As for Sowore, I cannot fault him since he has not been a part of the tried, tested, and proven worthless group of politicians who have either been elected or been a part of the Nigerian political circle for the last 25 years, at least! The existence of the said refinery isn't the problem. The problem is that we have been told up until now that there is no working refinery in Nigeria. To now hear that this refinery has instead been waiting for crude supplies since 2022, even after it was announced earlier in the year that it had been supplied crude is what leaves me stumped. I don't know Sowore from a can of paint other than he runs Sahara Reporters and has been a vocal opponent of the corrupt establishment. He has at least accomplished that much in the way of a resume for himself. That is more than I can say of the rank of politicians that have been in office many of whom have never manufactured or created a single thing aside from leeching from the Nigerian government in one way or the other. Also, he has not occupied a political office in at least the last 25 years of Nigeria's democracy, more than the years before then, so to me, he has yet to sully himself with the system of corruption that is Nigeria.

Now, if you ask me if I would rather recycle a proven failure corrupt bag of failure Nigeria has had in the last 25 years, my answer is an absolute no! If you asked me whether I would be willing to take a chance on a complete novice who has not been tainted by all of Nigerian politics— never occupied any position in government —, my answer with yes. Now, if you asked me if I would be even more willing to take my chances on someone who is not only untainted by all of the mess that is Nigerian politics in the last 25 years but also understands what needs to be done at this point given the clear condition of things in the country and is willing to sign up as a declared servant of the people — taking on only those tasks that are to be benefit of the people of Nigeria(the ordinary Nigerian rather than the politicians and others goons), my answer would be absolutely Yes. The ERPCL representative, however, noted that despite these meetings, correspondences, and communications with NNPCL over the past three years on the issues of crude oil supply, nothing was done.
Besides, he identified other key issues encountered by the refinery, such as the inability of NNPCL to assign any of the preferred fields to allocate crude to the company since it started engagement with the management on August 18, 2021, pointing out that even with the options given to allocate crude to the refinery from ND Western, First Hydrocarbon, and Seplat, nothing has happened to date
