PoliticsRe: Governor Uba Sani, Kaduna South Senatorial Zone And The Debate On Inclusion by Kobojunkieee: 1:43pm On Aug 14, 2024
Newsreel24:
GOVERNOR UBA SANI, KADUNA SOUTH SENATORIAL ZONE AND THE DEBATE ON INCLUSION
By Hon. Goje Yahaya Yarkasuwa
Between the appointments that end up benefiting only a few privileged individuals (narrowed down to their families and cronies) and initiating developmental projects that cut across all segments of society, which should be the yardstick for measuring the inclusion performance of a Governor?
It is the right of the people of Kaduna State for Governor Uba Sani to deliver development equitably across the 3 senatorial zones, 23 LGAs and 255 wards. However, in delivering the mandate, it is the Governor's exclusive prerogative to determine who he wants to work with.
Agreed, the 1999 constitution promotes the adherence to quota system in terms of inclusion, which the Governor has met in terms of geography, but there is nowhere that mandates the Governor to reserve a particular number for any of the religions or ethnic groups. Even if there is such a position, traditional worshippers (Yan Dodo) should be crying the loudest of marginalization.
The Governor met what quota system? Which one of the 23 LGAs in the state can boast of at least one of the following amenities or needs being met by their government that you would go as far as to declare that the governor has met the quota system stipulated in the Constitution?

■ Electricity
■ Clean Water Supply
■ Sewage
■ Good Roads(roads built by the ancient Romans thousands of years ago are still very much available to this day)
■ Passenger Rail
■ Security
■ Reliable internet and mobile services
■ Waste Management
■ Strong healthcare system
■sturdy educational & training System
■a Welfare/Social system...
The quota system is meant to benefit individual LGAs in the state, not further cripple them; the quota system was not set up merely to share positions among individuals from different roots in the state; it was established to ensure that resources that are divided up are effectively used and managed to the benefit of the all of the people. undecided

↪One way to voice out displeasure and ask for more accountability is protest and you and I know that the devil in government now sees protest as more deadly than terrorism. We have a completely failed system and nothing good can come out of this present arrangement. The rich will fight to keep their riches and the poor will kill themselves to prove their loyalty to the rich. So how then do we ask for accountability from our masters??
Recall these people were servants before the people sat back and allowed them to become masters over them. That is to say that there is still some power that lies with the people. There are about 774 LGAs and 36 States in all of Nigeria. The major power in these zones still belongs to the people and can be effectively used against the government — assuming the people with rally together in the majority. Nigerians are well within their right to
∎demand the recall of senators and reps both at the state
∎ demand by way of a petition to the senators and reps, the impeachment of either an LGA councilman, Governor, or even the president himself.
∎Protest the government as they did during the recently concluded #EndBadGovernance protests

That the government fights back is to be expected really since these politicians more or less see themselves as masters over the people. So, at this point, the people need to be ready to fight in order to take back what is theirs; it will not come to them easily. The fight already started during the last protest and it need not end there. undecided

PoliticsRe: Each Senator Earns N1m Per Month - Revenue Commission Says by Kobojunkieee: 1:14pm On Aug 14, 2024
ExAngel007:
The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal
Commission (RMAFC) has said that each of the
109 senators occupying legislative seats in the
red chamber earn ₦1,063,860 salary and
allowances per month.
In a statement released, the RMAFC chairman,
M. B. Shehu, said he needed to give the
clarification “in view of the recent statement
made by Mr. Shehu Sani, a former Senator of the
Federal Republic who was reported to have
disclosed to the public that each Senator collects monthly running cost of ₦13.5 M in addition to the monthly ₦750, 000.00 prescribed by the Commission”.

Shehu said RMAFC does not have the
constitutional powers to enforce compliance with the proper implementation of the remuneration package of lawmakers.
This lacuna is, however, being addressed by
the National Assembly,” he said The commission gave the breakdown of the salary and allowances of each senator as: Basic
Salary – ₦168,866:70; Motor Vehicle Fuelling and Maintenance Allowance – ₦126,650:00; Personal Assistant – ₦42,216:66; Domestic Staff - ₦126,650:00; Entertainment – ₦50,660:00;
Utilities – ₦50,660:00; Newspapers/Periodicals –
₦25,330:00; Wardrobe – ₦42,216,66:00; House
Maintenance – ₦8,443.33:00 and Constituency
Allowance – ₦422,166:66; respectively.

The RMAFC chief said some allowances are
regular while others are non-regular.

“Regular allowances are paid regularly with
basic salary while non-regular allowances are
paid as when due.

“For instance, Furniture allowance
(₦6,079,200:00) and Severance Gratuity
(₦6,079,200:00) are paid once in every tenure
and Vehicle allowance (₦8,105,600:00) which
is optional is a loan which the beneficiary has
to pay before leaving office,” he added.

Shehu said that aside from the president, vice
president, senate president, and speaker of the
House of Representatives, all public and
legislative officers are no longer provided with
housing, as was the case in the past.
RFMAC is yet another agency revealed as being against the Nigerian people it was supposedly set up to serve. When will the so-called hungry people of Nigeria decide it is better to die fighting to get their country back than die miserable out there somewhere? undecided

Basically, the people are there to fend for themselves after all, right? The government has in the last 25 consecutive years failed to provide the environment for the people and jobs to thrive. ↪What alternative would you propose ? Not sure its sustainable for government to provide free tuition
Still on the loan issue, according to reports, the Government's student loan problem expects to disburse a total of Naira 10 billion Naira in loans to students in universities across the country meaning that a majority of the students in the country, all of them equally deserving of the loans, would not be able to able to get their hands on it. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/720454-student-loan-nelfund-disburses-more-funds-to-nigerian-students.html

Anyways, as for the proposal, the major issue with the Nigerian school system remains the shoddy standard of education. So many are quick to assert that college students are expected to employ themselves after graduation, conveniently ignoring the fact that for the last 25 years, the Nigerian school system has majorly produced graduates incapable of either employing themselves or lacking minimum employment requirements for even entry-level graduate job market. I don't see how giving loans to students from already poor backgrounds when there are likely no jobs waiting for them after it all solves anything, either for the students themselves or for the nation as a whole. undecided

Some say these students are not being forced to take the true loan. Many of them are beyond desperate at this point and would take anything that presents itself to them. So does it make this the right thing? Is it right for the government to take advantage of the desperation of its people in this manner? Of course not! undecided

↪Whenever I see my fellow Obidients trying to brush aside Peter Obi partnership with Atiku, I always marvel. If Nigerians really want to dispose APC come 2027 then Obi must either partner with Atiku or step aside. Any ticket with Obi on it will be another long 4 years of APC and tinubu. This is not emotions but politics. Even tinubu will be praying against Atiku/Obi partnership because he stood no chance no matter the rigging. Right now the focus of Nigerians should be to remove APC in power. With this I'll advice Obi to either step aside or Partner with Atiku. As for me I'll prefer him stepping aside. man has really tried his best by being the only politician in Nigeria with zero corruption records. he's a multi billionaire and doing well for himself. besides he can still be president in the future because age is still by his side. The goal now is to remove APC from power because it's obvious that they're failed Nigerians. Obidients should understand that politics is not emotional. You can't want a better Nigeria and still enable tinubu for second tenure. You'll be contradicting yourself. I remain King Nebuchadnezar
Atiku ate the Vice President's salary for 8 years straight so he cannot say he is not part and parcel of the disaster that is Nigeria today.
