■ Daily Trust gathered that the attackers had wanted to abduct one Mustapha Hamza who is a casual staff of the hospital on duty at the time, but he luckily escaped but unfortunately his wife, who accompanied him to the hospital, was abducted in the process.
“Mustapha is an anastasia nurse and he was on call at the time to attend to a woman who would undergo a surgery.
“Usually, his wife would follow him when ever he is called because she would not be comfortable staying back home alone. And that was how she fell victim in the attack,” a source who craved anonymity said.

Kurfi was hitherto more or less a fortified town as bandits hardly gained access due to activities of local vigilante group supported by some well-to-do members of the community.
However, that fortification was broken with the collapse of the vigilante group, with some residents blaming it on political differences of some highly-placed individuals in the area.
Not long ago, a nursing mother was abducted with her twin children and the third one who is not more than four years old.
A resident of Kurfi told Daily Trust that the mother and twin children were released by their captors after the payment of N3.5m.
However, the young boy, fondly called AK, is still in captivity as the bandits have asked for an additional N1.5m for his release.
Another resident of Kurfi blamed some of the recent attacks on informants who migrated to the town when it was safer.
This is Katsina State where Buhari, the former president of Nigeria, lives, abi? He swallowed so much in Nigerian loot— him and his fellow politicians— yet his state remains impoverished and insecurity as it is. His successor even promised to continue from where he left off guaranteeing the people of Katsina will know no peace from bandits and terrorists.... sad

■ Seems you love to talk and listen to your voice even when you didn't have the facts...
Nigeria having men of your calibre is the reason why it is messed up... because you follow your emotions and hate those who you ought to employ and employ those who have no business in government. Just imagine your cock and bull story about security. Are you normal? Bandits running down Nigeria now is because Tinubu and IGP have no meaningful relationship abi? Pity yourself...
■ Salary is a BIG THING because those before him didn't pay and those after him owed too except him...Medical? You didn't see anything? You won't see because I understand how difficult life is for the blind...and I am not ready to show you. On Sports...why didn't they discover and groom boys before him and why has that culture died again after succeeding governments didn't show interest? You need some reformatting...Road? Obi wasn't a trailblazer according to you...and I won't argue. Facts remain facts irrespective of what propagandists say or manipulations they do...Peter Obi did more roads than anyone can imagine in the history of Anambra State...
■ Peter Obi is an enigma...and that explains why even in Soludo first year anniversary occasion; all the elites interrupted Soludo 's speech to give Peter Obi a standing ovation immediately he entered the hall... because as PSquare sang; NOONE LIKE YOU (Peter Obi)... he's in a league of his own.... Cf the video online... Replace Peter Obi with Soludo or another politician and everyone will ignore him except for sycophants
The context of this is 2007 - 2014 Anambra State when Peter Obi was Governor of the state. Last I checked Tinubu and bandits did not play a part in the scenario. So, I suggest you kindly stay in context and focus on the actual discourse.

2. I believe I made specific statements on all of this and stated specifically that you provide facts to back up the claims you made. By the way, I was here on Nairaland for that period that Peter Obi was governor of Anambra and I recall having critiqued his failure to stand out among the governors of that time too. I have a long history of Nairaland that will link to what happened in Anambra during all of that time. So, you are not talking to someone who merely came of age around the period of 2007-2014, so I suggest you do a better job of trying to back up these claims you continue to make. undecided

3. Again, he may be an enigma to you same way Tinubu is held up by those who worship him equally as such, but that does not remove from the fact that both men are clear examples of bad governance, tinubu more so since his record has now been made longer and more pronounced at the federal level due failure on the part of the Nigerian people who allowed him to remain in office to this day. undecided

Being an enigma to some DOES NOT make one an example of good governance. What it instead does is make even more pronounced the failures of such individuals to those who are not easily fooled by the shiny facade put forward by their worshippers mostly in a desperate attempt at whitewashing the image of their gods at all cost. undecided

PoliticsRe: Gov. Abiodun Fraudulently Parading My Rice Farm As World Bank Project - Farmer by Kobojunkieee:
Nonny95:
Gov. Abiodun fraudulently parading my rice farm as World Bank-assisted project belonging to Ogun - Farmer
A young farmer named Bello Zabarmawa has refuted the claims of Governor Dapo Abiodun and asserted that he is the owner of the 200-hectare rice plantation contrary to claims that the project was funded by Mr Abiodun’s administration with support from World Bank.
Last month, Mr Abiodun and his entourage including a crew of photographers and videographers, visited the rice plantation in Magboro in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.
The governor posed for pictures holding the harvested rice grains while his media team parroted claims that Ogun has joined states such as Lagos and Bayelsa to grow local rice, raising expectations among residents for rice to be available at affordable prices..

But Mr Zabarmawa, a special adviser to Kebbi State Governor, debunked the claim saying the rice farm was his project, according to PM News.
Mr Zabarmawa was notified of the rice plantation-friendly soil in Magboro after one of his associates, Haruna, visited the village in 2019.
Mr Zabarmawa arranged to disburse an interest-free loan to about 200 farmers to plant rice on one hectare.

Given it was an untilled ground, he hired bulldozers and other farming equipment to clear the land and prepare it for planting season.
But given it was an enormous expanse of the land and project that community members including the village monarch welcomed with joy, Mr Zabarmawa was encouraged to seek the government’s assistance.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

To be correct, is this the same rice farm https://www.nairaland.com/8190353/ogun-govt-earns-n1billion-revenue#131597983

■ Are you really comparing China and Nigeria, China can afford to peg their currency, due to their massive trade balance with the US.
Nigeria practically imports everything upto toothpicks, how can such a nation, with a massive demand for dollars, maintain an artificial rate? It's simply not possible. Nigerians need to face facts
Comparing ke? You are the one who claimed that propping up the value of the currency cannot be done or something and I merely pointed out that even China, itself still a developing country continues to peg the value of its currency. Nigeria is... well was a developing country like China until a couple of months ago. undecided

2. All the more reason why it should keep its currency propped up until such a time when it has sufficiently resolved that problem that it continues to struggle with. Removing that peg makes no sense as we now see with the economy nearly crippled since the act. Nigeria continues to export everything you mentioned now even more than before. Along with that, over 40 million Nigerians have been rendered into a state of multidimensional poverty with millions of businesses irreparably damaged by it all. So, what was the advantage gained from unpegging the naira? undecided

■ In transportation? Tracas, ANIDS came back to life...and road construction etc was at its peak...
■ Civil Service was revived and payments became timed...
■ Sports...Lots of present day sportsmen in Nigeria and those who nationalized elsewhere were discovered under him when he revived school sports competition etc
■ Medical? Our health system had some breathe of new life...Both government and lots of private especially mission owned health facilities received life and has been testifying till date...
■ What else? I wish Peter Obi happens to me in all facets of my life Unending...He may not be perfect but he's head and shoulder above our contemporary politicians... This testimony isn't about making you change your mindset but to let you count me as part of the statistics that experienced what good governance is which is alien in Nigeria... Having lived in about 5 different states in Nigeria; I am yet to see anyone near what Peter Obi did...Your propaganda against him won't change anything...
1. The only POSITIVE should ONLY come from learning that he did the job for which he was hired. I forgot to attach the following picture to my previous post. It is meant to give you an idea of how to properly assess the work done by your elected officers, in this case, an LG councilman. If the councilman were to fail in providing and maintaining the functions listed in the list provided(this comes from the Constitution of Nigeria mind you), then it would be safe to conclude that the councilman failed in his duties. undecided

Same applies as far as a governor... the list I had posted earlier includes much of that expected of governors of states. The funds are provided to them for the work and the salaries they pocket are meant as compensation for doing the work specified. So, when a governor fails to implement or maintain these things, such a government is considered a failed governor, and for good reason.

2. According to reports, the security improvement that you observed during the Obi times was due to the relationship that existed between the governor and the police State commissioner at the time. There is a record of this. So, the state itself did not provide security rather the mutual relationship formed helped the security personnel at the time do their work. undecided

3. Road construction in Anamabra was not at its peak during Peter Obi's time in office. This claim of yours is not based on facts. undecided

4. I have personally never understood why payment of staff is considered some sort of accomplishment by many. I mean the governor has to be paid, right? So it should be common sense that workers should also be paid on time. Anything other than this is a violation of the rights of the other employees of the state by the government. lipsrsealed

5. I don't understand. So, because they were discovered during the period that is 2007–2014 mean the Governor did it? Are you fk-ing with me or something? huh

6. I would need to see evidence of this claim of yours because I don't recall Peter Obi doing anything major in the HealthCare sector in Anambra State during his time as Governor there. undecided

7. It is OK for you to wish him in your life but the fact remains that NONE of the 21 LGAs in Anambra State at the time that Peter Obi was governor, and even after that, can boast of achieving development of the kind listed as the function of a State Governor throughout his time there in 2007-2014. You can't make these kind of things up. No amount of political whitewashing can make this fact go away! undecided

■ I backed it up by stating that I am not sure of the Nigerian law on minimum wage however, some state government pays below the minimum wage as such, unless a labor lawyer educate us, we cannot be certain.
■ You in your almightiness came to argue that any business who cannot pay the N70000 has no reason in business when some government cannot even pay it. This I responded to that the US allow some certain employers be exempted from the FLSA as such, they can pay below minimum wage.
Learn to be humble when you do not know things instead of acting you know it all. My last comment to you on this.
I posted a list of employers who are exempted by the FLSA in the USA and nowhere on that list are teachers included. undecided

1. Again, the minimum wage for all businesses in Nigeria is set at Naira 70,000. The only exemptions that exist under the The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024 which was recently amended are for those
6.Who is Exempted from complying with the new Minimum Wage?
All Employers are required to pay the new Minimum Wage to all workers as described above. The following employers are, however, exempted from complying with the Amendment Act:
► establishments where workers are employed on a part-time basis and paid on commission or piece rate (paid according to the quantity produced regardless of time);
► establishments with less than 25 employees;
► workers in seasonal employment such as agriculture, construction, tourism, etc;
► workers employed in vessels or aircraft to which merchant shipping or civil aviation laws apply.

So, it does not matter the location, the number of students, and all of those other ideas you have thrown out so far. undecided

2. That state governments have for so long violated the rights of the people without even so much as a peep from the people themselves DOES NOT in any way make right their acts nor serve as a valid reason for normalization of such injustice. undecided

3. Nigerians are not happy with being bilked of their right as far as pay is concerned. They are not happy that they are not being paid at least the minimum wage they deserve for even their efforts. asserting here that the status quo — the injustice — should be allowed to continue as is simply because it is Nigeria we are talking about is pure wickedness. undecided

■ Don't be in a haste to use just google when you can make reference to the department in charge. Here is the link to the department of labor website and you can see for yourself that some states have minimum wage below the Federal minimum wage and usually, employers with less than 50 employees are not subject to the FLSA.
https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/minimum-wage/state
You would have done a lot better to investigate those particular businesses that are not subject to FLSA instead of pretending that your initial claim somehow makes sense. undecided

Most employers are subject to the FLSA, but there are a few notable exceptions. For example, these employees will be exempt from FLSA minimum wage and overtime regulations:
► Employees at businesses with fewer than two employees
► Employees at businesses that have an annual revenue of less than $500,000 and who do not engage in interstate commerce[i]
► Railroad workers (covered instead by the Railway Labor Act)
► Truck drivers (covered instead by the Motor Carriers Act)
► Independent contractors and freelance workers (they’re not employees)[ii]
► Some agriculture workers
► Babysitters[iii]
► Newspaper delivery workers
► Apprentices
► Movie theater employees (specifically excluded)
Separately, there are some types of employees who may be exempt from some portion of the FLSA but work for an employer that is subject to the act. Most commonly, this applies to employees who fall under one of the overtime exemption categories:
► Administrative
► Executive
► Professional
► Computer
► Outside sales
► Highly compensated individuals
For employees who qualify for one or more of these exemption categories, the employer will not be required to pay overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek. They’re still subject to minimum wage obligations (except for the outside sales exemption), but typically, this is a nonissue because one of the requirements for most of these exemptions is that the employee must be paid a salary that is at least $684 per week.

Besides, why do you think the Private Entrepreneurs are saying Govt and Labour Leaders did nothing for Private Sector to follow the govt,in payment of the Newly agreed Small Scale.
Payments of Workers Salaries is based on the Workers Productity and assurances of Continuous Existence of the Organisation Not on you pay today ,no more business tomorrow!

You do. The Constitution in Nigeria works pretty much the same as it does in the U.S. and most other democracies. Federal Laws supersede State Laws and so on. To answer this question of yours, there are no states in America where the Federal minimum wage is flouted. undecided

Yes, state minimum wages can be lower than federal minimum wages:
Federal minimum wage is higher
↪When the federal minimum wage is higher than the state minimum wage, the federal minimum wage applies.
State minimum wage is higher
↪When the state minimum wage is higher than the federal minimum wage, the state minimum wage applies.
No state minimum wage
↪If a state doesn't have a minimum wage law, the federal minimum wage applies.
Some states have scheduled annual adjustments to their minimum wage, which are often based on a formula and occur around January 1st.
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) establishes minimum wage standards for full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in federal, state, and local governments.
That some states have yet to update their minimum wage acts at DOES NOT imply that they are in violation of the Federal Minimum wage. undecided

It's kind of similar to what people keep saying about Tinubu doing his best. Yes, many Nigerians are hesitant to call for his immediate impeachment at this point even with all the many reasons piled up over the last 16 months in favor of just that. ■ Dangote was just an exemple of those that gained from the former system. The bottom line is No nation can maintain an artificial value for its currency indefinitely. Sooner or later the currency needs to be allowed to find its true level.
There is nothing indefinite about what Nigeria had in place. Even China continues to peg its currency to its advantage to this day and no one knows when it intends to stop doing so. undecided

The definition of devaluing the Nigerian currency was a terrible one made by Tinubu. undecided

Hmm, you are right but remember this is Nigeria where things don't work. Take for instance I have the money to hire a lawyer and sue my employer for not paying me minimum wage, remember my employer might be connected and do you think the judiciary are not compromised? They can delayed the case till eternity.
There is actually a free legal aid group in Nigeria. Problem is not too many are aware of their existence and they only probably receive funds based on how many legal cases or issues they get, https://legalaidcouncil.gov.ng/

You are right that this is indeed Nigeria but in that same country, what is been learned is that when the people band together to fight for a cause, things work sort of like they do in other countries and climes. For instance, if you and other Nigerians are sick and tired of being bilked by your employers, you can all come together to make a formal complaint and take your issue to the courts to have these employers made to account for why they refuse to abide by the law. undecided

Again, it is up to the people to decide whether they have had enough of the same bullsheet. undecided

Well, I no blame that woman, you will be surprised to know that those kids cherish the sugarcane stick more than a laptop/tablet... Majority of the northerners are still living in the old world... Only few elites among them thinks reasonably...
Stop saying such nonsense! That is not true. angry
