loswhite: lol but it is exactly what the civil servants will do. They will buy more than 1 bag…lol and sell. The policy doesn’t make sense in the first place. If you create arbitrage people will take advantage. It is that simple I checked the site on Monday and saw no mention of even the keyword Rice as of Tuesday morning, Nigerian time. But by Wednesday, the program had supposedly been canceled with the above reason given. How many civil servants can you confirm were able to buy that rice? |

Politics › Re: Civil Servants Buy 50kg Rice At N40,000, Resell At N85,000 – Rewane by Kobojunkieee: 4:55am On Aug 09, 2024 |
Bobloco: ↪ Bismarck Rewane, a popular economist and the Executive Director of Financial Derivatives has alleged that some civil servants bought 50kg bags of rice at N40,000 and resold it at N85,000. Rewane disclosed this on Thursday in an interview with Channels Television According to him, the price of rice which he described as a ‘Parallel market’ increased by 3.62 percent to N85,000 from 83,000 despite the government’s subsidized price of N40,000. “Our team went into the market Yesterday(Wednesday),… The price of rice coincidently went up by 3.62 percent to N85,000. This is happening at the time the federal government is selling rice to public servants at N40,000 per 50-kilogram bag. While in what I can now describe as the parallel market for rice stood at N85,000. What happens is that the civil servant will buy at N40,000 per bag and sell at N85,000, that is inefficient”, he said. This comes as the federal government on Thursday announced the suspension of the sale of 50kg bags of rice to civil servants at N40,000. These people are a bunch of fraudsters! This is rice that one Monday this government announced would only be available to civil servants and via a website. I checked the website on that day and searched for rice but came up with no results. Now today Thursday, still unable to purchase the rice, we are told the program has been shut down for some stewpid reasons. This government never planned to send the people rice to begin with. This was all part of Tinubu's many lies/frauds against the Nigerian people. |

adenigga: ↪ The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has said supplies from Nigeria-based world’s largest single-train Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals will put pressure on the performance of Europe’s oil industry, especially the Northwest Europe (NWE) Gasoil. OPEC in its newly released monthly Oil Market Report for June 2024 listed Dangote Refinery among the top Diesel and jet Fuel suppliers that will disrupt Europe’s oil & gas Industry, a development experts forecasted will positively impact the Nigerian economy. Recall that Standard & Poor Global quoting trading and the ship tracking sources had earlier predicted that Nigeria’s $20 billion Dangote refinery would shake up international crude flows when it reaches full capacity, having already made an impact since coming online in January, trading sources and ship tracking data show. [b]The OPEC report revealed that “Upside potential for higher production levels from Nigeria’s Dangote refinery, coupled with strong flows from the Middle East and new supplies from the Mexican Olmeca refinery, will likely exert pressure on NWE gasoil performance in the mid-term.” It stated further “Europe is one of the world’s largest purchasers of refined petroleum products and relied on imports from Asia and the US after the European Union banned the use of Russian diesel in the bloc. What Nigerian Media says and what OPEC in fact said.

ResidentSnitch: So what actually did Buhari do if he didn't tackle this particular Almajiri issue? Even their governors and LG councilmen in the North did absolutely nothing for a whole 8 years of the Buhari regime. Look at the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammed, for example. Today the man threw his name in the hat for the presidency in 2027 but this same man has been governor of Bauchi State for 5 entire years. In all of that time, he has done nearly nothing to reverse the determination of the Educational system in his State. ↪ Bala Muhammed was a Senator for the people of the South Senatorial zone in Bauchi State in the capacity of a senator under the party platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party [ANPP] from 2007 to 2010. He did nothing to help his people of Bauchi in terms of the actual development of the lives of the people. ↪ Bala Muhammed was appointed FCT Minister by GoodLuck Jonathan, and those who lived in Abuja could attest to his mediocre record even during that time. Attempts to investigate him went south in 2016. ↪ Bala Muhammed was declared Governor of Bauchi in May of 2019 and for 5 whole years, this man has pretty much-done nothing to significantly improve the lives of the almost 1 million children under his administration who are reported to be out of school; he has pretty much allowed the state continue on the path of deterioration while he continues to live large on their wealth. And this man now dreams of becoming president of Nigeria in 2027. Isn't this Asiwaju Tinubu all over again? |

treesun: ↪In a statement on Thursday, the Dangote Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, said the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission has not been enforcing the domestic crude supply obligations the way it should. Chiejina was reacting to reports alleging that the refinery has backtracked by acknowledging that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited supplied about 60 per cent of the 50 million barrels it had lifted. The company was said to have stated this on Wednesday before the Senate committee investigating allegations of sabotage in the oil and gas sector. “To clarify, we have never accused NNPC of not supplying us with crude. Our concern has always been NUPRC’s reluctance to enforce the domestic crude supply obligation and ensure that we receive our full crude requirement from NNPC and the international oil companies. “For September, our requirement is 15 cargoes, of which NNPC allocated six. Despite appealing to NUPRC, we’ve been unable to secure the remaining cargoes. When we approached IOCs producing in Nigeria, they redirected us to their international trading arms or responded that their cargoes were committed,” Chiejina said. ↪Ahmed said Dangote diesel has a higher sulphur content than the ones imported into the country. According to him, the refinery had requested the regulator to stop giving import licences to other marketers to be the only fuel supplier in Nigeria. “We cannot rely heavily on one refinery to feed the nation, because Dangote is requesting that we should suspend or stop importation of all petroleum products, especially AGO and direct all marketers to the refinery, that is not good for the nation in terms of energy security. And that is not good for the market, because of monopoly,” Ahmed stressed. However, the President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, denied the allegation, wondering how he could be a monopoly when the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited is renovating government-owned refineries with $4bn. President Bola Tinubu has since ordered the NNPC to sell crude oil to Dangote in naira. So, Dangote has not in fact gotten the feed from NNPC yet in other news it is claimed that Dangote is already getting 60% of its needs from NNPC. Which kain conflicting reports be this one from the media abeg! |

Salewa97: ↪The Dangote refinery says since it commenced full operations, it has processed 50 million barrels of crude — with 60 percent of its feedstock coming from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited. Aliyu Suleiman, the group chief strategy officer of Dangote refinery, spoke when he appeared before an ad hoc senate committee on August 7. The committee, led by Opeyemi Bamidele, the senate majority leader, is probing the alleged importation of substandard petroleum products into the country. In his presentation, Suleiman said while the NNPC supplied 60 percent of the total processed crude, 20 percent was imported, and 20 percent was purchased. He commended the NNPC for making the supply to the Dangote refinery. “About 60 percent of that came from the NNPC, and we are thankful and grateful to them for their support,” he said. “About 20 percent of that (crude) had to be imported from outside and the other 20 percent we purchased. “Essentially, all we are asking for, and let us be very clear, we are happy to pay fair prices. “We are very happy with the price that they set. The price is like supermarkets and that is what we buy. “But what we buy from others is what we think the regulator should look at and the good thing is that the regulator has published a guideline that will address some of these. “We hope that we will work with the regulator and we will get their support so that the refinery can get 100 percent of its crude from Nigeria and buy the crude from companies that produce it in Nigeria — not from international middlemen. How can Dangote who only some weeks ago admitted that his company was not in fact at full operation— we were told it was at 45% capacity— now declare that his company has begun full operations? |
