being clever decided not to renew it and what for my phone upgrade. Like an idiot I guess.

PoliticsAfrica An External Military Base Of The Usa by kiwibabe(op): 4:01pm On Jul 19, 2006
In a random discussion with some of my work collegues it was suggested that africa is gradually becoming the external military base of the usa ,nigeria included,

How true is this, and to what extent.

This is very disturbing, as to my knowledge if a country has financial resources such as oil and is not in the good books of the western super powers and is not abiding with their rules , such a counrty is a bad investment plan because the west will go to war with it eventually and underrmine the very fabric of that economy.
What is your intake on this matter?
PoliticsUk Returns Stolen Assets To Nigeria by kiwibabe(op): 7:48pm On Jul 18, 2006
According to the foreign and commonwealth office,

http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&cid=1007029391638&a=KArticle&aid=1152525750014

UK RETURNS STOLEN ASSETS TO NIGERIA (10/07/06)

The UK's Minister for Africa, Lord Triesman, welcomed the announcement on 6 July of the return of almost £1 million in stolen assets to the Federal Government of Nigeria under the UK's Proceeds of Crime Act (2002). The Minister said:

'The UK is meeting its commitments under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, identified as a priority by the Commission for Africa and the Gleneagles G8 Summit a year ago. We will continue to work with African countries to tackle corruption and return stolen assets. Hilary Benn's appointment on 22 June as the UK Ministerial Champion for addressing international corruption and the establishment of a dedicated team for investigating international corruption and money laundering should allow us to do this even more effectively.'

Notes

The £988,273 handed to the Nigerian High Commission in London on 6 July was seized by the Metropolitan Police in London in September 2005 after the arrest of Mr Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, the then Governor of Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The Metropolitan Police applied to the courts for the cash to be forfeited under the Proceeds of Crime Act and their application was granted by Stratford Magistrates Court, London on 26 May 2006. Solicitors acting for the Nigerian High Commission in London applied to the court for the forfeited money to be returned to the Government of Nigeria and that request was also granted.

I have never heard of this story (news) before, what are your thoughts an opions.

HOW DO YOU THINK THEY SPEND THIS MONEY!!!!

How To Get Wi-fi Internet Access On A Laptop

I have a laptop which when I brought it two years ago I was told that it had wireless internet, yet I do not know how to work it, could someone tell me how I can store or access wi-fi internet on my laptop, or explain to me what I need to do e.g. Do I need to pay for it or something. It would be very much appreciated.

Better still can someone explain to me how wi-fi works. I have no idea about technology at all.

FoodRe: Do You Eat In Public? by kiwibabe(f): 1:40pm On Jun 20, 2006
I eat especially on public transport, many of the times Im on the train, in a closed environment I let the food waft up and down the carriage, people would just stare, some licking their lips. That way you knew they were hungry.

Trust me if I am hungry I will eat. Just try stop me.

FoodRe: Which Maggi Do You Prefer For Cooking? by kiwibabe(f): 1:08pm On Jun 20, 2006
I love the jumbo maggi powder that you get over in the UK. it comes in many flavours such as prawn, beef, chicken etc, I think it is great as the powder last a long time and you get to measure your own quantity for use in foods.

I also like to use knorr cubes when making moi moi as they dissolve easily, and do not leave yellow maggi lumps in you r food.

@mikun

Ok, all kidding aside, I'm not saying it's a big deal. I'm just saying that both partners can submit both their checks to the family piggy bank. If it's not a "big deal" that should "break marriage" why doesn't your husband submit his check to you? But perhaps you've never asked. . .perhaps he can't speak on it until he has a husband of his own for vaildation. lipsrsealed
I do not believe we should put both our pays into a joint a/c that leads to greed and you having to account for ever single penny you spend. (basically you have to ask permission from your partner, and if he's a tight ass git, you wont be getting sh*t) do you get my point. I believe you should both only put in equal amounts to cover stuff like bills and children if you have them.

IAH:
For me, my parents gave us weekly pocket money so I'm going to give my children too. It's really good and makes you accountable, that's how to quickly discover traits of extravagance in your child and nip it in the bud before it's full blown - when you let them handle money of their own.
Very True!!!
Christianity EtcRe: Being Nice vs. Telling The Truth by kiwibabe(f): 8:06pm On Jun 15, 2006
I would start off with the sentence, the food is wonderful but,
it has a bit to much salt,
too much pepper,,
or its a bit overcooked,
or undercooked, and not to my taste,

I would try not to comapre the cooking to someone else's, but I would bring up in conversation something on the lines of my Mum made the best ever, (depending on what the meal is) in the world.

and hopefully the cook will not take it too offensive, but I would have gotten my point accross without repeatedly offending. (I WOULD DEFINATELY THINK BEFORE I SPOKE)

Yeah why does my pc with xp operating system shut down anytime i am installing some new softwarehuh
Could you please elaborate. Does your system shut down when it is not in use, or when your in the middle of doing something, do you open a lot of files at the same time, Please explain as there could be a number of reasons. Usually they have easy solutions such as my laptop shuts itself down when it is not in use, all that is needed is to adjust a few settings. Sometimes when I download big files they become corrupt and the laptop exits all applications and shuts itself down.

babadee:
Paying your kids for chores is not right because it might lead them into believing that being paid for work done in the house is their right and you'll wake up one day to see your shoes not ploished and your car not washed until you pay the arrears you owe.
Thats a load of bull. Paying your kids encourages them to fend for themselves and stand on their own two feet at an early stage in life. I think it is a very responsible thing to do.

I agree with you 110% kiwibabe, my money is mine, his money is ours
Thank you Girl!!!

If we are going to keep looking good for our men, we need finance, and if he doesnt want to pay up we can rely on ourselves. You know. Do the independant women thing.

Therefore we are still allowing the men in our lives to be in charge like they always feel they should, and support his family.

I would never give my husband my paycheck.

Our rules upon engagement was that.

My money was my money, His money was also mine. Well thats how I put it.
FamilyRe: Would You Pay Your Children For Chores They Do? by kiwibabe(f): 2:57pm On Jun 13, 2006
Well my parents paid us, sort of like a weekly pocket money, if we kept the house in tip top shape, I felt this was great as it not only taught us to clean up after ourselves, it taught us to respect our property. I will definately use this method with my children. I do not think it effected us negatively because we learned the value of money at an early age, so we knew if we wanted something out of our parents reach we should save the money we got especially for a rainy day.
REMEMBER NOTHING IS FOR FREE.

ALL HAIL MY PARENTS, I HAVE SOO MUCH RESPECT FOR THEM!!!!
