commoditiesnig:How can it be a victory for democracy when the Supreme Court merely reasserted, as it did during the Buhari regime, the Constitution, highlighting the unconstitutional conduct of state governors who dip their hands in the LG account? ![]() I don't understand you people. The Constitution is clear on the officers to decide on how the money in the LG accounts should be distributed — the National assembly and state assemblies are involved; the Governor has no say or authority at all in this. Your governors are guilty of violating the very Constitution on which the country and states and local governments are founded. Why do you not react by suing them? Why do you not react by calling for their immediate impeachment? Why do you not react at all? This ruling by the Supreme Court will not cause anything to happen because, for something to, the people have to step forward and demand it. ![]()

Melagros:Pay attention to what your constitution says which is in fact what the Supreme court merely reasserted. ![]() All governors implicated should be impeached and put in jail abeg! ![]()
|
1stHooligan:Control? So long as it contravenes the constitution, it is unlawful and someone should be punished for it. ![]() |
gtown:Don't be deceived. The Supreme Court said the same thing during the last administration, and all it did was reassert the Constitution which clearly states that the account belongs to the LGs and not the Government. The distribution of the money to the various LGs are determined by decisions at the National and State assemblies. The Governors are not meant to access the account or even have a say in how it should be distributed. ![]() James Ibori and every other Governor who dipped their hands into the Local Government account stole money that they had no authorization whatsoever to touch and that is a crime against the people. It shouldn't be the president suing the governors but the electorates. ![]()

Melagros:Stop saying these things abeg! All the Supreme Court has done, something it did back during the time of Buhari, and again this time as well, is reassert the Constitution which clearly states that the account in question belongs to the LGs and as such Governors have no permission to access for any reason. ![]() Essentially, all of your governors who have ever dipped their hands into the LG accounts did so in violation of the constitution — they stole from the Nigerian people. They are criminals and are best impeached and made to serve time for such violations by the electorates. ![]() |
Codes151:How can you "advocate" for something that is clearly stated in your Constitution though? No be mumu be that? ![]() |
zikmano:They did not oppose it. Rather they used 419 to rob you all! ![]() |
dre11:Lies! The governors who had dipped their hands into the LG accounts are rogues and should be sued for doing exactly that. All the Supreme Court did was re-assert the Constitution on this issue highlighting the unconstitutionality of the conduct of said governors. ![]() |
olarent:The Supreme court ruling simply reasserted the Constitution in this case. So why would it want to scrap SIEC when SIEC is not the problem? ![]()
|
AMKAG66:Nonsense! ![]() |
ggood:There is nothing like good development since the Supreme Court merely reasserted the Constitution in this so-called ruling. This has all been a farce as there is no "LG Autonomy". ![]() |
LordIsaac:The supreme court merely reasserted the fact of the Constitution which is that the LG accounts belonged to the government at the LG level without addressing this LG autonomy idea. ![]() |
deji17:What are you talking about? Actualize what exactly? The Constitution? ![]() |
Zxcvbnmghtr:Stop rambling, abeg! ![]() |
kkins25:I don't need to click the link since you said it yourself the site was taking down or changed in response to what happened this week. That Google info there at least informs you that WISE had been operating in the open for at least 2 years(since 2022). ![]() |
Zxcvbnmghtr:That is the typical Nigerian mumu excuse, abi? Do nothing but expect miracles! That na instead the way, right? ![]()
|
hafeeanubasy:Welcome to Nigeria! That is in fact what has been happening all of this while. The zombie people stand back and watch their governors humiliate and pillage their accounts, and they do nothing about it. This so-called ruling was merely a reassertion of the Constitution. It is up to the people to decide whether they will allow their elected officials to continue with business as usual or not. ![]() |

deji17:A Landmark ruling on an issue that should not have been an issue to begin with? I mean the constitution is clear on the fact that the accounts in question were to be accessed at the LG level. ![]() |
Sonnobax15:There was no judgement and there was no autonomy discussed in all of it. Na useless big grammar dem use confuse the masses here. All the court did was reassert the constitution which has always held that the accounts in question belonged to the LG and not the Governors or even the Federal. ![]() |
spiSeyi:What you are asking for has absolutely nothing to do with what happened this week though. It had nothing to do with LG autonomy. Rather, it was an attempt to excuse the many excesses of governments up till now where it concerns LG accounts when in fact the Constitution since 1999 has been clear that the accounts in question belong only to the LG, not Governors. What this means is governors who have been accessing those accounts have done so illegally. ![]() |
spiSeyi:Which LG autonomy abeg? What the heck do you understand by the term LG autonomy? These rogues are lying to you all. ![]() |
Advocating for something spelled out in the Constitution since the beginning? LG Autonomy or illegal accessing of funds set aside by the Constitution for explicit Local Government use by Governors? This whole thing sounds like 419 abeg! I would rather all the governors who ever dipped their hands into the LG accounts be sued for what is unconstitutional and essentially theft. ![]() These governors are rogues who dipped their hands into accounts that they were not authorized to touch at all. So why this stewpid charade for Pete's sake! ![]() |
kkins25:Do a Google search to find out how long Wise.org had been operating openly in the area. We are talking of an organization that claims to have been working with HISBAH police to sensitize the people in these areas about the needs and rights of even those in the LGBTIQ community. Dandaudas are not new or hidden in Kano. They have been a part of the scene in much of haisas land for a long time now. ![]() |
millionaireman:The last time states were created in Nigeria under military rule, the people didn't have a voice. This time the people have a voice and will have themselves to blame if they stand by and watch these criminals masquerading as political leaders carve up there local governments into states as they like. ![]() |
ejieddy:Don't merely rant about it online. Go to your senators and register your grievances with them. Call on others in your local government and get them together do the very same. Call other people in other local governments to let them know they can do the same. The sponsors of the bill have no right to force this on the people. However, if the people do nothing, nothing will change. ![]() |
Sapasenator:Plenty people full asylum wey dey speak with same authority. 🥱🥱🥱 |
Sapasenator:🙄🙄🙄 You dey mind these crazy people! |
Ojiofor:This conversation more than proves me more competent than you. ![]() |
Felabrity:The sponsors of those bills are politicians after all, out to create opportunities to further impoverish their own people with by way of the new states. ![]() |
Ojiofor:I already told you, that you are not smart enough to pretend yourself a representative of any region, particularly the South Easterners. Many of them that I know of are higher on the intelligence scale than people like you could ever dream of and they know better than spew this nonsense you have on this thread. ![]() |
